00:01:55 00:01:58 website they know how to run a certain

00:02:16 00:02:21 you as a company as a guide to help this

00:02:24 00:02:30 and cramming them full of web you know
00:02:26 00:02:32 um copywriting that's meant directly for
00:02:30 00:02:33 search engines you should be writing to
00:02:32 00:02:35 that customer so that's the first thing

00:02:39 00:02:43 are you gonna own your stuff okay are
00:02:41 00:02:45 you gonna own your website not only are
00:02:43 00:02:47 you gonna own your website but are you
00:02:45 00:02:50 gonna own the google tag manager account
00:02:47 00:02:53 that has all the conversions in it are
00:02:50 00:02:56 you going to own your facebook business
00:02:53 00:02:59 pixel your facebook business account
00:02:56 00:03:01 because what happens is we install this
00:02:59 00:03:03 facebook pixel which is the tracking
00:03:01 00:03:06 code for facebook on your website and
00:03:03 00:03:07 all of the data about your website
00:03:06 00:03:09 traffic and all the people who click on
00:03:07 00:03:12 your account get stored to that
00:03:09 00:03:14 if you don't have full-fledged full
00:03:12 00:03:16 access to that website that's a to that
00:03:14 00:03:19 facebook pixel and business manager
00:03:16 00:03:20 account that's a red flag if they start
00:03:19 00:03:23 setting up additional google my
00:03:20 00:03:26 businesses for you and not focusing on
00:03:23 00:03:28 keeping one and giving it to you that's
00:03:26 00:03:30 a red flag if they take and set up their
00:03:28 00:03:32 own google analytiks their own google

00:03:45 00:03:49 a red flag because here's what happens

00:03:49 00:03:52 they run things for you they get
00:03:51 00:03:54 you know all of your remarketing
00:03:52 00:03:56 audiences filled up in that google ads
00:03:54 00:03:58 account google my business account and
00:03:56 00:04:00 then when you switch from them
00:03:58 00:04:02 they take it away from you and then what
00:04:00 00:04:05 happens is they drag their feet and
00:04:02 00:04:07 their absolute snots about helping out
00:04:05 00:04:09 another red flag if they buy your domain
00:04:07 00:04:12 from you and don't hand it over to you
00:04:09 00:04:14 right away that's a red flag if they
00:04:12 00:04:17 insist on building a website in their
00:04:14 00:04:18 own proprietary system that's a red flag
00:04:17 00:04:21 because one of the things now we build
00:04:18 00:04:23 in webflow and i recommend webflow above
00:04:21 00:04:26 all else i think that is the absolute
00:04:23 00:04:28 creme de la creme in terms of simplicity
00:04:26 00:04:29 ease now it's not for every solution
00:04:28 00:04:31 there's a lot of ecommerce solutions
00:04:29 00:04:33 where it might not be the right fit but
00:04:31 00:04:36 when it comes to a good
00:04:33 00:04:38 functional website that you own
00:04:36 00:04:39 everything that's what you should be
00:04:38 00:04:42 looking for that's the other thing when
00:04:39 00:04:44 we work with people we make sure that if
00:04:42 00:04:47 you have your entire website all that
00:04:44 00:04:49 content is a hundred percent yours
00:04:47 00:04:51 ask if you leave this organization once
00:04:49 00:04:53 they build a website for you where does
00:04:51 00:04:54 the rubber hit the road are they gonna
00:04:53 00:04:56 take that from you because one of the
00:04:54 00:04:57 things that people don't understand is
00:04:56 00:04:59 that a lot of times especially in
00:04:57 00:05:02 wordpress people will build this
00:04:59 00:05:04 exquisite wordpress um website out for
00:05:02 00:05:05 you it takes a long time but what they
00:05:04 00:05:07 don't tell you is that they have a ton
00:05:05 00:05:09 of premium plugins that are in there and
00:05:07 00:05:12 those premium plugins and those premium
00:05:09 00:05:14 systems and premium themes are
00:05:12 00:05:17 registered under that web design company
00:05:14 00:05:19 ask them what happens if i end my
00:05:17 00:05:21 relationship with you and a lot of times
00:05:19 00:05:22 what happens is they nuke that license
00:05:21 00:05:24 agreement and all of a sudden your
00:05:22 00:05:26 website doesn't work they might glaze
00:05:24 00:05:28 over that but you'll want to know that
00:05:26 00:05:29 here's another little tip
00:05:28 00:05:31 if they're building in wordpress
00:05:29 00:05:32 especially because wordpress is huge i
00:05:31 00:05:34 don't like wordpress i don't recommend
00:05:32 00:05:36 it at all i think it's messy there's a
00:05:34 00:05:39 ton of security problems you can
00:05:36 00:05:41 certainly find high protein really good
00:05:39 00:05:43 wordpress websites out there for sure
00:05:41 00:05:46 but the dirty little secret is that you
00:05:43 00:05:47 have to have this stack of development
00:05:46 00:05:49 tools in order to have it and that's
00:05:47 00:05:52 usually proprietary or owned by and
00:05:49 00:05:54 licensed by that firm and so here's my
00:05:52 00:05:56 little tip here
00:05:54 00:05:57 wordpress is only as good as the actual
00:05:56 00:05:59 development tool that they make it now
00:05:57 00:06:02 we making we build in webflow and
00:05:59 00:06:05 webflow outputs clean css and html that
00:06:02 00:06:07 actually tiknically could be but i
00:06:05 00:06:08 don't recommend it host it anywhere you
00:06:07 00:06:10 could take that out in fact you can
00:06:08 00:06:13 build other things with this
00:06:10 00:06:16 but if you use like a web a wordpress
00:06:13 00:06:17 builder like divi or elementor or even
00:06:16 00:06:19 beaver builder
00:06:17 00:06:20 sure they make it kind of easy to do a
00:06:19 00:06:23 visual builder but what they don't tell
00:06:20 00:06:25 you is if you ever try to convert that
00:06:23 00:06:26 over to some other system
00:06:25 00:06:27 in the future because you don't know
00:06:26 00:06:29 what's going to happen eight years from
00:06:27 00:06:32 now guess what happens the whole thing
00:06:29 00:06:34 is wrapped in this goofy write-up and it
00:06:32 00:06:35 can't convert over cleanly that'd be the
00:06:34 00:06:37 other thing if you're ever blogging make
00:06:35 00:06:39 sure that your blogs can easily be
00:06:37 00:06:41 exported this is notorious in the real
00:06:39 00:06:44 estate space you sign up with chime or
00:06:41 00:06:45 conversion boom tone real geeks excuse

00:06:45 00:06:49 all these different website solutions
00:06:47 00:06:51 out there and you write blog posts and
00:06:49 00:06:52 then what happens is if you ever decide
00:06:51 00:06:54 to switch brokerages and all of a sudden
00:06:52 00:06:55 you get that discount is no longer there
00:06:54 00:06:58 and you have to pay for it yourself
00:06:55 00:07:00 you're like holy cows that's expensive
00:06:58 00:07:02 can the blog post be exported cleanly
00:07:00 00:07:04 and easily and then when you do blog
00:07:02 00:07:06 blogging is important for content but
00:07:04 00:07:08 when you do blog what i don't recommend

00:07:08 00:07:12 visual builder that's a fail if your
00:07:10 00:07:14 company is starting to markup all sorts
00:07:12 00:07:15 of blog posts and using a visual builder
00:07:14 00:07:17 what's going to happen is if you ever
00:07:15 00:07:19 want to change direction or course which
00:07:17 00:07:21 it is tiknology you're going to want to
00:07:19 00:07:22 change you're you're high and dry and
00:07:21 00:07:24 you end up having to go through a ton of
00:07:22 00:07:26 work so these are important things to
00:07:24 00:07:27 wonder about are you going to get the
00:07:26 00:07:28 full accounts handed to you when you're
00:07:27 00:07:30 done are they going to build in
00:07:28 00:07:32 something proprietary and if you switch
00:07:30 00:07:35 what happens with that the other thing
00:07:32 00:07:37 that i would ask is like how
00:07:35 00:07:39 if you hire maybe a new copywriter maybe
00:07:37 00:07:41 a new seo team or somebody else do they
00:07:39 00:07:43 play nice with other people you know
00:07:41 00:07:45 that that's a huge deal if they're not
00:07:43 00:07:46 playing nice with addition like i work
00:07:45 00:07:48 with some folks who they already have a
00:07:46 00:07:50 website and we do a lot of running their
00:07:48 00:07:51 google ads and their remarketing
00:07:50 00:07:53 campaigns but if that other team is
00:07:51 00:07:56 really close-fisted with it and they see
00:07:53 00:07:57 everybody as a threat that's a red flag
00:07:56 00:07:59 because they should know what they do
00:07:57 00:08:01 well and they should be open with
00:07:59 00:08:02 collaborating with people to do other
00:08:01 00:08:04 aspects better so
00:08:02 00:08:06 again let's just ask again are you going
00:08:04 00:08:08 to get your full google ads account
00:08:06 00:08:10 google tag manager account your google
00:08:08 00:08:12 my business your google analytiks
00:08:10 00:08:14 account because all of that setup if you
00:08:12 00:08:16 have to redo that cost dearly they
00:08:14 00:08:18 should be handing you and adding you as
00:08:16 00:08:21 a full admin probably warning you not to
00:08:18 00:08:22 mess with it but handing that over to
00:08:21 00:08:25 you shouldn't get that reset if they
00:08:22 00:08:27 leave right um that's a big deal the
00:08:25 00:08:28 google ad account better be yours
00:08:27 00:08:31 because you're going to build up
00:08:28 00:08:33 up to 540 days with the remarketing
00:08:31 00:08:34 audiences in your google ad account in
00:08:33 00:08:37 your google analytiks account in your
00:08:34 00:08:39 facebook is up to 150 those ad account
00:08:37 00:08:41 remarketing lists
00:08:39 00:08:43 that's a thing you should own so they
00:08:41 00:08:45 should not be building their own little
00:08:43 00:08:46 sub account and not handing it over to
00:08:45 00:08:46 you
00:08:46 00:08:48 just
00:08:46 00:08:50 it should just come to you there should
00:08:48 00:08:52 be no games there when they build a
00:08:50 00:08:53 website you should ask them and just
00:08:52 00:08:55 find out you know what are you building

00:09:19 00:09:24 there destroying all the margins and the
00:09:21 00:09:26 padding and and stuff like that

00:09:26 00:09:30 you as an editor but those are all red
00:09:28 00:09:31 flags that you should be on the lookout
00:09:30 00:09:32 and then the other thing is just

00:09:35 00:09:39 web design and a web designer runs
00:09:37 00:09:40 around and hits every problem with the

00:09:40 00:09:44 seo folks are like i'm convinced that
00:09:42 00:09:46 seo is so much better than paid
00:09:44 00:09:48 advertising and paid advertising is just
00:09:46 00:09:49 giving money to the big tik oligarchs
00:09:48 00:09:51 it's like
00:09:49 00:09:53 yeah but if you want consistent growth
00:09:51 00:09:55 you got to consider both if they hit
00:09:53 00:09:57 everything with an seo hammer
00:09:55 00:09:59 run away because it's not just all about
00:09:57 00:10:00 seo and it's not all about web design
00:09:59 00:10:03 and if they come to you and they're all
00:10:00 00:10:05 about keyword planning and and google
00:10:03 00:10:07 ads entirely and they don't tok to you
00:10:05 00:10:09 about sales copywriting and optimizing
00:10:07 00:10:11 your website so that people actually see
00:10:09 00:10:13 you as credible and trustworthy and as
00:10:11 00:10:15 an authority and that it's clean and
00:10:13 00:10:17 that it actually moves you don't
00:10:15 00:10:18 don't work with them if they're running
00:10:17 00:10:22 around and they're just
00:10:18 00:10:24 lever pulling either seo web design or
00:10:22 00:10:25 paid advertising and they're neglecting
00:10:24 00:10:27 your messaging and your strategy and
00:10:25 00:10:28 your customer and all that
00:10:27 00:10:30 run for the hills it needs to be a well
