7 Steps to How I Created a Product and Made $14,752 Online in Just 30 Days

in this video I'm going to show you
seven steps that you can use to create a
product and make over $14,000 online in
less than 30 days and this is the exact
method I use and it has nothing to do
with drop shipping or white labeling or
any of those other gimmicky things that
other people tok about is a way better
method so let's get into the test
hey I'm Travis and after five plus years
of being in e-commerce of being a
full-time entrepreneur of trying eight a
lot of different things I kind of
stumbled upon this method of this idea
and I want to share with you the exact
steps that I use in exact steps that you
can use to reproduce my success so step
number one is mindset and it sounds all
woowoo but trust me it's important we're
just gonna spend a second on that and
then step number two is creating and
coming up with an idea if you've done
this video it's probably cuz you want to
make money online you're probably
watching a bunch of people give you a
bunch of gimmicky ways to make money to
drop shippers to Amazon FBA white
labelers and you can make money with
those methods but it's kind of short
term
it's kind of this weird thing that's
working right now but it's not a long
term strategy and most dropshippers or
white labelers will tell you that it's
just a way to make quick cash but the
method I'm about to tok about not only
can you make money in the same amount of
time it's just as quick as you can with
those other methods but it's actually
building something real it's actually
creating a product so you don't want to
be a drop shipper you don't want to be a
white label or you want to be a product
creator think about Nike think about
Apple what did they do they started with
one or just a small handful of products
with Nike it was just a few shoes with
Apple it was a single computer and
turned both those into multi-billion
dollar industries why because their
products were different in fact Apple's
motto is think different so start
thinking instead of how can you make
some quick cash think about how you can
add value to the world and that's how
money works money is really a value
exchange so if you can create a lot of
value do something that people find
valuable which isn't that hard to do
it's just as hard to do drop shipping or
white labeling then you're gonna make a
lot more money in a much more sustained
way and that's what we're gonna tok
about tok about how I created a product
and how you can do it and it's not that
hard so let's get into the second step
which is coming up with an idea which is
a lot easier than people think so I'm
gonna give you some quick tactiks on how
you can come up with an idea the first
is do an assessment where do you spend
money what are you interested in so this
could be what magazines do you read
squee what blogs you read probably don't
read too many magazines anymore this
could be what kind of things do you
enjoy toking about with your friends
very good tactik to do this is look at
the last 12 months of your credit card
statement look where you spent your
money especially look at where you spent
more money than you probably should have
I'll spend a lot of money on good
quality food that makes me feel better
and that's part of the reason I came up
with my idea so if that's still not
enough and you still have trouble coming
up with an idea I add an exercise for
you every day for the next 30 days
before you go to bed write down just one
idea and the key to this is it doesn't
matter how bad the idea is and what's
gonna start happening is you're gonna
start notiking things that you wish
existed in the world and the reason I
came up the idea from my product which
all I'll tok about later is because I
it was something I wanted and then I
searched on Amazon I searched on Google
and I couldn't find the exact thing that
I wanted out there so I figured rather
than waiting for someone else to make it
I'll make it I'll create a business
around it and then I'm creating a lot of
value in the world I'm filling a niche
because I knew that if I wanted it there
was probably at least another thousand
people out there that also wanted it and
I could go off on a lot of tangents on
how to come up with a good idea and I'll
probably do a separate video about that
when it when I do release that video
I'll link it to this video but books
like the 22 immutable laws of marketing
toks about how you should create a new
category this is the same idea that the
book the blue ocean strategy toks about
you should create something new and
that's kind of again what I did with my
product it was something that was
similar to what was out there but it was
a new niche it was a new demographic and
that's another side tangent you want
your product to be niche down you don't
want it to be for everybody
because if your products for everybody
it's not really for anybody you want to
find your thousand true fans so we're
gonna be toking about all this later in
the video step number three start
building a tribe right so once you have
your idea and this can be very early on
you want to start building a tribe and
what do I mean by this Kevin Kelley has
a artikle about a thousand true fans
somebody says is if you can find a
thousand fans that are diehard fans of
whatever it is you do and they're each
willing to give you fifty to a hundred
dollars a year you can make 50 to
$100,000 a year just from those thousand
people now let's fast-forward this with
the model that I'm toking about you you
really when you're creating a product
you want to focus on just 1,000 people
your your true 1,000 fans because those
people are gonna spread the
message and if you can make a perfect
product for a thousand people more
people will buy it and try it and I mean
that's once again more or less what I
was thinking about when I was creating
performance nut butter my product so how
do you build a tribe you might be asking
yourself well there's a lot of different
methods one of the things that I did was
start an Instagram start commenting
liking following you know direct
messaging people on Instagram that you
think are in your target demographic
people that use certain hashtags or that
follow your quote-unquote competitors or
similar companies and had a thing that I
did is I had a link in my Instagram
profile where they could sign up and
they could put their email in there to
get a chance to win a free box of
performance nut butter when it came out
and then I also would email each person
individually and have a conversation
with them I started building a tribe
that way I got everybody into a Facebook
group which is hugely important and I'll
tok about that in a separate video but
got them into a Facebook group got their
emails got them following me on
Instagram created this little community
and that whole thing that community
especially the Facebook group was
crucial for fleshing out the idea
because I had this idea I knew it was
gonna work but I had questions like hey
guys do you like this logo better or
this logo better do you like this flavor
profile better or this flavor profile
better so for instance I knew from my
company performance nut butter which is
a macadamia coconut cashew blended nut
butter obviously a very premium product
that my core 1000 fans are gonna be
somewhat athletik and that's why I
branded it performance nut butter and
that's why I had it is a premium product
so I tried to figure out where would
they hang out and I'm like well they
probably are into CrossFit or athletiks
or
jiu-jitsu is a big one mud runs
triathlons all these different ideas and
I tried to narrow it down and figure out
where would they hang out and you could
even go deeper than that and I have
worksheets that'll help you with this
whole process in the e-commerce success
pack and click here for the links to go
to effective e-commerce calm but the
point is my product wasn't for everybody
it's not for the person loves candy bars
in fact if you love candy bars you're
gonna hate my product because it's
actually healthy though it's it's still
very tasty then we're before
create a mock-up or some kind of a
sample and start testing it creating
mock-ups and samples is not as hard as
you would think in fact it's kind of
like an arts and crafts project so for
performance nut butter for instance the
first batches of the nut butter and
testing it out I just whipped up in my
kitchen I just got a food processor and
whipped it up then when I was actually
mocking up the box
I took a competitor's box and I just put
stikers all over it
I printed out what the design would look
like put stikers on it because normally
would be really expensive to
mass-produce a bunch of boxes I just
created one with stikers same thing
with the little pouches that came in I
just put stikers on the competitors
pouch just to get an idea
I even hired someone to do some
small-scale production run of jars now
that doesn't work for every type of
company every type of mock-up but for
instance I'm working with some of that's
creating a bracelet right now he's just
hand manufacturing and he's doing an
arts and crafts project I'm working with
a girl that's creating a tea to help
fight autoimmune disease she just went
to the grocery store and got the
different ingredients and tried it out
for herself I'm working with my
girlfriend we're creating a card set
basically that helps you learn about
wine and all we did is same idea we took
a competitor
we took a product that wasn't even a
competitor product we took some other
cards that were out there on the market
and just put stikers on top of it just
to see how it would feel just to show to
our to our friends and family and for
that product specifically I just did
some quick stuff in Photoshop there's
tutorials online that can teach you how
to do that my point of all this being
it's not that hard to create a mock-up
or a quick prototype it doesn't have to
be anything super elaborate just come up
with something and get it in motion step
number five and this is an optional one
influencers so this is something I did
for the launch of performance nut butter
it's totally optional but it can be very
beneficial is finding influencers in
your space and they'll help answer some
of your questions and they'll help
promote it so what I did personally is I
have a podcast and I interviewed people
on my podcast and I've at the end of the
conversation after an hour long of
toking about them I said hey I have
this product coming out what do you
think and I asked them a few questions
of what they thought about our product
and most of them loved it and if they
did love it I said hey can I send you a
free jar when it launches and pretty
much everybody said yes and the key here
was I wasn't cold emailing them I wasn't
asking them for a favor
I said hey come on my podcast let me
share your story let me do you a favor
and then at the end of it
well what do you think about this and I
gave them the option to be nice and give
me some feedback and I give them the
option to be nice and share it with
their audience which most of them after
they met me we're happy to do and the
same is gonna be true for you once again
this whole process I'm not special you
can do all this stuff so reaching out to
influencers isn't that hard try to think
of a unique angle that you can do that's
a little bit different than what
everyone else is doing step number six
is to launch the product so now we're
finally ready to launch the product and
the method that I personally use and
this is up to you what you did I went to
Kickstarter and then I went to Amazon
FBA and then I went to my own Shopify
site you can do it in whatever order you
want and some people it might make sense
just to go straight to Amazon FBA the
process is gonna be the same so let's
tok about that and then I'll clarify
should you do Kickstarter first Shopify
or Amazon FBA so the process is gonna be
kind of what's called a drip campaign so
you've built up this tribe you've built
up this Instagram list you've built up
this email list and all this stuff isn't
that hard to do I toked about it and
I'll make another video toking about it
more you probably built up a Facebook
group so leading up to the launch at
least seven days before you're gonna
want to post in your Facebook group a
video saying hey guys the launches in
seven days please share this video for a
chance to win a free whatever your item
is you're gonna post that same video or
a different video in Instagram send it
out to your email list you're gonna post
it on your personal Instagram and the
company Instagram your personal Facebook
page anywhere and everywhere you're
gonna want to share the message seven
days yeah seven days till the countdown
then I'd say again three days before
then I'd say again one day before and
then I'd say again the day of this is
actually from the book launch here more
or less if you want more details I would
check that out
I changed it a little bit but the idea
remains the same you're getting people
excited about the launch of your product
you're letting them know ahead of time
so that it's not just out of the blue
like oh should I be supporting this
product and the other part is you've
already built up this tribe of like
people that are raving fans you know I
think about it as like a champagne
bottle if you don't do any kind of a
pre-launch sequence any kind of like a
build up a drip campaign going up to it
it's just like opening a sham
a bottle that's been sitting there for a
year but the the launch starts shaking
it up and then when you finally launch
you're going to the champagne explodes
right obviously so that is how you
launch now to answer the question should
you do Kickstarter first or Amazon FBA
or Shopify I would say if you want to
test the market if you don't have a lot
of capital and this is what I did with
my product do a Kickstarter first and
then you can raise some money that's how
I raised over $14,000 in 30 days I
didn't even have to have any product for
the Kickstarter like no one was gonna
get anything for a few months so this
allows you to test like dip your toe in
the water and it's one thing for people
to say hey I'm interested in that it's
another for them to put their money
where their mouth is and actually buy
the product so if you want to test it
you're not sure if this is something you
want to do Kickstarter makes a lot of
sense if you need the money
Kickstarter makes a lot of sense or any
other crowdfunding you do IndieGoGo or
any of those other ones doesn't really
matter
Kickstarter or IndieGoGo makes a lot of
sense in those scenarios now if you know
you're already gonna do this product you
know that for sure it's gonna be a
winner go ahead and do Amazon FBA and
then you're gonna be growing a really
big snowball that you can roll down the
hill and it's gonna you know gain some
traction what I mean by that is you're
gonna put your product on Amazon FBA
you're gonna launch it and the day of
the launch your sales are gonna spike
Amazon's gonna be like whoa this is a
really hot product we need to make sure
that this is number one for all these
different categories and that's great
but what I did I did Kickstarter first
and then I waited a few months and I
launched again on Amazon and I told
everybody that back the Kickstarter
everybody that was part of my tribe hey
could you do me a favor and go leave a
five-star review and buy another one on
Amazon and a lot of people did I then
told everyone that was part of the
Kickstarter part of my initial tribe go
to Amazon it's at a discounted rate
right now buy one if you like it please
leave a review and of course these
people are gonna leave positive reviews
because they followed my entire process
and then after that I actually had
launched a Shopify site with a new
discounted rate got people hooked into
like a monthly reoccurring revenue if
they wanted it as the discount that was
my incentive to get them over there but
the order which you do it is up to you
but all the other steps are very
important and they stay the same and
finally step number seven is actually
getting it manufactured which could come
before step number six but let's get
into some of the details of that and
this is a step that again people get
hung up on and the only reason I added
this in this video is because I want you
to know that it's not that hard you
shouldn't even be focusing on this
because getting a manufacturer is easy
once you've got the money once you've
got the incentive to create the product
getting a manufacturer is easy really
what it's going to be is doing some
Google searches checking Aliexpress or
Alibaba
looking at your competitors trying to
find out where they get their stuff
manufactured and just making a lot of
phone calls doing a lot of Google
searches people overcomplicate this
stuff so much I'll do a separate video
about this topic but in the meantime if
you don't even have an idea yet go start
creating an idea if you already have an
idea create a tribe like whatever step
you're at right now move on to the next
step and if you want to see exactly how
I created performance nut butter in 30
days and made over $14,000 online click
the video right here
I've logged the entire experience I
wanted to document it to show people
that it's possible and I go over
everything in a very condensed manner of
exactly what I'm doing there's full
transparency so watch that video and you
can see how I did it and you can see how
you can do it yourself
