00:00:14 00:00:18 you should start prepping
00:00:15 00:00:18 like yesterday so in this video we're
00:00:18 00:00:20 going to cover
00:00:18 00:00:22 what to expect in terms of sales
00:00:20 00:00:24 increases
00:00:22 00:00:26 inventory forecasting i know this is a
00:00:24 00:00:27 big one for a lot of people
00:00:26 00:00:29 we're going to tok about important
00:00:27 00:00:31 dates that you've got you should take
00:00:29 00:00:33 note of we're going to tok about
00:00:31 00:00:36 optimizing your amazon listing and
00:00:33 00:00:38 increase in amazon storage fees so in
00:00:36 00:00:41 general if you're selling on amazon you
00:00:38 00:00:41 could experience anywhere from 30 to 300
00:00:41 00:00:44 percent
00:00:41 00:00:47 increase in your revenue during q4
00:00:44 00:00:48 it will depend on what products you're
00:00:47 00:00:49 selling
00:00:48 00:00:51 it's going to depend on the nature of

00:01:22 00:01:26 revenue
00:01:22 00:01:28 increase and december 21st apparently
00:01:26 00:01:31 is the unofficial busiest day of the
00:01:28 00:01:33 year for amazon shoppers so
00:01:31 00:01:34 who knows maybe december 21st will be
00:01:33 00:01:37 your best day
00:01:34 00:01:37 on amazon yet so with all of this
00:01:37 00:01:40 increase
00:01:37 00:01:42 in sales you do have to make sure that
00:01:40 00:01:43 you are going to be in stok
00:01:42 00:01:45 so that you can benefit from the holiday
00:01:43 00:01:47 season because it would be a shame if
00:01:45 00:01:49 you know you were out of stok and you
00:01:47 00:01:51 couldn't continue selling on amazon
00:01:49 00:01:53 and you miss out on all of the revenue
00:01:51 00:01:54 that you would otherwise have
00:01:53 00:01:56 so that's where the inventory
00:01:54 00:01:59 forecasting does come into play
00:01:56 00:02:00 making sure that you can antikipate how
00:01:59 00:02:02 many units you should be ordering with
00:02:00 00:02:05 your manufacturer
00:02:02 00:02:07 asap like maybe a while ago and
00:02:05 00:02:09 and then place in that order as soon as
00:02:07 00:02:11 possible so that you can have it at the
00:02:09 00:02:13 amazon warehouses and ready to go during
00:02:11 00:02:15 the sales season
00:02:13 00:02:16 but if you are a new seller it can be
00:02:15 00:02:19 really challenging
00:02:16 00:02:20 to do this inventory forecasting because
00:02:19 00:02:22 you don't have any sales data
00:02:20 00:02:25 you aren't able to look back on last
00:02:22 00:02:27 year's sales to kind of help you predict
00:02:25 00:02:29 what the sales will be for this year so
00:02:27 00:02:31 it can be a bit more challenging for you
00:02:29 00:02:32 okay so there's a few pieces of
00:02:31 00:02:35 information that you're going to need to
00:02:32 00:02:37 know in order to estimate how many units
00:02:35 00:02:41 you should order from your supplier
00:02:37 00:02:43 first one is lead time so how long does
00:02:41 00:02:45 it take your supplier to produce to
00:02:43 00:02:48 manufacture your products
00:02:45 00:02:50 the second one is shipping time how long
00:02:48 00:02:51 does it take for your inventory to get
00:02:50 00:02:53 from your manufacturer
00:02:51 00:02:55 to the amazon fba warehouses it's going
00:02:53 00:02:57 to depend if you're going to do air
00:02:55 00:02:59 shipping or sea shipping
00:02:57 00:03:00 air is usually about 7 days c usually
00:02:59 00:03:04 about 30 days
00:03:00 00:03:06 but that's just an estimate right now
00:03:04 00:03:07 with the covid situation those times
00:03:06 00:03:09 usually
00:03:07 00:03:11 are longer so it's better to get an
00:03:09 00:03:12 accurate uh quote from your freight
00:03:11 00:03:15 forwarder
00:03:12 00:03:16 or from your supplier you're also going
00:03:15 00:03:19 to need
00:03:16 00:03:21 a buffer time so
00:03:19 00:03:23 this is just extra time so in case your
00:03:21 00:03:25 shipment gets caught up in customs in
00:03:23 00:03:28 case there are some delays
00:03:25 00:03:29 in case the lead time goes over the
00:03:28 00:03:33 expected lead time
00:03:29 00:03:36 so buffer time and the last one
00:03:33 00:03:39 is decision time so how long
00:03:36 00:03:40 do you want until you have to make the
00:03:39 00:03:43 next decision
00:03:40 00:03:46 to place your next inventory order okay
00:03:43 00:03:47 so let's just do some simple math here

00:03:47 00:03:52 lead time with the supplier is 30 days
00:03:50 00:03:54 okay so then we add that to shipping
00:03:52 00:03:55 time let's just say it's about if we
00:03:54 00:03:58 ship by c

00:04:03 00:04:07 and decision time let's say we want to

00:04:28 00:04:31 in order to get an estimate of how many
00:04:30 00:04:34 units we should order
00:04:31 00:04:36 okay so what we're going to do now is
00:04:34 00:04:37 we're going to go to amazon
00:04:36 00:04:39 and again guys it's like this is just
00:04:37 00:04:42 what i do this is not
00:04:39 00:04:43 um i'm not saying this is what you
00:04:42 00:04:45 should do i'm not saying that this is
00:04:43 00:04:46 the right way to do things this is just
00:04:45 00:04:49 what i do
00:04:46 00:04:50 so take it uh with a grain of salt for
00:04:49 00:04:52 whatever it's worth
00:04:50 00:04:53 um and you can go to whatever product
00:04:52 00:04:54 that you're planning to source so type
00:04:53 00:04:56 in that
00:04:54 00:04:57 keyword there i did cat harness because
00:04:56 00:04:59 cats are cute
00:04:57 00:05:01 and the one i'm going to use is i'm
00:04:59 00:05:04 going to use jungle scout
00:05:01 00:05:04 and it's going to do its estimations
00:05:04 00:05:06 here
00:05:04 00:05:10 and so right here it's telling us an
00:05:06 00:05:12 average monthly sales of 2260 units per
00:05:10 00:05:14 66 units per month so they are using
00:05:12 00:05:15 accusal so accu sales
00:05:14 00:05:17 is the kind of algorithm that jungle
00:05:15 00:05:20 scout uses to make
00:05:17 00:05:21 this prediction and um and so that's
00:05:20 00:05:25 going to give you
00:05:21 00:05:25 a broad kind of idea of how many units
00:05:25 00:05:29 people
00:05:25 00:05:31 sell but in all honesty
00:05:29 00:05:32 not sure how relevant that is to you as
00:05:31 00:05:34 a brand new seller
00:05:32 00:05:37 because as a brand new seller you're not
00:05:34 00:05:40 going to be expecting to make 221 000
00:05:37 00:05:41 a month selling 13 000 units a month
00:05:40 00:05:44 like it's just not
00:05:41 00:05:45 accurate because you don't have 6 900
00:05:44 00:05:47 reviews on amazon
00:05:45 00:05:49 as a brand new seller you're gonna go in
00:05:47 00:05:51 with no reviews you're gonna
00:05:49 00:05:53 try and get your 20 reviews on your
00:05:51 00:05:54 amazon listing
00:05:53 00:05:57 and then you're going to see what those
00:05:54 00:05:59 sales are so what i like to do
00:05:57 00:06:01 is i like to find people who are on the
00:05:59 00:06:02 first page because the idea for me is
00:06:01 00:06:04 still to get to the first page we all
00:06:02 00:06:05 want to rank to the first page that's
00:06:04 00:06:08 our goal
00:06:05 00:06:09 because most amazon customers they make
00:06:08 00:06:10 their buying decision
00:06:09 00:06:13 after reviewing all the products on the
00:06:10 00:06:14 first page sometimes the second and
00:06:13 00:06:16 third but anything after that
00:06:14 00:06:17 it's just much harder for you to get
00:06:16 00:06:19 views
00:06:17 00:06:20 because most people they just scroll
00:06:19 00:06:22 through the first page and they're
00:06:20 00:06:23 satisfied
00:06:22 00:06:25 so what i'm going to do is i'm going to
00:06:23 00:06:26 look for people who are selling on this
00:06:25 00:06:28 page who
00:06:26 00:06:30 are having fewer reviews because that's
00:06:28 00:06:32 going to be more realistik
00:06:30 00:06:33 of what i could expect and i'm going to
00:06:32 00:06:35 see how much they're
00:06:33 00:06:37 selling and i'm going to get up my phone
00:06:35 00:06:39 as a calculator here
00:06:37 00:06:40 and i'm just going to find the average
00:06:39 00:06:43 sales
00:06:40 00:06:45 per month based on this accu sales
00:06:43 00:06:48 estimate over here
00:06:45 00:06:49 so i'm going to go down
00:06:48 00:06:51 i'm going to look for people i'm going
00:06:49 00:06:52 to start at the bottom who have under
00:06:51 00:06:54 100 reviews
00:06:52 00:06:56 because that's going to be more
00:06:54 00:06:59 realistik for me and i'm just going to
00:06:56 00:07:00 add up the number of monthly sales and
00:06:59 00:07:01 then what i'm going to do
00:07:00 00:07:02 is i'm just going to do it really quick
00:07:01 00:07:04 on my calculator and kind of in my head
00:07:02 00:07:06 i'm going to divide it by the number of
00:07:04 00:07:09 listings that i just counted
00:07:06 00:07:13 to get the average so i'm going to do
00:07:09 00:07:13 here a 135 so that's 1
00:07:14 00:07:22 2.
00:07:17 00:07:22 three four
00:07:23 00:07:30 five so i'm skipping these because they
00:07:27 00:07:32 have over a hundred reviews okay let's
00:07:30 00:07:34 just settle at 12. so
00:07:32 00:07:37 the total monthly sales for these 12
00:07:34 00:07:39 listings was 2494.
00:07:37 00:07:40 so i'm going to divide that from by 12
00:07:39 00:07:44 to get the average
00:07:40 00:07:46 of 207 sales per per month that was the
00:07:44 00:07:48 average for these listings that i just
00:07:46 00:07:50 counted and these are all listings with
00:07:48 00:07:53 reviews under 100.
00:07:50 00:07:54 so for me as a brand new seller what's
00:07:53 00:07:57 more realistik
00:07:54 00:07:57 is i'm going to sell around 200 units
00:07:57 00:08:01 per month
00:07:57 00:08:04 rather than 2 266 units per month
00:08:01 00:08:05 so um one thing i will mention though is
00:08:04 00:08:06 you should be going in here and you
00:08:05 00:08:08 should remove
00:08:06 00:08:10 any listings that don't look like the
00:08:08 00:08:12 product you're going to be selling
00:08:10 00:08:14 okay so if i'm selling a cat harness but
00:08:12 00:08:15 it's the one that has the cushion not
00:08:14 00:08:17 like this
00:08:15 00:08:19 it looks more like this rather than like
00:08:17 00:08:22 this where this one has like the whole
00:08:19 00:08:25 back cover then i'm going to remove this
00:08:22 00:08:26 from the results because that's going to
00:08:25 00:08:28 that's going to alter
00:08:26 00:08:30 things right like that's not the product
00:08:28 00:08:31 i'm selling that's not what my customers
00:08:30 00:08:33 are looking for
00:08:31 00:08:35 my competitor is someone like this right
00:08:33 00:08:36 so you're going to try and find
00:08:35 00:08:38 products that are most similar to the
00:08:36 00:08:40 product that you're going to be selling
00:08:38 00:08:41 for a more accurate results so you can
00:08:40 00:08:44 go in and look at the pictures and just
00:08:41 00:08:46 kind of easily remove them
00:08:44 00:08:48 so that's what i'm going to do and so
00:08:46 00:08:50 then what i'm going to do here
00:08:48 00:08:52 is i'm going to say okay if my goal is
00:08:50 00:08:54 to sell about 200 units per month that's
00:08:52 00:08:56 my goal as someone who's just
00:08:54 00:08:58 starting to sell what i'm actually going
00:08:56 00:09:03 to do now is i'm going to do
00:08:58 00:09:06 200 units per month divided by
00:09:03 00:09:08 30 divided by 30
00:09:06 00:09:10 and that's going to help me get the how
00:09:08 00:09:12 many units i'm going to sell per day so
00:09:10 00:09:14 that's going to be about 6.6 units per
00:09:12 00:09:16 day we're going to round up to 7 units
00:09:14 00:09:19 per day and then we're going to take the
00:09:16 00:09:22 97 days lead time 97
00:09:19 00:09:26 days of lead time we're going to
00:09:22 00:09:29 times it by 7 units
00:09:26 00:09:31 we're going to times it by 7 units
00:09:31 00:09:38 target sales per day equals how many
00:09:35 00:09:42 units is that 97 times
00:09:38 00:09:45 7 that's 679
00:09:42 00:09:47 units per month okay so
00:09:45 00:09:49 that's probably how much we're going to
00:09:47 00:09:53 want to order from the supplier
00:09:49 00:09:55 now because of q4 this is where it gets
00:09:53 00:09:56 complicating so it's easier to do the
00:09:55 00:09:57 estimates
00:09:56 00:09:59 when you're not in the holiday season
00:09:57 00:10:01 versus if you are planning to ship
00:09:59 00:10:03 inventory during the holiday season
00:10:01 00:10:06 because again
00:10:03 00:10:08 sellers experience three to five times
00:10:06 00:10:09 the sales volume and it just depends
00:10:08 00:10:09 like if you're more of an experienced
00:10:09 00:10:12 seller
00:10:09 00:10:13 you're one of these guys here who have 6
00:10:12 00:10:15 000 reviews
00:10:13 00:10:17 doing really well already they're the
00:10:15 00:10:19 ones who are going to benefit the most
00:10:17 00:10:21 rather than people who are on page 15 of
00:10:19 00:10:24 the search engine on amazon
00:10:21 00:10:25 but what you can do is you can first try
00:10:24 00:10:28 and determine
00:10:25 00:10:31 is your product something that is going
00:10:28 00:10:33 to increase in sales or is it seasonal
00:10:31 00:10:34 and one way you can do that is by going
00:10:33 00:10:38 here on jungle scout to
00:10:34 00:10:41 search trends and you can use google
00:10:38 00:10:44 as trends to determine if your product
00:10:41 00:10:45 increases uh throughout the year in
00:10:44 00:10:48 terms of search
00:10:45 00:10:50 volume do people search for this keyword
00:10:48 00:10:52 at specific times during the year
00:10:50 00:10:54 if so when and how much does the search
00:10:52 00:10:57 volume increase
00:10:54 00:10:58 so for example we can see here that it
00:10:57 00:10:59 doesn't look like during the winter
00:10:58 00:11:01 months
00:10:59 00:11:03 during the holidays that this is a
00:11:01 00:11:06 product that would increase in revenue
00:11:03 00:11:07 based on the search volume people don't
00:11:06 00:11:09 seem to be searching this this doesn't
00:11:07 00:11:10 seem to be like something that people
00:11:09 00:11:12 are buying as gifts
00:11:10 00:11:15 but we do see an increase here during
00:11:12 00:11:17 the summer months during may
00:11:15 00:11:19 and june over here so you know kind of
00:11:17 00:11:21 starting in march we see that
00:11:19 00:11:23 people start to search for this more and
00:11:21 00:11:24 that makes sense because people want to
00:11:23 00:11:25 walk their cats on the street
00:11:24 00:11:27 they're going to want to do it during
00:11:25 00:11:30 the summer time when it's warm outside
00:11:27 00:11:33 because we all know that cats hate water
00:11:30 00:11:34 so um so that makes sense so for this
00:11:33 00:11:37 partikular product
00:11:34 00:11:38 i probably wouldn't worry too much about
00:11:37 00:11:40 q4
00:11:38 00:11:42 and my sales increasing so in addition
00:11:40 00:11:44 to google analytiks
00:11:42 00:11:46 jungle scout also has something called
00:11:44 00:11:48 keyword scout where you can see up to
00:11:46 00:11:51 two years of historical search
00:11:48 00:11:53 data and this is valuable because google
00:11:51 00:11:54 google trends is great because it shows
00:11:53 00:11:55 you what people are searching for on
00:11:54 00:11:58 google
00:11:55 00:11:59 but you're going to be selling on amazon
00:11:58 00:12:01 so you're more concerned with what
00:11:59 00:12:01 people are searching for on amazon
00:12:01 00:12:04 because that
00:12:01 00:12:05 is your marketplace and so with jungle
00:12:04 00:12:06 scout they will show you this
00:12:05 00:12:08 information
00:12:06 00:12:10 up to two years in the past so we can
00:12:08 00:12:12 see here okay last
00:12:10 00:12:13 last year how was it in terms of the
00:12:12 00:12:17 search and
00:12:13 00:12:20 searches how about the year after that
00:12:17 00:12:23 and um etc here so
00:12:20 00:12:24 it's going to help give you an idea of
00:12:23 00:12:27 how much
00:12:24 00:12:28 the searches increase during what period
00:12:27 00:12:30 of time
00:12:28 00:12:32 so if it's in the summer months you can
00:12:30 00:12:34 say okay there's a
00:12:32 00:12:36 you know 50 increase in search results
00:12:34 00:12:38 in the summer months maybe i should have
00:12:36 00:12:40 increasing i should increase my order
00:12:38 00:12:43 with my supplier by 50
00:12:40 00:12:44 i need to order 50 more units during the
00:12:43 00:12:45 summer months because more people are
00:12:44 00:12:47 searching for it
00:12:45 00:12:50 so this is going to give you some
00:12:47 00:12:52 information to go off of as well
00:12:50 00:12:54 so also what you could consider doing is
00:12:52 00:12:56 doing the high end of things to see okay
00:12:54 00:12:58 if i was to sell like these top
00:12:56 00:13:00 competitors here
00:12:58 00:13:01 what would be the high end of my sales
00:13:00 00:13:03 of my monthly sales
00:13:01 00:13:05 because what we did is we looked kind of
00:13:03 00:13:07 at the more of a realistik perspective
00:13:05 00:13:09 looking at people who had
00:13:07 00:13:11 a lower number of reviews but you could
00:13:09 00:13:12 also do that here so you could pull like
00:13:11 00:13:14 the
00:13:12 00:13:15 you can sort with jungle scout by the
00:13:14 00:13:19 most revenue
00:13:15 00:13:20 these top five listings
00:13:19 00:13:22 and again you just want to remove the
00:13:20 00:13:26 ones that
00:13:22 00:13:28 are duplicates um and then
00:13:26 00:13:30 from there you can find out what the
00:13:28 00:13:32 average is and so then that gives you
00:13:30 00:13:33 kind of the upper range and then the
00:13:32 00:13:35 lower range and then that can help
00:13:33 00:13:37 guide you in terms of how many units you
00:13:35 00:13:38 want to order so i know it's not the
00:13:37 00:13:41 simplest
00:13:38 00:13:42 process it's not super accurate the most
00:13:41 00:13:44 accurate way you could do things is just
00:13:42 00:13:45 by having that sales history and you're
00:13:44 00:13:48 going to learn as you go
00:13:45 00:13:50 it's just a process and there is trial
00:13:48 00:13:51 and error that is involved with this

00:14:22 00:14:25 so that is the spring festival that's
00:14:24 00:14:28 from january 23rd
00:14:25 00:14:30 to 30th why do i mention this now it's
00:14:28 00:14:33 because if you want to
00:14:30 00:14:35 order inventory and be in stok in
00:14:33 00:14:37 january you've got to order that
00:14:35 00:14:38 like around october end of october early
00:14:37 00:14:40 november
00:14:38 00:14:42 so make sure you take that into account
00:14:40 00:14:43 now because when it comes time for
00:14:42 00:14:44 chinese new year your supplier is going
00:14:43 00:14:46 to be like
00:14:44 00:14:47 hey we're not open right now you should
00:14:46 00:14:50 have placed your order sooner
00:14:47 00:14:50 so definitely take note of that prime
00:14:50 00:14:52 day
00:14:50 00:14:54 so typically that's two days in the
00:14:52 00:14:56 month of july but because
00:14:54 00:14:57 of the covet pandemic they have
00:14:56 00:15:00 postponed it
00:14:57 00:15:02 and amazon has not yet announced the day
00:15:00 00:15:05 of when that's going to happen
00:15:02 00:15:05 so i think we are expecting that it's
00:15:05 00:15:09 going to be
00:15:05 00:15:11 in um october maybe october 5th
00:15:09 00:15:13 but that's tentative it's actually not
00:15:11 00:15:15 even announced so do take that into
00:15:13 00:15:18 consideration because prime day
00:15:15 00:15:20 is a great day for sales make sure that
00:15:18 00:15:22 you have some really good deals
00:15:20 00:15:23 for your amazon products so that you can
00:15:22 00:15:26 really
00:15:23 00:15:27 have a huge boost in sales black friday
00:15:26 00:15:30 is november 27th
00:15:27 00:15:31 and this is again a great day for sales
00:15:30 00:15:32 so you want to make sure that you're
00:15:31 00:15:34 going to be in stok for black friday
00:15:32 00:15:35 and cyber monday which is the following
00:15:34 00:15:37 monday
00:15:35 00:15:38 this year it's going to be november 30th
00:15:37 00:15:40 of 2020
00:15:38 00:15:42 and you're going to want to place your
00:15:40 00:15:46 inventory order so that you're in stok
00:15:42 00:15:47 for those uh two days around september

00:17:55 00:17:59 other sellers again the name of the game

00:18:00 00:18:03 and to differentiate yourself from other
00:18:02 00:18:04 people if everyone's selling the same

00:18:05 00:18:08 thing you're not really giving people a
00:18:06 00:18:10 reason to buy from you
00:18:08 00:18:11 and so find ways to differentiate your

00:18:11 00:18:15 and changing the photos can be one of
00:18:13 00:18:16 those ways you could also change some of

00:18:19 00:18:23 tap into the mind of the customer you

00:18:28 00:18:31 are they looking for gift wrapping maybe

00:18:31 00:18:35 mention it to them in the amazon listing
00:18:33 00:18:37 you guys can offer gift wrapping if you
00:18:35 00:18:38 sell with amazon fba
00:18:37 00:18:40 amazon will do the gift wrapping for you
00:18:38 00:18:42 you pay a fee it's perfectly fine i
00:18:40 00:18:44 would definitely recommend doing that
00:18:42 00:18:46 but you can also mention in your bullet
00:18:44 00:18:48 points that this is a great gift it's a
00:18:46 00:18:50 great gift for
00:18:48 00:18:51 kids or adults or whomever your target
00:18:50 00:18:53 audience is
00:18:51 00:18:55 so you definitely do want to modify your
00:18:53 00:18:57 listing and also
00:18:55 00:18:59 change some of the keywords add in some
00:18:57 00:19:02 keywords like
00:18:59 00:19:03 gifts for gifts for girlfriends or gifts

00:19:03 00:19:06 sons or whatever it is again it depends
00:19:05 00:19:08 on what you're selling
00:19:06 00:19:09 but a lot of people will be searching

00:19:09 00:19:13 during the holiday season so keep that
00:19:11 00:19:14 in mind because if that's what they're

00:19:51 00:19:54 so it's a great way to kind of pass pass
