Hey everyone, it's Coren from Speedycom and in today's tutorial, we're going to learn how to add a product automatically to your Shopify store's cart. This feature is great for offering free products or for adding upsells to your orders. Let's get started!

Steps:

1. Copy the code provided in the tutorial and paste it at the bottom of your theme's cart.liquid file.

2. Customize the code to suit your needs, selecting whether you want to add the upsell product automatically or only for specific products.

3. Choose the product for which you want to add the upsell by copying the URL portion of the product.

4. Test the feature by adding the selected product to your cart and seeing the upsell product automatically added.

5. Customize the code further by selecting a specific variant of the upsell product to be added to the cart.

Tips:

- This feature only works with a cart page, not a mini cart.

Introducing the Automatic Gift Feature in the Automatic Discount App

Hey guys, I'm excited to announce a new feature in the Automatic Discount App. It's called Automatic Gift! Finally, you'll see this badge Automatic Gift when you create a new rule.

How It Works

- When you create a new rule, you will select Gift here and you will select one product - a single variant product or one variant of a product with multiple variants.

- You'll tick the box Automatically add the gift to cart. It comes with some restrictions.

- You will have to select a specific product inside the rule.

- You could also make it a number of items of a specific collection.

- If people have one unit of this product, they will get another one for free. That will actually achieve the goal of a buy one get one free automatically added to cart without the need of adding both products to discount one at 100.

Limitations of the Buy X Get Y Discount in Shopify

That's kind of the limitation of the buy X get Y discount in Shopify which requires you to get to have X and Y in cart to be able to have Y free. In this example, I only have X which is this one in cart and then the free product which is the other one is automatically added to cart.

Settings

There are some specific settings new to the Automatic Gift feature and you can edit them there in global settings.

If you go to checkout, you should get one free if you buy one. The app auto-generated a discount code that you can actually see inside your Shopify screen unchecked Shopify discount code.
