How to Setup a Website for Your Clothing Brand | Setting Up a Shopify Store for Your Clothing Brand

what's up? my name is rich. welcome back to another video. in this video right here, we're going to tok about using shopify for your clone brand website. this isn't going to be a step-by-step tutorial. however, we're going to go into a few of the steps, uh, reason being that it's not step by step. eventually, i may make a step-by-step video. reason why it's not step by step is because there's thousands of step-by-step videos on youtube already, and that might be one of the problems when it comes to building a website is that you're always depending on some kind of step-by-step tutorial. however, the best way to learn is just sign up, start clicking around and then use google, because it's not until you tackle it and try to click around and then mess up. that's whenever you start formulating these questions, so that you know what to look up. so one of the first things you want to do is either go to godaddycom, go to namecheapcom, go to whatever domain platform you want to use and purchase your website. now i believe godaddy and namecheap. they both have integrated systems and are familiar with shopify. i'm not too sure of other ones, but the reason i'm mentioning this is because it's easy to set up your shopify website and connect it to the domain. that way, you have your own domain name instead of using a my shopify domain. now, once you purchase your domain, go ahead and set up a shopify website. just go ahead and go with the cheapest one if you're on a budget, and i believe it is a 14 day free trial. so go ahead and sign up once you're in. one of the first things you want to do is go ahead and type in your credit card information because, uh, in order to make your website go live, there's a little section- see, i don't even know where it's at. i believe it's in preferences. yeah, it's in. if we're looking over here on the sales channel on the left side, it says preference and then you scroll all the way down. you get this page right here. so let's say enable password. that means as soon as somebody goes to your domain, your website, it's going to say enable password. and you can't. they can't log in, they can't view it. in order to disable the password, you have to type in your credit card information. and now i'm going to take a quick look at domains. if you don't want to buy it on, like namecheap or anything else, you can buy here- they should have their own platform to purchase a domain. so you could go ahead and do it right here. but if anything, you can click a connect existing domain and everything's pretty easy nowadays. it will just ask you to log into your name- cheap- or your go daddy account and it'll pretty much automatikally do it for you. now, just the beauty of tiknology. nowadays it needs to be way more difficult. but anyways, we're going to head on over to our theme, and this is pretty much what gives our whole website the look, the feel, the whole visual, everything. it's pretty much right here in the theme, and the theme that i'm using is debut, which is a stok free theme from shopify. you can upgrade at a later point in time whenever you start getting some sales, but this right here is good enough for you. now i'm gonna go ahead and start with a debut theme, fresh. that way you guys can get an idea of it and click explore free themes and check it out. there's a handful of themes. a lot of them looks a lot better than other ones. um, so we have brooklyn minimal. i believe i've used brooklyn before. once again, just click through, see which ones you like. but for the most part, we're just going to go ahead and hit debut, and then there's two different styles: there's light and there's default. i'm not too sure which one we're using, but i'm going to click default. add theme to library. all right, now it's loading up right here in our theme library. once you are done with this, though, all you have to do is click actions and hit publish, and that will make you the actual theme that you see on your website whenever you type in your domain, so i'm just gonna go ahead and click customize. all right, so this is gonna be the first thing you see right here. however, um, those web links might not be there. that is something you have to do on a different section. however, here we have the header. that's just exactly where we're going to start with. we're gonna hit select image. go ahead and click on your logo. click select image. you're going to click upload. click on your logo. alright, now we have our logo uploaded, and then we're just going to click select now. check that out. now we can change the custom width of the actual logo. if you make it any larger, make sure the actual image is already high quality, but you do want to make sure that you keep your images into the like correct size of the website as well, because this is going to affect the loading times of the customer's experience. so also an easy way to kind of guesstimate the size that you're going to want to use, because everything on screen is relative to pixels and not necessarily like inches like we use for print. all you have to do on the macbook is like hit command, shift 4 and then go ahead and get a quick screenshot. this is going to give you your pixels of the image and then we're going to click that and drag it on over to photoshop, so that pretty much gives us an idea of the exact size that we want to make the logo. that way it's pretty efficient for the customer to view your website and still have everything downloaded to their phone or desktop in a fast manner. so now that we have that, we can play with the size, make it how we want it. we can make it in the left, in the center. you know, we're just gonna have fun right now. now we have our menu. that's pretty much right here. that's all of our text links. so let me go ahead and go back so i can show you where to change this as well. i'm gonna hit on shopify. so this right here is in navigation. you can click add menu right here, main menu, and this is where you create all of your different uh pages, wherever it's gonna go to. if you click on shop- all that's the second link that i have- i click edit. that pretty much just uh. that pretty much just shows all of the products, right? if you do current giveaway, this clicks edit and this goes to a page called current giveaway. um, in order to create a separate type of page without your products, you just go on over here to the left side where it says pages, so you can make different web pages there. but anyways, let's go back. so that's how you get that right there. um, you can hit main menu and you can make different types of navigations. so if i click back right here, see, we have a footer menu. that's the one that goes on the bottom of the website. so if you wanted to have a different uh type of navigation right here, see, i just click footer menu and this is typically the one that goes on the bottom, but of course we're going to use this one up top. exit. all, right, now we hit show announcement. so that pretty much shows this area right here. typically, you can do something like: free shipping on orders over fifty dollars. news code: ship it- right, so we could do something like that. we could also link it to a separate page. so somebody clicked on it and go to: like, it'll go to a page that you created, um, that possibly has something to do with free shipping. or like a page that's on sale, like. uh, we can do something like click to get today's special and then we can link it to a product that's on sale for only today. right, so we could do that. um, theme settings: this is where you add your twitter links, your facebook link, all of that, and that's gonna be added to the bottom of the website. now we're gonna hit back: uh, image with text overlay. so this is going to be your banner right here. uh, select image. of course you're going to want to make these images, uh, certain sizes. so, like i said, when i'm using shopify, i still use google because i'm not an expert, so you know what i would do. i would go on google type in shopify debut theme, image sizes, and you'll pretty much find a way to make your size here, the first one that pops up: 1200 by 2000 pixels, so i'm gonna h.

How This Clean Shopify Store Made $100M+...

yo, what up? everybody ari here and welcome back to another video. so when we think of 100 million dollar plus brands, or even, let's say, people worth over 100 million dollars, or even billionaires, we think of people like jeff bezos or elon musk, who have innovated and created insane tiknologies. but let's not forget that one of the richest people in the world is bernard arnault, who is the chairman and ceo of lvmh, which is the largest luxury goods company in the world, with names such as louis vuitton, which i'm sure some of you guys have heard of. so point is, fashion is a huge space, so in today's video, i wanted to do a short little case study on a fashion brand that i believe has some amazing design that we can learn from and a few marketing tactiks that they use that i think are really smart. now, if you don't have your own e-commerce business, don't worry. i'm sure you can still get a lot of inspiration from this video, but, of course, if you are an e-commerce store owner, this will be insanely valuable. so, without further ado, let's get right into it. so, as you can see, the brand that we're discussing today is called baller, and the reason i mentioned the 100 million dollar valuations is because when i did a little bit of research, i found that that is their estimated web sales. now, the thing about this brand is that they've been around since 2013, so they have a little bit over seven years, so they've been in business for a relatively long amount of time, but if you really think about it, that's not that long and it's really insane to think that a brand of this age is already well over 100 million dollars deep in web sales. that's one tenth of a billion, but still considering the short amount of time that they've been a thing, i think that's obviously super impressive and definitely something to strive towards. now, what i really love about this brand is their design. so i've actually never shopped here before. i don't know exactly how good the quality of their products are, but if we take a look at their price tags, we can assume that a lot of their products have high craftsmanship, are very high quality and these i would definitely consider luxury goods. now, i really personally love this bag right here because the sky blue looks really dope. that's one of my favorite colors, but yeah, that price tag is a little concerning. however, as i mentioned, this store is absolutely killing it and i personally love the minimal design that they offer. it kind of makes the products speak for themselves and even though this is super expensive- and i personally probably wouldn't shop here- i could definitely see people who are very into luxury goods wanting to shop at a store like this. now, if we look at their instagram, they have over 1.2 million followers. that is an insanely big community, and they got the clean baller instagram handle and also the ballercom, which is super clean. i love when things are congruent like that with a brand. i think people underlook the value of having just a really clean name on your instagram and a clean domain name. it's definitely something worth investing into, because it's really difficult to actually get a name like this nowadays and if you are lucky enough to have a name like this, then that's definitely going to give you some competitive advantage for your brand, especially if you're in the fashion space, where you know instagram is kind of the biggest source of traffic. i would guess for most of these brands, instagram is kind of the place for fashion. but they are also posting a ton on tik tok, so that's something that i actually didn't expect. they're posting a lot of different videos on tiktok, which is really cool. i never really expected a brand like this to be honing in on tiktok. because of their price range, with their products being like 300 plus, i don't see a lot of the tiktok demographic necessarily shopping there, but i guess, what do i know? you know it's clearly working for them and you know this video that they have has over 128 000 views. so, honestly, tiktok is starting to become like the place to be for brands. so that's pretty cool and definitely something noteworthy. so i i think this is smart of them. i think this is a way for them to appeal to a younger crowd and drive a lot of traffic to their store that they otherwise wouldn't be getting, and chances are they're getting this traffic for free and organically. i don't know the type of ads that they're running on here, but i think that's really cool. now, to be completely honest with you, i really do like their page. it's super simple, but it's really nothing that special. you could set something like this up literally with the brooklyn theme on shopify, which is free. so it kind of goes to show that simplicity, at the end of the day, is best like. invest in some good product photography, clean up your website, make it simple and easy to understand and let your products speak for themselves, of course, unless the product needs a ton of explanation. but i personally love websites like this and it's why i'm really drawn to these websites and why i wanted to share them with you, because i just really love minimal, simple design like this. now, if we go to their facebook ad library, we see something a little bit different. i mean, you can see that they're actually running a ton of ads. so look at all these different ads that they're running. they're running these pictures. they're running these videos with no sound. it's literally just these like still images. they're running these carousel ads. so they are testing out a lot of different things. honestly, i feel like, when it comes to e-commerce, like 99 of brands run ads. now, if you do have a brand and you have no idea how to actually do this, how to run these sorts of ads, i actually have a full tutorial that i made. it goes very in depth and very step by step. for someone that literally has zero knowledge. it'll take you from zero to one. it's nothing extremely advanced or anything, but it's going to allow you to run ads like this. so if you want to do that, make sure you check that out. so, overall, i think there's a lot to learn from this brand. they've built an amazing community. they have a very simple setup, but it's so clean and congruent that it just really draws you in and makes you want to buy something. i'm kind of digging this vest. i don't think i'm going to buy it, but i actually do think it's pretty dope. let me know what you guys think in the comments. i would love to know your opinion on this now before i leave. i do have a special announcement that i wanted to share with you guys. so i recently created a discord server for my netsphere community. the netsuite community is my e-commerce course that i created a community out of, and we recently introduced this discord server. we even added like a little meme section on here, as you can see, an investment section and just a ton of really cool stuff. honestly, i'm super hyped on this community. so yeah, shameless plug. i just wanted to show you this. if you were interested, or if you are a netsphere member and you don't know about this yet, then make sure you go sign up, because we've been having a ton of fun in here and i would love to see some of you guys in there as well. but, with that being said, i really appreciate your time. i hope that you enjoyed this video and, if you did, make sure you subscribe for more and drop a like. but with that said, i hope you guys have a wonderful rest of your day and i'll see you in my next video. peace.

How To Design A Shopify Store Like a PRO (& Sell More!)

if you don't spend the time and effort on crafting a nicely designed Shopify store, you can forget about making sales with that store, because your store design is something practikally everyone sees before they purchase your product and it's also what they use to navigate to that important checkout page. so in this video i'll go over the exact store design, layout and design essentials you need to know about, with examples, so you're able to skyrocket your shopify sales. so the best way to show you the must-have shopify design essentials to implement in your own store is to just simply show you on screen. so the first store we'll deep dive into is a store called aloe yoga. so getting stuck into it on screen, here i'm gonna go through uh, why the store is great, and a few more examples other than this store. but before we get started, let's quickly check using this wapalyzer tool here that it's actually a shopify store. so you can see here that it is indeed indeed a shopify store and this tool, by the way, highly recommend that you use it and grab it. it's completely free and you can install it as a chrome extension. it gives you a whole load of back-end data on basically any website. so to get started, as you can see, the home page is very clean. it's product centered and below here you can immediately see that they have the instagram social proof and then the best seller alerts. so really simple and clean store. it's a large product catalog so it needs to be as clean as possible, simply because there's so much display here. but i want to show you what they do so well. if you look at their product catalog right here, which is just the yoga mat, you can see that there's a consistency with their product imagery, so they don't have, you know, like, um, like a whole load of different product shots, but it's all the same product shot, but just with different variations in color. so this is something to be really wary of. if you have multiples of products or if you have variants or you have a large product catalog, it's really important that you display these items as clean as possible, and this can be achieved really simply through product imagery. and if we jump into one of these products as an example, the product page is even better in my opinion. so you don't see any product description on the side here, right, you just see the product imagery, the name, the price, the variations and simply add to bag. but if you do need more information about the product, like most of us do, we're likely going to scroll down below, above the fold. so this is where you get the description, the fit, etc. etc. but this is a really, really nice and clean setup of the product page. and what i really like about this store as well is that they include videos within their product images. so you know, this is not a requirement, but as you grow, i think this is something that most stores should look into and it's really easy to implement. on your own shopify store, you can easily upload just a video into the image catalog. i think one of the things that you'll notike really quickly with the examples i'm giving you today is that the product images is a core element of all stores. now i understand like it can be really expensive to take images, get a photographer and get really professional photos. so i want to show you a quick hack, and i've recommended playset many times, but it is so essential for a lot of the stores that i run and the businesses that i run. this is a such a simple way to grab images and mockups and designs without needing to hire out, you know, a studio and a photographer and get it professionally edited, etc. etc. like you can immediately mock up a yoga mat as an example, um, and upload that immediately and it looks superb. so i've just uploaded this logo here as an example. this is our logo and i'm just going to click crop and you can see that it immediately adds onto this yoga mat and you can change the background to be transparent. you can change background to be, you know, green teal, whatever it might be, and this in itself is going to save you so so much time. so place. it is a huge integral part to really quick mock-ups, um, and it doesn't need to be a yoga mat. obviously. they have a whole load of different products that you can mock up. if this is a tool that you're interested in, i'll drop a 15 off code down in the description box below for you to check out. moving on to the next store: now this is chaos. it is an advanced print on demand store. it's pretty straightforward, ridiculously simple and clean. one element that i really appreciate is that they have a floating transparent header on top. so if we scroll down, you see the section up here with their logo and the hamburger menu here. if we scroll down, it's stiky, it follows you, it shows you, you know where you're at: the brand, the cart, the quick search button and the hamburger menu- incredibly simple but important. these things all add up to how to create a really enjoyable uh store experience. the ugc here, which is the user generate generated content, is a big, big part of this store. so under here you can see that they have a almost instagram like feed of different products and also user generated content in this section. it depends on the type of product that you're planning to sell, but ugc is so incredibly important, really easy way to show off your product and create that social proof. big part of this is personalization. it's having your initials on these phone cases. so, um, let's jump into this product here. this is such a simple product page. uh, it's a step, step-by-step process because it is all about customization and print on demand. you select your case size, whether it's a 12 pro max or whatever it might be, your case color, your initials, you type it in and i should update on the fly. i think, yeah. so having a preview and having a mock-up of your product is again so important. i just mentioned this, but it is so, so important. and if you're wondering: how do you get this step-by-step customization process? well, there's a lot of different approaches you can take when it comes to that, but one of the options that i recommend is infinite options, which is a very easy solution where you just install this app and you get a whole bunch of different options that you can customize. there's actually a free way to achieve this if you're a bit adventurous and you want to learn how to code. so this is an example store that i found where they use liquid coding to get all these custom attributes and features in. so if you are experienced with coding, or liquid coding specifically, and you want to save a few dollars every month, then this is a great approach too. i'll probably leave a link on how to achieve that. going back to the store now, you can see it is step-by-step process up the top and really there's nothing distracting you here. it is again just focused on adding to bag. that is it. if you want to read more, there is a waterfall function here where you can see the different details and delivery, returns and whatnot. contrary to popular belief, you don't need a long essay about your product, especially if it's a very simple product like a phone case. there's not all too much to say about it. you don't need to sell it too hard and you know tok about how fancy the materials are and what not. like chances are it's not going to be like. you need to rely on other things like customization, user generate content, marketing off the store. all that good stuff, and really the product page, is to be focused on simply just getting the sale, getting people to add to bag and enjoying that seamless transition from adding to bag to check out and that is it. so moving on to the next option here: nerd wax. this is a great example that i want to show you because we're moving on to a one product store, the one product store.

so last week i got a pretty interesting dm. it was actually a dm from justin phillips. justin is one of the co-founders of a brand called support black colleges- support black colleges. for the past eight months, we've been doing bigger ever to support historically black colleges. we love this. this is a brand that's all about supporting black education and bringing awareness to the amazing hbcus out there. him and his team have started a crazy movement. they're making millions of dollars a year with this company. they've gained hundreds of thousands of followers and they've collabed with countless celebrities and even got their clothes in nba 2k. so i decided to fly out to atlanta and tok with justin to see how he built this business, and my flight's actually leaving soon, so let's go all right, guys. so we just got to atlanta and now we're about to head over to justin's warehouse and see how he runs his business. so let's go all right, guys. we just got to the support black college's warehouse, or this is my boy, justin, right here. i want you guys to meet this guy, so introduce yourself to the people. yeah, i'm justin phillips, one of the co-founders of a business called support black colleges, and our main goal is to inspire, uplift and raise awareness for our hbcus, and if you don't know what hbcu is, it's a historically black college or university. so that's what we're all about here, man, yeah, this brand is doing extremely well and today we're going to kind of break down what they're doing and how he's running this operation so you guys can get some inspiration for starting your own online business. [Music]. all right, bro, so let me know a little bit about how you got started with this business, because you've been running this for how long? yeah, we started in 2012.. so a little, a little while now. yeah, yeah, you went to hbcu. yeah, so i went to howard university and actually i wasn't a part of the original founding of the business. so my business partner and his cousin- they started it together. right, i was just a friend, i wanted to help out, i had a digital media background and that was my thing. so i made them a twitter, instagram, got him a few hundred followers and then partikipated in the first photo shoot and you know, i just kind of let them do their thing. i did my own thing. then, a few years later, my partner- currently his name is corey- he was like, hey, dude, let's, let's pick this up, let's take it seriously because we kind of let it fall off, yeah. and then i jumped into the business, brought the facebook, instagram as google, youtube and digital strategy, and then that's when we really started to take off about two and a half years ago. so where are you guys at now? i know you're doing collaborations with nba and all these celebrities tok to me about this position you're in now. yeah, now we're just fresh off the doing the nba all-star game, so we had the opportunity to make all of the gear for all of the all-stars. so you know lebron, steph giannis, all of those guys, and then i mean i can't even name any influencers. that warned myself. you know zion and missy elliott and chris paul and rick ross, like all of these people. so now you know we're just trying to scale it up. yeah, i know it takes a lot to run a brand like this. bro, let's tok about kind of a day-to-day of running this business and maybe show me around the warehouse on what you do. yeah, sure, all right, let's do it all right. [Music]. so first thing you do when you get to the office each day: oh man, i sit down, check my to-do list, check in with the staff and then i just get to it. bro, check out the on, let's go- jordan. thank you, man, nice to meet you. great operation, you got here, bro, thank you. thank you, no thanks to him. all right, so now we're in my office and we can meet the team. so we got my boy, tim. he's the coldest in the game with the camera. he does all of our creative direction, all of our social media content. he's that guy. and then you got corey, the less attractive one of our collectors, and he's my business partner, co-founder of the business. so that's my guy next up. after you do that, what's the next step? what goes on out here? yeah, i'll probably pull out my laptop, start designing some stuff, check on our inventory. go check in with my blood brother, jason- he's running a business with us- and just kind of see how orders are doing if we're shipping everything on time, stuff like that. yeah, we gotta check out the shipping operation over there. we got a ton of units, so it gets serious over there. [Music]. this is the warehouse, right? oh, yeah, this is where it is. taught me through some of this man, how does it run? how do you work this? yeah, so this is all of our inventory all up against the wall. you got small, medium, large, xl all the way up to 5x and we use a program called finale inventory to make sure we're tracking everything properly. we use ship station to ship all the orders. but- and this is everything right here? yeah, so with these hoodies, how do you get them made? yeah, so, right now we get the patches from overseas and they're a chanel patch with the adhesive backing and then we heat, press them onto the hoodie and then we sew them down just so they don't go anywhere. but we order the blanks either from somewhere overseas as well or we usually will do a united states-based um inventory supplier. so, yeah, there's a ton of people in my comments and my dms that want to do clothing bro. that's like one of the number one things if you want to start. what's the number one tip for somebody that wants to do clothing bro? i know it's a tough industry, yeah, and that's tough. i think the most important part is just like figuring out what type of person you are as an entrepreneur, because there's so many different ways to make money in this space. you can do high volume, low tiket you can do. you know exclusive drops, you can do any type of business. so it really just depends on who you are as a person, what type of stress level you're willing to take and what amount of time you're willing to put and how much money you want to make. so depending on the answers to those questions is going to tell you whether you should do print on demand or screen printers or drop shipping- a bunch of different things. so i understand understanding yourself and creating a business that's in line with those values- exactly that goes a long way. hey, man, it's the key. yeah, [Music]. all right, bro. so there's a lot of entrepreneurs out there that are brand new. they're probably super motivated by your story. tok them through the starting phases of your journey, though, because i know you weren't like this from the start. you had to come from somewhere, right, oh man? yeah, i like to attribute most of it to my mom. i was raised in a single parent household, so my mom was grinding it out. she was, um, doing it during the day, and then she was doing like bottle service at night, and then she was also a real estate agent as well. so seeing her kind of grind and trying to put me through school and all that stuff alone kind of. i guess, gave me that in your blood, man. it had to have been, because my um, she was started doing the real, doing real estate- at her day job and then they fired her because she was doing it on the computers and whatnot. so then i would ask for things and she would be like, well, you need to go make you some money? yeah it. so i'm from houston, so i wanted a grill, like paul wall and like water. so i started selling candy as my first business and then two, three days i made a couple hundred dollars and then got my first grill. and then the third day they called me into the office and was like you can't do this, and they poured all of my candy out in the trash right in front of my face. so that was like my first experience of rejection. so then you kind of, you know, grow up, try different things here and there, try drop shipping- i wasn't very good at it- tried affiliate marketing, just all these other internet businesses, but all those failures just gave me exposure to online marketing in general and i used all of the knowledge from buying books and

but it will not define the success of your business, even if you're running a one-man show. writing a business plan is going to be essential for being clear about your goals and being able to manifest them, and when you're ready to raise an investor is going to want to see how feasible your business idea is before funding it. when you're writing a business plan, you'll want to separate it into eight separate sections. the first section is the executive summary. the executive summary overviews everything that you have in your business plan into one page. the next section is the company identity is more than just the design of your collections and your logo. think of your brand identity as an intricate personality. you've got a photography style, your collections, the way your website looks, the branding, your sustainability statement- all of these things combined together really help create your brand identity. here are four components to start out with when you're that you're vetting the right candidate. coming up with a concept behind a clothing line or figuring out how a product is going to look can feel super daunting, especially when you're just staring at a blank canvas. many creatives will get inspired by fashion throughout history, or they'll take an existing idea and add their own twist. pick up the book called a tiknique for producing new ideas by william burnback. it's about an hour-long read and it guides you through five simple steps on how you can produce new ideas. every time that i pick this up and read it, i always have new ideas flying
