00:00:29 00:00:33 selling them and earning income before
00:00:31 00:00:36 ever having to invest in the tiknology
00:00:33 00:00:38 or any specific software which is great
00:00:36 00:00:41 and before we get in I just want to
00:00:38 00:00:43 cover the prerequisite to launching an
00:00:41 00:00:46 online course and the theory is that you
00:00:43 00:00:48 already know exactly how to help other
00:00:46 00:00:50 people get a very specific result now
00:00:48 00:00:51 what does this result well that's what
00:00:50 00:00:53 your course is about right it could be
00:00:51 00:00:55 anything it could be how to podcast it
00:00:53 00:00:57 could be how to quilt it could be how to
00:00:55 00:01:00 knitting it could be how to build a shed
00:00:57 00:01:02 it could be how to hit a golf drive 200
00:01:00 00:01:04 yards there's a lot of different things
00:01:02 00:01:05 that you could be teaching people how do
00:01:04 00:01:07 you know what to teach them well number
00:01:05 00:01:09 one you should already have been able to
00:01:07 00:01:10 create this result for yourself and
00:01:09 00:01:13 number two you should have already
00:01:10 00:01:15 worked with individuals one-on-one
00:01:13 00:01:18 coaching whatever type sessions you do
00:01:15 00:01:21 to help other people get this result the
00:01:18 00:01:22 key here is that you actually can help
00:01:21 00:01:24 people get a result that's when you're
00:01:22 00:01:26 ready to lay out an online course that's
00:01:24 00:01:28 when you're ready to scale your kind of
00:01:26 00:01:29 online business so make sure you honor
00:01:28 00:01:31 the fact that you need to be able to
00:01:29 00:01:33 actually help people get results with
00:01:31 00:01:35 that said let's jump on the whiteboard
00:01:33 00:01:38 here on my computer and let's map this
00:01:35 00:01:41 all out so I use what's called a three
00:01:38 00:01:42 by three matrix which essentially in its
00:01:41 00:01:46 kind of simplest form is just a
00:01:42 00:01:48 tik-tac-toe box to be honest and you can
00:01:46 00:01:49 modify from this this is the starting
00:01:48 00:01:52 point you don't have to follow this
00:01:49 00:01:53 exactly if yours has four phases that's
00:01:52 00:01:55 okay if you have five lessons in one of
00:01:53 00:01:57 them that's okay but generally down the
00:01:55 00:01:59 left side we have the different phases
00:01:57 00:02:02 and then up here we have the different
00:01:59 00:02:04 modules okay
00:02:02 00:02:07 so we would have phase 1 phase 2 phase 3
00:02:04 00:02:09 and then we would have modules 1 2 and 3
00:02:07 00:02:12 but it works to where you got modules 1
00:02:09 00:02:13 2 3 on phase 1 after phase 1 they're
00:02:12 00:02:16 ready for phase
00:02:13 00:02:16 so goes module four module five module
00:02:16 00:02:18 six
00:02:16 00:02:20 after that they hit phase three which is
00:02:18 00:02:22 module seven eight nine now this is
00:02:20 00:02:24 totally abstract I get it I have a real
00:02:22 00:02:26 example we're gonna be working through
00:02:24 00:02:28 here but you need to understand this
00:02:26 00:02:29 philosophy first that you're helping
00:02:28 00:02:31 people go through a series of phases and
00:02:29 00:02:33 in each of those phases there's
00:02:31 00:02:35 different modules and these are the
00:02:33 00:02:37 milestones so this is the prerequisite
00:02:35 00:02:39 to part two and part two is the
00:02:37 00:02:41 prerequisite to part three and you got
00:02:39 00:02:43 to have phase one done before you can
00:02:41 00:02:45 start phase two which you go to number
00:02:43 00:02:47 four and so on and so forth is this
00:02:45 00:02:49 making sense let me go ahead and clear
00:02:47 00:02:51 the screen here so we can jump into an
00:02:49 00:02:53 actual real-world example because I want
00:02:51 00:02:55 you to see how this is gonna work in a
00:02:53 00:02:57 real-world example so starting a social
00:02:55 00:03:01 media marketing agency is what I'm gonna
00:02:57 00:03:03 use as the example here so SMM a so if
00:03:01 00:03:05 somebody wants to start a social media
00:03:03 00:03:07 marketing agency I've had extreme
00:03:05 00:03:08 success with social media marketing we
00:03:07 00:03:10 reach millions of people each every
00:03:08 00:03:13 month from social media and I've run a
00:03:10 00:03:14 very successful agency before so so I
00:03:13 00:03:16 have the expertise I know how to teach
00:03:14 00:03:18 people how to do this which is the
00:03:16 00:03:20 prerequisite so then we have the three
00:03:18 00:03:24 phases okay so I'm just gonna write out
00:03:20 00:03:27 the phases first so phase one is how it
00:03:24 00:03:29 works now this is like the foundation of
00:03:27 00:03:31 everything right I can't teach somebody
00:03:29 00:03:32 how to start a social media marketing
00:03:31 00:03:34 agency if they don't understand how
00:03:32 00:03:36 social media marketing works right
00:03:34 00:03:39 that's the very first part number two is
00:03:36 00:03:41 to create a result now again this is
00:03:39 00:03:43 specific to what I'm doing you have to
00:03:41 00:03:44 come up with your different phases and
00:03:43 00:03:46 we're gonna map out the modules from
00:03:44 00:03:48 here in a moment so how to create a
00:03:46 00:03:51 result there's for themselves and for
00:03:48 00:03:53 others because if someone hasn't gone
00:03:51 00:03:56 and built an Instagram of following up
00:03:53 00:03:58 to 50,000 followers or built a Facebook
00:03:56 00:04:01 fan page up to 250,000 fans or whatever
00:03:58 00:04:03 that result is created a successful
00:04:01 00:04:04 Facebook advertising campaign then how
00:04:03 00:04:06 would they help someone else do it so
00:04:04 00:04:08 phase 2 is about helping them get the
00:04:06 00:04:09 experience learning how to create a
00:04:08 00:04:10 result because that's what they're
00:04:09 00:04:12 selling as a social media marketing
00:04:10 00:04:15 agency and the number three would be how
00:04:12 00:04:17 to sell right and this is so key for an
00:04:15 00:04:18 agency this is what what takes you from
00:04:17 00:04:20 somebody who understands social media
00:04:18 00:04:22 marketing to actually having an agency
00:04:20 00:04:24 how to sell it and then probably
00:04:22 00:04:27 systematize delivery
00:04:24 00:04:28 okay so these are my phases these are
00:04:27 00:04:30 the different pieces that I'm gonna have
00:04:28 00:04:32 to teach them and again you might have
00:04:30 00:04:34 four phases and that's fine it works
00:04:32 00:04:35 really well when you have three by three
00:04:34 00:04:37 because if you're doing ten minute
00:04:35 00:04:38 videos for each module if you get ten
00:04:37 00:04:40 minutes you know you could break it up
00:04:38 00:04:42 to have a three to four and a half hour
00:04:40 00:04:44 course but some things in life take
00:04:42 00:04:46 longer than that to learn so let it be a
00:04:44 00:04:48 function of what they actually need to
00:04:46 00:04:50 get the result how do I know these are
00:04:48 00:04:52 the phases well number one again I went
00:04:50 00:04:53 through the process myself to create the
00:04:52 00:04:55 result my wife and I reach millions of
00:04:53 00:04:56 people I've taught dozens if not
00:04:55 00:04:59 hundreds of people how to grow large
00:04:56 00:05:01 audiences email lists and businesses
00:04:59 00:05:03 based on social media marketing so I now
00:05:01 00:05:05 have a system that I use that I've
00:05:03 00:05:06 duplicated through other people and
00:05:05 00:05:09 that's what I'm teaching here is a
00:05:06 00:05:11 system okay so let's clear the screen
00:05:09 00:05:13 since I scribbled all over it yet again
00:05:11 00:05:15 and let's get it down into the actual
00:05:13 00:05:17 matrix so now we're gonna do the matrix
00:05:15 00:05:20 so number one is we're gonna call
00:05:17 00:05:22 foundation and I covered these right
00:05:20 00:05:25 these are the phases so then number two
00:05:22 00:05:27 is the result and I probably come with
00:05:25 00:05:30 better names here and then three is cell
00:05:27 00:05:35 okay so those are the phases and then I
00:05:30 00:05:37 have my three components off of each so
00:05:35 00:05:40 I'm gonna draw two lines down like this
00:05:37 00:05:42 now what are my different modules for
00:05:40 00:05:45 these okay so the first one is which
00:05:42 00:05:46 platform so the foundation they need to
00:05:45 00:05:47 know what the different platforms are
00:05:46 00:05:49 right Instagram there's a snapchat
00:05:47 00:05:50 versus Facebook versus tik-tok versus
00:05:49 00:05:52 whatever I have to cover all of those
00:05:50 00:05:55 things the Pinterest of the world etc
00:05:52 00:05:57 then there's paid versus organic okay
00:05:55 00:06:00 and then the last one is vanity metrics
00:05:57 00:06:02 versus ROI and you make sure they don't
00:06:00 00:06:03 get focused on the fifty thousand
00:06:02 00:06:04 Instagram followers for the sake of
00:06:03 00:06:06 having fifty thousand Instagram
00:06:04 00:06:09 followers because if I don't bring an
00:06:06 00:06:10 ROI it's worth nothing which is very
00:06:09 00:06:12 very common in the world of Instagram
00:06:10 00:06:14 okay so I need to teach that so these
00:06:12 00:06:17 are my different modules okay this is
00:06:14 00:06:19 module one module two module three here
00:06:17 00:06:22 in this situation now each of these
00:06:19 00:06:24 modules are going to have sub lessons
00:06:22 00:06:26 okay this is not one video each it could
00:06:24 00:06:28 be but the odds are there's gonna be
00:06:26 00:06:29 three different sub lessons in each and
00:06:28 00:06:31 we'll tok about that more here but I
00:06:29 00:06:33 want to go deeper into the results now
00:06:31 00:06:36 so the on the results may be I think
00:06:33 00:06:37 that for social media marketing the best
00:06:36 00:06:39 place to focus is
00:06:37 00:06:42 on Instagram and Facebook and paid
00:06:39 00:06:43 traffic so result number one is IG for
00:06:42 00:06:45 Instagram I'm going to teach them
00:06:43 00:06:49 exactly how to get results on Instagram
00:06:45 00:06:52 number two is FB and number three is PPC
00:06:49 00:06:54 okay and maybe I decide that this is
00:06:52 00:06:56 better to be Pinterest whatever it is
00:06:54 00:06:58 right whatever that specifically is for
00:06:56 00:07:00 them for my to help my people get the
00:06:58 00:07:02 result that they want then how to sell
00:07:00 00:07:05 I'm gonna tok about my meetup group
00:07:02 00:07:07 process okay that's where you run a
00:07:05 00:07:09 local social media marketing meetup in
00:07:07 00:07:11 your local town you start teaching the
00:07:09 00:07:12 business owners you teach people what it
00:07:11 00:07:14 is and that just kind of naturally gets
00:07:12 00:07:16 people thinking hey you're an expert in
00:07:14 00:07:18 it and B they want to get the result and
00:07:16 00:07:20 they want you to do it for them okay so
00:07:18 00:07:23 that's the first thing I would teach and
00:07:20 00:07:25 then cold outreach maybe I got a system
00:07:23 00:07:26 on how to email how to get the email
00:07:25 00:07:28 addresses of local businesses etc and
00:07:26 00:07:31 then number three would be funnels in
00:07:28 00:07:33 PPC so right here I've got it all built
00:07:31 00:07:35 out and what happens at this point is
00:07:33 00:07:36 you pretty much just make it into a
00:07:35 00:07:38 little bit's your bingo card right so
00:07:36 00:07:40 you go in and you start mapping out all
00:07:38 00:07:41 the different lessons for each one and
00:07:40 00:07:43 when you have all of your lessons under
00:07:41 00:07:45 the modules you can cross them out when
00:07:43 00:07:47 you get these all recorded you can just
00:07:45 00:07:48 cross them out and this is how I keep
00:07:47 00:07:50 track and I'm gonna show you I got it
00:07:48 00:07:52 right here I know it's kind of small
00:07:50 00:07:54 right now but like so this is actually
00:07:52 00:07:56 what I'm working on for my people it's
00:07:54 00:07:57 an absolute mess and you can see that
00:07:56 00:07:59 some of them have like four different
00:07:57 00:08:00 modules in there and I'm just crossing
00:07:59 00:08:01 them out as I go and I'm kind of putting
00:08:00 00:08:04 a box around them when I have a mapped
00:08:01 00:08:06 out and I'm just mentally noting where
00:08:04 00:08:08 I'm at with each one as I build out this
00:08:06 00:08:12 greater curriculum so then what ends up
00:08:08 00:08:16 happening from here is you'll take a
00:08:12 00:08:19 specific module from here let's say this
00:08:16 00:08:21 is the FB module and then what is what
00:08:19 00:08:23 are the actual components under the FB
00:08:21 00:08:28 so then I'm like okay step one is
00:08:23 00:08:33 fanpage step two is pixel step three is
00:08:28 00:08:35 audiences step four is ads Step five is
00:08:33 00:08:39 landing page and there it is so now for
00:08:35 00:08:41 my FB module here I now know that for
00:08:39 00:08:44 this module I need all of these lessons
00:08:41 00:08:45 so this is lesson one two three lesson
00:08:44 00:08:47 four or lesson five though else four
00:08:45 00:08:50 lessons if you couldn't tell so what
00:08:47 00:08:52 we're doing here is we're leveraging a
00:08:50 00:08:54 matrix a simple kind of step-by-step so
00:08:52 00:08:56 we started with the phases right so it's
00:08:54 00:08:57 phase one I need to teach him how this
00:08:56 00:08:59 stuff works I need to give him the
00:08:57 00:09:01 fundamentals step two I need to teach
00:08:59 00:09:02 him how to get a result for themselves
00:09:01 00:09:04 so they can potentially get a result for
00:09:02 00:09:07 their clients it's the same process
00:09:04 00:09:09 right if I'm helping you get a Facebook
00:09:07 00:09:10 ad running that successful versus
00:09:09 00:09:12 helping you get a Facebook ad running
00:09:10 00:09:14 for someone else it's the same process
00:09:12 00:09:16 as the same ad platform it's the same
00:09:14 00:09:17 theory so as I teach you to get the
00:09:16 00:09:18 result you're learning what you need to
00:09:17 00:09:20 do to get them the result and then I
00:09:18 00:09:22 need to teach you how to sell and under
00:09:20 00:09:24 each of those there's different less
00:09:22 00:09:26 there's different modules right and
00:09:24 00:09:28 that's what goes into this section and
00:09:26 00:09:30 we work left to right so for the
00:09:28 00:09:32 foundation it was which platform papers
00:09:30 00:09:35 organic and the vanity and then once we
00:09:32 00:09:38 get all of the modules dialed we need to
00:09:35 00:09:40 work on the different lessons okay and
00:09:38 00:09:42 this is how you storyboard out your
00:09:40 00:09:45 course and it's a powerful way to
00:09:42 00:09:46 actually break down something complex
00:09:45 00:09:49 something large that might feel
00:09:46 00:09:52 overwhelming into a bunch of bite-sized
00:09:49 00:09:53 pieces so now you keep this piece your
00:09:52 00:09:55 bingo card if you will that's what I
00:09:53 00:09:57 call it call it what you want you keep
00:09:55 00:09:59 your bingo card around as your greater
00:09:57 00:10:01 roadmap that's the roadmap and then you
00:09:59 00:10:02 just go through and knock out the
00:10:01 00:10:05 different lessons now I prefer to make
00:10:02 00:10:07 video lessons because the system for
00:10:05 00:10:08 running and launching the courses works
00:10:07 00:10:10 perfectly with videos you can upload
00:10:08 00:10:11 them they host them there for you which
00:10:10 00:10:13 brings up the question of what do you do
00:10:11 00:10:15 once you have all these done okay so in
00:10:13 00:10:17 this situation I've got these are all
00:10:15 00:10:19 videos so this is video 1 video 2 video
00:10:17 00:10:21 3 so I got 5 videos here and if you
00:10:19 00:10:23 multiply that out let's say there's an
00:10:21 00:10:25 average of 4 videos per one of these
00:10:23 00:10:28 I've got what nine times four is gonna
00:10:25 00:10:30 be something like 36 videos total okay
00:10:28 00:10:31 then how do you actually lay this out in
00:10:30 00:10:33 a way that's going logical you need to
00:10:31 00:10:35 learn use what's called a learning
00:10:33 00:10:36 management system so in a learning
00:10:35 00:10:39 management system is going to actually
00:10:36 00:10:41 build a system to where you can lay all
00:10:39 00:10:43 of this out now personally I've really
00:10:41 00:10:45 been enjoying my wife and I use it's
00:10:43 00:10:47 called think if ik and if you go 2 miles

00:11:17 00:11:21 coming back to their lesson the system
00:11:19 00:11:22 will remember where they're at and it
00:11:21 00:11:23 will prompt them to go right back to
00:11:22 00:11:26 where they are so they can pick up
00:11:23 00:11:29 because again the whole point of selling
00:11:26 00:11:31 courses online the whole goal of putting
00:11:29 00:11:33 out courses online is to help your
00:11:31 00:11:35 audience get a result that they value
00:11:33 00:11:37 and when you're good at that you will
00:11:35 00:11:39 earn a lot of income too many people
00:11:37 00:11:42 think the goal of a course is to make
00:11:39 00:11:44 the income but as you really get good at
00:11:42 00:11:47 helping people get results that they
00:11:44 00:11:49 value in their lives income is the
00:11:47 00:11:52 byproduct because people are willing to
00:11:49 00:11:54 invest their money their hard earned
00:11:52 00:11:56 time that saved up that value in money
00:11:54 00:11:59 they will exchange that for the specific
00:11:56 00:12:02 result that they want so I've found that
00:11:59 00:12:04 selling online courses has amazing
00:12:02 00:12:05 margins it is a wonderful business model
00:12:04 00:12:08 it has helped my wife and I create
00:12:05 00:12:10 everything we've created in this world I
00:12:08 00:12:12 highly recommend it for you you can also
00:12:10 00:12:14 use this type of a system to build out a
00:12:12 00:12:16 greater membership program where each
00:12:14 00:12:18 month they might get access to a
00:12:16 00:12:20 different module with all of the
00:12:18 00:12:21 different lessons maybe you do it each
00:12:20 00:12:23 week they get access to a different
00:12:21 00:12:25 module with all of the different lessons
00:12:23 00:12:28 maybe you do a six week course where
00:12:25 00:12:30 they get one module a week for six
00:12:28 00:12:33 consecutive weeks if you had six modules
00:12:30 00:12:35 whatever it is be flexible right there's
00:12:33 00:12:38 no exact rigid way to do this I think
00:12:35 00:12:41 it's extremely helpful for people when
00:12:38 00:12:43 it's very cement symmetrical the three
00:12:41 00:12:44 by three it just makes it very easy for
00:12:43 00:12:45 people to understand where they're at
00:12:44 00:12:47 within the greater framework where
00:12:45 00:12:49 they're going and what they need to get
00:12:47 00:12:51 done but sometimes teaching things takes
00:12:49 00:12:52 a little bit more than that if you've
