00:00:01 00:00:04 digital oil wells
00:00:04 00:00:08 this mental model
00:00:06 00:00:10 or framework
00:00:08 00:00:12 is one of the most important lessons i
00:00:10 00:00:14 ever learned from kevin hutto
00:00:12 00:00:16 kevin hutto is a friend of mine he
00:00:14 00:00:19 passed away last year
00:00:16 00:00:21 we used to chat on zoom a lot
00:00:19 00:00:22 he's the most successful marketer you've
00:00:21 00:00:24 never heard of
00:00:22 00:00:27 he's the guru
00:00:24 00:00:29 behind the gurus
00:00:27 00:00:31 i guarantee you
00:00:29 00:00:33 that you've seen
00:00:31 00:00:35 some of the ads
00:00:33 00:00:38 and the gurus and the guru pitches that
00:00:35 00:00:40 he had a hand in because he literally
00:00:38 00:00:44 made the gurus he just never wanted to
00:00:40 00:00:45 really come out behind the scenes
00:00:44 00:00:46 he and i
00:00:45 00:00:49 through
00:00:46 00:00:51 a pretty random series of events started
00:00:49 00:00:55 hopping on zoom for a few hours every
00:00:51 00:00:55 week twice a week two hours a call
00:00:55 00:00:58 just toking
00:00:59 00:01:03 now one of the things i look for in this
00:01:01 00:01:06 world
00:01:03 00:01:06 are frameworks and mental models
00:01:07 00:01:12 this is why my time traveling i spent
00:01:09 00:01:14 five years as a full-time digital nomad
00:01:12 00:01:16 kind of like lived and bounced through
00:01:14 00:01:19 something like 25 countries 20 25
00:01:16 00:01:22 countries something like that
00:01:19 00:01:26 getting to see how other people live
00:01:22 00:01:26 was extremely valuable for me
00:01:26 00:01:33 so getting to tok with kevin hutto
00:01:31 00:01:36 and understanding how he sees the game
00:01:33 00:01:36 of business
00:01:36 00:01:42 was incredibly helpful
00:01:40 00:01:44 and the concept that you're learning
00:01:42 00:01:46 today that he taught me
00:01:44 00:01:49 is the idea of digital
00:01:46 00:01:49 oil wells
00:01:50 00:01:54 now this is a big picture idea
00:01:52 00:01:58 so in the puzzle analogy
00:01:54 00:01:58 right this is looking at the box
00:01:58 00:02:06 and it's important to have appropriate
00:02:01 00:02:06 frameworks and mental models that help
00:02:07 00:02:11 to help you have the pictures in your
00:02:09 00:02:14 mind of what you're creating
00:02:11 00:02:17 because the subconscious mind operates
00:02:14 00:02:17 on imagery
00:02:19 00:02:24 so an oil well why an oil well why is
00:02:22 00:02:26 this such a
00:02:24 00:02:30 great analogy for building a business
00:02:26 00:02:30 why is it such a great framework
00:02:31 00:02:34 and
00:02:32 00:02:36 what's the process it's a it's a
00:02:34 00:02:38 three-step process and we'll cover both
00:02:36 00:02:39 of those here for you today so you can
00:02:38 00:02:41 kind of get up to speed because i
00:02:39 00:02:43 guarantee you in the future i'm going to
00:02:41 00:02:45 be referencing
00:02:43 00:02:46 oil wells
00:02:45 00:02:49 saying things like oh that'd be a great
00:02:46 00:02:51 oil well
00:02:49 00:02:53 we already use this term this vernacular
00:02:51 00:02:55 in our business right when i'm toking
00:02:53 00:02:56 with sean my ad guy when my wife and i
00:02:55 00:02:58 are toking when we're looking at things
00:02:56 00:03:00 out in the world we're like oh man
00:02:58 00:03:01 that's a brilliant oil well right there
00:03:00 00:03:03 bingo
00:03:01 00:03:05 we're all on the same page we get what
00:03:03 00:03:05 that means
00:03:06 00:03:10 so
00:03:07 00:03:10 why oil
00:03:11 00:03:15 and he always started off with the jed
00:03:12 00:03:17 clampett and the beverly hillbillies
00:03:15 00:03:19 you know dudes out on his farm with a
00:03:17 00:03:21 shotgun he shoots at a rabbit misses the
00:03:19 00:03:23 rabbit hits the ground
00:03:21 00:03:24 gusher
00:03:23 00:03:26 black
00:03:24 00:03:28 gold
00:03:26 00:03:30 spewing
00:03:28 00:03:32 out of the ground
00:03:30 00:03:35 there's a little picture
00:03:32 00:03:35 for you
00:03:35 00:03:40 so the concept here is that oil
00:03:38 00:03:46 there's pressure
00:03:40 00:03:46 the oil actually wants out of the ground
00:03:46 00:03:51 your marketplace
00:03:48 00:03:55 your audience
00:03:51 00:03:56 there is already demand within your
00:03:55 00:04:01 audience
00:03:56 00:04:03 they already want to buy things
00:04:01 00:04:06 there's buying pressure
00:04:03 00:04:06 there
00:04:06 00:04:12 that you have to tap
00:04:09 00:04:16 and once you tap it and follow the three
00:04:12 00:04:19 steps it can just flow and flow and flow
00:04:16 00:04:19 and flow and flow
00:04:20 00:04:23 that's the big picture
00:04:25 00:04:29 and if you've listened to
00:04:27 00:04:31 my video where i taught the number one
00:04:29 00:04:34 marketing lesson
00:04:31 00:04:34 from breakthrough advertising
00:04:34 00:04:36 which
00:04:37 00:04:40 i'm just going to read you that passage
00:04:39 00:04:43 all right so this is straight out of
00:04:40 00:04:45 breakthrough advertising i'm quoting him
00:04:43 00:04:45 here
00:04:46 00:04:52 copy cannot create desire for a product
00:04:50 00:04:53 it can only take the hopes
00:04:52 00:04:55 dreams
00:04:53 00:04:57 fears and desires
00:04:55 00:05:00 that already exist
00:04:57 00:05:02 in the hearts of millions of people
00:05:00 00:05:04 and focus those
00:05:02 00:05:07 already existing desires
00:05:04 00:05:10 onto a partikular product
00:05:07 00:05:13 this is the copywriter's task not to
00:05:10 00:05:14 create the mass desire
00:05:13 00:05:17 but to channel
00:05:14 00:05:20 and direct it
00:05:17 00:05:23 he's saying the same thing
00:05:20 00:05:25 there's pressure
00:05:23 00:05:28 now this is opposed to the idea of a
00:05:25 00:05:28 gold mine
00:05:29 00:05:35 gold is always
00:05:32 00:05:37 trying to go deeper in the ground
00:05:35 00:05:38 it's heavy
00:05:37 00:05:40 it's one of the heaviest
00:05:38 00:05:43 minerals out there
00:05:40 00:05:46 or metals or whatever it tiknically is
00:05:43 00:05:47 not a geologist
00:05:46 00:05:50 but i know
00:05:47 00:05:52 that the gold over time is going farther
00:05:50 00:05:57 away from the surface it's trying to
00:05:52 00:05:57 work its way down onto the bedrock
00:05:59 00:06:04 it's running away from you
00:06:02 00:06:08 i don't want a business that requires me
00:06:04 00:06:11 to expend more energy and more effort to
00:06:08 00:06:11 get more gold
00:06:12 00:06:18 the gold rush of 1849 at sutter's mill
00:06:15 00:06:20 in the foothills of the sierra nevada
00:06:18 00:06:22 mountains
00:06:20 00:06:25 do you know how he found that first gold
00:06:22 00:06:27 that first nugget of gold that started
00:06:25 00:06:29 everything in 1849 the california gold
00:06:27 00:06:31 rush
00:06:29 00:06:34 his onions
00:06:31 00:06:37 dude literally went out to his garden
00:06:34 00:06:39 pulled up a bunch of onions and there
00:06:37 00:06:41 was a gold nugget hanging off the bottom
00:06:39 00:06:44 of them
00:06:41 00:06:46 so that was the easy to get gold
00:06:44 00:06:48 what happens when all the easy to get
00:06:46 00:06:50 gold's gone
00:06:48 00:06:53 it's really difficult
00:06:50 00:06:57 so today they use gigantik machinery
00:06:53 00:06:58 immense amounts of oil and energy
00:06:57 00:07:01 they gotta go through
00:06:58 00:07:04 thousands and thousands and thousands of
00:07:01 00:07:07 tons to get grams and ounces of gold
00:07:04 00:07:08 gigantik processing plants
00:07:07 00:07:10 this is the hard way to build a business
00:07:08 00:07:12 and this is the way i would argue that a
00:07:10 00:07:13 lot of people are going about building
00:07:12 00:07:17 the business
00:07:13 00:07:17 the really really hard way
00:07:19 00:07:22 so i want you
00:07:20 00:07:24 to understand how these oil wells work
00:07:22 00:07:25 so you can see the world through this
00:07:24 00:07:28 framework see the world through this
00:07:25 00:07:29 mental model and you can make better
00:07:28 00:07:32 decisions that will help you build more
00:07:29 00:07:34 oil wells
00:07:32 00:07:37 so phase one
00:07:34 00:07:39 as a digital wildcatter which is a
00:07:37 00:07:40 wildcatter is someone who's a freelance
00:07:39 00:07:44 oil worker
00:07:40 00:07:44 phase number one is discovery
00:07:45 00:07:48 and you get a couple of questions that
00:07:46 00:07:52 you're after in this discovery phase
00:07:48 00:07:54 first is there oil here
00:07:52 00:07:57 and second
00:07:54 00:08:00 can i get it out of the ground
00:07:57 00:08:00 profitably
00:08:01 00:08:04 so this is just testing
00:08:07 00:08:09 so let's say
00:08:10 00:08:15 you're in soap making
00:08:12 00:08:16 and you're wondering
00:08:15 00:08:19 if there might be an oil well there with
00:08:16 00:08:21 soap
00:08:19 00:08:25 well
00:08:21 00:08:25 you could go to bulkapothecary.com
00:08:25 00:08:31 and get a few bars of white label
00:08:27 00:08:34 branded soap by simply giving them a
00:08:31 00:08:36 label for your brand
00:08:34 00:08:39 pretty easy way to get your hands on a
00:08:36 00:08:39 little bit of inventory
00:08:40 00:08:45 go over to etsy
00:08:42 00:08:45 listed on etsy
00:08:45 00:08:49 run a few etsy ads
00:08:50 00:08:53 can you sell it
00:08:56 00:09:03 that's the discovery phase
00:08:59 00:09:06 now this is not only relevant
00:09:03 00:09:06 to people selling physical things
00:09:06 00:09:11 this is true for affiliates this is true
00:09:08 00:09:11 for my youtube channel
00:09:13 00:09:18 so if you look back through my first 90
00:09:16 00:09:18 videos
00:09:19 00:09:23 i was looking around for the oil
00:09:24 00:09:28 and the oil was a tension to be honest
00:09:27 00:09:30 in those days right that was the result
00:09:28 00:09:32 that was the
00:09:30 00:09:35 pressure i was trying to find within the
00:09:32 00:09:35 marketplace
00:09:37 00:09:42 i knew a lot of stuff about business
00:09:38 00:09:42 knew a lot of stuff about marketing
00:09:42 00:09:47 but where is there pent-up demand within
00:09:45 00:09:48 the marketplace that overlaps with what
00:09:47 00:09:50 i know
00:09:48 00:09:52 i didn't know when i made video number
00:09:50 00:09:54 one i didn't know when i made video
00:09:52 00:09:56 number two
00:09:54 00:09:57 truthfully
00:09:56 00:10:00 the first
00:09:57 00:10:02 real hit i found
00:10:00 00:10:05 when i was like damn there is some oil
00:10:02 00:10:09 here
00:10:05 00:10:09 was making videos on facebook ads
00:10:09 00:10:14 which was somewhere around video 85 or
00:10:12 00:10:18 something it was at the tail end
00:10:14 00:10:18 of that 90 day challenge
00:10:19 00:10:25 so the analogy is that i was wandering
00:10:21 00:10:25 around a big empty field
00:10:25 00:10:29 youtube
00:10:28 00:10:32 and tiknically i know there's oil
00:10:29 00:10:35 somewhere under the ground here and i'ma
00:10:32 00:10:35 poke me down some test holes
00:10:36 00:10:39 toked about funnels
00:10:38 00:10:42 people aren't all that interested in
00:10:39 00:10:42 funnels
00:10:42 00:10:47 toked about affiliate stuff
00:10:45 00:10:49 toked about the mindset stuff know your
00:10:47 00:10:52 why
00:10:49 00:10:52 it didn't really pop off
00:10:52 00:10:56 made a
00:10:53 00:10:57 how to advertise on facebook video
00:10:56 00:11:01 bingo
00:10:57 00:11:02 results a flood of views showed up from
00:11:01 00:11:05 that test
00:11:02 00:11:05 hole
00:11:06 00:11:10 so i use that analogy
00:11:09 00:11:12 to help you understand that you don't
00:11:10 00:11:14 have to have physical product you don't
00:11:12 00:11:16 have to have digital any products
00:11:14 00:11:18 in order for this framework this mental
00:11:16 00:11:20 model to still assist you in your
00:11:18 00:11:20 business
00:11:25 00:11:30 can you get it out
00:11:26 00:11:30 profitably now
00:11:32 00:11:36 when you first go drill your test holes
00:11:37 00:11:42 all you want to see your sales
00:11:40 00:11:44 it actually doesn't matter if you're
00:11:42 00:11:48 making money so in
00:11:44 00:11:50 the example of soap making
00:11:48 00:11:52 let's say your cost of goods sold is
00:11:50 00:11:56 five dollars a bar
00:11:52 00:11:59 and it's costing you seven dollars
00:11:56 00:11:59 total
00:11:59 00:12:04 to make a five dollar
00:12:01 00:12:06 to sell a five dollar product
00:12:04 00:12:09 your net negative two bucks per bar that
00:12:06 00:12:09 gets sold
00:12:10 00:12:13 but somebody bought it
00:12:14 00:12:17 and what if
00:12:15 00:12:20 you got a dozen bars and that was your
00:12:17 00:12:24 test
00:12:20 00:12:24 and although you lost two bucks a bar
00:12:24 00:12:28 you sold all 12 of them within a couple
00:12:26 00:12:31 of days
00:12:28 00:12:33 bingo that's what i'm looking for
00:12:31 00:12:34 that just means you got a two dollar gap
00:12:33 00:12:37 you just got to fill the gap that's not
00:12:34 00:12:37 that difficult
00:12:38 00:12:42 figure out a way to fiddle with the
00:12:40 00:12:43 shipping prices figure out a way to just
00:12:42 00:12:45 change the prices just raise the price
00:12:43 00:12:48 see if that works
00:12:45 00:12:50 try bundling bars of soap together until
00:12:48 00:12:52 you get profitable maybe selling three
00:12:50 00:12:55 bars for 15 will get you where you need
00:12:52 00:12:55 to be
00:12:55 00:12:58 but you've proven that there's pressure
00:12:57 00:13:01 there in the market through that
00:12:58 00:13:04 discovery phase
00:13:01 00:13:06 so that brings us to
00:13:04 00:13:07 number two well let's use digital
00:13:06 00:13:10 examples and maybe even memberships real
00:13:07 00:13:11 quick on the discovery
00:13:10 00:13:14 so over the last eight months i've
00:13:11 00:13:16 created i don't know a dozen or so
00:13:14 00:13:18 little info products
00:13:16 00:13:19 lots of templates
00:13:18 00:13:23 and
00:13:19 00:13:24 trainings little courses
00:13:23 00:13:26 launching them out i'm measuring the
00:13:24 00:13:27 conversion rates
00:13:26 00:13:29 send it out to my same list i got this
00:13:27 00:13:31 one group of audience
00:13:29 00:13:32 how well did that one do how well did
00:13:31 00:13:35 that one do how well did that one do i'm
00:13:32 00:13:37 just punching test holes to see what my
00:13:35 00:13:40 audience wants
00:13:37 00:13:42 what they actually respond to
00:13:40 00:13:46 not running a survey hey do you think
00:13:42 00:13:47 you would like this or that i don't care
00:13:46 00:13:48 what are they willing to pull out their
00:13:47 00:13:50 credit card for
00:13:48 00:13:52 aha that's
00:13:50 00:13:54 what i'm looking for
00:13:52 00:13:54 and right now
00:13:55 00:13:59 a clear pattern has emerged within this
00:13:57 00:14:01 product line that i've created and i'm
00:13:59 00:14:03 building a newer bigger product that's
00:14:01 00:14:06 going to be more valuable it's going to
00:14:03 00:14:07 be video not just text and it's going to
00:14:06 00:14:09 be
00:14:07 00:14:10 really focused on the one thing that
00:14:09 00:14:16 more people pulled out the credit card
00:14:10 00:14:16 for bingo i found the pent-up demand
00:14:17 00:14:22 and in my membership that i used to run
00:14:19 00:14:25 it was a similar idea
00:14:22 00:14:26 i opened the doors i said hey i'll help
00:14:25 00:14:28 you in your business through my forums
00:14:26 00:14:31 and through live
00:14:28 00:14:31 zoom calls on a regular basis
00:14:32 00:14:35 bunch of people signed up for that one
00:14:34 00:14:38 hundreds and hundreds i had over a
00:14:35 00:14:39 thousand members
00:14:38 00:14:41 and then i was in there in the trenches
00:14:39 00:14:42 what are they working on what's their
00:14:41 00:14:44 problem what's their big problem what's
00:14:42 00:14:45 actually holding them back which is
00:14:44 00:14:46 two-sided what do they think's holding
00:14:45 00:14:48 them back and what's actually holding
00:14:46 00:14:50 them back
00:14:48 00:14:53 okay so there's many different ways that
00:14:50 00:14:53 this works
00:14:55 00:14:59 in one sense
00:14:57 00:15:01 you're fishing around for product market
00:14:59 00:15:02 match
00:15:01 00:15:04 you've probably heard that phrase before
00:15:02 00:15:07 silicon valley types
00:15:04 00:15:08 venture capital folk like to use that
00:15:07 00:15:10 one founders
00:15:08 00:15:13 use that one it's an incomplete idea by
00:15:10 00:15:14 the way and i'll probably expand on that
00:15:13 00:15:16 and
00:15:14 00:15:17 complete that idea for you so it can
00:15:16 00:15:20 make more sense here in the future but
00:15:17 00:15:22 but it is that kind of an idea so number
00:15:20 00:15:25 one is discovery is there oil hearing
00:15:22 00:15:27 can i get it out of the ground
00:15:25 00:15:29 then when you've proven
00:15:27 00:15:32 this whole soap thing it's working oh
00:15:29 00:15:34 and so one of uh hutto's idea his best
00:15:32 00:15:36 idea for discovery he wanted to do print
00:15:34 00:15:38 on demand shirts and hats about
00:15:36 00:15:40 conspiracy theories because he just
00:15:38 00:15:42 thought we were living in this golden
00:15:40 00:15:44 age of conspiracy theory everyone's off
00:15:42 00:15:46 their rocker in all these crazy ass
00:15:44 00:15:49 directions and everyone wants to wear a
00:15:46 00:15:52 visual display of their favorite
00:15:49 00:15:54 uh controversial conspiracy theory
00:15:52 00:15:56 and that was his that was his idea and
00:15:54 00:15:58 then so the thought was he'd
00:15:56 00:16:01 shift around and try all kinds of stuff
00:15:58 00:16:03 he'd do sasquatch stuff
00:16:01 00:16:05 ufo alien
00:16:03 00:16:07 shirt ideas
00:16:05 00:16:09 birds are not real if you're familiar
00:16:07 00:16:11 with that one
00:16:09 00:16:12 okay so he would do a lot of
00:16:11 00:16:14 little
00:16:12 00:16:15 print-on-demand products that were
00:16:14 00:16:17 designed by people on fiber right or
00:16:15 00:16:19 somebody in the philippines or something
00:16:17 00:16:20 super inexpensive designs
00:16:19 00:16:22 list them up see what actually starts to
00:16:20 00:16:23 sell and then essentially build a brand
00:16:22 00:16:25 off that so let's say the sasquatch ones
00:16:23 00:16:27 thing worked that's where the oil was
00:16:25 00:16:29 let's say which we never got to testing
00:16:27 00:16:31 on that but then cool like let's build
00:16:29 00:16:33 out a whole brand and a whole product
00:16:31 00:16:35 line around sasquatch let's just go all
00:16:33 00:16:37 in there because we've now proven that
00:16:35 00:16:40 the marketplace which is essentially
00:16:37 00:16:42 etsy tied into a printful shop
00:16:40 00:16:43 we proved that that's where the oil is
00:16:42 00:16:46 great
00:16:43 00:16:49 try 20 30 different things see what
00:16:46 00:16:50 works the best out of those attempts
00:16:49 00:16:53 build on that
00:16:50 00:16:53 and so part two is building the pump
00:16:54 00:16:59 so this is the mechanism to actually
00:16:56 00:17:00 get it out of the ground
00:16:59 00:17:03 this is your traffic and your conversion
00:17:00 00:17:05 right your content your conversion
00:17:03 00:17:05 processes
00:17:08 00:17:10 etsy
00:17:09 00:17:11 gumroad
00:17:10 00:17:12 ebay
00:17:11 00:17:14 udemy
00:17:12 00:17:18 etc
00:17:14 00:17:18 these are marketplaces
00:17:19 00:17:24 and he always liked the idea
00:17:21 00:17:26 of go where people are already buying
00:17:24 00:17:26 things
00:17:26 00:17:30 sure eventually we'll build out our own
00:17:28 00:17:32 funnels eventually we'll bring our own
00:17:30 00:17:34 traffic to the priority eventually we'll
00:17:32 00:17:36 do all of the things that's phase three
00:17:34 00:17:37 spoiler alert
00:17:36 00:17:39 but
00:17:37 00:17:41 the goal is really to see can you do
00:17:39 00:17:43 five or ten sales a day
00:17:41 00:17:46 cash flow positive
00:17:43 00:17:47 you don't want to spend
00:17:46 00:17:50 months
00:17:47 00:17:52 building all that out on your own
00:17:50 00:17:55 got to test quickly got to keep going
00:17:52 00:17:57 is this the one i don't know let's go
00:17:55 00:17:59 do they want the sasquatch stuff ah the
00:17:57 00:18:02 hat the shirt i don't know let's go
00:17:59 00:18:05 more ideas more testing more quickly
00:18:02 00:18:05 hustle
00:18:08 00:18:12 like the time is of the essence because
00:18:10 00:18:15 it is
00:18:12 00:18:17 okay so the pump is
00:18:15 00:18:19 can you generate daily sales multiple
00:18:17 00:18:22 sales a day pretty much every day
00:18:19 00:18:24 consistently on one of these platforms
00:18:22 00:18:27 so again in his example he was going to
00:18:24 00:18:28 do etsy ads running on
00:18:27 00:18:30 all kinds of keyword search phrases so
00:18:28 00:18:31 if you if you go to etsy.com you just
00:18:30 00:18:33 start typing in like
00:18:31 00:18:35 sasquatch t-shirt another example of
00:18:33 00:18:37 this would be like cryptokurrency
00:18:35 00:18:39 t-shirts and cryptokurrency hats right
00:18:37 00:18:44 because there's people who are just so
00:18:39 00:18:45 fanatikal about their favorite thing
00:18:44 00:18:47 that they want to wear it they want to
00:18:45 00:18:49 wear the display right like the eth
00:18:47 00:18:51 maximalists want to wear the eath symbol
00:18:49 00:18:54 the bitcoin maxies want to wear the
00:18:51 00:18:56 bitcoin symbol bingo we now have this
00:18:54 00:18:58 whole pool of people who are crazy about
00:18:56 00:19:01 their thing
00:18:58 00:19:01 let's go see if we can work with them
00:19:01 00:19:06 the physical world you tok about
00:19:03 00:19:07 golfers fishermen gun folks right
00:19:06 00:19:10 selling
00:19:07 00:19:11 paper targets is is an example
00:19:10 00:19:13 somebody who buys a bunch of paper
00:19:11 00:19:14 targets bingo you know you know the
00:19:13 00:19:17 stuff they're into you can sell them all
00:19:14 00:19:18 kinds of stuff over time if you can find
00:19:17 00:19:21 a way to just
00:19:18 00:19:23 really get this machine get this pump
00:19:21 00:19:25 running to sell a few paper targets a
00:19:23 00:19:26 day that's a way to build a customer
00:19:25 00:19:29 list once you have a customer list you
00:19:26 00:19:29 can sell all kinds of stuff
00:19:31 00:19:35 so
00:19:32 00:19:37 daily sales and it was always
00:19:35 00:19:40 advertising
00:19:37 00:19:43 and offers that's it
00:19:40 00:19:45 the offer obviously is your product
00:19:43 00:19:48 and your sales letter
00:19:45 00:19:48 gotta sell the thing
00:19:48 00:19:53 uploading a
00:19:50 00:19:56 sasquatch hat and titling it sasquatch
00:19:53 00:19:58 hat and having the descriptive text of
00:19:56 00:20:01 sasquatch hat
00:19:58 00:20:07 probably not going to sell your
00:20:01 00:20:07 you actually have to write sales copy
00:20:07 00:20:10 because they want to wear that sasquatch
00:20:08 00:20:13 hat because what it says about them it's
00:20:10 00:20:13 an identity
00:20:14 00:20:18 and you need to help them realize when
00:20:16 00:20:21 they're looking at your listing that
00:20:18 00:20:22 this hat will give them the emotional
00:20:21 00:20:24 thing they actually want which is that
00:20:22 00:20:26 identity
00:20:24 00:20:28 and if you don't help them understand
00:20:26 00:20:30 that after they click on your ad think
00:20:28 00:20:32 that's kind of a cool hat click read if
00:20:30 00:20:34 they don't get that that this is going
00:20:32 00:20:36 to give them that feeling of importance
00:20:34 00:20:37 this is going to give them the dopamines
00:20:36 00:20:39 of the treasure hunt
00:20:37 00:20:40 if you don't help them realize that they
00:20:39 00:20:42 ain't going to buy
00:20:40 00:20:45 which is why
00:20:42 00:20:47 sales copy is so important
00:20:45 00:20:49 and a byproduct of this game
00:20:47 00:20:50 is that you'll be writing lots of sales
00:20:49 00:20:51 copy
00:20:50 00:20:52 because you'll be drilling lots of test
00:20:51 00:20:55 holes and every test hole needs some
00:20:52 00:20:55 sales copy
00:20:57 00:21:02 so phase one is discovery punch in a
00:20:59 00:21:04 bunch of little holes anything selling
00:21:02 00:21:06 cool once you find something that sells
00:21:04 00:21:08 build out a system build out the pump
00:21:06 00:21:09 the mechanisms to get it out of the
00:21:08 00:21:11 ground which is
00:21:09 00:21:14 running ads
00:21:11 00:21:14 to your listings
00:21:15 00:21:19 now if you've got courses if you're
00:21:17 00:21:20 trying to do the course thing in your
00:21:19 00:21:25 personal finance and you're trying to
00:21:20 00:21:25 teach people personal finance stuff
00:21:25 00:21:32 or use me as an example right
00:21:28 00:21:32 creating all of my little templates
00:21:33 00:21:36 i have enough of the bits and pieces
00:21:34 00:21:37 that i'm not going to go list my stuff
00:21:36 00:21:38 on udemy
00:21:37 00:21:40 i don't care about that marketplace i
00:21:38 00:21:42 don't care that they have thousands of
00:21:40 00:21:43 visitors a day or whatever it is buying
00:21:42 00:21:45 things i don't care i'll just run my own
00:21:43 00:21:46 ads because i have those skills but if
00:21:45 00:21:48 you don't
00:21:46 00:21:50 you can leverage those types of
00:21:48 00:21:50 platforms
00:21:52 00:21:55 this doesn't uh
00:21:53 00:21:57 work for three years and eventually
00:21:55 00:21:59 figure out if it works nah start start
00:21:57 00:22:02 drilling your teslas
00:21:59 00:22:03 figure it out go
00:22:02 00:22:05 so it doesn't really matter how you do
00:22:03 00:22:08 it personally i would run facebook ads
00:22:05 00:22:10 to sam cart products that's what i do
00:22:08 00:22:13 deliver it with sam cart and it's pretty
00:22:10 00:22:13 easy pump
00:22:14 00:22:18 and then phase three is the refinery
00:22:19 00:22:23 now the refinery
00:22:21 00:22:26 is where you automate
00:22:23 00:22:28 damn near everything
00:22:26 00:22:30 customer support
00:22:28 00:22:33 for example right you don't want to be
00:22:30 00:22:37 field fielding that in your gmail box
00:22:33 00:22:37 once you're really trying to scale it
00:22:39 00:22:42 and this is where you're really just
00:22:40 00:22:43 trying to get all the value out of it so
00:22:42 00:22:46 a
00:22:43 00:22:48 the refinery you automate the bs that
00:22:46 00:22:48 has to be done
00:22:49 00:22:54 and
00:22:51 00:22:57 turning up that traffic
00:22:54 00:22:58 this is when you would consider
00:22:57 00:23:00 building out your own product on your
00:22:58 00:23:02 own system
00:23:00 00:23:03 and selling it from your own ads and
00:23:02 00:23:04 this is true for
00:23:03 00:23:06 etsy
00:23:04 00:23:09 you write the sasquatch shirt because if
00:23:06 00:23:12 you're making daily sales
00:23:09 00:23:15 with sasquatch hats and sasquatch shirts
00:23:12 00:23:17 on etsy through etsy ads
00:23:15 00:23:19 well
00:23:17 00:23:22 what if you run some facebook ads to
00:23:19 00:23:24 your own sales page
00:23:22 00:23:27 what if you do a free plus shipping
00:23:24 00:23:28 sasquatch shirt and then you upsell the
00:23:27 00:23:30 hat and the stiker what if you do a
00:23:28 00:23:31 free plus shipping stiker aha that's
00:23:30 00:23:33 the one
00:23:31 00:23:35 right because it's easier it'd be uh
00:23:33 00:23:37 cheaper to print and cheaper to ship so
00:23:35 00:23:38 so
00:23:37 00:23:39 let's run through this real quick
00:23:38 00:23:41 discovery
00:23:39 00:23:43 trying a bunch of stuff bunch of
00:23:41 00:23:46 different
00:23:43 00:23:48 conspiracy theory symbols as shirts and
00:23:46 00:23:52 hats
00:23:48 00:23:54 what sells at all is question number one
00:23:52 00:23:56 let's assume and just say for the sake
00:23:54 00:23:58 of moving forward that the sasquatch
00:23:56 00:23:59 stuff starts to work
00:23:58 00:24:01 perfect
00:23:59 00:24:03 now in that i'm going to drill down in
00:24:01 00:24:04 that vertikal more and i'm going to
00:24:03 00:24:06 build a pump
00:24:04 00:24:08 which is a mechanism right there to see
00:24:06 00:24:09 can i get daily sales now we're testing
00:24:08 00:24:12 the depth of the marketplace how much
00:24:09 00:24:14 oil is in the ground here how big of a
00:24:12 00:24:16 pocket of oil yes there's pressure yes
00:24:14 00:24:19 there's sales coming out but is it
00:24:16 00:24:20 a trickle because some oil wells are
00:24:19 00:24:22 gushers
00:24:20 00:24:24 they'll pump
00:24:22 00:24:26 thousands of barrels a day every day for
00:24:24 00:24:28 hundreds of years
00:24:26 00:24:30 other oil fields
00:24:28 00:24:33 you might get a few barrels a day
00:24:30 00:24:34 might run for two or three years
00:24:33 00:24:37 it's okay
00:24:34 00:24:37 because you can automate it
00:24:38 00:24:43 and this is
00:24:39 00:24:47 what we do in the digital oil well world
00:24:43 00:24:48 we go stack these things up
00:24:47 00:24:52 right my affiliate sites that are in
00:24:48 00:24:54 these random ass niches bingo oil well
00:24:52 00:24:57 perfect it's running on its own
00:24:54 00:25:01 i don't even think about them
00:24:57 00:25:03 money shows up because it's automated
00:25:01 00:25:04 a lot of my wife's products are mp3s
00:25:03 00:25:06 automated
00:25:04 00:25:09 right so
00:25:06 00:25:10 in the discovery phase we are just as
00:25:09 00:25:13 quickly
00:25:10 00:25:14 and broadly as we can punching lots of
00:25:13 00:25:16 holes which means we're listing products
00:25:14 00:25:18 we're offering products we're seeing
00:25:16 00:25:20 what things sell where is that pent-up
00:25:18 00:25:23 demand within the marketplace where is
00:25:20 00:25:24 the pressure within the audience
00:25:23 00:25:27 bingo
00:25:24 00:25:30 made some sales on this one
00:25:27 00:25:32 cool i'mma go farther in that direction
00:25:30 00:25:33 as i mentioned that same theory does
00:25:32 00:25:35 apply to organic content marketing as
00:25:33 00:25:37 well
00:25:35 00:25:39 it's how i ended up making an opt-in
00:25:37 00:25:42 page for my facebook ads stuff that's
00:25:39 00:25:43 why i have a facebook ads course because
00:25:42 00:25:44 it was all proven that there was pent up
00:25:43 00:25:46 demand inside of the marketplace from
00:25:44 00:25:48 those early early videos when i just
00:25:46 00:25:50 started showing what i was doing to run
00:25:48 00:25:53 my facebook ads
00:25:50 00:25:56 so number two on the sasquatch
00:25:53 00:25:57 sasquatch is working i got shirts i got
00:25:56 00:25:59 hats
00:25:57 00:26:02 trying to find a way to make sunglasses
00:25:59 00:26:06 if i can and stikers
00:26:02 00:26:09 can i get daily sales on sasquatch stuff
00:26:06 00:26:11 running ads on etsy
00:26:09 00:26:14 to sell my stuff
00:26:11 00:26:16 theoretikally it's all integrated
00:26:14 00:26:17 to where the fulfillment's 100 done for
00:26:16 00:26:18 me
00:26:17 00:26:21 bingo
00:26:18 00:26:22 check that box it works great
00:26:21 00:26:25 now
00:26:22 00:26:27 i was able to on etsy get a message
00:26:25 00:26:29 in front of people looking for
00:26:27 00:26:33 conspiracy theory stuff looking for
00:26:29 00:26:35 sasquatch stuff okay this is the easy
00:26:33 00:26:37 stuff these are the easy people they're
00:26:35 00:26:39 raising their hand because they're
00:26:37 00:26:42 typing into the search bar on etsy
00:26:39 00:26:43 sasquatch hat i display an ad every time
00:26:42 00:26:45 somebody searches sasquatch hat they
00:26:43 00:26:47 find mine they buy it that system works
00:26:45 00:26:50 great
00:26:47 00:26:50 can i scale this thing
00:26:51 00:26:54 and this is where we build the refinery
00:26:52 00:26:56 so on the refinery let's say i go to
00:26:54 00:26:59 stiker mule and i get a thousand
00:26:56 00:27:01 stikers cut like die cut stikers
00:26:59 00:27:03 really cool stikers okay so um i think
00:27:01 00:27:05 a four by four stiker off top my head
00:27:03 00:27:08 was something to the tune of like 50 or
00:27:05 00:27:09 60 cents per piece
00:27:08 00:27:12 so by a thousand of them is like 60
00:27:09 00:27:14 bucks or something like that
00:27:12 00:27:16 so then i make
00:27:14 00:27:18 a sales letter for a free
00:27:16 00:27:22 sasquatch stiker
00:27:18 00:27:22 just pay shipping
00:27:24 00:27:29 i like this because
00:27:25 00:27:31 it would cost me a stamp and an envelope
00:27:29 00:27:34 and the time to write someone's address
00:27:31 00:27:35 on an envelope to ship that thing out
00:27:34 00:27:37 so
00:27:35 00:27:39 rough math i have no clue what a stamp
00:27:37 00:27:41 costs i'm thinking a stamp is around 50
00:27:39 00:27:44 cents please adjust that if i'm wrong i
00:27:41 00:27:46 don't know i don't use stamps often but
00:27:44 00:27:48 let's say an envelope's a quarter let's
00:27:46 00:27:50 say a stamp's 50 cents i'm gonna say the
00:27:48 00:27:54 stiker is another 50 cents i'm a buck
00:27:50 00:27:55 25 to their door in the us
00:27:54 00:27:59 cool
00:27:55 00:28:03 so can i do a free plus shipping stiker
00:27:59 00:28:05 offer that has a t-shirt as a bump a hat
00:28:03 00:28:06 as a bump and then the one-click upsell
00:28:05 00:28:08 is some bundle
00:28:06 00:28:10 poster
00:28:08 00:28:10 thing
00:28:12 00:28:17 can i scale that to the unwashed masses
00:28:15 00:28:17 on facebook
00:28:19 00:28:25 if you can
00:28:20 00:28:25 there's billions of people on facebook
00:28:26 00:28:30 that's the refinery okay that's going
00:28:29 00:28:32 that's taking an idea that works in this
00:28:30 00:28:34 small little area and see if we can go
00:28:32 00:28:35 mass market with it
00:28:34 00:28:37 and then you just want to systematize
00:28:35 00:28:39 everything so your traffic should be as
00:28:37 00:28:41 systematized as possible he was a big
00:28:39 00:28:42 fan of google display network ads
00:28:41 00:28:43 actually because once you get them set
00:28:42 00:28:46 up and once you figure them out they can
00:28:43 00:28:49 run for almost ever
00:28:46 00:28:51 i have not cracked that code yet but
00:28:49 00:28:54 we're still fiddling with it
00:28:51 00:28:55 i'm still facebook ads is still the main
00:28:54 00:28:58 place where i'm driving most of my
00:28:55 00:29:01 traffic
00:28:58 00:29:01 and then the systems okay so
00:29:02 00:29:06 i mentioned literally stamps and
00:29:04 00:29:08 envelopes
00:29:06 00:29:10 one could say that that's in the
00:29:08 00:29:13 building the pump phase but i guarantee
00:29:10 00:29:14 you with a little effort
00:29:13 00:29:15 you could find a print-on-demand place
00:29:14 00:29:17 that would allow you to do
00:29:15 00:29:21 print-on-demand stikers
00:29:17 00:29:22 and they deliver them one-off for you
00:29:21 00:29:24 probably costs a lot more than doing it
00:29:22 00:29:28 yourself which is why i think doing it
00:29:24 00:29:28 yourself is probably a good idea to test
00:29:28 00:29:33 but alas
00:29:31 00:29:36 i would test it out i would prove the
00:29:33 00:29:39 model and then i would build systems
00:29:36 00:29:41 around it and if the price increase from
00:29:39 00:29:43 1.25 to let's say it was four dollars to
00:29:41 00:29:45 get some third-party company to do that
00:29:43 00:29:47 for me well
00:29:45 00:29:49 i just have a gap
00:29:47 00:29:51 i have to clear if i was profitable when
00:29:49 00:29:53 i was doing it at a dollar 25 and i'm
00:29:51 00:29:55 now not profitable when it cost me four
00:29:53 00:29:58 dollars that's the price i have to pay
00:29:55 00:30:00 if i want to automate everything
00:29:58 00:30:01 or else
00:30:00 00:30:04 get your kids to write the addresses on
00:30:01 00:30:06 the envelopes and send them out
00:30:04 00:30:07 making 10 sales a day great
00:30:06 00:30:10 because here's what would happen in that
00:30:07 00:30:13 scenario you wouldn't be dealing with an
00:30:10 00:30:16 average order value of a stiker
00:30:13 00:30:17 i see generally 30 to 40 percent of
00:30:16 00:30:19 people taking me up on the bumps when
00:30:17 00:30:21 they're written appropriately when
00:30:19 00:30:23 they're done right with good copy i see
00:30:21 00:30:26 about 30 25 to 30 percent of people
00:30:23 00:30:27 taking me up on my one click upsells
00:30:26 00:30:29 that's where you make all your money
00:30:27 00:30:31 that's where the average order value
00:30:29 00:30:33 right does not
00:30:31 00:30:35 pay 395
00:30:33 00:30:37 shipping and handling to get a free
00:30:35 00:30:37 stiker
00:30:38 00:30:43 most people spend 15 20 30 50 bucks
00:30:41 00:30:44 because they like it
00:30:43 00:30:46 they like your little stiker that was
00:30:44 00:30:48 in the image of the ad on facebook and
00:30:46 00:30:49 you have that image on a shirt and on a
00:30:48 00:30:52 hat well they might just want to get the
00:30:49 00:30:52 hat in the shirt too
00:30:53 00:30:56 and then the automation
00:30:57 00:31:01 they check out on samgar sam cart sends
00:30:59 00:31:03 the order over the print on demand
00:31:01 00:31:04 system the print on demand system
00:31:03 00:31:06 handles the fulfillment
00:31:04 00:31:08 if they reply to any email addresses it
00:31:06 00:31:10 goes over to freshdesk your customer
00:31:08 00:31:12 support representative sees it as a
00:31:10 00:31:15 tiket they log in and do it bingo
00:31:12 00:31:18 you're out of the loop
00:31:15 00:31:21 and it just runs
00:31:18 00:31:23 maybe you're the traffic person
00:31:21 00:31:27 maybe not
00:31:23 00:31:27 i was for a very long time now i'm not
00:31:29 00:31:33 and then what do you do this is the
00:31:31 00:31:35 magic of the digital oil well
00:31:33 00:31:35 system
00:31:36 00:31:40 because once you've discovered
00:31:38 00:31:41 that there's oil there and you've proven
00:31:40 00:31:43 you can get it out of the ground and
00:31:41 00:31:45 you've built the pump
00:31:43 00:31:48 proven you can get daily sales if this
00:31:45 00:31:50 thing's gonna pump for a while
00:31:48 00:31:52 and you build a whole refinery on top of
00:31:50 00:31:54 it
00:31:52 00:31:56 well here's what you don't do
00:31:54 00:31:58 you don't try to scale this thing as
00:31:56 00:32:01 fast as humanly possible
00:31:58 00:32:04 because you could break your systems
00:32:01 00:32:04 ask me how i know
00:32:06 00:32:11 every oil field has a capacity at which
00:32:09 00:32:13 it can run consistently for very long
00:32:11 00:32:15 periods of time without stressing out
00:32:13 00:32:16 the components so bad that it breaks
00:32:15 00:32:17 them
00:32:16 00:32:18 that's
00:32:17 00:32:21 what we
00:32:18 00:32:25 like to build
00:32:21 00:32:26 so your sasquatch oil well once it's all
00:32:25 00:32:30 done and tested and automated and the
00:32:26 00:32:33 refinery is built it might generate 615
00:32:30 00:32:36 a day and that's just what it does
00:32:33 00:32:38 and of that 413 dollars might be your
00:32:36 00:32:38 cost of goods sold therefore you've got
00:32:38 00:32:40 yourself
00:32:38 00:32:41 damn it i didn't write those numbers
00:32:40 00:32:44 down i don't know 200 bucks profit
00:32:41 00:32:46 whatever it was
00:32:44 00:32:48 cool
00:32:46 00:32:50 go build another one
00:32:48 00:32:53 do it again
00:32:50 00:32:53 and again
00:32:53 00:32:56 and again
00:32:57 00:33:01 and so this is how you can replace
00:33:01 00:33:07 job income nine to five income
00:33:04 00:33:10 working for the man that you hate income
00:33:07 00:33:11 okay so while you're doing that bs
00:33:10 00:33:14 you're over here working on your oil
00:33:11 00:33:14 wells
00:33:14 00:33:19 you get one working cool there's 300
00:33:17 00:33:20 towards the cause every day bingo
00:33:19 00:33:23 perfect
00:33:20 00:33:24 300 a week towards the cause bingo cool
00:33:23 00:33:27 how many of those oil wells do you need
00:33:24 00:33:28 at 300 bucks a week to fire your boss
00:33:27 00:33:32 it's just math
00:33:28 00:33:34 so you go back do another one cool well
00:33:32 00:33:37 sasquatch works what about aliens what
00:33:34 00:33:37 about ufos
00:33:37 00:33:41 now if you hate conspiracy theories if
00:33:39 00:33:43 it bothers you for some reason that
00:33:41 00:33:45 people think
00:33:43 00:33:48 and and enjoy for whatever reason these
00:33:45 00:33:50 this world then don't go into that world
00:33:48 00:33:54 do what you enjoy
00:33:50 00:33:57 maybe soaps and bath bombs and aura
00:33:54 00:34:00 sprays and essential oils and flower
00:33:57 00:34:01 sprays and those types of things maybe
00:34:00 00:34:03 that's your where maybe you're like yeah
00:34:01 00:34:05 miles now we're toking
00:34:03 00:34:05 cool
00:34:05 00:34:08 bulkapothecary.com go get some private
00:34:07 00:34:10 label
00:34:08 00:34:12 bath bombs made
00:34:10 00:34:14 they make them
00:34:12 00:34:15 they'll customize the ingredients for
00:34:14 00:34:17 you if you want
00:34:15 00:34:20 they'll even put your label on it so
00:34:17 00:34:22 it'll be your brand
00:34:20 00:34:22 cool
00:34:25 00:34:31 or maybe you're a fitness instructor and
00:34:28 00:34:32 you do an arms class a abs a core a
00:34:31 00:34:36 chest
00:34:32 00:34:36 legs booty workout i don't know it's
00:34:36 00:34:39 that
00:34:36 00:34:39 philosophy
00:34:41 00:34:44 and if you're an affiliate
00:34:45 00:34:49 let's say you got a big old niche site
00:34:47 00:34:49 on photography
00:34:49 00:34:54 well
00:34:51 00:34:55 what are people actually interested in
00:34:54 00:34:57 lenses
00:34:55 00:34:59 lighting strobes
00:34:57 00:35:04 backdrops
00:34:59 00:35:04 camera bodies point and shoot webcams
00:35:04 00:35:07 i don't know
00:35:07 00:35:11 that's why you got to go through the
00:35:08 00:35:13 process of discovery first
00:35:11 00:35:16 then you build the pump
00:35:13 00:35:18 and the refinery
00:35:16 00:35:20 and on your affiliate site you might end
00:35:18 00:35:23 up having seven eight nine ten little
00:35:20 00:35:23 oil wells
00:35:24 00:35:28 bringing in all the cash flow
00:35:26 00:35:31 most of my affiliate sites have hundreds
00:35:28 00:35:33 of posts on them
00:35:31 00:35:34 that's discovery face
00:35:33 00:35:36 it's also proving to google that i'm
00:35:34 00:35:39 publishing enough content for google to
00:35:36 00:35:39 like what i'm doing
00:35:41 00:35:47 and then out of those i don't know
00:35:44 00:35:49 20 bringing all the money 80
00:35:47 00:35:52 just help me have the authority i need
00:35:49 00:35:52 so google ranks me perfect
00:35:54 00:35:56 and that's the big idea
00:35:55 00:35:59 and i just look down at the clock and
00:35:56 00:36:02 it's 36 minutes
00:35:59 00:36:04 and i love it
00:36:02 00:36:08 again this has been fun
00:36:04 00:36:08 to just turn on the microphone and riff
00:36:09 00:36:12 record in the morning didn't know what i
00:36:10 00:36:14 was gonna record about at breakfast came
00:36:12 00:36:16 down after breakfast here it is 9 22 in
00:36:14 00:36:20 the morning on
00:36:16 00:36:20 march 15 2022 and
00:36:20 00:36:24 let me get this wrapped up and go work
00:36:22 00:36:24 on my shop
00:36:25 00:36:30 done for the day
00:36:27 00:36:32 because this is a part of my oil well
00:36:30 00:36:33 i'm selling you nothing
00:36:32 00:36:37 right that's not the point that's not
00:36:33 00:36:37 how it works we're not always selling
00:36:38 00:36:40 but i am going to take a look at how
00:36:39 00:36:42 many people download this thing i am
00:36:40 00:36:43 going to take a look at the response see
00:36:42 00:36:45 if any of you
00:36:43 00:36:48 hit me up on twitter and say damn my
00:36:45 00:36:50 digital oil wells idea that one's stuck
00:36:48 00:36:52 i'm looking for those data points but
00:36:50 00:36:54 i'm just going to keep
00:36:52 00:36:56 wandering around the metaverse here with
00:36:54 00:36:57 you in audio format plugging little
00:36:56 00:36:59 holes in the ground seeing if there's
00:36:57 00:37:03 oil anywhere and when i find it
00:36:59 00:37:04 well i'll start building the pump
00:37:03 00:37:08 now if it keeps printing out sales every
00:37:04 00:37:09 day put a refinery on top of that thing
00:37:08 00:37:11 let it do what it does i'm not going to
00:37:09 00:37:14 run it too hard don't want to break it
00:37:11 00:37:16 i'm going to let it pump at the rate
00:37:14 00:37:18 of demand within the marketplace
00:37:16 00:37:20 and then i'll go get work
00:37:18 00:37:23 go get to work
00:37:20 00:37:23 figuring out my next oil well
00:37:25 00:37:29 that's the master class course thing i'm
00:37:27 00:37:33 working on right now
00:37:29 00:37:34 and that's after selling a dozen or so
00:37:33 00:37:36 templates
00:37:34 00:37:37 most of which didn't do too well that's
00:37:36 00:37:38 fine
00:37:37 00:37:40 got a few things that worked and if i
00:37:38 00:37:42 group them all together and look at it
00:37:40 00:37:43 through another lens ah that might be
00:37:42 00:37:46 one offer right there bingo that's what
00:37:43 00:37:49 i'm gonna go build
00:37:46 00:37:51 and this is how
00:37:49 00:37:54 the process of moving forward into a
00:37:51 00:37:55 niche into a world into an audience they
00:37:54 00:37:58 don't know much about this is a mental
00:37:55 00:38:02 map a way of thinking about the process
00:37:58 00:38:05 to go from uninitiated in that space to
00:38:02 00:38:07 aha i now know what this pent-up demand
00:38:05 00:38:09 is within the marketplace not only that
00:38:07 00:38:10 but i got a thing that people buy not
00:38:09 00:38:13 only that but i can actually make sales
00:38:10 00:38:14 consistently every day with this thing
00:38:13 00:38:16 bingo let me see if i can scale this
00:38:14 00:38:18 thing to the great unwashed masses
00:38:16 00:38:19 through google ads youtube ads and
00:38:18 00:38:24 facebook ads because i could reach three
00:38:19 00:38:24 billion people on those three platforms
00:38:25 00:38:28 and then
00:38:26 00:38:30 i do it again
00:38:28 00:38:32 and it's actually kind of fun
00:38:30 00:38:34 and this is the game that i actually
00:38:32 00:38:36 play this is the meta game right this is
00:38:34 00:38:37 the game within the game
00:38:36 00:38:39 looking around for the different oil
00:38:37 00:38:41 wells sometimes in our business we're
00:38:39 00:38:43 looking back at things that melanie
00:38:41 00:38:45 launched three years ago like wow that
00:38:43 00:38:46 did so well what if we took that and
00:38:45 00:38:48 added this newer thing to it and we
00:38:46 00:38:51 rebranded as this and bingo would that
00:38:48 00:38:52 be a good oil well boom set it up run it
00:38:51 00:38:54 sure enough
00:38:52 00:38:57 making sales every day i got a few
00:38:54 00:38:59 things every day make 10 20 sales on
00:38:57 00:39:00 these five or six products every
00:38:59 00:39:02 single
00:39:00 00:39:03 day
00:39:02 00:39:04 i don't have to touch them anymore i
00:39:03 00:39:06 don't have to fiddle with them anymore
00:39:04 00:39:10 they're automated okay this is getting
00:39:06 00:39:10 us to that automated income
00:39:11 00:39:15 starts with one there's
00:39:13 00:39:17 50 bucks a day from one 150 bucks a day
00:39:15 00:39:18 from the next one the third one i get
00:39:17 00:39:20 200 bucks a day the fourth one is 75
00:39:18 00:39:23 bucks a day at some point you're making
00:39:20 00:39:26 enough every day from your oil wells
00:39:23 00:39:26 that you can fire your boss
00:39:26 00:39:29 and the oil wells can operate on
00:39:28 00:39:31 different platforms with different
00:39:29 00:39:32 traffic sources they can be in different
00:39:31 00:39:34 niches they could be in different or
00:39:32 00:39:35 they're in one niche for one audience
00:39:34 00:39:38 and they could be different like product
00:39:35 00:39:40 lines for example uh i got a friend matt
00:39:38 00:39:43 giovanisi in the pool care like he
00:39:40 00:39:45 teaches how to do pool care stuff he has
00:39:43 00:39:47 affiliate links and he also has his own
00:39:45 00:39:49 physical products all right there under
00:39:47 00:39:51 one brand always being a service to that
00:39:49 00:39:52 one group of people but he's fishing
00:39:51 00:39:56 around for the different oil places
00:39:52 00:39:58 within that one lot within that one plot
00:39:56 00:39:59 of land
00:39:58 00:40:01 that's his land
00:39:59 00:40:02 it's his blog it's swim university
00:40:01 00:40:04 that's his
00:40:02 00:40:05 that's his real estate that he's built
00:40:04 00:40:07 and he's hunting around for those oil
00:40:05 00:40:09 wells on his
00:40:07 00:40:11 piece of land and he's transitioning
00:40:09 00:40:13 from being an affiliate to
00:40:11 00:40:16 a product creator to a real true
00:40:13 00:40:19 business owner who is no longer
00:40:16 00:40:20 precariously
00:40:19 00:40:22 nervous about
00:40:20 00:40:24 amazon
00:40:22 00:40:26 sending his commission rate to zero
00:40:24 00:40:28 he's got his own products now he's got
00:40:26 00:40:29 his own funnels he's got his own way of
00:40:28 00:40:32 selling them he's got his own traffic
00:40:29 00:40:33 systems and it's working bingo
00:40:32 00:40:36 it's a more diverse business that brings
00:40:33 00:40:39 in more cash flow than it did before
00:40:36 00:40:40 more security more cash flow awesome
00:40:39 00:40:45 that's what we do
