does dropshipping still work 2017

Published on: June 19 2023 by pipiads

It's a new year and it's time to put in the work to see results. Dropshipping is still popular, but the game has changed. To succeed, you need to focus on becoming the best marketer and finding high-quality products that people actually want to use.

Skills Needed:

To become a successful dropshipper, you need to have four main skills: copywriting, video editing, website design, and running ads. Don't outsource each step of the process, as this will hold you back. Instead, focus on learning and improving these skills, especially video editing and copywriting.

Learning Skills:

One way to learn these skills is to find a good example of a store or ad that is performing well and try to replicate it. Don't copy and paste the entire ad, instead study what's already working and use that to your advantage.

Running Ads:

To run successful ads, you need to focus on the product and the advertisement itself. If these areas are optimized, then running ads won't be difficult. Use YouTube to learn the basics on any ad platform you want.

Finding Products:

The only products you should sell are ones that are already selling and have lots of good feedback and positive reviews. The golden opportunity is to find these products that are already doing well and have areas for you to improve.

Tick Tock Opportunity:

Tick Tock has exploded for e-commerce and there are new products going viral every single day. One of my friends, Leo, scaled his store past 70 thousand dollars a day with just Tick Tock ads.

To succeed in dropshipping this year, you need to focus on developing your skills and finding high-quality products. The Tick Tock opportunity is massive and can be a game-changer for your brand. Follow my journey as I document the entire process and share my insights along the way.

I Tried Dropshipping for 2 Weeks in 2022

In this article, the author discusses their experience with dropshipping and trying to find a profitable product to sell on TikTok. They start by doing research and looking at popular hashtags on the platform to find unique products with a wow factor that are cheap and simple. After trying out a mini vacuum cleaner and realizing it wasn't a good product, they pivot to heart-shaped glasses that turn lights into hearts. They create a simple website for their one-product store and start posting videos on TikTok and Instagram Reels to drive traffic. Eventually, they start running TikTok ads, but struggle to get conversions despite good click-through rates. In the end, they only make one sale, but it's for three items and happens in the last hour of their Shopify trial. The author concludes by encouraging others to try dropshipping, but warning that it requires a larger ad budget than they had. They also ask for feedback from experienced dropshippers to help them improve in the future.

How Shopify Dropshipping Works

- Dropshipping is a trendy e-commerce fad that is growing in popularity.

- It relies on targeted ads to make an impulse purchase from a Shopify store.

- Many younger consumers are also looking for creative ways to make money, leading to the rise of the young merchant.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Dropshipping:

- The model relies on acting as a middleman without ever touching the merchandise.

- Dropshipping can be a get-rich-quick scheme or a serious business that takes major hustle to pull off properly.

- False advertising and poor quality products are major problems in the industry.

- Finding unique products and utilizing marketing is key to success.

- Dropshippers copy entire brands, leading to trademark infringement issues.

- Legitimate dropshippers can build successful businesses.

Dropshipping on Shopify:

- Shopify is a one-stop-shop for setting up an online store, making it popular for dropshippers.

- More than 25,000 fraudulent Shopify stores engage in counterfeits, privacy leaks, and fake reviews.

- Dropshippers can copy entire brands, leading to infringement and legal battles.

- Legitimate dropshippers brand their own products and utilize marketing to succeed.

Challenges of Dropshipping:

- Shipping times can be long and returns can be complicated.

- Lazy dropshippers can lead to poor quality products and bad customer service.

- Agents and sourcing companies can speed up shipping but cost a lot.

- Fake reviews, ratings, and upvotes are used by less savory dropshippers.

- Dropshipping is here to stay with the constant growth of online shipping.

- The industry must address issues with false advertising, poor quality products, and trademark infringement.

- Legitimate dropshippers who put in the effort can build successful businesses.

👀 What You NEED To Know Before Dropshipping

Despite claims that dropshipping is dead or oversaturated, it is still a viable business model. Many assumptions about dropshipping are wrong, and understanding these can lead to success. Here are some of the most common misconceptions about dropshipping.

Assumption #1: It is too late to start a successful dropshipping business.

- Contrary to popular belief, dropshipping is not dead.

- People will still buy from your store if you offer products that spike an emotion in the customer.

- Successful dropshipping stores are built around a target customer who enjoys impulsive purchases.

- Millennials are especially prone to impulse buying, making up to 80% of impulsive e-commerce purchases.

- The key to success is finding unique and interesting products that are unlike anything else on the market.

- Good advertising that triggers emotions in customers can lead to sales.

Assumption #2: Dropshipping is a scam.

- Dropshipping is a way to fulfill products, not a product itself.

- The customer would not have known about the product if not for the advertising, which the dropshipper paid for.

- Pricing is subjective and determined by the customer, not the entrepreneur.

- If a dropshipper can create a marketing campaign that gets people to purchase their products for a higher price, then they deserve that sale.

Assumption #3: Dropshipping is saturated.

- Some products are saturated, but this is a product problem, not a fulfillment problem.

- Successful dropshippers sell unsaturated products that trigger emotions in customers and get them to impulsively buy.

- The key is to find products that few people are selling and put them in front of customers who would love to buy them.

Assumption #4: Donald Trump's war with China has killed dropshipping.

- E-packet, the cheapest and fastest shipping option from China to the USA, is still available.

- China has found alternatives to e-packet, such as AliExpress standard shipping and opening up fulfillment centers in the USA.

- Dropshipping is still a viable business model.

Assumption #5: Most people who dropship will fail.

- While 99% of people may fail, the main reason for this is avoidable.

- The main reason people fail is not due to a lack of knowledge about Facebook ads, but a lack of knowledge about marketing products to consumers.

- Knowledge about dropshipping is widely available, but it is important to understand the target customer and find unique and interesting products that spike emotions in them.

Dropshipping is still a viable business model, despite common misconceptions. To be successful, it is important to understand the target customer and find unique and interesting products that trigger emotions in them. With the right marketing strategies and knowledge about dropshipping, anyone can succeed in this industry.

3 Things That Have Changed In My Dropshipping Since 2017 (Increased Sales)

In this article, we will explore the three ways that I have changed my approach to e-commerce, specifically Shopify dropshipping, from 2017 to now. As the industry evolves, it's important to adapt and find what works more effectively. We will discuss some of the core changes that have impacted my business, income, and overall success.

E-commerce is a constantly evolving industry, and it's essential to stay up-to-date with the changes to remain competitive. In this article, we will discuss the three ways that I have changed my approach to e-commerce, specifically Shopify dropshipping, from 2017 to now.

1. Focusing on the data:

Previously, I focused on making money with influencers. While that still works, I've shifted my focus to Facebook because I've seen and experienced more success with the platform. By solely focusing on the data, I've been able to create a lookalike audience using my Facebook pixel. This has allowed me to know what works and what doesn't, making testing products more effective.

2. Changing my offer type and price point:

I used to primarily do free plus shipping offers on Instagram and not as much on Facebook. However, I've changed my offer type and price point. Instead of solely doing free plus shipping, I've added retail offers on a discount, while still doing free plus shipping. I've also increased my price point, allowing for more margin and making it easier to break even on Facebook ads.

3. Testing upwards and outwards:

I've shifted my testing approach from trying to scale immediately to testing outwards and upwards. Facebook's algorithm moves slowly and steadily, and this approach has allowed for steady growth and success.

As e-commerce continues to evolve, it's important to adapt and find what works best for your business. By focusing on the data, changing your offer type and price point, and testing upwards and outwards, you can find success in the e-commerce industry. Don't be afraid to try new things and evolve with the industry.

Hey guys, Sebastian here! Today I want to share something exciting with you. I recently found a winning product and made a thousand dollars in revenue with just one product in a few days. It's insane! But before I get into that, I want to explain what dropshipping is since many people have been asking me about it.

What is dropshipping?

- Dropshipping is a retail fulfillment method where the store doesn't keep the products it sells in stock.

- Instead, when a store sells a product, it purchases the item from a third party and has it shipped directly to the customer.

- As a dropshipper, you act as the middleman, marketing the products to customers and then ordering them from the supplier.

- You make a profit on the difference between the price you charge customers and the price you pay the supplier.

How does dropshipping work?

- Imagine you order a product from a website like iPhonecases.com.

- The website owner doesn't own the products but instead contacts a supplier to ship the product to you directly.

- As a dropshipper, you set up a website with products, and when customers buy something, you contact the supplier to ship the product to the customer.

- Shipping times may be longer because suppliers are often located in China.

- To make sales, many dropshippers offer free plus shipping deals to attract customers.

So, there you have it, dropshipping in a nutshell! It's an excellent way to start an online business with minimal risk, low overhead costs, and little inventory.
