👀 What You NEED To Know Before Dropshipping
you know what, despite the several successful dropshipping case studies on this channel, i still occasionally get people leaving comments like drop shipping is dead, if it was ever properly alive to begin with. increasing e packet rate- it literally kills drop shipping. it's too late for this business. most businesses fail. i will never waste my time and money trying to start a business ever again, and if you're smart, you'll do the same thing. hmm, yeah, well, okay, obviously, i strongly disagree with those comments, because here's the thing: a lot of people will say things like drop shipping is dead or it's too late, or businesses don't work, and the reason why they're saying these things is because they are making several assumptions that are all wrong, and so, if you are looking to start a store, it's crucial, then, that you understand what these assumptions are before you start drop shipping so that, unlike these people, your store can be successful, because, no, it is not too late. one people won't buy from you. they'll just buy from amazon instead. but wait, sarah, you ask: why would anyone buy products from me if they can buy products directly from amazon themselves? now, it is absolutely true that if you head on over to amazon, that you will find lots of products that can be purchased directly from aliexpress, sitting on amazon's digital shelf as well. and, of course, if customers were to purchase your products on amazon, they would then get to take advantage of their prime two-day shipping. so how on earth could drop shippers successfully dropship these guitar coffee spoons with two to three week shipping via china's cheapest, fastest shipping option- a packet, when a customer could come and buy them on amazon with two-day shipping? i mean, come on, sarah, just think about it. amazon is only growing. in q3 2019, their product sales were up over 17 from the same time in 2018.. won't amazon steal away all of our sales? no, no, they will not. you see, here's the thing. there is some truth to these comments. amazon is arguably the better deal for usa citizens. it is better for the consumer to purchase the products on amazon. so if they figure out that the product that you are selling them is indeed on amazon for purchase, you can bet that amazon will take that sale away from you. but you know what? we literally don't care. and you know what? drop shippers never have the sorts of people who see a product and decide that they're going to research the absolute best deal, for it were never our customers in the first place. nope, it's the 44 of people that impulsively purchase products online that we are targeting and, of course, as shown by how millennials are even more prone to impulsive purchases, with 80 of them impulsively buying products, the overall percentage of impulse e-commerce purchases for us to target as drop shippers is only growing and growing. you see, successful drop shipping stores are built around that target customer, the type of customer that enjoys impulsively purchasing products. it also means that the successful drop shipping stores are usually built around selling products that spike an emotion in a customer that makes them think: i need to buy this right now. it's why this aliexpress dog caller has made hundreds of thousands of dollars. the advertising dropshippers used spike fear and dog owners pointing out how many dogs dying in car accidents each year from not being seen. that is why, when recently, i saw this comment from this viewer asking why their online store wasn't successful, i pretty much instantly knew that the store would be selling extremely boring products. and lo and behold, i was right. now, of course, this is actually a print on demand store, not a drop shipping store, but the exact same principle applies. why would somebody want to buy this hoodie when they can go to amazon and find cheaper hoodies and shirts with inspirational messages on there, because here is the reality. typing vision in a plain white circle is not exciting. so let's compare this hoodie to this hoodie. what is the difference between the two? well, the difference is that one hoodie is very boring and the other is extremely interesting, unique and unlike anything people are likely to have seen before, which is why this hoodie's facebook advertising campaign made so much money for the successful aliexpress dropshipping store. freaky pet. and, of course, if you're ever wondering, this exact same answer applies to the people that ask the question: why would customers not go directly to aliexpress themselves? well, again, it's because good aliexpress drop shippers sell products that trigger emotions on people and get them to impulsively buy their products, so that they never even think to go check if a product is on aliexpress, because they see and go. that's so amazing. i must buy one now. and, by the way, if you've learned something from this video and you would like to learn even more about starting a successful drop shipping store, then be sure to subscribe and click that little notification bell next to it so that you don't miss out on any of our videos. two, dropshipping is a scam. i just want to quickly address this because these comments are really dumb. you know, you might have notiked that earlier in this video i freely admitted that it would be a fast, superior financial choice for a customer to buy this hoodie on amazon with two day shipping for a fraction of the price compared to what they would pay for it on freaky pet. and so what do people say to that? oh, the customer can get it cheaper, elsewhere, quicker. that makes your store a scam. nope, it does not. number one: if it weren't for your facebook ad, the customer would never have known about that product that they really enjoyed getting in the first place. people really love this hoodie and we're really grateful that it was advertised to them and they bought it. you had to pay for that advertising to do that, which you pass on to the customer. amazon doesn't advertise products. customers have to find them themselves. and number two, as an entrepreneur, you are in no way obligated to offer your product for the lowest price. here are two coffee shops around the corner from my apartment. they are across the road from each other. i walked into coffee shop a and bought my favorite coffee, a long black, for three dollars- and yes, i know that overseas the phrase long black might conjure up some different thoughts, but here in new zealand, and over in australia too, a long black simply refers to pouring an espresso shot over 100 to 120 mls of boiling water to create a stronger version of an americano with creamer. next i went into coffee shop b and again order long black, but this time it cost four dollars- completely different prices for an extremely similar product. and you know what? coffee shop a's three dollar coffee was the best. would you say that coffee shop b is a scam for charging a higher price for a worse version of this coffee? no, you would not. pricing is entirely subjective and is actually determined by the customer, not you. you present the customer with the price and it is up to them to decide if that price is worth it or not. and at the end of the day, if freaky pet are able to create a marketing campaign that gets people to purchase their hoodie for a higher price while being entirely upfront about the shipping times, then they 100 deserve that sale. 3. drop shipping is saturated. perhaps the most bizarre of all the claims is that drop shipping is dead and it's over since. well, it's saturated. and the truth is when i see comments like this, it blows my mind, because this comment literally makes no sense. here is what market saturation literally is. it's when a product has been maximized in a market, in other words, when all of the people who would want that product have bought it already. and here is what drop shipping is. drop shipping is when a customer buys a product that you've listed in your store for a markup price. when they do, you go to the manufacturer and you purchase that one product for the wholesale price and then have the

dropshipping proves to be a beneficial way to do. dropshipping is much easier and much convenient than cut and dry business. but to every business model there have some advantages and disadvantages to look forward to. if you want to succeed in any type of business, you will definitely need to know the pros and cons to really focus on the area where you need to put extra effort in. so, starting off with advantage of drop shipping, we have got very minimum startup cost. eliminates the expense of inventory. minimum fulfillment expense. hassle-free and risk-free- very minimal startup cost. in traditional model for e-commerce most of the time it requires you to start your business with some initial capital. with dropshipping business, you can eliminate some of these unfrom startup costs. in turn, you can spend more time and capital on things like website design and so on. no expense of inventory: in dropshipping, you do not need to keep the inventory and it eliminates the expense of keeping the inventory. minimum fulfillment expense: order fulfillment is not free at all. packaging materials like boxes and packaging materials are very costly. dropshipping means that your suppliers and distributors do all the fulfillment for your orders, which means you do not have to worry about the order processing and cost of order fulfillment. hassle-free: in dropshipping, you do not look products from your store. now its time for disadvantages of dropshipping. so far we have seen the pros of dropshipping, so now lets see some drawbacks as well. the drawbacks of dropshipping are forms: inventory automation, lower profit margins, highly competitive and dependency. inventory automation: as you do dropshipping, you always need to check the vendor website for inventory. for example, if one item has 5 inventory, so you may think that you can put quantity 2, but there might be so many competitors who sell the same price from the vendor. as a result, the stok might get stuck out before you notike in this way. if you are unable to fulfill the orders, your account might get suspended due to high rate of lead shipment. this may also increase the lead shipment rate of your account. it may also hamper your buy box for other items. for solution, you can build a middleware which help you to sync the inventory also. there are many apps which help to sync the inventory from your vendor to your seller account. you can also find many vendors already offering some application and tools that may also help you to automatikally sync your inventory to marketplaces. lower profit margin. the drawbacks off is that your overall profit margin are very lower. the potential to profit from customer purchase is very limited. in the long run you can still sell some items that has high profit margin and has a good sales rank- highly competitive. the need for very little capitals to start a dropshipping business make it very appealing to a lot of entrepreneurs. for this reason you are likely to encounter much more competition in this area than with a more conventional and inventory dependent e-commerce model. but if you can choose items from good vendors and selected high profitable items, you can yet gain a profit dependency. when you have a drop shipping business, you are railing on other business and companies to help your business. many of the suppliers and you the top marker. great. let's get to the content. so drop shipping is basically just buying and selling products from the manufacturer, and the manufacturer just ships that product directly to your customer, and you do this by setting up a website- uh, preferably a store. so let's tok about the concept. every single drop shipping business, customer support is required. you, as a business owner, need to deal with the customers, whether they're good or bad, in order for you to upkeep good ratings, because you need. you need good ratings for people to trust. you build that trust between your store and the consumer and and the power of reviews is really crucial when it comes to drop shipping, because your own store you rather have five stars- four stars and not one stuff. so customer service is one of the biggest things of drop shipping in order for you to find products that that have the highest margin, that that pay you the most is usually products from china. so this is the con, because most of the time, delivery from china usually takes at least two to three weeks for your customer to receive their product, and with the time frame that you're competing with amazon, like two day shipping or maybe even one day shipping- that's. that's a big con. you're fighting against amazon, a giant, a giant that's all over the world, so you got to keep that in mind. so not only are you competing with amazon, you're also competing with the suppliers and the manufacturers that put their own products on sale in their own website and amazon, and most of the time, these suppliers and these manufacturers that are on amazon can pretty much undercut you easily. even if your supplier doesn't compete with you, there's other suppliers that probably sell the same product that are competing with you and definitely undercutting you. so making a profit there is kind of hard too, so you got to keep that in mind. because of that, you need to find reliable suppliers. it's not just suppliers in china that are that are marketing their own products on amazon. it's the suppliers in your respective country that also do the same thing. because it's business, they want to make money, and you're just pretty much the middle person that's really competing with uh, with all these giants that actually can get the products at a way cheaper cost than you. so no matter what business plan you have, what a business that you're conducting, whether it's drop shipping or affiliate marketing, the big issues are always competitive. you're going to have a lot of competition when it comes to, when it comes to big niches, and rightfully so. with drop shipping, because, after coping happened, a lot of people started making their own shopify drop shipping business. the amount of drop shipping stores increased tenfold because of uh, because of covet, people started wanting to work from home and have their own business running. so competition is is increasingly harder compared to the years prior, at a rapid pace, especially if you're a beginner thinking about doing drop ship, because you probably heard that it's uh, it's easy money to do. all you have to set up is a store and you just tell people to buy from your store. it's way more than that and if your goal is to create passive income with drop shipping, then it's going to take a lot more money than you think. because in order for you to build and scale your business during drop shipping, you need to hire people. you, as a drop shipping store owner, can't waste time on media tasks like finding products to sell or writing descriptions or or managing your your customers. so even if you have the best crm, which is customer relationship management, you're still need- you're still going to need- people to to use that for you. you're still going to need to hire someone to to deal with that for you, because you have other bigger things that you need to do, such as marketing. marketing is probably at least 60 percent of the whole pie, because you need to do. you need to have constant traffic, which are which are eyeballs or potential clients to go to your store, be interested and start buying, in order for you to make money and or any profit at all so doing drop shipping. you can't become a solopreneur and create passive income. you need to hire people to help you out. you need a team for automation and scaling, because there's an increasing amount of stores being created, probably in your in the same niche as you. you need to stay connected with your supplier and really probably haggle and build a [Music]. now I want to mention as well is the advantages and disadvantages of dropshipping. the advantages of dropshipping is basically, you don't have to buy or hold any inventory. okay, and what that means is you don't have to invest any upfront capital or money. you literally can advertise products for sale and when the customer pays you the money, you can turn around, use that same money, pay the source and make the profit in between. that's the biggest advantage to drop shipping. another vanish to drop shipping is you can set it up a drop shipping store relatively quickly, especially if you're doing a drop shipping through eBay or Amazon. all right. so those are the advantages with dropship, and here are the disadvantages of drop shipping. the biggest disadvantage is, obviously, you have no control over the overall experience for the customer. okay, meaning you're not shipping the item. you're not in control of that. you're not in control of of, you know, the quality control, making sure that the product is indeed exactly what you're advertising. right, and that can be a problems, because sometimes customers may be getting the product a little bit late or they might not be getting the product that you advertised, so that potentially can and can give the customer a bad experience. so you're gonna learn about. you know what to do in those scenarios and then and how to prevent them as well, but that's pretty much the the biggest disadvantage of drop shipping. and another disadvantage is that there's a lot of competition. I'm gonna be really honest. there is a lot of competition when it comes to drop shipping because anyone can do it. it's not anything special or anything unique or anything proprietary. anyone can do it. so there is a lot of competition and with that, I'm gonna show you exactly what I do to the competition. I don't care about the competition. a lot of these other drop shipping gurus will teach you to copy other competitors items and play the price game war and price your item lower than theirs, and yet I don't even do that. okay, I don't care what other other sellers are selling their stuff for, I just sell it for the price that I sell it for and make a profit. that's all I care about. now. Shopify drop shipping basics for beginners. hi guys, Alex, hey, and welcome to my channel. money is also why share how to succeed online, and I also document my own journey. in this video I will cover Shopify drop shipping basics for beginners. this video is not a tutorial. it's not a guide to drop shipping. I will not be showing how to build Shopify drop shipping website and how to start drop shipping business. instead, I will start with the basic explanation: what Shopify drop shipping is as a business model, and then I will go through advantages and disadvantages of Shopify drop shipping. I will go pretty deep and I will cover every single point of advantages of this business model, as well as disadvantages. I want to present and explain to you guys what drop shipping really is, and I hope this video will help you understand deep enough and clarify to yourself. decide to yourself if drop shipping business is interesting for you and worth going into or not. now let's jump right to it. so here we are, guys on my laptop, and in this video I will cover Shopify drop shipping basics for beginners. I will explain you the concept of this business model, why it's so popular, what are the advantages and disadvantages and what is the difference between drop shipping and, let's say, a traditional e-commerce type of business. so stay tuned, guys, and let's get right to it. I will use my mighty Photoshop board to draw some basic concepts and show you what the drop shipping is all about. Before we jump to drop shipping, let me explain you first how a traditional e-commerce business worked. so here's your shop, right here in the bottom, and you're like, let's say, ecommerce shop, you have website, you have warehouse, you have your office where your team works and, yeah, in your warehouse you saw the supplies that the goods that you're selling on your website. so to make this model work, you have to contact the supplier and pay him wholesale price for the items and they delivered to your stokroom, to your warehouse, the product. so you stole this, this product, in your warehouse and then expose on like, upload onto your platform, your e-commerce shop, and then you drive traffic to your website, to your e-commerce shop. so customers visit your shop like a product, buy your product, pay you retail price is obviously higher than the hope, hope, same price. that's how you make money on this. and then, after they pay you money, you ship directly to the customer the product. so this is pretty much clear. this is this how the majority of retail businesses work, even brick-and-mortar ones, the offline ones. so now let me explain you how drop shipping business model work. so drop shipping is pretty much ecommerce big type of business as well. the main difference between traditional e-commerce is that you don't pay for the product before you sell the product, so you pay for the product after you receive money from your customer and you also don't store in your warehouse any of the products. that's all. you don't so that anything. that's why you can work from home in pajamas and you know. you know all the processes you handle online through your computer. now let me explain in more details also. the traditional model of drop shipping is where your supply is al Express and, yeah, you're sourcing the product from Aliexpress and you build your shop on Shopify platform. in my opinion, this kind of model is the most viable one. I mean, they're probably easiest to start with and because al Express has loads and loads of product all sorts of kinds and Shopify is just the superior platform in compares to the majority of other platforms where you can build the shop. so how dropshipping model really works. first you go to an Express, choose a product, upload images of the product, basically at least that product- on your Shopify store for, let's say, your retail price, and then you drive traffic to your shop. so this is the traffic of your customers. they pay you money for the product. so you basically charge them without having product like in advance. they basically placing the order for the product that you are selling them through our Express. so they give you money. then you take part of this money, that the wholesale price, and pay to supplier. so you pay the wholesale price to supply for the exact same product that your customer bought from your shop. so, and in your shop you keep the difference. in Al Express you fill out the form, you are paying, like you are as a payer, as a buyer of this product, but the delivery address you point to directly to the customer, this way that mentioned from Al Express sends this product directly to customer. there are a lot of, let's say, subtle details that you have to consider. first of all, you have to ask a supplier not to put the invoice inside of the package, mention that your drop shipper there- the majority of them that cool with us- and the only thing you have to kind of warn them or ask them if you are ok if they are ok with drop shipping, because it's gonna be really uncomfortable if you, for example, an item that on Aliexpress you you're buying for $1, you're selling for $10 to your end customer and they put $1.00 in words into the package. that's why you have to contact the supplier and ask them not to do that. the second thing is that the delivery times from Aliexpress are quite long. it's not like three days or something. it usually takes about a couple of weeks. it used to take up to 45 days back in the day when drop shipping was not even a thing, was not very popular, but now they. obviously Alex Press is developing as well and they are looking for the ways how to deliver as soon as possible for the cheapest possible price. I will show you al Express platform in a second. after we cover advantages and disadvantages, I will also show you a short fat platform, how it looks and how the final shop of drop shipping shop will look like. so the advantages of drop shipping: the first advantage is you need minimum investments for like to start drop shipping business. you don't have to store any items. you don't have to pay to the mention to your supplier in advance to order those items and to stok them in your local business. you can just least upload pictures on your shop, put the price description and start driving traffic to your shop and sell those products. and as soon as you receive the order, then you place the order on an Express and ship to your end customer. so this is one of the main reasons why drop shipping is such a popular and powerful business model for people who don't have a lot of money to start with and they want to succeed online and build some sort of business. the second advantage of our Shopify drop shipping is that you don't need warehouse, as I just mentioned in the first point, you don't need actually to have a warehouse. you don't have to rent a warehouse, you don't have to own it, you don't have to do any physical inventory, it just you know. everything is virtual. your Meishan holds all your products and is accountable for it. so this is another great. that's why you can actually work from home on your laptop, from coffee shop, from home, from the beach, from any way in the world. then the third advantage of Shopify drop shipping is that you don't have to bother with shipping and handling. I will give you an example. I have a friend who started their e-commerce business- not drop shipping, real ecommerce business. they were sourcing, they were buying, let's say, small parts, and created, were creating their own homemade jewelry- handmade homemade. sure, it was basically a couple, my friend and he is his fiancee- now is his wife after creating those jewelry. so they also needed to pack every single thing to print their dress, put it on the box and physically, like manually, go to the post office and post it. so with drop shipping, you don't do any of that. you just place the order online as if you were buying from Amazon. you just place the order on an express point, the deliver address over your customer and end the zip. then the fourth advantage of shop for drop shipping is high pote.
