How to Start an Auto Parts Business Online 2023 #autoparts

Hi everyone, welcome back to another episode of What's Your Game Plan. Today, I'm going to give you a quick start guide on how to start an online auto parts business.

The auto parts industry is bringing in $16 billion a year, and people are spending a lot of money buying expensive car parts from physical stores. But what if you could offer the same products at a much lower price? Your online store could be a huge success. If you're looking to start your own online auto parts store but don't know how, then you've come to the right place. Here's how to get started.

Method:

There are two methods to start this kind of business: you can set it up as a drop ship store where someone else is responsible for shipping the goods and all the products to your customer, or you can buy and ship out your own auto parts.

Step 1: Research

If you have no idea how an e-commerce business operates, or maybe you're a first-time business owner, I recommend downloading a plan from bplans.com. Their plans outline how the business is supposed to work and what you should expect. At the bottom of this video, you can buy the online auto parts business plan plus the vendor list, so you'll know exactly where to get your inventory from. Whether you've chosen the drop ship method or to buy your own inventory, the supplier research process is still exactly the same.

If you want to get started right away and you don't have a lot of money to buy inventory, you'll want to head over to Google and type in the secret words dropship auto parts. This will give you access to thousands of products to sell in your online store right away without actually needing to buy any of them.

If you do have some money and you want to manage your own inventory and keep products in your own warehouse, just Google these secret words buy wholesale auto parts, and as you can see, the listings have totally changed, and from here, you can find a company to buy and bulk from.

Step 2: Register Your Business

After you've got all that sorted, it's time to officially register your business. You won't be able to buy wholesale auto parts or even work with an auto parts dropshipping supplier until you complete this step. You'll need to register and apply for a federal EIN number and form an LLC or corporation. Depending on what state you're in, you'll likely also need a reseller or a retail merchant certificate as well. This is going to allow you to buy products tax-free. I recommend using my corporation as they do have a variety of packages to choose from, but their most basic package will get you started right away.

Step 3: Branding

Branding is one of the most important parts of creating an auto parts store because it's your brand's identity that will leave a big impression on your new customers. I recommend using 99designs because their process is quick, it's painless, and you actually get what you want. For marketing materials, I really like to use Envato because they literally have tons of graphics for each and every single kind of business on demand. An auto parts store will usually need to start with a logo, website, email marketing, banners, and some social media graphics. Luckily, 99designs has what they call the brand identity pack that will get you started right away.

Step 4: Buy Web Hosting

The next step is to buy web hosting. I always recommend choosing Bluehost because they are the most reliable provider for e-commerce websites, and you can actually check if your website name is available for free. With their packages, you'll also get bonuses. They're giving away free domain, a free SSL, advertising credits, and access to 24/7 tech support, so you really can't beat it. Once you pay for the plan with Bluehost, you'll get your login credentials, and you'll want to save this information and deliver it to the web designer in the next step.

Step 5: Web Design

So some of you may know, and some of you may not know about a company named Fiverr. They sell affordable web development and marketing services that get done really, really quick. All you do is type in what you want in the search bar, and then it will reveal tons of people who are willing to help you get your website set up in less than three days. Once you choose the person that you want to work with, go ahead and give them the Bluehost details and communicate your vision and your plans for the new website.

Step 6: Merchant Account

While they're working on your new website, you're going to need to activate what we call a merchant account, and this is in order for your customers to pay you through your website.

Step 7: Get Paid

Many businesses are using PayPal, Square, or Stripe. I personally like Square because they make it super easy for me to accept payments online via my website, through email, and you can even accept payments over the phone. The account with Square is free, so once you sign up, give these details to the web designer to complete the integration process.

Congratulations on owning an online auto parts store. I know you're going to do just great, and the people are going to love you. If at any point in this process, you start having doubts, please reach out to me. I'm happy to help at any time. Now at this point, you can choose from a variety of items to sell. Right now, the most popular items are air filters, radiators, AC compressors, air intake kits, brake pads, engine parts, fuel pumps, seals, and hoses. Don't forget you can also sell branded auto and car racing lifestyle clothing and accessories. These are very, very profitable and are huge money makers. Anyone who owns a car will eventually need to buy any of these products, so why not buy them from your business?

Startup Cost:

If you're launching using a drop ship supplier, the startup cost for this kind of business is anywhere from around $500 to $1500 on average. But if you're planning to fund your own inventory, you're going to need a large warehouse to store all the inventory and maybe even a couple of employees, so be prepared to drop the big bucks.

Final Thoughts:

I know a lot of people have dreamed of owning their own businesses and working for themselves, but they just don't know how to get started. So I hope that this video encourages you to make a change today and finally chase your dreams. I've given you everything you need to get started. Below this video are the links to the companies that I've mentioned, and I'm also giving away my new marketing strategy book series. If you want it, just go to my website, enter in your email address, and I'll send it to you right away. Auto parts eCommerce must haves for 2021

It's no secret that automotive e-commerce has its own unique set of challenges that other industries don't have to worry about. However, there are certain features that your automotive website must have in order to provide a good user experience. In this article, we'll discuss the three spokes of a good automotive experience: findability, compatibility, and value-added content.

Findability:

The first thing you need to focus on is findability. Your customers won't be able to find what they're looking for if your categorization and search functions are poorly designed. Your categorization structure needs to make sense to your customers, not just the IT person who set it up in some manufacturer's ERP system 12 years ago. Additionally, a good search function is vital for automotive sites that carry a large number of products. Your search needs to be simple to use and treat your site's visitors like they're idiots because when it comes to searching, they probably are.

Compatibility:

Fitment is another key aspect of your user experience. Doubt is your biggest enemy as a merchant, so you need to remove all doubt from your customer's mind when they're deciding whether to make a purchase. A well-designed user experience that instills confidence in the customer's mind that the product will fit their application is essential. Additionally, it's a best practice to have a garage feature that stores their selection for future reference and allows them to have multiple entries.

Value-Added Content:

Finally, data matters when it comes to automotive parts, and providing value-added content is essential to stand out from the competition. Raw product data is not enough; you need to provide unique value to your customers that they can't find anywhere else. Creating content such as blogs, videos, and installation guides for your products is a great way to provide that extra value.

Providing a good automotive e-commerce experience requires a focus on findability, compatibility, and value-added content. By implementing these three spokes, you can improve your user experience and stand out from the competition. If you need help improving your business, visit jamerson.com/go to see how we can help.

How I Make Money Selling Used Car Parts on eBay - Channel Introduction and Garage Setup

Hey everyone! Welcome to my channel where I'll be documenting my eBay business journey and sharing some tips and tricks with you guys. I've been doing eBay for about six or seven years now, but in the last 12 months, I've ramped it up and changed my business model. Recently, I moved across the country and had to start from scratch. So, I thought it would be a good time to start documenting everything and sharing my experiences with you all. Today, I'll give you a quick tour of my garage and show you how I currently run my business.

Sourcing Inventory:

To start with, let me explain how I source my inventory. I've learned from my dad's repair shop that there are many shops, dealerships, and body shops that have parts lying around on shelves for years. They don't need them, and they don't know what to do with them. So, I go to these shops and offer to sell whatever they have lying around that's worth something. I'll list, store, ship, and do all the customer service for them for a percentage fee. I work with new, used, aftermarket, and OEM parts. I prefer to work with high-end body shops that work on luxury brands like Mercedes, BMW, Porsche, Audi, etc., as those parts cost more money and tend to sell better on eBay.

Garage Tour:

Now, let me show you around my garage. It's about 20 by 9 feet, and I have enough room to put more shelves. I don't have everything organized right now, but I have this one shelf where I keep all the parts I've collected from different shops. I'll organize them by shop when I have more inventory. I have a scale, tape, paper, and everything I need to ship the items. I also have boxes, bubble wrap, and packing paper that I get for free from my apartment complex's recycling dumpster or from the shops that give them to me for free.

Future Plans:

I hope to grow my business and have more listings like I did back home. I plan to get more shelves and organize everything by shop. This may not look like much, but I'll make another video in the next few days going into more detail. I started this channel to document my journey and help people grow their own side hustles. It's easy once you streamline it, and I know I can help a lot of people make good money on the side by replicating what I do.

Thanks for watching, everyone! I hope you found this informative and helpful. Stay tuned for more videos where I'll be sharing my experiences and tips on how to run a successful eBay business. If you have any questions or suggestions, please leave them in the comments below.
