How to use Shopify with WordPress (Buy Button Tutorial)
what's up guys. i'm paul and welcome to the channel. so back in 2020, i did a tutorial on how to use shopify with wordpress, and even though that video has gone on to become one of the most popular ones on this channel, it is also the most disliked video on the channel as well, and i think the reason for that is there's a few things i missed out of that video that not only you guys have pointed out to me, but i've also realized myself the more i've played around using shopify with wordpress over the past 18 months or so since i made that video. so i thought it was about time i sat down and did an updated tutorial and cover off some of the things i missed in that original video. so, with the instruction out of the way, let's get this tutorial started. so the first thing i need to tok about is what you can use this with, because this is a tutorial for using shopify with a self-hosted wordpress site. for some reason, this method doesn't work with hostedwordpresscom sites. i don't know why that is. now some people have told me that it does work with the business and e-commerce packages, but i'm not paying 33 just to figure out whether or not this method works or not. i've got better things to spend my money on, so this tutorial is just using shopify with a self-hosted wordpress site. so now that we know we're going to need a self-hosted wordpress site, you're also gonna need an account with shopify as well, and if you haven't already got on these, i will leave my affiliate link in the description below, and what this means is, if you go through that link, i earn a small commission at no additional cost to you, but it is massively beneficial to me. so thank you to anybody who goes through that link. it is very, very much appreciated. now, one of the things people asked a lot in the question section on my other video was: how do you actually sign up to shopify like? because that's the package you're going to need to use this. you don't want any of the other shopify packages, and shopify doesn't make this abundantly clear as how to do this, so i'm going to show you how to do it. so what you want to do is you want to go into your shopify dashboard, go into settings, then click on plan and when it loads, click on change plan and it'll bring up all the options that shopify has for plans, but you don't want any of these options at the top. as you can see, i'm on a development account, but you'll have this when you're on your trial as well. but what you want to do is you want to actually scroll down to the bottom and see where it says remove your online store. now, this wording can be quite scary to some people, but what this basically means is they just remove the website builder from your package and then you're able to sign up to the shopify lite package for nine dollars a month, and all you want to do is click on that button and follow the instructions on the following pages and you'll be able to sign up to the shopify lite package. so now that we know how to sign up to shopify- how to sign up to the package that you want, it's time to get through and actually see how this actually works. so the first thing you want to do is you want to actually add the buy button- sales channel- to your shopify dashboard, and you can do this when you're on your free trial. in fact, it's worth going through the free trial and just making sure this is going to work for you and your business before you actually go through and sign up to a paid package. but what you want to do is you want to click on this plus icon here next to sales channels, and it'll bring up a list of all the sales channels that are available. now. not all of these are going to be available. if you've signed up to shopify lite, some of these will be removed. but what we want is this option here: buy button. so if we just click the plus icon there, what it will do is it will add that to our shopify dashboard and it will go through all this redirect thing while it's installing it coming with this page, and then it will go back to your original dashboard and, as you can see, we've had buy button added under sales channel here. now we're nearly good to go now. before we can actually go through and start setting a buy button up, you need to first go through and create your inventory, because if you've got no products or collections on your site, you're not going to be able to create a buy button. now i'm not going to show you how to do this in this video. i've done another video, which i'll link up here, showing you exactly how to set up a new product. but there are a couple of things you want to make sure are set up in your product listings before you set up a buy button. so if we just go into our products, we'll click on any product here. what you want to make sure is turned on is you want to make sure the product status is set to active. you also want to make sure the buy button is selected under the sales channels as well. if neither of these are selected, you're not going to be able to create a buy button around that product. so whenever you create a product, when you save it, make sure it's set to active and also it's available on the buy button sales channel as well, because then you'll be able to create your buy button. so with that bit of the way, let's go through and actually create a buy button. so what we're going to do is go into buy button and click on create a buy button. now you have two options available: you can create one for a single product or you can create one for collections. now for this video, i'm mainly going to focus on the product one, because there's more things to discuss in that one. but i will quickly show you how to set up the collections later on in the video. so what i'm going to do is click on product buy button and then you select the product that you want to create the buy button for that you previously created. now, for this tutorial, i'm going to use the signet ring. so click on that so it's selected. then click select and it'll bring up the customization options for the buy button. now, when it comes to layout style, there's three options that you can choose from. there's the basic one, which is just the basic button. you've got the classic one, which is kind of like a product card type thing, and then you've got a full view, which is like a full product listing. then you've got the action that happens when people click on the button and you can have it, so it adds the product to cart or it adds the product directly to the checkout. but there is another option available if you go with the basic or the classic option, and that is you can have an open product details option and what this does is it opens basically a full view listing of your product so you can add the description to this. i think this is a pretty neat touch actually, because you can have kind of the best of both worlds, depending on how you're going to have it displayed on your site. now, one thing i will say is, if you've formatted your product description when you've created the product, so maybe you've had bolding or bullet points, italics, things like that. they won't show up in this description here when you're looking at the preview. but when you actually copy this code over into your wordpress site, it will actually show all these formatting options. it just doesn't show them in this preview for some reason, i don't know why. so those are the different options that are available and those are the different actions that people take when they click the button. so if this one will just do it so it adds the product to cart, then you've got your button style options, and what you can do with this is you can choose to round off the corners at the bottom more if you want to. with the button corners option. you can also make the button wider if you want to as well, or narrower, depends on what you want. when it comes to the colors of the button, you can change the background color and you can also change the color of the text on the button as well, and you can also change the typography, so you can change the font and you can also change the size o.
Shopify vs WooCommerce For 2022 - The Battle Is Over
it's getting close to christmas, so let's go with the green backdrop. i hope you guys are all having a great year and your 2021 was as good as it could be, with everything going on, but let's hope for a better 2022 and in this video, if you're interested in building an ecommerce brand, i think this video is going to help you. it's the age old question: woocommerce or shopify? [Music]. you guys all might have your own opinion on this. i know i did for a while, being an old-school wordpress guy. all the websites we historically have built over the years of blue water marketing have been wordpress. so initially i would say: woocommerce is your answer. wordpress is free. shopify costs money. wordpress is highly customizable. shopify definitely is, or was not. so in this video, i'm going to break down my experience with the difference between woocommerce and shopify and now my view. i haven't used woocommerce in a while, so for those of you who don't know, woocommerce is a plug-in, essentially a software that goes within the wordpress dashboard that lets you build out your entire website using woocommerce wordpress in whichever page builder you want. so for page builders for wordpress, we use elementor- elementor pro. it's phenomenal. it allows you to drag and drop things wherever you want to ensure that you're getting a website that is customized to what your needs are. now for shopify, their regular themes need to be customized using liquid javascript, all these tiknical codes that i have no idea how to write. so the question for me was always: man? wordpress makes things a whole lot easier. now, diving deeper into the tiknical side of things, wordpress is a great plugin- i'm sure you guys all know about it- called yoast seo, and that helps optimize the wordpress website. so if you're able to piggyback wordpress with elementor pro, with woocommerce, with yoast and everything else that you can do to customize these websites and make your life really easy, i'd always say woocommerce. so woocommerce is going to be much better for customizability. and that's kind of it, because something huge just changed within the last couple of months with shopify. shopify was built and it's sales driven right. you have an easy access to ups, usps, dhl, every shipping option. you can customize your boxes. everything is integrated into the selling of your products. but it wasn't necessarily built for the ease of use for a general, normal person trying to start an e-commerce store. now, wordpress and woocommerce- you had to sign up for fedex and you had to do all these different things and get shipping plug-ins, and you had to do all these things in order to make the checkout process as seamless as possible and make the shipping as easy as possible. shopify was like: we're gonna do that first and it's phenomenal- discounts and codes, all of these different things- but again we go back to needing a custom developer. so what just happened changed everything for me. shopify released themes 2.0 and within each theme, it now has a drag and drop aspect. now you can't get crazy. there's certain things within shopify that are going to remain consistent. you can't just go and whip up a whole new block based on your likings. you have to use whichever ones are included within your shopify 2.0 theme. so let's just go through a couple of these quickly so that you can see the ease of use that i'm referring to. if you guys are finding this video useful, go ahead. give me a thumbs up, hit the subscribe button. i'm working to integrate more valuable content into my channel, so make sure to stay tuned. let's just go with focal for 280 dollars. within each one of these themes, you have three to four options. so right here we have carbon, then we have ivory and then we have quartz, and i like dark black t-shirts every single day of my life, so we're going to try to see what quartz looks like now. within this, you're able to actually try it and we'll just use my store as an example, which, if you don't know by now, check out savagemangroomingcom if you have a beard and need some moisturizer, oils, bombs, etc. so when i'm toking about customizing themes, i'm literally toking about you're able to add images, videos, text, whatever you were able to do prior, but now you're able to drag and drop things into the collection pages which you would used to have to custom code, and you can see right here slideshow. you can move this down. we can also add images. we can go ahead and scroll down even farther to add sections. now these sections are what i was referring to and that you can't completely change these unless you have a developer. you know how to write code on shopify, but you're able to add all of these aspects into your store, making it highly customizable for any business, especially someone just starting out with an e-commerce store. maybe you're set at like 5-10 grand a month and you want to take that next step. we're going to have to hire developer. now you can just upgrade to a shopify 2.0 theme. now everyone knows the difference between woocommerce, wordpress, shopify personally. from a sales aspect- apis, integrations, facebook ads, google ads, google analytiks- shopify has built out a platform that is way more robust again, in my opinion- and this is not a paid sponsorship, this is not an affiliate. there's none of that. this is truly just my opinion based on my own e-commerce stores, my clients, e-commerce. wordpress was just a really clunky builder to integrate everything in where shopify- although there is a price at thirty dollars per month for the base, or like two thousand dollars a month for the pro- shopify is more of a robust system that kind of has everything already that you're going to need. so let's just go back and see all of these different aspects of the pages. now, to make things even more interesting, you can go to your default products and you're able to literally add sections to your product page, which you used to never be able to do. it had to have been highly customized code. so again i go back to shopify. with this update, i believe is going to be the winner between the shopify versus woocommerce for 2022 and ongoing, because shopify- their stok price is phenomenal, their business is phenomenal, their ease of use is phenomenal, and their integrations are far superior than what you would have to manually integrate for your wordpress or your woocommerce store. i hope you guys enjoyed this video. guys, give me a thumbs up, hit the subscribe button. i hope you guys have a merry christmas, happy holidays, happy hanukkah- all of the above. i'm super grateful for you guys. this has been a phenomenal year, both for my agency, my e-commerce store, my family. i'm super grateful for all of you, so make sure to subscribe. we'll see you guys next week. [Music] you.

bada, ebay, mitsubishi and even staples, so you will be using the most modern and up-to-date software to build your ecommerce website. elementor is the number one most popular page builder for wordpress. it powers more than six million websites because it's completely drag and drop and really simple to use. plus, i will be providing you all with pre-made starter templates that you can easily import with one click to help you get your ecommerce website up and running quickly. so, with all that said, let's take a closer look at the ecommerce website that you'll be making today in this video. okay, so first let me show you all the home page now. this is an amazing landing page. so notike, at the top we have this header and we have our location, we have an email and you can also put your phone number. on the top right, we have our social profiles, where you can put your facebook, your twitter or your youtube. below that we have a shop button so users can click on this and go directly to the shop. also, they can click on the account and users can go directly to their own personal dashboard where they can access their orders. they can update their address and payment methods, and on the left side we have a logo. now, if you don't have a logo, don't worry about it, because i'm going to show you a website where you can get a really nice logo for really cheap. and in the middle we have our pages. so we have the home page, the about us page, the shop page, the my account, and we have this drop down with the checkout and also the cart, and then we have the contact, where users can send you messages if they have any questions about their orders. so let's scroll down now. this is just an amazing landing page. so landing pages are crucial for conversions and making sales on e-commerce websites. if you have an ugly website, no one's going to buy nothing. so this is just an amazing landing page. so at the top we have this 50 off banner, we have a summer sale notification. we have this 50 off to really increase conversions and sales for your ecommerce website, and then we have the starting price with this little red squiggly line under it to kind of emphasize the price. and then we have this shop now button where users will click on it and go to the shop page, scrolling down. here we have a banner section, so if you have specific product categories, like women's, men's or kids, you can categorize your products into different categories. so, for example, i have women's, i have new arrivals and i have men's. so i'll be showing you how you can categorize your products in this ecommerce tutorial, and below that we have just some icons like free shipping, quick payment and also you can offer anything you want. you can change this text and you can change the color to anything that you want. below that we have our products. so, for example, i have some products on sale right now. so this used to be 50 and now it is only 20 bucks. what a deal. now you can change the colors, you can change the sizes. you will have full control over your products. so i'll just click on add to cart and then these will be added to the cart where your users can go ahead and purchase this on your ecommerce website. so, scrolling down here, it's beautiful, i know. and then we have this banner so you can just have, like a big product, like you know, your newest product, and then you can, you know, tell people to go ahead and purchase it on your website. and then we also have these sale products, which is really cool. so this is kind of adding scarcity, saying, oh, these products are only on sale for a day. you got to go buy it, and then users can add it to the carts and they can go ahead and purchase it. now you can change this timer to anything that you want, and i'll go and cover more about that in the video. scrolling down, we have a newsletter section so your users can actually go ahead and subscribe to your website and get notifications about new products. you can send them coupon codes, you can send them offers for your ecommerce website. and then, scrolling down, we have just some logos like you can offer, like who we work with, and then we have this really nice footer where we have this red bar and also an email subscription, just in case they want to subscribe to your email list. so before i show you the shop page and the rest of the website, let me just give you all a brief overview about how the elementor page builder works. now we are using a visual drag and drop page builder, so at any time you want to make changes to your website, you can just double click on it and you can visually change anything that you want. if you want to change the price of this, you can change that. also, if you want to swap columns around, you can go ahead and just swap it around. of course that does not look good, so i'll put it back, and then you can change these category text to anything that you want. so instead of men's, i can put boys products, and if you want to swap columns around, you can go ahead and do that. also, on the top left, we can just drag in any element. so if you want to add a button to your ecommerce website, you just drag and drop it and there you go, and then you can customize this, and i'll show you how to do that in this tutorial, but i'll go ahead and delete it now. i did mention that you have full control and customization over your product. so, for example, i want to change the color and the topography of my products. i'll click on style and then, under the color, i can change this to something like red, and then, for the topography, we have a huge amount of topography fonts here, so you can just go ahead and click on one and then change the topography of your products for your ecommerce website. so this is going to be a fully functional ecommerce website that you can customize any which way you want. so next let's go to the shop page. so i'll click on the shop page and now we have this really beautiful banner. so we have this 50 summer sale and it starts now, and then, scrolling down, you'll notike on the left side, users can filter by price, we have product categories, we also have this really nice sidebar with products and we have the reviews for those products and, of course, users can just click on add to cart and add these products to their carts. scrolling down, we have a video of our products, if you want t.

see halfway through the day, i've already done over 2500 in sales and if we look at yesterday's stats, you can see that this store is averaging around five thousand dollars a day. everybody is always asking about profit, so let's take a look. yesterday i did around fifteen hundred dollars in profit and today, so far, halfway through the day, i'm at around in profit, which is close to 30 daily margin. i'm not showing this to brag, but just to prove that this layout is working. today, i figured the best way to explain this would be to make a sample store that follows this exact template, so that's what i did. let's have a look at that sample store. so this is a store that i created in the home and garden niche- the type of stores that i like to build to test products look just like this. basically, we're building a nice, clean, branded store with good logo, good images, multiple collections inside of that niche, high quality products and images and, overall, a trustworthy and legitimate feel. i get dms every single day of people asking me: why am i struggling to see results? and then i look at their store and it looks like this: if you take the time to make a nice, clean, branded website, seeing success with ecommerce is going to be so much easier. this kind of store is perfect for testing products because it is branded, it has a trustworthy feel, but it's also broad enough that you can test a variety of products without being too constrained. i like to call this kind of store a hybrid store. it basically bridges the gap between a general and niche store. building a store like this is really not that difficult, so i'm gonna break down how to do it right now. the first thing that you're gonna need to come up with is a clean name and logo. to come up with names, i highly recommend you guys check out this tool called lean domain search. basically, you can take any word or phrase that you like and plug it into here and they're gonna show you websites that are ready to go that have this word inside of it. so in my case, i used the word flora because it fit perfectly for the home and garden space, and i scrolled and scrolled until i found the name flora flow, which i really like. all of the names on this website are available to purchase for the com domain right away, so i would take some time and try to come up with at least five phrases that would fit with your branding. so now that you've come up with a name, you need to create a logo now. i know graphic design might be intimidating to a lot of you, but nowadays there are a ton of tools that make it incredibly simple. one of my favorite tools to do this is actually called canva. canva has a bunch of these logo templates already built into the app, and it's actually what i use to build the flora flow logo. you can literally scroll through their library and find a clean logo for your brand in seconds and know this video is not sponsored by them. i just really like their product. so, as you can see, the template that i use for the floraflow logo is right here. i literally typed in flower. i looked at the options, i found this one and i just simply typed in the logo name and then i made it a little bigger, centered it in the middle and i deleted the bottom and i made a logo for the brand in 10 seconds. now, look, it's going to take you longer than 10 seconds and you shouldn't rush the process, but i would highly advise you guys. use that tool to build your logo. i'm also a big fan of photoshop. for my brand that i'm running right now, i designed my logo in photoshop, but it's a lot more advanced and not very beginner friendly. once you've got a name and a logo, the next step is to build out a nice home page for your store. now, when you're running ads to this store, typically you're going to send people to the product pages. yeah, you might have a cool product, you might have a cool product page, but if your customer starts browsing around your website and they get a weird vibe, they're not going to spend money with you and even if they do, the chances of them remembering your brand and buying again are so slim. so this is the exact layout that i use for all of my home pages. let's break it down. there are a ton of themes to use on shopify and it can kind of be overwhelming. this store is actually built on the impulse theme, which is by far one of my favorite paid themes, and if you're looking for a good free theme, i recommend that you guys check out debutify. i've used both of them and personally i like impulse a little better, but if you're on a low budget, debutify is an amazing option. first things first. we need a nice and clean header. try to come up with something creative that introduces the people to your brand in a very inviting way. now i could have easily wrote the best products for your home and garden, but i think it's much better to put something that has a little bit more flair and life to it. so in this example, i put stylus essentials for the modern home designed to elevate your lifestyle. if you're struggling with copywriting, just go look at some of the biggest brands out there. in terms of this image and all the images on the site, shopify actually provides a bunch of really sick free images and a lot of people don't know about this. so if you go down to image and you click on change and you go to free images, you can search up almost anything. so in my case, i searched up flower and you'll see that shopify has a bunch of these really nice high quality images that they're constantly updating almost every single week, and they're really fire. the next thing i do is typically put one of our collections on display. in this case it's the best sellers, because those are my favorite products on the store, so i wanted to put those front and center and when they click on it, you're gonna see that these are our top selling products and a nice, clean, organized page. we also give them an offer with up to fifty 50 off on the select products, and it's just something that gives them some incentive to click and start shopping. the next thing that i really like to do is show some type of mission statement for the brand. i think that this really helps your customers connect with you and feel like they're a part of something greater than just buying a product. so you can see, what i put here is that we want to help over 10 000 people create their dream environment through providing our own unique products worldwide. now, this is going to be different for everybody, so make sure that you come with something unique for your brand. and once again, i just took the image directly from shopify. now, the next thing that i threw in here: it was just a promotion. you don't need to have this, but i included it because i thought it looked nice, so you can just see it's 50 off of our spring and summer collection. and then i just put a little blurb about stay at home and stay at peace with these essentials t.
