Coming up on today's episode, I'm cooking your recipe and we've got another recipe from one of my favorite cookbooks, Vegan for Everybody. We're making energy bars that are full of protein and complex carbohydrates to get you through the day. And yes, my glasses are still crooked. Let's get started!

- Welcome back to another episode of Plant Based Ads with Joey.

- Today, we're putting together one of my favorite treats, an all-day energy bar.

- Made of nuts, seeds, and dates, these bars will keep you going all day long.

- This recipe is from one of my favorite cookbooks, Vegan for Everybody by America's Test Kitchen.


- Raw almonds (1/2 cup)

- Raw cashews (1/2 cup)

- Pepitas (pumpkin seeds) (1/3 cup)

- Golden whole flax seeds (3 tablespoons)

- Sesame seeds (1 tablespoon)

- Sunflower seeds (1/4 cup)

Roasting the nuts and seeds:

- Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.

- Spread the nuts and seeds on a baking sheet in a single layer.

- Roast them in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes, mixing every 5 minutes.

- The roasted nuts and seeds will bring out the flavor in the bars.

Chopping the nuts and seeds:

- Pulse the roasted nuts and seeds in a food processor, just enough to roughly chop them.

- Transfer the chopped mixture to a mixing bowl.

Making the mixture that holds it all together:

- In the food processor, combine quarter cup of chopped medjool dates, quarter cup of warm tap water, two tablespoons of maple syrup, half teaspoon of salt, one tablespoon of ground flax meal, and half tablespoon of orange zest.

- Blend the mixture for 30 to 45 seconds, scraping down the sides as needed.

Combining the date paste with the roasted nuts:

- Mix the date paste with the chopped nuts and seeds in the mixing bowl.

Preparing the bars:

- Transfer the mixture to a prepared 8x8 pan lined with foil.

- Press it down to create an even layer.

Baking the bars:

- Bake the bars in the oven for 20 minutes, rotating halfway through.

- Let them cool for 15 minutes before cutting them into 10 bars.

Final baking and cooling:

- Place the bars on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for an additional 15 minutes.

- Transfer the bars to a wire rack to cool for an hour.

- After cooling, the bars are ready to eat.

- The flavors of the nuts, seeds, and dates come together in a delicious and nutritious treat.

VERB Energy Bar: how I feel after trying the "free" samples | Food Review

Honestly, I've been seeing their ads on Instagram for a while, but I never had a chance to try it. I was just like, Okay, I'll just order a pack of free samples and give it a shot. It took about a week for me to receive it in my mailbox.

The four flavors that I received are coconut chai, lemon raspberry, vanilla latte, and salted peanut butter. Size-wise, they are actually pretty small. If you compare them to random bars from my pantry, the net weight is usually around 1.2-1.5 ounces. But these bars are only 0.78 ounces, which is almost half the size of a regular bar.

But the whole point of these bars is the caffeine. So, I'm in my car for a quick break today. I had a very early errand to run, so I went without having my coffee. Now, I'm going to try this bar. This one is the vanilla latte flavor. Let's see how well it works.

I open it, and it looks like this. It definitely tastes like vanilla, but I'm not sure about the latte part. It's just like a chewy granola bar, to be honest. I still ended up having my coffee afterwards.

Next, we have the lemon raspberry flavor. It looks similar, so I take a bite. I thought it would smell very lemony, but it's actually pretty bitter. I can't taste the raspberry. I'm not sure how I feel about this one.

I apologize for the editing. I couldn't find the rest of the clips, but if I remember correctly, the coconut chai and salted peanut butter flavors tasted exactly the same. Flavor-wise, they're not that bad, especially the peanut butter one. I love everything with peanut butter.

In general, my comment on this product is that as an energy bar, it's way too small. I know it only has 90 calories per bar, but after biting through it, you just don't feel anything in your stomach at all. You're still so hungry. The 65 milligrams of caffeine definitely won't work for me. Personally, I always end up grabbing another coffee afterwards. I would say it just won't kick in my body.

If you're the type of person like me who is just curious about food, you can definitely give it a try. But if not, it's just okay.

Energy Bar | Vitamix

Hi, I'm Lindsay Moreau. Today, I'm going to use a Vitamix to show you how to make nut bars. These bars use dates, which have glucose in them. Glucose will give you instant energy. But they also have a lot of nuts, which have healthy fats. These healthy fats will break down more slowly and give you sustained energy. So, you'll get energy right away and it'll stay level.

To make nut bars, we're going to use cashews and dates to make our base. To this base, we can add any sort of nuts or dried fruits we want to make different flavors. For our first batch, you'll need:

- 1 cup of cashews (raw cashew pieces will work just fine)

- 1/4 cup of peanuts

Now that we have all the dry ingredients in our Vitamix, we're ready to blend. Start on a low speed and work your way up to high.

Before adding the dates, make sure there are no pits in them by squeezing lengthwise. If you have a pit, the Vitamix will be fine, but human teeth not so much. Now add 1 cup of dates.

Blend again, this time using the tamper to make sure all the dates and peanuts are mixed up. It may be a bit challenging, but do your best.

Once blended, you'll have a thick paste-like material. That's exactly what you want it to look like. Now it's time to refrigerate.

Now that you've seen how to make the peanut butter flavor, you're ready to get creative. Just remember to keep the wet to dry ratios the same. For example, if you want to make lemon blueberry poppy seed, replace the 1/4 cup of peanuts with poppy seeds. For the dates, replace some of them with dried blueberries and give it a squeeze of lemon or use lemon extract for that nice lemon pop.

Automachef Tips & Tricks - Energy Bar 100% Efficiency

Hello and welcome, fellow Thomas chefs! Today we're going to go over level 16 of the energy bar. I struggled with this level, to be honest. It took me a long while to get through it, but here we have it. We have 50 orders to fulfill, power usage has to be less than 4000 watts, and we have to use fewer than 2240 ingredients. Let's get started!

Here's what I did to beat this level:

- I used three recipes: the beach burger, chicken salad, and fries.

- The beach burger consists of a bun, three patties, one grilled mushroom, and one tomato slice.

- The chicken salad includes two shredded lettuce, one shredded carrot, one grilled chicken piece, one tomato slice, and 50 milliliters of salad dressing.

- The fries are just potatoes.

I set up three separate production lines. Let's go over each one:

1. Beach Burger:

- I started with the top part of the production line. The mushroom goes through the food processor to be chopped.

- I used a high-speed dispenser to dispense the three patties.

- The dumb arm picks up the patties and puts them on the electric grill, which is the cheapest in terms of cost and power usage.

- I have two smart arms to pick up the cooked patties and grilled mushroom pieces and put them into an advanced assembler, which is the fastest.

- The beach burger pops out of the assembler and goes onto the conveyor belt. It's done!

2. Chicken Salad:

- I have an order reader set to do everything at once, except for the patties, which you need three of.

- I set the times a little bit higher because the high-speed dispenser is pretty quick. I set it to four seconds, so every cycle takes 12 seconds.

- The mushrooms, tomato, and lettuce go through the food processor as well.

- I used a long arm to pick up all the ingredients for the chicken salad and put them into the advanced assembler.

- For the carrots, I had them go through the food processor twice to get shredded carrots. This way, I used the least amount of food processors.

- You need a liquid storage tank for the salad dressing. Make sure to have an initial load of at least 30 milliliters. Connect it to a pump that will pump 50 milliliters into the advanced assembler.

3. Fries:

- The fries production line is the simplest. I used a dispenser for the potatoes set to five seconds.

- The dumb arm picks up the potatoes and puts them into the fryer.

- The smart arm picks up the fried potato wedges and dumps them into the packaging machine, which is set to make fries.

- I connected an order reader to the potato dispenser and the fryer. I set it to dispense one potato per order and to turn on the fryer when overspending to save a little bit more energy.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

- This level is really expensive in terms of ingredients for the recipes.

- One possible strategy is to intentionally fail some orders during rush hour. You only lose 5% of reputation for failing those orders instead of the usual 20%.

- Lowering the numbers too much will cause you to exceed the power requirement, so be careful.

- I managed to meet all three requirements for this level and had 100% efficiency with only three failed meals.
