00:00:00 | 00:00:02 | Hey Miles here, milesbeckler.com. |
00:00:02 | 00:00:06 | In this video I've got the month eight update for my affiliate marketing website |
00:00:06 | 00:00:09 | case study. We're going to go through all of the numbers. |
00:00:09 | 00:00:13 | Plus you're going to learn why this is most likely going to be my very last |
00:00:13 | 00:00:18 | update on the affiliate marketing site because a few things have changed and |
00:00:18 | 00:00:19 | come up in the data. |
00:00:19 | 00:00:22 | It makes me realize that I'm probably going to have to stop making these videos |
00:00:22 | 00:00:25 | for you and you're going to learn why at the end. |
00:00:25 | 00:00:30 | But first let's jump into the data because we're in the growth curve at this |
00:00:30 | 00:00:32 | point and things are starting to get really exciting for us. |
00:00:32 | 00:00:36 | So in the month eight update, what we're looking at is the January data. |
00:00:36 | 00:00:38 | So that is the eighth month I've been building it. |
00:00:38 | 00:00:40 | So we're looking at like January versus December data. |
00:00:41 | 00:00:43 | Really clean data cause both months have 31 days. |
00:00:43 | 00:00:48 | So all traffic on the website combined was up 96% so about a hundred percent |
00:00:49 | 00:00:53 | growth at about doubled the traffic. But here's the cool part of the traffic. |
00:00:54 | 00:00:57 | 183% increase in Google organic traffic. |
00:00:58 | 00:01:00 | What this means is we're ranking better. |
00:01:00 | 00:01:03 | We're ranking for more keyword phrases and for the keyword phrases that we're |
00:01:03 | 00:01:05 | already ranking, they're moving up, |
00:01:05 | 00:01:08 | which means we're getting more clicks and we're getting more traffic. |
00:01:08 | 00:01:13 | Also on the search engines being is up 72% a duck duck go is up 316% and Yahoo |
00:01:16 | 00:01:21 | is up 87% so what this means is the site is now ranking in all of the major |
00:01:21 | 00:01:22 | search engines. |
00:01:22 | 00:01:25 | They're all driving us traffic and they're all driving us more traffic. |
00:01:26 | 00:01:29 | And the trend is continuing because I'm recording this in the middle of |
00:01:29 | 00:01:30 | February, so I'm kind of, |
00:01:30 | 00:01:34 | I was able to glance at the current data and this trend is not slowing down. |
00:01:34 | 00:01:36 | It's not stopping. This is the idea of compound and growth. |
00:01:36 | 00:01:38 | And I'm going to say this again and again in this video, |
00:01:38 | 00:01:40 | and you've probably heard me say this before, uh, |
00:01:40 | 00:01:44 | there's a long lag time of putting in work, putting in energy, |
00:01:45 | 00:01:46 | creating the content, |
00:01:46 | 00:01:49 | doing the day to day work before we start to see the results. |
00:01:49 | 00:01:52 | But then the results begin to compound and that's what we're seeing. |
00:01:52 | 00:01:57 | Our impressions are up 175% so this means almost a double as many times we're |
00:01:59 | 00:02:01 | showing up in the search engines, which is great. |
00:02:01 | 00:02:06 | Our click through rate is up 20% this means our titles and our descriptions are |
00:02:06 | 00:02:07 | getting the click and this really comes down. |
00:02:07 | 00:02:11 | We've had some writer challenges in the beginning. |
00:02:11 | 00:02:13 | We were using some teams that just weren't very good, |
00:02:13 | 00:02:16 | they weren't experts in our world and we have changed that over the last few |
00:02:16 | 00:02:18 | months. So the content we're putting out has better titles, |
00:02:18 | 00:02:22 | better descriptions is getting clicked on more often and it is growing. |
00:02:22 | 00:02:26 | Our average position has moved up 10% as well, |
00:02:26 | 00:02:29 | so that means Google is liking the site even more. |
00:02:29 | 00:02:31 | That also means we probably got a higher click through rate. |
00:02:31 | 00:02:35 | Those two are correlated there, so those are kind of the leading indicators. |
00:02:35 | 00:02:39 | The actual data from our search volume. What about money? Right? |
00:02:39 | 00:02:41 | How much money is this thing making? |
00:02:41 | 00:02:46 | Well at this point it's $80 and 22 cents in total revenue from last month. |
00:02:46 | 00:02:49 | Which is an 18 fold increase. That's right. |
00:02:50 | 00:02:53 | Our revenue has gone up 18 times what it was. |
00:02:53 | 00:02:56 | And I'm going to give you some revenue projections to show you where I kind of |
00:02:56 | 00:02:59 | expect we might be able to, um, |
00:02:59 | 00:03:03 | end the year at that 12 month point because, um, |
00:03:03 | 00:03:06 | we're starting to see the compounding on the revenue side as well, |
00:03:06 | 00:03:08 | which is extremely powerful. |
00:03:08 | 00:03:13 | Now I set up the multi-country approach, so I'm now also getting, |
00:03:14 | 00:03:18 | um, from Canada, from UK, both the traffic that comes in from the Canadian, |
00:03:18 | 00:03:19 | Amazon and the UK. Amazon, |
00:03:20 | 00:03:23 | they are actually counting towards our sales. Uh, |
00:03:23 | 00:03:26 | if you don't kind of go in and set this up through Amazon, |
00:03:26 | 00:03:29 | you don't actually get the credit or the affiliate commissions when someone in a |
00:03:29 | 00:03:32 | foreign country other than your main country buys. |
00:03:32 | 00:03:36 | I got that all set up and we have seen sales in both Canada and the UK which |
00:03:36 | 00:03:38 | means that our sites working not only in the United States, |
00:03:38 | 00:03:41 | it's working in Canada, the United States and the UK as well. |
00:03:41 | 00:03:46 | And we are receiving commissions from there. Um, so at this point in February, |
00:03:46 | 00:03:47 | okay. So I looked at were um, |
00:03:47 | 00:03:50 | midway through February and I looked at the beginning of this midway part in |
00:03:50 | 00:03:54 | February versus where we were last year and we've tripled, |
00:03:54 | 00:03:57 | we've tripled how much revenue we've generated for Amazon, right? |
00:03:57 | 00:03:58 | The number of sales that we've generated, |
00:03:59 | 00:04:04 | and we've tripled our own commissions at this point compared to the same time. |
00:04:04 | 00:04:06 | So I want to run you through these numbers real quick about how it went. |
00:04:06 | 00:04:10 | So a few months ago we had our first sales and we had our first month at a |
00:04:10 | 00:04:11 | dollar 50. Right? And I was like, yeah, |
00:04:11 | 00:04:12 | you could almost buy a cup of coffee here. |
00:04:13 | 00:04:17 | So then it went from a dollar 50 to $4 and 50 cents. Okay. |
00:04:17 | 00:04:20 | Then from $4 and 50 cents, the revenue jump the next month to 80. |
00:04:21 | 00:04:24 | Now I have seen nothing less than a 3X increase. |
00:04:24 | 00:04:27 | And currently month to month, month over month, |
00:04:27 | 00:04:30 | for the first two weeks of the month, I'm seeing a 3X increase. |
00:04:30 | 00:04:34 | So we're at month eight. If the revenue continues to grow at this same rate, |
00:04:35 | 00:04:40 | that means next month a 3X increase from 80 would put me at $240 and then month |
00:04:41 | 00:04:46 | 10 a 3X increase would put me at $720 then month 11 would put us at a 3X |
00:04:48 | 00:04:52 | increase of about $2,160 and then month 12 at one year. |
00:04:52 | 00:04:56 | That would put us at $6,480 in the month, |
00:04:56 | 00:04:59 | which means we would absolutely crush our goal, |
00:04:59 | 00:05:03 | but the odds of a consistent 3X increase... They're not that real. |
00:05:03 | 00:05:04 | Let's be honest, |
00:05:04 | 00:05:08 | nothing goes geometrically even there's going to be ups and downs and I'm okay |
00:05:08 | 00:05:09 | with it. |
00:05:09 | 00:05:12 | But what's happened is I've proved the model for myself and I've shown that this |
00:05:12 | 00:05:13 | clearly works. Now, |
00:05:13 | 00:05:17 | I mentioned in the beginning that I was going to tell you why I have to stop |
00:05:17 | 00:05:18 | putting these kinds of updates out. |
00:05:18 | 00:05:22 | So one thing I've notiked in the data is I am getting branded searches. |
00:05:22 | 00:05:26 | Now I'm getting people searching for my name and the brand name. |
00:05:26 | 00:05:30 | What has happened is somewhere somehow people are attempting really hard or |
00:05:30 | 00:05:35 | toking about or discovering what my kind of scientific site it was meant to be |
00:05:36 | 00:05:38 | a scientific study, |
00:05:38 | 00:05:43 | which means I can't have outside interjection of traffic or it messes up my |
00:05:44 | 00:05:47 | scientific data. And at this point the scientific data has been messed up. |
00:05:47 | 00:05:50 | So people are either toking about us, sharing about us. |
00:05:50 | 00:05:53 | My goal with this YouTube channel has always been to be the most helpful |
00:05:53 | 00:05:57 | marketer in the world, which means I'm going to share as much as I possibly can, |
00:05:57 | 00:06:02 | but then people think that they can maybe gain brand value by toking about me |
00:06:02 | 00:06:03 | by um, |
00:06:03 | 00:06:08 | revealing things that I attempted to keep under wraps for many specific reasons. |
00:06:08 | 00:06:11 | And that is why I'm going to stop doing these updates. |
00:06:11 | 00:06:15 | I might do one more update at month 12 to let you know how we kept up the year, |
00:06:15 | 00:06:19 | but honestly I might not. And it's that whole philosophy of you know what, |
00:06:19 | 00:06:21 | YouTube, this is why we can't have nice things. Right? |
00:06:22 | 00:06:25 | I was trying to do a scientific step-by-step, |
00:06:25 | 00:06:29 | really truly kind of neat and tidy study here to see is it possible to get to |
00:06:29 | 00:06:33 | $3,000 per month. But now my numbers are all getting skewed. |
00:06:33 | 00:06:37 | And what this leads me to believe is that a people are going to start copying |
00:06:37 | 00:06:38 | and mimicking what I'm doing, |
00:06:38 | 00:06:41 | be more people are going to try to find out what's going on here and I'm ready |
00:06:41 | 00:06:42 | to just disappear. |
00:06:42 | 00:06:47 | So I'm going to go build with my team in private the rest of this asset and |
00:06:47 | 00:06:50 | we're going to take this to $3,000 per month and beyond. |
00:06:50 | 00:06:52 | And then I'm going to build another affiliate marketing site because I am |
00:06:52 | 00:06:54 | building a division of this for my business. |
00:06:54 | 00:06:59 | I do feel like this is a great way for me to reinvest capital from my business |
00:07:00 | 00:07:04 | in a realm that I have great expertise to grow additional cashflow. |
00:07:04 | 00:07:06 | This is in addition to my real estate investing, |
00:07:06 | 00:07:10 | which is kind of one of the other places where I invest my money's there. But, |
00:07:10 | 00:07:11 | uh, it's unfortunate in some regards, |
00:07:11 | 00:07:15 | but I have to do what is right for my business and for myself. |
00:07:15 | 00:07:16 | So this thing's going back under wraps. |
00:07:16 | 00:07:19 | I hope you've enjoyed these updates at this point. |
00:07:19 | 00:07:24 | I believe in total we spent about $26,000 and we had another month. |
00:07:24 | 00:07:25 | I think we spend about $3,000. |
00:07:25 | 00:07:30 | I'll have a link below the video in the description to the blog post of this to |
00:07:30 | 00:07:33 | where I track all of the exact things we spent the money on, et cetera, |
00:07:33 | 00:07:33 | et cetera. Again, |
00:07:33 | 00:07:38 | my whole idea and a philosophy here was can I build this with almost zero input |
00:07:39 | 00:07:44 | from me with just throwing money at it? I will say at this point, um, |
00:07:44 | 00:07:46 | if someone did not have the skills that I have, |
00:07:46 | 00:07:49 | if someone did not have the knowledge of internet marketing, uh, |
00:07:49 | 00:07:54 | it would be very difficult to build a website of this caliber of this stature, |
00:07:54 | 00:07:56 | 100% hands off. I, |
00:07:56 | 00:08:01 | I've had to get in there with my team multiple times to refine their processes, |
00:08:01 | 00:08:03 | to really focus them on the right things. |
00:08:04 | 00:08:08 | It's a very difficult thing to just throw money at an affiliate website, |
00:08:08 | 00:08:11 | which is why you don't see all of the millionaires, the DECA millionaires, |
00:08:11 | 00:08:15 | the center millionaires in our world. They're not investing in this world, |
00:08:15 | 00:08:17 | which is great for you if you're a bootstrapper. |
00:08:17 | 00:08:19 | If you're somebody who's ready to put in three, |
00:08:19 | 00:08:23 | four years of hard work to really learn the game and learn the systems and build |
00:08:23 | 00:08:24 | the content and build the audience. |
00:08:25 | 00:08:30 | It's ripe for the picking because it really does take a lot of life energy. |
00:08:30 | 00:08:35 | And when I say I've spent $26,000 on this, think about it like a part time job. |
00:08:35 | 00:08:36 | If you went and got a part time job, |
00:08:36 | 00:08:38 | would you make about 26 grand in the next year? |
00:08:39 | 00:08:41 | Odds are if you're worth 20 bucks an hour, you would. Okay, |
00:08:42 | 00:08:46 | so that's what I've essentially done here is treated this like a part time side |
00:08:46 | 00:08:48 | gig with other people's time instead of my own. |
00:08:48 | 00:08:52 | I will also say last note on this one is my personal brand, |
00:08:52 | 00:08:57 | this miles Beckler brand and also my wife's personal brand group with much |
00:08:58 | 00:09:03 | higher revenue more quickly than selling random products through an Amazon |
00:09:04 | 00:09:08 | affiliate site. So if you have a level of expertise in something, |
00:09:08 | 00:09:11 | if you can help people lose weight, if you can help people build racing drones, |
00:09:11 | 00:09:15 | if you can help people win at a, at a game or an Eastboards or something, |
00:09:15 | 00:09:17 | if you are able to sell coaching, |
00:09:17 | 00:09:21 | if you're able to create courses and you can help people solve their problems, |
00:09:21 | 00:09:22 | uh, achieve their goals, |
00:09:23 | 00:09:27 | there's probably a faster way for you to build income by leveraging your |
00:09:27 | 00:09:30 | expertise. If you've been a financial advisor for years and years, |
00:09:30 | 00:09:33 | if you've been an insurance agent and you have a really creative insurance |
00:09:33 | 00:09:34 | project, et cetera, et cetera, |
00:09:34 | 00:09:39 | building off of that expertise is going to be a faster approach to cash. |
00:09:39 | 00:09:44 | But I do feel confident that I have proven that anyone can go out and create a |
00:09:44 | 00:09:47 | brand new site on a new topic they don't know much about because I didn't, |
00:09:47 | 00:09:51 | I'm not an expert in this topic. And through with enough hard work and energy, |
00:09:51 | 00:09:56 | you can build a real business online and we've done it here again and |
00:09:56 | 00:09:58 | unfortunately this is going to be the last update. |
00:09:58 | 00:10:02 | There's a chance I'll feel like doing a one year update. But honestly, |
00:10:02 | 00:10:05 | I feel burned a little bit. I don't know exactly where this is coming from. |
00:10:05 | 00:10:07 | I don't really care where it's all coming from, |
00:10:07 | 00:10:10 | but I can just see that it started and I just realized that at this point I got |
00:10:10 | 00:10:13 | to keep some of my intellectual property as private as I can. |
00:10:14 | 00:10:17 | I've got to do what's best for my business because ultimately in the long term, |
00:10:18 | 00:10:21 | I am CEO of my little corporation here and this is a business and that's why I'm |
00:10:21 | 00:10:25 | doing this. This is not charity, this is not UNICEF. And if this gets swiped, |
00:10:25 | 00:10:29 | deployed, copied, Copyscape and ruined, uh, now it'd be kind of a challenge, |
00:10:29 | 00:10:31 | right? If they're in a lot of money at this. |
00:10:31 | 00:10:35 | So that's the way the cookie crumbled on this one. I do appreciate you. |
00:10:35 | 00:10:38 | If you've liked these updates, please let me know. I do appreciate that. And um, |
00:10:38 | 00:10:39 | I thank you very much. |
00:10:39 | 00:10:43 | I do think that affiliate marketing is a great business model. Personally, |
00:10:43 | 00:10:46 | I would never stop doing coaching, consulting, |
00:10:46 | 00:10:50 | membership sites and e-courses to start an affiliate marketing business. |
00:10:50 | 00:10:51 | I think it is a, |
00:10:52 | 00:10:57 | I think that the intellectual property based content around your expertise, |
00:10:58 | 00:11:01 | uh, coaching programs, selling a one on one services, small group services, |
00:11:01 | 00:11:04 | selling marketing services, selling courses, selling memberships, |
00:11:04 | 00:11:08 | that is a far more lucrative world than the world of affiliate marketing. |
00:11:09 | 00:11:11 | Affiliate marketing is great for those individuals who say, miles, |
00:11:12 | 00:11:14 | I don't have any expertise. I don't know what to do. |
00:11:14 | 00:11:18 | I just need to do something. Then this is a great way to build skills. |
00:11:18 | 00:11:20 | You'll build skills in the world of digital marketing. |
00:11:20 | 00:11:23 | You'll learn how SEO works. You'll learn how to publish content, |
00:11:23 | 00:11:25 | you'll learn how to create great review sites. |
00:11:25 | 00:11:28 | You'll learn how to drive traffic, and those skills can be leveraged. |
00:11:28 | 00:11:32 | And you could start a small agency where you can really quickly get to that 10 |
00:11:32 | 00:11:36 | grand per month Mark when you have the ability to drive traffic, build websites, |
00:11:36 | 00:11:41 | and essentially help other local businesses who have monetization systems really |
00:11:41 | 00:11:44 | truly grow what they have. So I like it. It's been fun. |
00:11:44 | 00:11:47 | I thank you very much for your interest and your time. Any questions? |
00:11:47 | 00:11:49 | I'll try to get at the comments as best I can, but on that note, |
