In this article, we will be discussing checkout settings and shipping zones on Shopify. By following these steps, your customers will have a smooth checkout process when purchasing from your store. Let's get started!
- Go to your Shopify dashboard and click on Settings and then Checkout.
- Under Customer Accounts, choose to leave it disabled or make it optional. Avoid making it mandatory.
- Decide if you want customers to check out using either a phone number or email. In our opinion, the email option is more than enough.
- For Receive Shipping Updates, choose the option where the customer can add a phone number or email to receive updates after completing their order.
- For Form Options, require a first and last name. The company name can be left as hidden or optional. The shipping address phone number can be hidden as well.
- Leave the rest of the options as default and click on Save.
- Go to your Shopify dashboard and click on Settings and then Shipping and Delivery.
- Click on Manage Rates and remove the default shipping zone.
- Click on Add Location and name it something like US Warehouse.
- Use a valid and real address from the US. You can find examples in the resources PDF for this course.
- Go back to the shipping menu and click on Show Details under Shipping From. Manage the one that's not relevant and click on Done.
- Click on the three dots next to the default shipping zone and delete it.
- Click on Add Shipping Zone and name it something like Ship to USA. Add the United States as the country.
- Click on Add Rate and name it Free Shipping. Keep the price at zero dollars.
- Save the shipping zone and now customers from the United States can buy products from your store.
