This meal features gravy over salisbury steak made with chicken, pork, and beef, cream mashed potatoes, cinnamon apple dessert, and sweet corn. The picture on the box looks appetizing, with grill marks on the steak and steam coming off everything. However, the actual meal is a disaster. The steak is oblong, the corn is desiccated, and the gravy looks like jelly. The taste is not great either, with the corn being the worst offender. We will give it a total score of 5.
3. Amy's Palak Paneer:
This meal features creamed spinach and cheese with rajma dal, organic red kidney beans in a ginger garlic sauce, and basmati rice. The picture on the box looks impressive, with a dark plate and nicely presented food. The actual meal is not too far off from the picture, with the spinach covering the paneer. The taste is also quite good, with the spinach and cheese working well together. We will give it a total score of 8.
The frozen meals we analyzed in this article showed that the picture on the box can often be deceiving. While some meals exceeded our expectations, others fell short. It's important to keep in mind that while the picture may look great, the actual meal may not be as appetizing. Gourmet Salt is Crazy Expensive, Unless You Can Make it Yourself... (massive flakes)
In this video, Alex has a plan to disrupt the entire salt industry by making expensive and precious chef salt crystals out of basic salt. He visited salt marshes in Western France to understand how salt is made, and discovered two very different types of salt - sea salt and flaky salt.
Sea salt is harvested from the bottom of the salt pools and is used for seasoning, while flaky salt only forms on the surface under specific conditions and is expensive. Alex wants to make his own version of flaky salt using coarse salt cubes he brought back from the salt marshes.
1. Dissolving the salt in water: Alex uses 165 grams of salt and 500 milliliters of water to make a salt solution. He stirs the mixture until it fully dissolves, but a few grains of salt still remain at the bottom.
2. Heating up the mixture: Alex heats up the glass container with the salt solution inside to a gentle heat of 70 degrees Celsius (160 Fahrenheit). This mimics what nature does, as the water evaporates but the salt doesn't, increasing the concentration of salt in the liquid.
3. Crystal formation: As the water evaporates, the excess salt is spit out, and crystals start to form on any particle. Alex heats up the mixture until the liquid is fully saturated with salt, and the crystals start to form.
4. Harvesting the crystals: Alex uses a specific tool called a lousse to harvest the crystals from the surface of the water. He gets a good yield of medium-sized crystals and also selects the biggest flakes to create his masterpiece salt crystals.
Alex successfully disrupts the salt industry by making his own version of flaky salt from basic salt cubes. He uses a simple process of dissolving the salt in water and heating it up to mimic nature's process of crystal formation.
