In this video, Nikolai reflects on the reasons why his secondhand shop failed despite his efforts to keep it running. He shares some of the problems he encountered, such as inconsistent posting and supply issues.

Reasons for Failure:

1. Price Issues: The supplier was charging high prices for clothes, which made it difficult for Nikolai to sell them at a profit.

2. Inconsistent Posting: Nikolai was not consistent with posting new items, which made it hard for customers to find his shop.

3. Search Rankings: Items would quickly drop in search rankings, making them harder to find over time.

4. Marketing Efforts: Despite efforts to advertise on social media platforms like Instagram and work with influencers, sales remained low.

5. Photography and Branding: The photography and branding of the shop may have contributed to a lack of interest from customers.

Lessons Learned:

1. Consistency is key when it comes to posting new items.

2. Pricing is important to consider when working with suppliers.

3. Marketing efforts may not always result in significant sales.

4. The photography and branding of the shop can affect customer interest.

Despite the challenges he faced, Nikolai is considering restarting his shop and applying what he learned from his failures. He hopes that others can learn from his experiences and avoid some of the same pitfalls.

Hey guys, it's drop day and I'm super excited to announce the launch of my vintage website! I just hit 10k followers on Instagram and to celebrate, I'm dropping my website in a few days. In this video, I'm going to show you how I prepared for the launch and give you a sneak peek of what's on the site.

- I took pictures of about 30 more items to add to the site and used a background removal app to edit them.

- I uploaded all the items and tested the site with my roommate to make sure everything worked.

- The site has 93 items and is super colorful and easy to use with PayPal, credit cards, and Apple Pay accepted.

- Shipping is free in the US and I'm offering international shipping for an extra cost.

- I'm hoping to sell at least half of the items by the end of the day and have already received four orders within the first minute of the site going live.

Thank you so much for supporting me on my journey as a reseller and vintage seller. I appreciate each and every one of you. Let's go!

Starting an Online Thrift Store | Setup a Shopify Store and Package with me

Hey guys, welcome back to my channel. Today, I'll be setting up my Shopify store and preparing my clothes for sale. I'll also be sharing some tips on how to maximize your space using vacuum-sealed bags.

Setting up my Shopify Store:

- Behind me are all the clothes I've taken pictures of for my store called The Rift.

- I'll be rearranging my store and posting the clothes for sale today.

- The website will be in the description, but it's not open yet as I'm still working on it.

- I'll be putting the clothes in vacuum-sealed bags to save space in my RV.

- I got a space saver bag with a vacuum pump to remove the air, making the clothes as small as possible.

Preparing the Clothes for Sale:

- These are the clothes that will be in my shop.

- I'll use the space saver bags to make them smaller.

- It's getting harder to do this, but I'll keep going.

- Using the pump to remove the air is working well.

Setting up my Website:

- I realized I wasn't filming most of my setup, so I'll show you how my website looks now.

- I'm still figuring out the colors and collections, but I posted three so far.

- I need to watch videos to understand Shopify better.

- I'll change the black jacket to stand out more.

- I'm a perfectionist, so I might retake pictures and redo everything.

- Starting a new business is challenging, but I'm not stressed.

Packaging the Sold Clothes:

- I sold a leather jacket and will package it today.

- I'll use a compostable mailer and bounce touch-up spray to remove wrinkles.

- I'll fold and package it, then print the label.

Thank you for watching my video. Visit my website and subscribe to the email for when it launches. I'll let you know when there's a release date. See you in my next video!

Mistake #1: Using generic or stock photography

- Photography is crucial to your brand online, and using real models and multiple angles and detail shots is key.

Mistake #2: Not capturing email addresses and using email marketing

- Capturing email addresses from the start is essential for driving sales.

- You need to think about the frequency and types of emails you'll send to keep customers engaged.

Mistake #3: Not spending time writing good product descriptions

- Product descriptions need to be scannable, show benefits, and include technical aspects of the garment.

- They also help with how search engines like Google read your products.
