The current air transportation system is being replaced by the Next Generation Air Transportation System. But why is it being replaced, when will the replacements happen, and what changes will take place? This presentation aims to answer those questions and more.


The Next Generation Air Transportation System is a system of subsystems, including support systems and operational systems. This presentation will focus on the operational systems and how they are changing. Modernized aircraft systems, ground infrastructure, and satellite infrastructure will enable more efficient and predictable operations in the future.

Operational Systems:

1. Air Traffic Surveillance:

- Current system: radar technology with limitations

- New system: Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B)

- Benefits: more accurate, automatic broadcasts, can be picked up by all compatible receivers in range

2. Air Traffic Management:

- Current system: tactical airspace management, high cognitive workload

- New system: collaborative air traffic management, automation tools for better decision making, shift from tactical to strategic management

3. Communications:

- Current system: voice communications, lengthy and prone to errors

The Next Generation Air Transportation System will be implemented through equipage mandates in some regions and voluntary equipage in others. Incentives for voluntary equipage include improved services and access to airports and airspace. The Global Performance Improvement Roadmap will coordinate the upgrade process, divided into five-year blocks.

He also emphasized the importance of planning for upgrades, as downtime can be up to 21 days, and scheduling will become more difficult as the deadline approaches. The presentation covered upgrades for Honeywell and Collins equipped aircraft, as well as options for standalone SMS 6.1 upgrades and service bulletin compliance. Sanders advised aircraft owners to consider their travel patterns and equipment needs when deciding on upgrades, and to discuss options with their sales representative.

Hey guys, it's me again! This weekend I had an amazing time at West Point and got to watch Artie play Robert Morris. Here's a recap of my weekend adventure.

1. Going to West Point:

- Excited to visit one of my favorite places in the world.

- Looking forward to a great weekend.

2. Watching Artie play Robert Morris:

- Realized Artie was playing, so decided to watch the game.

- After the game, headed back to West Point.

5. Watching the game:

- Army tied 2-2, but it was still a good game.

- Saw some amazing plays and players.

- Pilot did a great job.

Overall, it was an amazing weekend at West Point and watching Artie play Robert Morris. The private jet ride was the cherry on top. I'm grateful for the experience and can't wait to do it again.
