00:01:28 00:01:31 on one specific method and it literally
00:01:30 00:01:32 made me
00:01:31 00:01:34 millions and millions of dollars in
00:01:32 00:01:36 sales before i even turned
00:01:34 00:01:37 19 years old so it was really cool to
00:01:36 00:01:39 see that and obviously i'm going to
00:01:37 00:01:39 explain all the profit margin behind
00:01:39 00:01:41 that
00:01:39 00:01:43 i'm gonna explain what went down and
00:01:41 00:01:44 again how i actually did these three
00:01:43 00:01:45 things

00:02:33 00:02:36 the three things this is what i focused
00:02:35 00:02:38 on and i didn't try to like be the best
00:02:36 00:02:40 right one of the things that i always
00:02:38 00:02:42 focus on is it's obviously great to
00:02:40 00:02:43 reach to be the best i'm always trying
00:02:42 00:02:44 to learn i'm always trying to focus on
00:02:43 00:02:46 this more
00:02:44 00:02:48 i constantly buy courses i try to learn
00:02:46 00:02:48 from both my friends as well as people i
00:02:48 00:02:51 don't know
00:02:48 00:02:52 but one of the things that i did i just
00:02:51 00:02:54 tried to pick a couple of specific
00:02:52 00:02:54 things which is the three we're going to
00:02:54 00:02:56 tok about
00:02:54 00:02:58 and i tried to do it a little bit better
00:02:56 00:03:00 than 95
00:02:58 00:03:02 of people and that was all it took and
00:03:00 00:03:04 it wasn't really a huge amount of effort
00:03:02 00:03:06 you know i'm someone where i have super
00:03:04 00:03:09 super bad ocd in certain ways
00:03:06 00:03:10 i also have some very bad adhd i get
00:03:09 00:03:12 distracted quick
00:03:10 00:03:14 it's really hard for me to be super
00:03:12 00:03:15 productive so for me i mean if i'm able
00:03:14 00:03:17 to do this
00:03:15 00:03:18 anybody should be able to just sit down
00:03:17 00:03:19 focus and get it done because i'm all
00:03:18 00:03:21 over the place
00:03:19 00:03:22 so i tried to just narrow my focus on
00:03:21 00:03:23 these couple of things and ta-da it
00:03:22 00:03:25 worked you know
00:03:23 00:03:27 so number one is your product this is
00:03:25 00:03:29 the first thing i focused on
00:03:27 00:03:30 now from uh trying to do this better
00:03:29 00:03:32 perspective i just tried to do this
00:03:30 00:03:34 different from anyone else so first of
00:03:32 00:03:36 all here's my first product that i ever
00:03:34 00:03:38 started making some money with there was
00:03:36 00:03:40 four products before that um that didn't
00:03:38 00:03:41 work okay and i want to explain exactly
00:03:40 00:03:44 some of the mistakes that i made in here
00:03:41 00:03:45 those previous four products before this
00:03:44 00:03:48 product that started working
00:03:45 00:03:49 i took i think two of those from people
00:03:48 00:03:51 that i knew who were doing e-commerce i
00:03:49 00:03:52 knew they were selling that product i
00:03:51 00:03:52 straight up took it i was like you know
00:03:52 00:03:54 why
00:03:52 00:03:55 why wouldn't i sell it right it's making
00:03:54 00:03:56 someone else hundreds of thousands of
00:03:55 00:03:58 dollars a month
00:03:56 00:04:00 and so i thought that just because
00:03:58 00:04:02 someone else was making money with it
00:04:00 00:04:03 means hey i can make money with it too
00:04:02 00:04:05 and that's actually not the case
00:04:03 00:04:07 especially from a paid marketing
00:04:05 00:04:08 perspective through facebook
00:04:07 00:04:10 every ad account is different
00:04:08 00:04:11 everything's going to react different so
00:04:10 00:04:13 i learned pretty quick
00:04:11 00:04:15 don't steal someone else's product you
00:04:13 00:04:16 can use it for ideas inspiration
00:04:15 00:04:18 obviously pretty much anything you sell
00:04:16 00:04:19 unless you invent a product is being
00:04:18 00:04:21 sold by someone else
00:04:19 00:04:22 but just because you take a product idea
00:04:21 00:04:24 from someone
00:04:22 00:04:26 doesn't mean it'll work so the way that
00:04:24 00:04:28 it actually bit me in the butt is i
00:04:26 00:04:29 spent 100 of my budget trying to make it
00:04:28 00:04:31 work
00:04:29 00:04:32 when looking back it was very obviously
00:04:31 00:04:33 not gonna work and i should have seen
00:04:32 00:04:35 that really quick
00:04:33 00:04:36 now just to explain how i pick products
00:04:35 00:04:38 there's two things i look for either
00:04:36 00:04:41 the wow factor something that is so
00:04:38 00:04:42 unique so cool and makes me stop dead in
00:04:41 00:04:43 my tracks when i'm doing some product
00:04:42 00:04:45 research
00:04:43 00:04:47 something i think i can market really
00:04:45 00:04:49 cool or the more boring approach which
00:04:47 00:04:51 is in my opinion long term
00:04:49 00:04:53 and that is the problem solving product
00:04:51 00:04:53 i have two main e-commerce brands that i
00:04:53 00:04:55 run
00:04:53 00:04:57 one of them i would really consider a
00:04:55 00:04:59 brand brand and that is not a
00:04:57 00:05:01 exciting product by any means it is very
00:04:59 00:05:03 boring it is super simple
00:05:01 00:05:05 and it's something that's very much so
00:05:03 00:05:06 you'd only buy it if you need it right
00:05:05 00:05:08 and so people aren't really going to
00:05:06 00:05:11 impulse by that but that helps us have
00:05:08 00:05:13 very long-term consistent customers
00:05:11 00:05:14 people who buy multiple times from us
00:05:13 00:05:16 with different products that's how i
00:05:14 00:05:17 built that brand that was off a product
00:05:16 00:05:19 that solved a
00:05:17 00:05:21 problem so as soon as i got the product
00:05:19 00:05:22 out of the way and knew what i wanted to
00:05:21 00:05:25 sell and why
00:05:22 00:05:28 i put 100 of my attention on
00:05:25 00:05:28 the marketing now my approach with
00:05:28 00:05:30 marketing
00:05:28 00:05:32 was a little different than some other
00:05:30 00:05:34 people's initially i was trying to
00:05:32 00:05:36 utilize instagram influencers because i
00:05:34 00:05:38 used to have instagram influencer pages
00:05:36 00:05:40 so i tapped into my friend in the space
00:05:38 00:05:42 who had a bunch of other accounts
00:05:40 00:05:43 and was very active in a bunch of broad
00:05:42 00:05:45 niches and i was able to use that to
00:05:43 00:05:47 start bringing in some sales
00:05:45 00:05:50 so i just adapted it to my situation but
00:05:47 00:05:51 i very quickly put 100 of my focus on
00:05:50 00:05:52 facebook ads
00:05:51 00:05:54 there's a lot of people who i see right
00:05:52 00:05:55 now trying to do tiktok and snapchat
00:05:54 00:05:57 and they're learning google and they're
00:05:55 00:05:58 learning facebook but they didn't do two
00:05:57 00:06:00 of these by following a course they're
00:05:58 00:06:01 just like trying it
00:06:00 00:06:03 and it's all over the place my
00:06:01 00:06:06 recommendation to you you should never
00:06:03 00:06:08 jump marketing platforms until one is
00:06:06 00:06:09 working right unless it's clearly never
00:06:08 00:06:10 gonna work for you or you just don't
00:06:09 00:06:12 like it
00:06:10 00:06:13 make one thing work first then you can
00:06:12 00:06:15 branch out
00:06:13 00:06:16 so i put 100 of my attention on facebook
00:06:15 00:06:18 and it took about
00:06:16 00:06:20 seven eight months to really start
00:06:18 00:06:21 getting some results coming in
00:06:20 00:06:22 and it was off that product that i just
00:06:21 00:06:23 showed you this one right here that i'll
00:06:22 00:06:25 throw up
00:06:23 00:06:26 and that phone case started doing ten
00:06:25 00:06:27 thousand a month in revenue twenty
00:06:26 00:06:30 thousand forty thousand
00:06:27 00:06:32 seventy thousand soon i was you know at
00:06:30 00:06:33 a multi six figure a year income in
00:06:32 00:06:34 profit
00:06:33 00:06:37 and it was really cool and one thing i
00:06:34 00:06:39 want to mention real fast on profits
00:06:37 00:06:40 you see the title of this video you know
00:06:39 00:06:41 drop shipping made me millions of
00:06:40 00:06:44 dollars
00:06:41 00:06:45 if you want to make a million dollars
00:06:44 00:06:47 from e-commerce
00:06:45 00:06:48 here's what you have to focus on you
00:06:47 00:06:50 can't look at the number one million
00:06:48 00:06:52 you should be looking at the number four
00:06:50 00:06:54 million because on
00:06:52 00:06:55 average in the industry your profit
00:06:54 00:06:57 margin
00:06:55 00:06:58 is going to be in my opinion with drop
00:06:57 00:07:01 shipping 20
00:06:58 00:07:04 to 45 percent i usually fall around the
00:07:01 00:07:06 25 to 30 percent in that range
00:07:04 00:07:07 sometimes i'm on the slightly lower end
00:07:06 00:07:08 of that and i'm going to explain that
00:07:07 00:07:09 here in the moment
00:07:08 00:07:11 and how that's actually an advantage but
00:07:09 00:07:13 i just focused on getting
00:07:11 00:07:14 really really good at one thing and for
00:07:13 00:07:16 me that was facebook ads i didn't focus
00:07:14 00:07:17 on building a fancy websites
00:07:16 00:07:18 because i knew that if i was really good
00:07:17 00:07:20 at the marketing it wouldn't really
00:07:18 00:07:22 matter if the website was basic right
00:07:20 00:07:24 obviously that plays a small role and i
00:07:22 00:07:25 optimized it later but it was just the
00:07:24 00:07:27 marketing that i learned and that's my
00:07:25 00:07:28 jam i can do millions of dollars in a
00:07:27 00:07:30 month
00:07:28 00:07:32 with e-commerce products between 30 to
00:07:30 00:07:33 150
00:07:32 00:07:35 that range like that is my bread and
00:07:33 00:07:36 butter for physical e-commerce products
00:07:35 00:07:39 i've done that
00:07:36 00:07:41 so so much i have put in my 10 000 hours
00:07:39 00:07:42 and then some so here's what i mean
00:07:41 00:07:44 about the margin though because i know
00:07:42 00:07:45 this is a really important point
00:07:44 00:07:46 if you're looking at that four million
00:07:45 00:07:48 dollar target which should be your first
00:07:46 00:07:49 target in e-commerce that you can
00:07:48 00:07:50 actually make a million
00:07:49 00:07:52 yes that's before tax but you can
00:07:50 00:07:55 actually keep that you know like that's
00:07:52 00:07:56 profit well what i focused on was having
00:07:55 00:07:59 a lower margin
00:07:56 00:08:01 on purpose than other people in the
00:07:59 00:08:02 industry because i realized really early
00:08:01 00:08:05 on and i'm very grateful for it
00:08:02 00:08:06 that most people in this industry have
00:08:05 00:08:08 to make money
00:08:06 00:08:10 up front that's their entire business
00:08:08 00:08:11 model they're focused on cutting corners
00:08:10 00:08:12 which is where drop shipping gets the
00:08:11 00:08:14 bad rep they're trying to have
00:08:12 00:08:16 the cheapest product price so they
00:08:14 00:08:17 sacrifice quality
00:08:16 00:08:18 they're trying to have the cheapest
00:08:17 00:08:19 delivery method so they sacrifice
00:08:18 00:08:21 shipping times
00:08:19 00:08:23 they do all these things and this was
00:08:21 00:08:25 years and years ago where it wouldn't
00:08:23 00:08:25 have affected your facebook ad account
00:08:25 00:08:27 it wouldn't
00:08:25 00:08:29 really affect your merchant processor as
00:08:27 00:08:31 bad it was still so new
00:08:29 00:08:33 nowadays you can't get away with that
00:08:31 00:08:35 very easily or for very long
00:08:33 00:08:38 but back then i started focusing on the
00:08:35 00:08:40 customer i started focusing in on my ltv
00:08:38 00:08:41 so i realized as long as i'm breaking
00:08:40 00:08:42 even or above on the front end i'm
00:08:41 00:08:44 getting
00:08:42 00:08:46 thousands of customers like it depends
00:08:44 00:08:47 on how scaled up the store is now some
00:08:46 00:08:49 of these brands are doing 3 000 new
00:08:47 00:08:50 customers a day
00:08:49 00:08:52 even if i was breaking even i'd be
00:08:50 00:08:54 totally okay with that
00:08:52 00:08:55 because the amount of customers there
00:08:54 00:08:57 and bringing people through our email
00:08:55 00:08:58 sequence and it's insane
00:08:57 00:09:00 plus you have all that data on your
00:08:58 00:09:02 facebook ad account and
00:09:00 00:09:03 if you're using credit cards properly
00:09:02 00:09:04 you're getting ridiculous amounts of
00:09:03 00:09:06 reward points
00:09:04 00:09:08 but that's aside the fact when it comes
00:09:06 00:09:09 to the profit margin i just wanted to
00:09:08 00:09:10 touch on that now number three
00:09:09 00:09:13 which is something i focused on that
00:09:10 00:09:15 builds off of that is the experience
00:09:13 00:09:16 and that experience is not my experience
00:09:15 00:09:18 right oh i'm making money
00:09:16 00:09:20 the experience for the customer okay a
00:09:18 00:09:22 lot of people really would just
00:09:20 00:09:24 have their order confirmation email and
00:09:22 00:09:26 that's it and this goes back to needing
00:09:24 00:09:27 to make money on the front end
00:09:26 00:09:29 they would have no email follow-up they
00:09:27 00:09:31 wouldn't focus on custom packaging
00:09:29 00:09:33 they wouldn't have good support they
00:09:31 00:09:35 wouldn't even have support why
00:09:33 00:09:36 because that's an extra expense i
00:09:35 00:09:37 brought on those other expenses you know
00:09:36 00:09:38 i didn't have a lot of money when i
00:09:37 00:09:39 started
00:09:38 00:09:41 but when i started making money i
00:09:39 00:09:43 reinvested that back into the business
00:09:41 00:09:45 first so when you guys saw me finally
00:09:43 00:09:45 starting to do a little bit of stuff
00:09:45 00:09:47 like
00:09:45 00:09:48 um first of all starting this youtube
00:09:47 00:09:50 channel because i had to buy a camera
00:09:48 00:09:52 when you guys saw me buy my first car
00:09:50 00:09:54 that was a year
00:09:52 00:09:56 or so nine months to a year after i was
00:09:54 00:09:57 like consistently making money putting
00:09:56 00:09:59 it back in the business
00:09:57 00:10:01 and i didn't ever want to pull out a
00:09:59 00:10:02 penny and so even when i bought my first
00:10:01 00:10:04 car i financed it
00:10:02 00:10:06 with as little down as i could because i
00:10:04 00:10:07 didn't want to be out of pocket
00:10:06 00:10:09 because all that money was staying in my
00:10:07 00:10:11 business right but i had cash flow so
00:10:09 00:10:12 the point here with these three things
00:10:11 00:10:14 is if you can focus on these now it's
00:10:12 00:10:16 going to help you out more than ever
00:10:14 00:10:18 because if you don't do this properly
00:10:16 00:10:20 especially with the customer experience
00:10:18 00:10:21 you will eventually lose your facebook
00:10:20 00:10:22 ad account which has been a huge topic
00:10:21 00:10:24 for a lot of people lately
00:10:22 00:10:26 you will lose your payment processor you
00:10:24 00:10:28 will lose trust with your customers
00:10:26 00:10:30 because someone else can and will
00:10:28 00:10:32 and probably is already doing it better
00:10:30 00:10:33 than you are so you really have to dial
00:10:32 00:10:36 it in and put attention on this
00:10:33 00:10:37 otherwise things will not go well for
00:10:36 00:10:38 very long
00:10:37 00:10:40 yes you can run something up real quick
00:10:38 00:10:42 i see it all the time i know people who
00:10:40 00:10:43 run up stores don't fulfill
00:10:42 00:10:45 it works for like a month and then
00:10:43 00:10:48 everything crashes and it makes no sense
00:10:45 00:10:49 because the amount of effort you put in
00:10:48 00:10:51 just to make that and then you have to
00:10:49 00:10:53 restart every time it just
00:10:51 00:10:54 doesn't make sense you could have made
00:10:53 00:10:56 way more and had something real
00:10:54 00:10:57 just by being consistent and doing
00:10:56 00:10:59 things the right way so that's why i
00:10:57 00:11:00 always put focus on that
00:10:59 00:11:02 and especially operating in the drop
00:11:00 00:11:03 shipping space which now again like i
00:11:02 00:11:06 mentioned i have moved
00:11:03 00:11:08 out of just for two reasons our margin
00:11:06 00:11:10 as well as the customer experience and
00:11:08 00:11:12 especially right now
00:11:10 00:11:14 by having a lot more things let's say
00:11:12 00:11:16 like the feedback score on facebook
00:11:14 00:11:17 merchant processors especially in 2020
00:11:16 00:11:19 with all the pandemic stuff
00:11:17 00:11:20 tightening down the restrictions and
00:11:19 00:11:23 almost just looking for a reason
00:11:20 00:11:24 to shut someone's merchant down you have
00:11:23 00:11:25 to have good shipping times you need to
00:11:24 00:11:27 have good support
00:11:25 00:11:29 so that's why i just graduated out of
00:11:27 00:11:30 drop shipping yes it's a huge
00:11:29 00:11:33 out-of-pocket expense
00:11:30 00:11:34 but there's also tax benefits associated
00:11:33 00:11:36 with that so that's why it made a lot of
00:11:34 00:11:37 sense for me to just shift most of my
00:11:36 00:11:38 stuff out of that
00:11:37 00:11:40 not that one or the other is
00:11:38 00:11:41 partikularly better or worse so if
00:11:40 00:11:43 you've ever been looking at the drop
00:11:41 00:11:44 shipping model and you've wanted to get
00:11:43 00:11:45 started i mean it truly is the perfect
00:11:44 00:11:47 time
00:11:45 00:11:48 online sales have been increasing month
00:11:47 00:11:50 over month straight for probably the
00:11:48 00:11:51 last three years especially and no
00:11:50 00:11:53 exception
00:11:51 00:11:54 with this year after all the retailers
00:11:53 00:11:56 have gone on a business
00:11:54 00:11:58 many shut down and so many restrictions
00:11:56 00:12:00 in place online sales are through the
00:11:58 00:12:00 roof so that's why it's great to have a
00:12:00 00:12:02 business
00:12:00 00:12:04 that is keeping up with the times not
00:12:02 00:12:05 falling behind you know like something
00:12:04 00:12:06 brick and mortar so there's always going
00:12:05 00:12:08 to be a need for that but the online
00:12:06 00:12:10 space has no doubtedly been exploding
00:12:08 00:12:12 and if you guys want help building a
