00:00:45 00:00:47 little bit because you've been in our

00:00:50 00:00:53 four years now or something like that i
00:00:52 00:00:54 mean when we first like empire builders
00:00:53 00:00:56 really started and
00:00:54 00:00:58 i know allie really worked with you
00:00:56 00:00:59 really closely um so but kind of take us
00:00:58 00:01:01 back to
00:00:59 00:01:03 to that point before like finisher

00:01:03 00:01:06 like what were you trying like kind of
00:01:04 00:01:07 how did you even get started in this in
00:01:06 00:01:10 this whole space
00:01:07 00:01:14 sure uh yeah it's been like two years
00:01:10 00:01:15 and maybe more since i joined e-commerce
00:01:14 00:01:18 empire builders
00:01:15 00:01:20 and i remember i remember that i joined
00:01:18 00:01:23 because i was
00:01:20 00:01:25 i had this brand on amazon i tried to
00:01:23 00:01:28 amazon fba
00:01:25 00:01:28 like many people i was failing you know
00:01:28 00:01:30 like
00:01:28 00:01:31 so many people trying to compete on
00:01:30 00:01:34 price and
00:01:31 00:01:35 i signed to reading books and found
00:01:34 00:01:39 about
00:01:35 00:01:41 funnels and when i understood the
00:01:39 00:01:42 concept of funnels i said okay wait a
00:01:41 00:01:44 minute
00:01:42 00:01:46 i need to do this on commerce and decide
00:01:44 00:01:48 to do it
00:01:46 00:01:49 i started click funnels i decided to do
00:01:48 00:01:52 it by myself
00:01:49 00:01:53 but then i found you i found uh that i
00:01:52 00:01:54 think it's a case study that you have
00:01:53 00:01:57 and how
00:01:54 00:01:58 you use influencer marketing and funnels
00:01:57 00:02:01 to drive some sales and i
00:01:58 00:02:02 said i need to tok to this man and i
00:02:01 00:02:05 need
00:02:02 00:02:07 to know how to do it so i joined uh the
00:02:05 00:02:10 commerce empire builders
00:02:07 00:02:10 and yeah basically i started to do
00:02:10 00:02:14 shipping
00:02:10 00:02:17 i um validated my
00:02:14 00:02:17 product and then i decided to go all in
00:02:17 00:02:19 and
00:02:17 00:02:21 and created my own brand create my own
00:02:19 00:02:24 product my own product
00:02:21 00:02:25 and uh soldier from china so so here's
00:02:24 00:02:27 the thing because i know i was toking
00:02:25 00:02:28 to ali literally the other day and
00:02:27 00:02:30 i think i've even told you this before
00:02:28 00:02:32 like cause you see javier actually spoke
00:02:30 00:02:36 at our first live event this was
00:02:32 00:02:38 last year last february uh in 2020 um
00:02:36 00:02:40 and uh you know me i think i even told
00:02:38 00:02:41 you in person and i
00:02:40 00:02:42 mean ali were toking about this it's
00:02:41 00:02:44 like you literally have done like
00:02:42 00:02:45 everything exactly like hey if ali told
00:02:44 00:02:47 you something or i told you that like
00:02:45 00:02:48 you did it like cause
00:02:47 00:02:50 you know let's take a step back here
00:02:48 00:02:52 because you know if you guys go check
00:02:50 00:02:54 out finisher secrets you'll see he has
00:02:52 00:02:55 you know his own branded products right
00:02:54 00:02:57 but you know it didn't start out that
00:02:55 00:02:58 way right you kind of started with the
00:02:57 00:03:00 drop shipping model you were
00:02:58 00:03:01 you know kind of walk us through there
00:03:00 00:03:02 because i know you were you were mainly
00:03:01 00:03:03 for if i remember correctly because it's
00:03:02 00:03:04 been a while
00:03:03 00:03:07 you were drop shipping it from from
00:03:04 00:03:08 amazon correct yes um so kind of like
00:03:07 00:03:09 before you even
00:03:08 00:03:11 pick the supplier kind of like how did
00:03:09 00:03:12 you decide what niche you were gonna go
00:03:11 00:03:13 into
00:03:12 00:03:14 kind of like how did you decide oh it's
00:03:13 00:03:16 gonna we're gonna make these custom
00:03:14 00:03:17 planners like just walk us through that
00:03:16 00:03:19 early stages of like
00:03:17 00:03:20 you know what made you go that route
00:03:19 00:03:23 okay so uh
00:03:20 00:03:24 yeah well finding the niche was i think
00:03:23 00:03:27 the
00:03:24 00:03:29 hardest thing to do um i remember
00:03:27 00:03:32 toking to ali
00:03:29 00:03:34 and i proposed to him to go
00:03:32 00:03:35 different ways like two different niches
00:03:34 00:03:38 i thought
00:03:35 00:03:42 it was a really good bench but um ali
00:03:38 00:03:43 uh i remember you saying hey
00:03:42 00:03:46 it needs to be something that you really
00:03:43 00:03:48 like and you need to solve a problem um
00:03:46 00:03:50 at that time my biggest problem was
00:03:48 00:03:53 procrastination
00:03:50 00:03:56 uh productivity uh i recently
00:03:53 00:03:59 moved to the usa uh i was starting this
00:03:56 00:04:02 new company news disney europe and
00:03:59 00:04:02 i didn't have time i have a little
00:04:02 00:04:06 dollar
00:04:02 00:04:07 and obviously that was driving me crazy
00:04:06 00:04:10 trying to build a business
00:04:07 00:04:11 a job and running a family so at the
00:04:10 00:04:13 time
00:04:11 00:04:15 i said okay i need to solve my
00:04:13 00:04:19 procrastination issue i need to solve my
00:04:15 00:04:22 productivity issue so i
00:04:19 00:04:26 found this product and i honestly
00:04:22 00:04:28 think that it's a really good product a
00:04:26 00:04:30 journal or a planner that helps you to
00:04:28 00:04:33 basically focus on
00:04:30 00:04:35 on a goal and work on it until basically
00:04:33 00:04:38 achieve your goal
00:04:35 00:04:40 so um i remember
00:04:38 00:04:41 looking for the perfect planner didn't
00:04:40 00:04:45 find it
00:04:41 00:04:48 i wanted to create my own by uh
00:04:45 00:04:50 immediately but um i remember asking you
00:04:48 00:04:51 hey i need i i want to create my own
00:04:50 00:04:54 product but
00:04:51 00:04:56 you insisted on validating the idea i
00:04:54 00:05:00 think that was like uh
00:04:56 00:05:03 a key i needed to know if i was able to
00:05:00 00:05:05 sell that product and then go
00:05:03 00:05:07 and create my own product so that's
00:05:05 00:05:08 basically what i did so when you were
00:05:07 00:05:09 doing that because a lot of people
00:05:08 00:05:10 you know i say that to a lot of people
00:05:09 00:05:12 but you know a lot of people want to
00:05:10 00:05:14 just go right into the the brand which
00:05:12 00:05:16 is fine if you have the money to
00:05:14 00:05:18 do that but like because i'm sure you
00:05:16 00:05:19 had ideas right for
00:05:18 00:05:22 the ideal planner that you've created
00:05:19 00:05:24 today now when you were testing it out
00:05:22 00:05:25 right did you just kind of did were you
00:05:24 00:05:27 just going for more generic kind of
00:05:25 00:05:28 products or like how how were you
00:05:27 00:05:30 picking them
00:05:28 00:05:32 and drop shipping those from amazon
00:05:30 00:05:35 before you branded i said to myself okay
00:05:32 00:05:36 uh if i created my own how that would
00:05:35 00:05:38 look like
00:05:36 00:05:39 right i started to look i decided to
00:05:38 00:05:42 look on
00:05:39 00:05:43 amazon didn't find any well i basically
00:05:42 00:05:46 choose
00:05:43 00:05:49 whatever was closer to my
00:05:46 00:05:53 ideal product so that's how i
00:05:49 00:05:54 i found it obviously with good margins
00:05:53 00:05:58 and
00:05:54 00:06:00 uh well amazon gives you uh
00:05:58 00:06:01 fast chipping which is i think it's
00:06:00 00:06:05 really important
00:06:01 00:06:06 um yeah now as far as
00:06:05 00:06:08 what did you what was your test bed to
00:06:06 00:06:10 actually be like hey you know what this
00:06:08 00:06:11 is validated now i'm going to start the
00:06:10 00:06:14 process to brand it well
00:06:11 00:06:15 when i decided to do it to do 10k a
00:06:14 00:06:18 month
00:06:15 00:06:21 i was having consistent
00:06:18 00:06:24 sales and i was comfortable enough to go
00:06:21 00:06:25 and get that money i was getting it that
00:06:24 00:06:29 income
00:06:25 00:06:32 and go to alibaba or somewhere to
00:06:29 00:06:33 solve my own product so so you basically
00:06:32 00:06:33 were waiting until you were doing like
00:06:33 00:06:35 10
00:06:33 00:06:37 10 roughly 10k a month just pure drop
00:06:35 00:06:39 ship and then you were
00:06:37 00:06:40 kind of going into the brand so kind of
00:06:39 00:06:42 walk us through that like how did you
00:06:40 00:06:44 you know vet the suppliers how did you
00:06:42 00:06:44 know what stuff you were going to change
00:06:44 00:06:46 and like
00:06:44 00:06:48 even like you know like some of the
00:06:46 00:06:49 branding that you have because i love
00:06:48 00:06:50 the brand i actually have the noob i'm
00:06:49 00:06:51 gonna get it while you answer this
00:06:50 00:06:54 question but kind of like
00:06:51 00:06:54 what were your kind of like you know
00:06:54 00:06:56 like
00:06:54 00:06:58 like how were you picking out the
00:06:56 00:07:00 supplier let's let's start there
00:06:58 00:07:01 right that was gonna do this for you
00:07:00 00:07:04 yeah well
00:07:01 00:07:07 um alibaba has like um
00:07:04 00:07:08 uh this filter that allows you to look
00:07:07 00:07:11 for
00:07:08 00:07:14 uh filter out suppliers that are like
00:07:11 00:07:15 uh pass suppliers well basically you can
00:07:14 00:07:18 choose
00:07:15 00:07:19 or you can filter out supplies that have
00:07:18 00:07:22 more
00:07:19 00:07:22 reputation or they are verified or they
00:07:22 00:07:26 have
00:07:22 00:07:29 good previews so basically that's how
00:07:26 00:07:30 i i picked i toked to different
00:07:29 00:07:33 suppliers i
00:07:30 00:07:36 asked for quotes i remember like i sent
00:07:33 00:07:40 the set the same uh
00:07:36 00:07:43 request i think it's how you call it uh
00:07:40 00:07:46 to at least 20 and
00:07:43 00:07:48 from those 20 like seven
00:07:46 00:07:50 replied and from those seven i was
00:07:48 00:07:53 starting to negotiate
00:07:50 00:07:57 until i got the uh the best quote
00:07:53 00:08:00 but not on after getting the quote
00:07:57 00:08:03 i asked for samples
00:08:00 00:08:04 i asked for samples and once i had the
00:08:03 00:08:07 samples on my hand
00:08:04 00:08:08 i i decided for the one that i really
00:08:07 00:08:10 liked
00:08:08 00:08:12 yeah and just know like because i'm sure
00:08:10 00:08:13 the samples were pretty expensive
00:08:12 00:08:15 usually whenever you do the the samples
00:08:13 00:08:17 guys just so like anybody that's in that
00:08:15 00:08:18 stage like it's usually pretty expensive
00:08:17 00:08:19 to get a handful of samples i usually
00:08:18 00:08:20 recommend getting as
00:08:19 00:08:22 a few because you just want to make sure
00:08:20 00:08:24 that they're not just like putting great
00:08:22 00:08:27 effort into one product
00:08:24 00:08:29 um so when you reached out to them right
00:08:27 00:08:29 usually what i recommend is like ask
00:08:29 00:08:32 them
00:08:29 00:08:33 quantity like how much for 500 did you
00:08:32 00:08:34 do that or did you like
00:08:33 00:08:36 what were you comfortable like what was
00:08:34 00:08:38 your initial order quantity that you
00:08:36 00:08:41 were actually going to go for
00:08:38 00:08:44 i did for 500 um
00:08:41 00:08:47 500 yeah and yeah i asked the same thing
00:08:44 00:08:48 hey yeah how much is gonna be if per
00:08:47 00:08:51 unit
00:08:48 00:08:53 uh if i order 500 or a thousand or two
00:08:51 00:08:56 thousand three thousand
00:08:53 00:08:58 and the funny thing is i use the same
00:08:56 00:08:59 uh initial quote because many of those
00:08:58 00:09:02 uh suppliers
00:08:59 00:09:06 change the the quote over time i used
00:09:02 00:09:07 that initial quote to now negotiate hey
00:09:06 00:09:10 you told me
00:09:07 00:09:12 that when i will order five thousand
00:09:10 00:09:14 this is gonna be like the price and
00:09:12 00:09:16 yeah that's that's that's awesome so are
00:09:14 00:09:19 you still working with the same supplier
00:09:16 00:09:21 yes yeah and i'm assuming no guys like
00:09:19 00:09:22 get them on skype whatsapp whatever
00:09:21 00:09:24 email i'm assuming you probably
00:09:22 00:09:25 have like a like a chat messenger with
00:09:24 00:09:26 them and they're they're pretty
00:09:25 00:09:28 responsive so
00:09:26 00:09:29 i actually have this notebook right so
00:09:28 00:09:31 it literally sits
00:09:29 00:09:33 on my uh it sits on my bookshelf like
00:09:31 00:09:34 right over right over there so
00:09:33 00:09:36 the packaging is awesome man because i
00:09:34 00:09:36 gave these out we gave these out to
00:09:36 00:09:38 everybody at our
00:09:36 00:09:40 at our event great packaging slides out
00:09:38 00:09:42 you have like you know the the kind of
00:09:40 00:09:43 the uh the explanation on the back
00:09:42 00:09:45 and it's just like a very premium it's
00:09:43 00:09:46 like just the most premium journal like
00:09:45 00:09:49 there is right
00:09:46 00:09:51 um so let's tok about that like the
00:09:49 00:09:51 branding of this like did you design
00:09:51 00:09:54 this
00:09:51 00:09:56 all yourself right or like even like
00:09:54 00:09:57 even just the intricacies like inside it
00:09:56 00:09:59 right there's so much guys i definitely
00:09:57 00:10:00 recommend go check it out pick yourself

00:10:11 00:10:14 creating the journal i i really love

00:10:14 00:10:22 uh products and branding i think is a
00:10:18 00:10:24 pretty fun for me so i went
00:10:22 00:10:26 to look what would be like the best
00:10:24 00:10:29 material for the
00:10:26 00:10:32 cover or what would be like the best uh
00:10:29 00:10:36 paper for that kind of uh journals and
00:10:32 00:10:36 well i i had to study how to create a
00:10:36 00:10:40 planner
00:10:36 00:10:43 or a notebook a pretty good notebook
00:10:40 00:10:46 and um yeah i designed everything i
00:10:43 00:10:49 am pretty like perfectionist i want to
00:10:46 00:10:53 have something uh simple
00:10:49 00:10:55 and easy to use um pretty well
00:10:53 00:10:56 for to me it's uh it's really nice so i
00:10:55 00:10:58 guess uh
00:10:56 00:10:59 how many people have said that how long
00:10:58 00:11:01 did it take you
00:10:59 00:11:02 from like iterations right so i'm
00:11:01 00:11:03 assuming they made some changes you're
00:11:02 00:11:04 like okay this is going to be it you
00:11:03 00:11:06 ordered the samples
00:11:04 00:11:07 you know it takes a while to get the
00:11:06 00:11:09 sample and then you're like oh i want to
00:11:07 00:11:10 change this like how long did that whole
00:11:09 00:11:11 process take you before you finally got
00:11:10 00:11:13 like 500 units
00:11:11 00:11:15 into you know a warehouse that you're
00:11:13 00:11:16 ready to start shipping out i would say
00:11:15 00:11:19 like two months
00:11:16 00:11:22 uh i yeah uh i
00:11:19 00:11:24 i decided it first i remember going to
00:11:22 00:11:26 affiliate office um
00:11:24 00:11:28 have then created like a mini journal
00:11:26 00:11:31 for me it was really expensive
00:11:28 00:11:34 oh yeah so i like uh so i test
00:11:31 00:11:37 how everything will work
00:11:34 00:11:39 you know and once i i'm happy with it
00:11:37 00:11:41 but i ordered a new sample
00:11:39 00:11:43 and when i had a sample i thought it was
00:11:41 00:11:45 perfect and create a new purchase order
00:11:43 00:11:46 for finance
00:11:45 00:11:48 that's awesome that's awesome man so
00:11:46 00:11:48 tell us a little bit about kind of like
00:11:48 00:11:50 what
00:11:48 00:11:51 what are your next uh things that that
00:11:50 00:11:52 you're working on because i know you're
00:11:51 00:11:55 really big on this
00:11:52 00:11:56 on social media definitely go follow uh
00:11:55 00:11:58 finisher secrets
00:11:56 00:12:00 um your posts regularly you're putting
00:11:58 00:12:02 out a lot of helpful valuable content
00:12:00 00:12:03 and obviously having call to actions
00:12:02 00:12:05 obviously you know come to your funnels
00:12:03 00:12:07 and whatnot uh so kind of like how
00:12:05 00:12:09 what's your kind of like growth plan
00:12:07 00:12:10 because i know you had a couple ideas
00:12:09 00:12:12 like different kind of different
00:12:10 00:12:14 smaller products that aren't as
00:12:12 00:12:15 premiumly priced or kind of like what
00:12:14 00:12:18 what's kind of some of your ideas that
00:12:15 00:12:21 you're working on right now to grow
00:12:18 00:12:25 well uh right now i'm uh
00:12:21 00:12:28 on the works to create a um
00:12:25 00:12:29 a digital prod uh it's gonna be a course
00:12:28 00:12:31 well it's been like
00:12:29 00:12:33 a year and maybe a half since i created
00:12:31 00:12:37 the journal i have
00:12:33 00:12:39 learned a lot about productivity
00:12:37 00:12:40 specifically for entrepreneurs and we
00:12:39 00:12:41 want to create a digital product of
00:12:40 00:12:44 course
00:12:41 00:12:45 that we can upsell and definitely
00:12:44 00:12:47 improve their
00:12:45 00:12:48 lifetime value that's something that i'm
00:12:47 00:12:51 focusing on right now
00:12:48 00:12:52 or is it just a one-time like uh course
00:12:51 00:12:54 cost
00:12:52 00:12:55 yeah uh uh one time i'm trying course
00:12:54 00:12:56 yeah okay
00:12:55 00:12:58 because then i'm assuming you have i
00:12:56 00:13:00 believe you had the monthly subscription
00:12:58 00:13:03 on the actual journals they were getting
00:13:00 00:13:05 them every quarter or or however
00:13:03 00:13:07 every quarter that they get them that's
00:13:05 00:13:07 awesome that's awesome so so kind of
00:13:07 00:13:09 tell us
00:13:07 00:13:10 you know to help some maybe the other
00:13:09 00:13:13 people that are a little bit beginners
00:13:10 00:13:14 uh out there listening right um that are
00:13:13 00:13:16 maybe you know
00:13:14 00:13:17 they're they want to start the brand
00:13:16 00:13:19 they want to do this but they want to
00:13:17 00:13:21 get some wins under their belt first
00:13:19 00:13:23 right so kind of like maybe some some
00:13:21 00:13:24 some some advice to to those people that
00:13:23 00:13:26 are maybe just launching their first
00:13:24 00:13:27 business they're struggling not seeing
00:13:26 00:13:27 the results that they want to kind of
00:13:27 00:13:29 like
00:13:27 00:13:30 what are some of the tips that maybe uh
00:13:29 00:13:34 you could share with them
00:13:30 00:13:37 okay so first uh uh choose
00:13:34 00:13:38 something that you like um i do say that
00:13:37 00:13:40 because
00:13:38 00:13:41 in this business there are so many times
00:13:40 00:13:45 where you are down
00:13:41 00:13:48 and you are basically uh overwhelmed
00:13:45 00:13:50 or depressed or whatever because things
00:13:48 00:13:52 are not going as expected right
00:13:50 00:13:54 so i believe that if you pick something
00:13:52 00:13:55 that you really like and you're
00:13:54 00:13:57 passionate about
00:13:55 00:13:58 and you are solving a real problem this
00:13:57 00:14:01 is gonna uh
00:13:58 00:14:05 make everything better everything
00:14:01 00:14:07 much uh easy easy right
00:14:05 00:14:09 so that's one thing pick something that
00:14:07 00:14:12 you love be consistent uh
00:14:09 00:14:15 well try to create your brand well
00:14:12 00:14:18 i love brands so maybe that's one thing
00:14:15 00:14:21 i would like to
00:14:18 00:14:22 suggest to to people starting out as
00:14:21 00:14:23 soon as you can start your own brand
00:14:22 00:14:25 start to
00:14:23 00:14:28 differentiate yourself from from the
00:14:25 00:14:32 competition from others trying to be
00:14:28 00:14:33 unique on your own on that space
00:14:32 00:14:35 did you think that right when you were
00:14:33 00:14:36 starting this business that hey you know
00:14:35 00:14:39 what
00:14:36 00:14:41 i want to like were you thinking brand
00:14:39 00:14:42 right out of the gate or was it kind of
00:14:41 00:14:44 like a step-by-step bridge like you're
00:14:42 00:14:46 testing and then the idea came oh like
00:14:44 00:14:48 wow like you know we're doing 10k a
00:14:46 00:14:49 month now like now it's ready i'm ready
00:14:48 00:14:50 to brand something
00:14:49 00:14:52 or did that is that when that kind of
00:14:50 00:14:54 idea started coming out for for finisher
00:14:52 00:14:56 secrets
00:14:54 00:14:58 i want to create the brand and just
00:14:56 00:15:01 validate the idea
00:14:58 00:15:02 first so yeah basically what was it i
00:15:01 00:15:06 wanted to create a brand
00:15:02 00:15:09 uh but i wanted to make sure that
00:15:06 00:15:12 uh i could continue on the brand or i
00:15:09 00:15:15 i was i was able to create it right uh
00:15:12 00:15:16 that's when i started to test uh the
00:15:15 00:15:18 planner
00:15:16 00:15:20 test idea to test the audience i think
00:15:18 00:15:23 that's important
00:15:20 00:15:24 um and know your your customer better
00:15:23 00:15:27 than anyone
