How to Audition For Shark Tank (Our Experience)

startTime durationTime text
00:00:00 00:00:03 today we're going to Miami to audition
00:00:02 00:00:05 for shark tank and I'm gonna be
00:00:03 00:00:06 auditioning for my company performance
00:00:05 00:00:08 nut butter and I'll be auditioning for
00:00:06 00:00:09 vino cars and in this video I want to
00:00:08 00:00:11 show you exactly what it's like how you
00:00:09 00:00:14 get on the show every step of the
00:00:11 00:00:15 audition and hopefully we'll show you
00:00:14 00:00:17 some tips and tricks I did a lot of
00:00:15 00:00:20 research for how to get on Shark Tank so
00:00:17 00:00:20 let's get into the tactiks
00:00:29 00:00:33 so there's a few steps to getting on
00:00:31 00:00:36 Shark Tank the first one and what we're
00:00:33 00:00:37 doing today is going to Miami and
00:00:36 00:00:39 auditioning now you don't have to go to
00:00:37 00:00:41 Miami to do it they do auditioning
00:00:39 00:00:43 they do tryouts all over the country you
00:00:41 00:00:45 go to their website I'll put a link down
00:00:43 00:00:47 below for the list of all the bless you
00:00:45 00:00:50 thank you for all the different tryouts
00:00:47 00:00:52 there was one in LA but I'm gonna be in
00:00:50 00:00:53 the Philippines going to meet my virtual
00:00:52 00:00:55 assistant I wasn't able to make that
00:00:53 00:00:58 that's why we decided to go to Miami and
00:00:55 00:01:00 Miami's all yeah my name is also just a
00:00:58 00:01:02 fun vacation I actually right after I
00:01:00 00:01:04 quit my corporate job I lived there for
00:01:02 00:01:07 a few months like right when I was
00:01:04 00:01:10 starting my first online business so and
00:01:07 00:01:11 I haven't been back since I've since I
00:01:10 00:01:13 first moved there so this is kind of
00:01:11 00:01:14 like a big deal for me there's a lot
00:01:13 00:01:15 I'll tell the rest of the story about
00:01:14 00:01:17 that there's a lot of story behind why
00:01:15 00:01:19 Miami all that kind of stuff but anyways
00:01:17 00:01:22 back to it back to shark tank so the
00:01:19 00:01:23 first step is auditioning and you can go
00:01:22 00:01:25 there's a lot of different auditions you
00:01:23 00:01:27 can also just submit submit and email
00:01:25 00:01:28 when you go to the audition you need to
00:01:27 00:01:29 make sure you got a print out the
00:01:28 00:01:31 paperwork there's some paperwork that
00:01:29 00:01:33 you're gonna have to submit and during
00:01:31 00:01:34 the audition you have a one-minute pitch
00:01:33 00:01:36 I might share my one-minute pitch we
00:01:34 00:01:38 both that we both prepared one-minute
00:01:36 00:01:40 pitches for them they'll then ask you a
00:01:38 00:01:42 few questions and you know you just have
00:01:40 00:01:44 a conversation why you're a good fit for
00:01:42 00:01:46 Shark Tank and if they accept you within
00:01:44 00:01:49 two weeks they give you a call and they
00:01:46 00:01:51 basically say hey good job you know you
00:01:49 00:01:52 made it past the first round the second
00:01:51 00:01:54 round from what I've heard you have to
00:01:52 00:01:56 submit a video if to submit a video and
00:01:54 00:01:59 have like why you'd be a good fit for
00:01:56 00:02:00 Shark Tank and then from there there's a
00:01:59 00:02:03 few more rounds that I haven't really
00:02:00 00:02:04 heard too much of but in this video
00:02:03 00:02:06 we're gonna document the whole process
00:02:04 00:02:09 document our trip what it's actually
00:02:06 00:02:11 like to audition so so you know before
00:02:09 00:02:13 you go exactly what you're going to be
00:02:11 00:02:15 facing all the different tips and tricks
00:02:13 00:02:17 right now we're going to LAX I'm gonna
00:02:15 00:02:18 get on a plane and
00:02:17 00:02:20 you know the next time you see us we'll
00:02:18 00:02:44 probably be on the plane or in Miami so
00:02:20 00:02:46 see you then the security was pretty
00:02:44 00:02:47 easy we actually I've never had such an
00:02:46 00:02:49 easy time going through security pretty
00:02:47 00:02:51 much nobody was in line I guess Monday
00:02:49 00:02:52 afternoon is the time to come so about
00:02:51 00:02:56 to get on a flight it's about a
00:02:52 00:02:58 five-hour flight from LA to Miami and I
00:02:56 00:03:01 really actually enjoy getting on flights
00:02:58 00:03:03 I kind of use it as a time to relax
00:03:01 00:03:04 watch some movies and I end up doing
00:03:03 00:03:06 some of my best thinking end up planning
00:03:04 00:03:08 out a lot of times the next month the
00:03:06 00:03:10 next few months the next few years that
00:03:08 00:03:12 being said today I need to work on some
00:03:10 00:03:14 SOPs for my virtual assistants remember
00:03:12 00:03:15 from last week I just hired two new
00:03:14 00:03:18 virtual assistants to work on
00:03:15 00:03:18 performance nut butter and they don't
00:03:18 00:03:20 really know what they're supposed to be
00:03:18 00:03:21 doing so I need to make that a little
00:03:20 00:03:25 bit more clear
00:03:21 00:03:25 Ariana's upset with me currently though
00:03:35 00:03:41 we got into Miami and checked into our
00:03:37 00:03:43 hotel last night the shark tank audition
00:03:41 00:03:45 is tomorrow and today we're mostly going
00:03:43 00:03:46 to be sightseeing in Miami but before we
00:03:45 00:03:48 do any sightseeing in Miami we're gonna
00:03:46 00:03:50 go get breakfast and fill out the shark
00:03:48 00:03:51 tank application so I'll go over with
00:03:50 00:03:53 you what some other questions are but I
00:03:51 00:03:55 do like looking at the application I do
00:03:53 00:03:57 have one big secret one thing that I
00:03:55 00:03:59 think will give us a much higher chance
00:03:57 00:04:00 of getting on the show share what the
00:03:59 00:04:02 tiknique is later in the video but I
00:04:00 00:04:04 think it could be huge it could be
00:04:02 00:04:06 something that'll differentiate both of
00:04:04 00:04:09 us and make us stand out a little bit so
00:04:06 00:04:12 this is our hotel room it's not not the
00:04:09 00:04:14 nicest but it's a great location
00:04:12 00:04:16 so not only is it really close to the
00:04:14 00:04:18 shark tank auditions which is important
00:04:16 00:04:21 because tomorrow we're gonna be getting
00:04:18 00:04:23 up at 6:00 in the morning but it's also
00:04:21 00:04:27 over here let's see they got a great
00:04:23 00:04:29 view of the river over by Miami also as
00:04:27 00:04:32 you may have notiked they messed up they
00:04:29 00:04:35 gave us two separate beds and another
00:04:32 00:04:37 thing that kind of went wrong was the
00:04:35 00:04:38 alarm went off this morning at 6 a.m.
00:04:37 00:04:41 which for us is 3:00 in the morning
00:04:38 00:04:43 Pacific Standard Time but I just kind of
00:04:41 00:04:45 rolled with it I've been recently saying
00:04:43 00:04:47 over and over again that the entire
00:04:45 00:04:49 universe is conspiring to help me
00:04:47 00:04:51 achieve my goals this is a quote I got
00:04:49 00:04:52 from the book The Alchemist or basically
00:04:51 00:04:54 says when you set a goal the entire
00:04:52 00:04:56 universe conspires to help you achieve
00:04:54 00:04:58 it because to me the two separate beds
00:04:56 00:05:00 although it's a little you know weird
00:04:58 00:05:01 because we usually do sleep in the same
00:05:00 00:05:04 bed maybe it means they'll get a little
00:05:01 00:05:06 bit nicer of a sleep before before the
00:05:04 00:05:07 shark tank audition and then waking up
00:05:06 00:05:09 at 6:00 in the morning usually that
00:05:07 00:05:10 would really upset me but you know what
00:05:09 00:05:12 we're gonna have to wake up tomorrow at
00:05:10 00:05:13 6:00 in the morning so maybe this is the
00:05:12 00:05:15 way of the universe kind of resetting my
00:05:13 00:05:17 biological clock anyways let's go get
00:05:15 00:05:18 breakfast and fill out the shark tank
00:05:17 00:05:19 application and then I'll share with you
00:05:18 00:05:21 all the different secrets for filling
00:05:19 00:05:23 out the application and how to make
00:05:21 00:05:26 yourself stand out and we'll start
00:05:23 00:05:26 getting into some of the action
00:05:30 00:05:34 on the application itself it asks a lot
00:05:33 00:05:36 of the questions you would expect
00:05:34 00:05:37 describe your product in detail what's
00:05:36 00:05:39 the valuation like how much are you
00:05:37 00:05:40 willing to give up for what percentage
00:05:39 00:05:42 is your company what the money would go
00:05:40 00:05:44 towards how much you made in the last
00:05:42 00:05:46 year how much you're planning on making
00:05:44 00:05:47 and then this upcoming year how much
00:05:46 00:05:49 you're planning in the next year I think
00:05:47 00:05:50 those two questions are probably two the
00:05:49 00:05:51 hardest now one key thing to keep in
00:05:50 00:05:53 mind when you're filling out this
00:05:51 00:05:56 application is this is a pitch this is a
00:05:53 00:05:57 sales pitch so try to phrase everything
00:05:56 00:05:59 in a way that makes your business sound
00:05:57 00:06:02 good it makes it sound like they want
00:05:59 00:06:03 you on Shark Tank for instance how much
00:06:02 00:06:05 money have you invested in your company
00:06:03 00:06:07 is one of the questions they ask and so
00:06:05 00:06:09 instead of just saying thirty thousand
00:06:07 00:06:12 dollars I say thirty thousand dollars I
00:06:09 00:06:14 cashed out my 401k I put all my savings
00:06:12 00:06:15 into this company and I say all that
00:06:14 00:06:17 just to kind of amp up the story just so
00:06:15 00:06:20 they know how serious I am how much I've
00:06:17 00:06:21 put into this company so you're filling
00:06:20 00:06:23 out an application like this you want to
00:06:21 00:06:25 make yourself stand out and make sure
00:06:23 00:06:27 every single answer gives them a reason
00:06:25 00:06:29 to put you on the show so another one of
00:06:27 00:06:31 the the tactiks we're gonna use to
00:06:29 00:06:33 hopefully stand out when we're applying
00:06:31 00:06:35 for Shark Tank is this is the shark tank
00:06:33 00:06:38 application packet we decided to print
00:06:35 00:06:39 it on resume paper which you know when
00:06:38 00:06:41 they have a stack full of white
00:06:39 00:06:43 applications hopefully this one will
00:06:41 00:06:44 stand out other than getting the
00:06:43 00:06:46 application the only thing I need to do
00:06:44 00:06:48 today is practike my speech and again
00:06:46 00:06:50 the speech is supposed to be a
00:06:48 00:06:52 one-minute pitch trying to get on the
00:06:50 00:06:55 show and there's some tips that I'll
00:06:52 00:06:56 share with you tomorrow on how to make a
00:06:55 00:06:58 good pitch and I did do a lot of
00:06:56 00:07:00 research on how to give a good pitch to
00:06:58 00:07:02 be on Shark Tank and there's two main
00:07:00 00:07:04 elements your pitch needs to have I'll
00:07:02 00:07:06 share what those two tips are tomorrow
00:07:04 00:07:08 but other than that today the only
00:07:06 00:07:11 things I have left to do is practike the
00:07:08 00:07:13 pitch over and over again and we're
00:07:11 00:07:14 gonna go to Miami Beach right now and
00:07:13 00:07:17 then later today we're gonna go to
00:07:14 00:07:20 Little Havana and enjoy the night before
00:07:17 00:07:20 the big day tomorrow
00:08:14 00:08:16 so we came over just to check out where
00:08:16 00:08:18 the shark tank
00:08:16 00:08:20 auditions are and there's already a line
00:08:18 00:08:22 in the you know the night before seven
00:08:20 00:08:23 o'clock so we're gonna have to get up
00:08:22 00:08:26 really early to make sure we get a spot
00:08:23 00:08:29 it's 4:30 in the morning the day of the
00:08:26 00:08:31 Shark Tank audition and we're gonna go
00:08:29 00:08:33 head over there in a second I actually
00:08:31 00:08:35 woke up at 3 in the morning and keep in
00:08:33 00:08:38 mind we're from the west coast were from
00:08:35 00:08:40 California so three in the morning Miami
00:08:38 00:08:43 time is actually midnight so I basically
00:08:40 00:08:46 woke up at midnight but I was so excited
00:08:43 00:08:49 I was just doing my speech my you know
00:08:46 00:08:50 audition one-minute speech over and over
00:08:49 00:08:53 again in my head and so we're gonna go
00:08:50 00:08:56 over and get in line for shark tank the
00:08:53 00:08:58 process is basically they start handing
00:08:56 00:08:59 out wristbands around 9:00 which means
00:08:58 00:09:01 you have to wait in line for four and a
00:08:59 00:09:03 half hours before they even start
00:09:01 00:09:06 handing out the wristbands once you get
00:09:03 00:09:08 a wristband you're allowed to go home go
00:09:06 00:09:10 get some breakfast if you want and then
00:09:08 00:09:11 you come back later for the pitch so I'm
00:09:10 00:09:13 very excited and I'm obviously gonna
00:09:11 00:09:16 show you step-by-step exactly what it's
00:09:13 00:09:18 like to audition for Shark Tank and
00:09:16 00:09:20 Ariana's right over here and she's gonna
00:09:18 00:09:22 be pitching Vino cards we were
00:09:20 00:09:24 practiking a lot last night so anyways
00:09:22 00:09:26 we got to get going so we can go wait in
00:09:24 00:09:28 the line luckily it's only a two minute
00:09:26 00:09:30 walk from our hotel to the line where
00:09:28 00:09:32 the shark tank is actually auditions are
00:09:30 00:09:36 taking place thanks to Ariana booking a
00:09:32 00:09:36 good hotel so let's head out
00:09:53 00:09:57 so it's 4:30 in the morning and there's
00:09:56 00:09:59 actually not that many people in line we
00:09:57 00:10:01 probably could have slept in a little
00:09:59 00:10:03 bit which is what some people told me
00:10:01 00:10:05 but I was too excited anyways and I
00:10:03 00:10:06 wanted to be one of the first people to
00:10:05 00:10:08 audition so that's another tip in
00:10:06 00:10:11 Hollywood they say you either want to be
00:10:08 00:10:12 the first to audition or the last
00:10:11 00:10:15 audition because the way the human mind
00:10:12 00:10:16 works is if you're somewhere in the
00:10:15 00:10:18 middle you get kind of clumped together
00:10:16 00:10:20 people remember oh yeah you were one of
00:10:18 00:10:22 the first people I auditioned and they
00:10:20 00:10:24 also remember oh yeah that was like the
00:10:22 00:10:25 last person I auditioned but if you're
00:10:24 00:10:27 in the middle it kind of gets clumped
00:10:25 00:10:29 another big thing is you don't want to
00:10:27 00:10:31 go right before lunch you don't want to
00:10:29 00:10:32 go early in the morning or you want to
00:10:31 00:10:35 go right after lunch there's a study
00:10:32 00:10:37 done and Israel about people about
00:10:35 00:10:39 prisoners getting paroled and they found
00:10:37 00:10:41 that judges were the least likely to
00:10:39 00:10:43 give parole least likely to prove
00:10:41 00:10:44 someone before lunch because they were
00:10:43 00:10:46 hungry they were annoyed they weren't
00:10:44 00:10:47 willing to take a chance I'm willing to
00:10:46 00:10:49 bet the same thing is true with shark
00:10:47 00:10:50 tank so let me go show you what the line
00:10:49 00:10:54 looks like right now once again it's not
00:10:50 00:10:57 that long and the waiting will begin
00:10:59 00:11:04 so it's 8:30 the lines gotten a lot
00:11:02 00:11:06 longer I'm going to show you about how
00:11:04 00:11:08 long the lines getting some of the
00:11:06 00:11:09 people at the end may not end up being
00:11:08 00:11:12 able to get in may not end up being able
00:11:09 00:11:12 to pitch but I guess we'll see
00:11:35 00:11:39 so we both just finished our pitch and I
00:11:38 00:11:41 know I made some mistakes there's some
00:11:39 00:11:43 things that I would do differently if I
00:11:41 00:11:44 would do it over again but babe what
00:11:43 00:11:46 things would you do differently if you
00:11:44 00:11:47 were to pitch again you were to do this
00:11:46 00:11:49 whole process again I thought it was
00:11:47 00:11:51 really well I am one thing that I would
00:11:49 00:11:55 maybe do differently if I had to go
00:11:51 00:12:00 through it again that I would maybe tok
00:11:55 00:12:13 more about the questions maybe tell them
00:12:00 00:12:15 a little bit more right
00:12:13 00:12:17 so that's something I did but I could
00:12:15 00:12:18 have done a better job at I had some
00:12:17 00:12:20 bullet points I wanted to hit for
00:12:18 00:12:21 instance I wanted to hit the fact it
00:12:20 00:12:22 didn't really fit into my speech but I
00:12:21 00:12:24 wanted to hit the fact that I have a
00:12:22 00:12:26 youtube channel full of entrepreneurs
00:12:24 00:12:28 that I want to help inspire and that
00:12:26 00:12:30 didn't fit into my speech but when later
00:12:28 00:12:32 he was asking me some random question I
00:12:30 00:12:34 said I think he asked me do you do this
00:12:32 00:12:35 full-time I'm like yeah well I also have
00:12:34 00:12:37 a YouTube channel and he was like whoa
00:12:35 00:12:40 you have a YouTube channel too you found
00:12:37 00:12:41 that really interesting yeah I don't
00:12:40 00:12:46 know what else is there anything else
00:12:41 00:12:48 you would do differently I'm just trying
00:12:46 00:12:55 to like break apart every little part of
00:12:48 00:12:56 it now I don't I'm really glad that we
00:12:55 00:12:57 got to be one of the first people to
00:12:56 00:12:59 audition and now we have the rest of the
00:12:57 00:13:01 day to enjoy so let's go enjoy the rest
00:12:59 00:13:03 of the day the plan for the rest of the
00:13:01 00:13:05 day is first we're gonna go to Kate chop
00:13:03 00:13:07 us which is this place when I lived here
00:13:05 00:13:10 I absolutely loved they actually moved
00:13:07 00:13:12 locations but it's the best Venezuelans
00:13:10 00:13:13 South American food I've ever had super
00:13:12 00:13:15 good
00:13:13 00:13:18 after we do that probably gonna take a
00:13:15 00:13:19 nap at some point and then plan is we're
00:13:18 00:13:21 probably gonna celebrate Valentine's Day
00:13:19 00:13:23 today because we'll be flying tomorrow
00:13:21 00:13:25 during Valentine's Day so probably
00:13:23 00:13:26 looking at don't--i some nice restaurant
00:13:25 00:13:27 maybe a Cuban restaurant baby get some
00:13:26 00:13:29 mojitos
00:13:27 00:13:31 salsa dancing hopefully or who knows we
00:13:29 00:13:32 might be too tired to do any of that so
00:13:31 00:13:34 we're gonna do our best to make it a fun
00:13:32 00:13:36 night go somewhere cool for some drinks
00:13:34 00:13:38 something let's explore some more of
00:13:36 00:13:40 Miami there's two important parts to
00:13:38 00:13:42 your pitch the first thing that every
00:13:40 00:13:44 pitch needs to have is a good product
00:13:42 00:13:47 and obviously Shark Tank only accepts
00:13:44 00:13:47 companies with good products but the
00:13:47 00:13:49 second half
00:13:47 00:13:51 can secret to a really good pitch and
00:13:49 00:13:54 Mindy which is the head casting director
00:13:51 00:13:57 toks about this is a secret that I'll
00:13:54 00:13:59 tell you tomorrow but first today we're
00:13:57 00:14:00 gonna go spend some time exploring Miami
00:13:59 00:14:01 I'm some Cuban food
00:14:00 00:14:03 I'll see you tomorrow to explain that
00:14:01 00:14:05 big secret that really makes a good
00:14:03 00:14:07 pitch what shark tank is really looking
00:14:05 00:14:09 for but first a little bit of time in
00:14:07 00:14:09 Miami
00:14:42 00:14:47 the second secret to pitching to be on
00:14:45 00:14:49 shark tank is the story so it's half
00:14:47 00:14:51 about the product but it's half about
00:14:49 00:14:53 the story in fact the story might be
00:14:51 00:14:55 even more important you have to remember
00:14:53 00:14:57 shark tank is a TV show it's all about
00:14:55 00:14:58 the story when it comes to television
00:14:57 00:15:00 shows it's all about hooking the
00:14:58 00:15:02 audience in so when you're pitching to
00:15:00 00:15:04 be on shark tank you need to tell your
00:15:02 00:15:06 story so to explain why a story is so
00:15:04 00:15:08 important I'm actually at the first
00:15:06 00:15:09 apartment I moved into after I quit my
00:15:08 00:15:11 corporate job so for anyone that's into
00:15:09 00:15:14 the channel you might not know but I had
00:15:11 00:15:16 a corporate job and I ended up getting
00:15:14 00:15:18 going to a pretty deep depression it was
00:15:16 00:15:20 basically I knew I wasn't being who I
00:15:18 00:15:22 was supposed to be I knew I wasn't doing
00:15:20 00:15:24 what I was supposed to be doing in this
00:15:22 00:15:26 world in this universe and I think the
00:15:24 00:15:28 universe kind of rewarded me with some
00:15:26 00:15:30 depression so I ended up quitting my job
00:15:28 00:15:33 cold turkey basically saying I'm gonna
00:15:30 00:15:35 start an e-commerce company and I moved
00:15:33 00:15:37 I was living in Chicago at the time I
00:15:35 00:15:39 moved to Miami and I actually moved to
00:15:37 00:15:41 this apartment right here so it's kind
00:15:39 00:15:43 of cool to be back in Miami this is my
00:15:41 00:15:46 first time being back since I lived here
00:15:43 00:15:48 so living in Chicago middle winner quit
00:15:46 00:15:49 my job super depressed moved to Miami
00:15:48 00:15:51 thinking that was gonna fix all my
00:15:49 00:15:52 problems but when I moved here I didn't
00:15:51 00:15:54 have any friends here I didn't really
00:15:52 00:15:56 have any way of meeting people here and
00:15:54 00:15:57 it was tough it was probably the
00:15:56 00:16:00 toughest three months of my life while I
00:15:57 00:16:01 was living in Miami trying to start a
00:16:00 00:16:03 business and at the same time I was
00:16:01 00:16:05 trying to start a business trying to
00:16:03 00:16:07 meet people doing all this stuff I ended
00:16:05 00:16:09 up struggling for a few years trying to
00:16:07 00:16:11 make money online my first company I
00:16:09 00:16:13 started was an online dance clothing
00:16:11 00:16:14 company I was helping my mom started an
00:16:13 00:16:16 online dance clothing company I
00:16:14 00:16:17 struggled for a lot of years we were
00:16:16 00:16:19 able to make some revenue we were able
00:16:17 00:16:21 to make it somewhat profitable but
00:16:19 00:16:22 ultimately it wasn't profitable enough
00:16:21 00:16:24 and I had to move back in with my
00:16:22 00:16:26 parents I was ready to throw in the
00:16:24 00:16:28 towel on entrepreneurship when I decided
00:16:26 00:16:29 to give it one more shot and launch a
00:16:28 00:16:32 product I was passionate about
00:16:29 00:16:34 performance nut butter in a few months
00:16:32 00:16:36 after launching performance nut butter I
00:16:34 00:16:38 started hitting my goal my goal since I
00:16:36 00:16:41 quit my job was to do six figures
00:16:38 00:16:43 passive income I started hitting $300
00:16:41 00:16:45 passive income and that's why on this
00:16:43 00:16:47 channel I'm such a big proponent of
00:16:45 00:16:48 creating what I call a passion product
00:16:47 00:16:49 creating a product that you're
00:16:48 00:16:52 passionate about putting it on
00:16:49 00:16:53 Kickstarter putting it on Amazon and I
00:16:52 00:16:55 think that's the best way to make money
00:16:53 00:16:58 online so again this is the first
00:16:55 00:16:59 apartment I moved into it's got a lot of
00:16:58 00:17:00 history to me
00:16:59 00:17:02 Miami in general is got a lot of
00:17:00 00:17:04 significance to me so it's nice to be
00:17:02 00:17:06 back here so in some ways this is kind
00:17:04 00:17:08 of a good benchmark of what I've done in
00:17:06 00:17:10 the last six years like how much my life
00:17:08 00:17:13 has changed the last time I was here I
00:17:10 00:17:15 was anxious I was depressed and now
00:17:13 00:17:17 things are going really well like I'm
00:17:15 00:17:19 really happy with the progress anyways
00:17:17 00:17:20 Arianna and I are gonna go enjoy the
00:17:19 00:17:22 rest of Miami we're gonna go to a
00:17:20 00:17:25 restaurant called Yardbird which is
00:17:22 00:17:27 super delicious amazing food
00:17:25 00:17:29 it's got ridiculous reviews and it's
00:17:27 00:17:30 right down the street it's a it actually
00:17:29 00:17:32 holds a lot of significant for me it's a
00:17:30 00:17:34 restaurant I went to when I was here it
00:17:32 00:17:35 was kind of probably the nicest
00:17:34 00:17:37 restaurant I could afford while I was
00:17:35 00:17:39 here and then after that we're gonna go
00:17:37 00:17:42 to the beach and enjoy Joe's stone crab
00:17:39 00:17:43 which I never went to while I was here
00:17:42 00:17:44 that's another one of those things just
00:17:43 00:17:47 to check off that I never had the chance
00:17:44 00:17:48 to enjoy while I was living in Miami so
00:17:47 00:18:10 this is a chance for me to actually go
00:17:48 00:18:12 and enjoy it and we're actually flying
00:18:10 00:18:14 back to LA tonight tomorrow when we get
00:18:12 00:18:18 back in LA I'll tell you what the
00:18:14 00:18:18 biggest lesson I learned this week was
00:18:20 00:18:29 I learned a lot this last week but by
00:18:26 00:18:31 far the biggest thing I learned has to
00:18:29 00:18:31 do with the way that I interacted with
00:18:31 00:18:34 Arianna
00:18:31 00:18:36 now Arianna has an amazing product we
00:18:34 00:18:39 know cars is an amazing product but to
00:18:36 00:18:40 be honest all last week I didn't think
00:18:39 00:18:43 that she was ready to get on Shark Tank
00:18:40 00:18:45 yet and I made this very clear to her
00:18:43 00:18:47 and that's a problem because she was
00:18:45 00:18:49 really excited to get on Shark Tank she
00:18:47 00:18:51 really wanted to get on the show and she
00:18:49 00:18:53 was excited to audition and I was
00:18:51 00:18:55 sitting there kind of being debbie
00:18:53 00:18:56 downer telling her that you know what I
00:18:55 00:18:59 don't think your business is ready
00:18:56 00:19:02 there's not very good odds but the truth
00:18:59 00:19:04 is why why should I say that to her why
00:19:02 00:19:06 should I even think that there's been
00:19:04 00:19:09 people in the show that have been less
00:19:06 00:19:10 qualified than her business or her to be
00:19:09 00:19:13 on the show so it's definitely possible
00:19:10 00:19:15 that she can get on but yet I kind of
00:19:13 00:19:17 was down on it this whole time this made
00:19:15 00:19:19 me start thinking about a lot of things
00:19:17 00:19:21 including my own self-tok in my head a
00:19:19 00:19:23 lot of times I'll say you know you don't
00:19:21 00:19:26 deserve it yet you don't deserve it yet
00:19:23 00:19:29 even when maybe I do maybe I do deserve
00:19:26 00:19:32 and maybe she does deserve at least the
00:19:29 00:19:34 opportunity to get on Shark Tank but the
00:19:32 00:19:37 big thing I learned from this is to
00:19:34 00:19:40 enjoy the journey and the first few
00:19:37 00:19:42 years of my entrepreneurial career I did
00:19:40 00:19:43 not enjoy the journey and this phrase
00:19:42 00:19:46 enjoy the journey
00:19:43 00:19:48 has a lot of different meanings to me
00:19:46 00:19:49 and one of the big things was when I was
00:19:48 00:19:51 quitting my job
00:19:49 00:19:53 when I was quitting my corporate job a
00:19:51 00:19:55 lot of people told me to enjoy the
00:19:53 00:19:58 journey I even got a handwritten like
00:19:55 00:20:00 goodbye note basically saying to enjoy
00:19:58 00:20:03 the journey and this phrase enjoy the
00:20:00 00:20:04 journey was just so beautiful there was
00:20:03 00:20:06 like a glow every time I'd hear it
00:20:04 00:20:08 there's like a glow around this phrase
00:20:06 00:20:11 and this phrase reminds me of the hero's
00:20:08 00:20:13 journey in Joseph Campbell toks about
00:20:11 00:20:16 this this is the monomyth this is
00:20:13 00:20:18 basically what every story every movie
00:20:16 00:20:21 you watch is based around if the hero
00:20:18 00:20:23 goes out a gets called to an adventure
00:20:21 00:20:25 doesn't want to go initially eventually
00:20:23 00:20:26 goes on this adventure this
00:20:25 00:20:29 what the painting I painted that
00:20:26 00:20:31 painting as a reminder of this phrase
00:20:29 00:20:33 enjoy the journey and when you're
00:20:31 00:20:35 watching a movie you know that the hero
00:20:33 00:20:37 you know that the main character wants
00:20:35 00:20:39 to achieve some goal but you don't think
00:20:37 00:20:41 to yourself well I'm gonna wait till he
00:20:39 00:20:43 achieves that goal or she achieves that
00:20:41 00:20:46 goal before I'm gonna enjoy the movie
00:20:43 00:20:48 no you enjoy the entire movie you enjoy
00:20:46 00:20:50 every scene every aspect and when
00:20:48 00:20:53 there's a challenge when there's
00:20:50 00:20:55 conflict in the movie you're excited so
00:20:53 00:20:57 this idea of getting on shark tank the
00:20:55 00:21:00 odds of me getting on Shark Tank are
00:20:57 00:21:02 very small 35,000 people apply every
00:21:00 00:21:05 year 100 people are accepted that's one
00:21:02 00:21:08 in 350 people that's like if you rolled
00:21:05 00:21:10 three dice that each had seven sides
00:21:08 00:21:12 hypothetikally getting a seven seven
00:21:10 00:21:14 seven that's you have to be very lucky
00:21:12 00:21:16 to get on Shark Tank does that mean you
00:21:14 00:21:18 shouldn't apply no not at all
00:21:16 00:21:20 you should definitely apply and on this
00:21:18 00:21:22 channel every week I'm trying out
00:21:20 00:21:24 something new to grow my business
00:21:22 00:21:27 sometimes it's things that are very easy
00:21:24 00:21:28 and very achievable and sometimes it's
00:21:27 00:21:30 things like this where I take a big
00:21:28 00:21:31 swing and try to hit it out of the park
00:21:30 00:21:33 and the truth is you can't control the
00:21:31 00:21:35 outcome you can only control how you
00:21:33 00:21:37 perceive it how you feel about it and
00:21:35 00:21:40 that's where this phrase enjoy the
00:21:37 00:21:42 journey comes from if you are interested
00:21:40 00:21:45 in going out for Shark Tank try it out
00:21:42 00:21:48 enjoy the experience I had an amazing
00:21:45 00:21:50 time in Miami so make sure to LIKE
