How to Change Shopify Language
Published on: June 3 2023 by pipiads
In this tutorial, we will learn how to add a language switcher to your menu in Shopify. There are two methods for doing this, and we recommend the first one. Although it may appear complicated, it is actually quite simple if you follow along.
Step-by-Step Guide:
1. Open your Shopify admin and click on Online Store and then Themes.
2. Under Actions, select Edit Code.
3. Scroll down and find Snippets, then select Weglot Switcher Liquid. This will display your unique API key.
4. Copy and paste a piece of code from our support documents into the section labeled Header Nav. This will determine where your language switcher appears on your website.
5. Replace Header Nav with the CSS selector of the parent element where you want the language switcher to be placed. For example, if you want it in your menu bar, replace it with Menu.
6. Click Save. More information about this method can be found in our developer documentation.
Alternatively, you can use the second method:
1. Go to Online Store and select Navigation.
2. Choose the menu where you want your language switcher to appear. Let's choose the main menu.
3. Add a menu item with the name of the language you want to add to your store, such as French.
4. In the link section, type Weglot with a capital W and the language code for French, which is fr. Click Add.
5. Repeat the process for each language you want to add, such as English with the language code en.
6. Click Save Menu to save your changes.
7. If you want to make it a drop-down menu, simply click Add Menu Item and create a new menu item with the name Languages and link # and drag your language items underneath it.
8. Click Save. More information about this method can be found in our developer documentation.
Adding a language switcher to your menu in Shopify is a simple process that can greatly benefit your international customers. We recommend using the first method, which involves editing your code, but both methods are easy to follow with the help of our support documents and developer documentation. How to Modify Shopify Checkout Process Language (Shopify Plus not required)
Hey guys, today I am going to share with you a simple hack that we executed to improve the conversion rate from our checkout process on Shopify. This has been working really well for us and I'm excited to share it with you.
The Hack:
We used to mention the estimated delivery time of the product on the product page. When the user clicks on it on an ad or on the landing page, they see the delivery time and then check out. But more often than not, people click a quick buy button from the collection page or come in from another channel directly with the product in their cart from their past session. In all of these cases, it is extremely helpful to showcase the estimated delivery time on your checkout pages.
How to Implement the Hack:
To showcase the delivery time on your checkout pages, you need to modify the language on your checkout pages. Head to your Shopify dashboard and then hit the settings. Inside the settings, you want to look for the checkout. You don't need to be on Shopify Plus to do this. Just head to the last option, Manage Checkout Language. Once you're in the checkout language, you'll see a lot of text labels that you can modify. We're going to look for the one where we can modify the shipping address text label. Simply paste the text in the shipping address title field and save the options. This will show up on your checkout page.
Modifying the text fields on your checkout pages can help you showcase important information to your users and ultimately improve your e-commerce conversion rates. This is a simple workaround that anyone can use, regardless of whether you're on Shopify Plus or not. Give it a try and see how it works for you. Thanks for watching!
