Since I started using Shopify, I struggled with the limited options for optimizing and modifying product pages. However, with the release of Shopify Online Store 2.0, things have improved significantly. Now, we can optimize product pages without the need for professional web developers.

To create effective product pages, it's important to do market research to understand potential customers. I visit competitor stores and read Amazon reviews to gain insight into customer needs, questions, and concerns.

Content Creation:

After gathering information, I created product pages with all the necessary details, including dimensions, density, care guides, frequently asked questions, and more. I also created visual illustrations of my unique selling propositions using Canva, which helps customers understand the benefits of my products.

Product Page Template:

To create a product page template, I used the Symmetry theme and added blocks for product photos, the buy box, unique selling propositions, and dynamic tabs for specifications and descriptions. I also used meta fields to link dynamic tabs to product-specific information.

By doing thorough market research and creating effective product pages, we can attract, convert, and retain customers. With the right tools and strategies, Shopify Online Store 2.0 makes it easier than ever to optimize and modify product pages.

Hey guys, I recently did a poll on my YouTube channel and the most voted for topic was Shopify 2.0. Today, I want to talk about page templates, which is a new feature of Shopify 2.0 that many people aren't using yet. It's an underrated feature that can really be quite powerful.

One of the most common questions I get is how to add a specific feature to one product page without affecting the rest of the products on the store. For example, adding a gift message field to a product that only applies to certain customizable products. In Shopify 2.0, this can easily be done with page templates.

Another good use of page templates is to make a completely different design for different product pages. For flagship products, you may have a lot more to say about them, and you want to talk about their features a lot more. For example, Allbirds has different product page templates for their shoes and beanie.

Page templates aren't limited to just product pages. You can use them on regular static pages like your about page or team page. Allbirds uses page templates and sections everywhere, which is now on Shopify 2.0, to create their Our Story page.

To create your own templates in Shopify 2.0, you can duplicate the default product template or create a new one. Remember to assign the template to the product or collection page you want to use it on. Be conscious of what content you're putting on the template, as it will be the same across all products that use that template.

To edit product pages, go to Shopify and click on products on the left-hand side. You can edit the title, description, images, and variants on the product page. Product variants are a combination of product size and color. It is recommended to have only two to three colors per product to avoid overwhelming customers. To edit variants, go to the product page and scroll down to options and hit edit to add or remove values.

To change the price, go to the variants section and edit the prices individually or use the bulk editor to change all prices at once. To put a product on sale, edit the compare at price and label it as a higher price, and wait for all variants to save before leaving the bulk editor.

To add product photos, go to the media section, click add, and choose the image you want to upload. You can reorganize how the photos appear and set the product variant image. To change variant images, highlight the variant you want to change and click more actions and add the image.

To add tags and label product types, go to the product page and edit the product type and tags. To add tags to multiple products, highlight the products, click more actions, and add the tags. To create a collection, go to the collections page and click create collection. You can choose to make it manual or automated, and sort it by product tags or types.

As an action item, optimize the variants pictures and tags for your imported product and create a collection if it applies. With these tips, you can efficiently edit and organize your products on Shopify.

Hey everyone, it's Laura here with Fluorescent and today I'm going to walk you through how to use metafields and dynamic sources to make your product pages smarter for your customers.

Before we dive in, it's important to mention that this functionality is only available on Shopify stores using an OS2 version theme. Let's get started with the basics.

What are Meta Fields and Dynamic Sources?

Meta fields are extra data fields built into Shopify that allow you to store additional information for products, collections, orders, blogs, and pages. These fields can then be used to display unique content on your site. On the other hand, dynamic sources are accessed in your theme editor and they link the data you've stored as a meta field to sections within your theme.

Using Meta Fields and Dynamic Sources:

To start using this feature, we'll first write the metafield options in our Shopify admin. We'll navigate to settings, then meta fields, and for our example, we'll click on products. From there, we'll add a definition and start building our new meta field. We'll add a name to the meta field that describes what it will be used for. In our example, this is where we'll describe the fabrics used, so we'll name our meta field materials.

Next, we'll add a description, which is optional but helpful in inputting the correct values. We'll select the content type button and choose text. For our example, we'll select multi-line text and repeat the process for as many meta fields as we want to use on our product page.

Once we've created our meta fields, we'll add the values into our product meta fields. When we navigate to our products listing, we'll see that meta field sections are available at the bottom of each page. We'll fill those in for each of our products and then move on to the final step of linking these in our theme.

If we have a large product catalog, we may find using a third-party app useful for applying these meta fields in bulk.

Now that our products all have their meta field data set up, we'll head to our theme editor and get those connected on our product page. We'll navigate to the product page where we want those accordions to appear. From the product overview section in the toolbar, we'll click add block and choose the collapsible row.

We'll open this new section and give it a title. In our case, we'll use materials. In the text section, we'll click the dynamic sources icon in the top right corner, select our materials meta field, and then click insert. Finally, we'll save our changes and that's it!

By using meta fields and dynamic sources, we can display unique content on our product pages without having to use multiple product templates. This makes our product pages smarter and more informative for our customers.
