How to Sell Digital Products on Shopify for Beginners in 2022 | COMPLETE Tutorial
in this video, i'm going to show you how to start a shopify store and sell digital items, and by the end of this video, you will have a digital store that looks like this. it's not hard to create. by the end of this, you'll learn how to sell a digital item and i'll walk you through this step by step. you don't want to miss this. hey, what's going on? everybody, my name is vic oyadeji, at the online starting block, and i'm going to show you how to start a shopify store to sell digital items- not physical items like something you can touch, but digital items. so the first thing that people like to do at this stage is to go ahead and create their digital store on shopify, but that is a trap. do not do this unless you already have a crowd. if you don't already have a crowd of people who already know who you are, or if you have an email list or you have a big social following, if you don't have that kind of crowd, do not start a digital store, because you'll be giving shopify 29 a month after the 14 day free trial. you're giving 29 a month and then you're trying to promote your products and it's not going to work out with physical products, it's much easier to promote your products. you can use facebook ads, you can use influencers, and they are very effective because they can put it on, they can show you what it is and customers eyes can see it and it works out. with digital products not so much. there's nothing that they can hold or that they can touch, so it's much harder to use facebook ads or influencers to promote your product. so the best way to do it is to already use a crowd that you already have. so to get this kind of crowd you want to follow the build, grow, monetize phase. the build phase is: what do you have to offer? do you have a blog to offer? do you have online videos on youtube or whatever? do you have a large following on a group board or like facebook groups or reddit or discord? what do you have to offer if you want to know how to make a blog? i do have a video that shows people how to start a blog and that link is going to be in the description, so check it out. but you have to have something to offer. you need to have something that people know you for and give a lot of great value, and that is the build part. what do you have to offer? what value can you give to help people out, especially when it comes to making money, saving money, saving time or improving their health? anything that makes your life better in those ways is going to bring a lot of good traffic to you and it's going to bring a lot of great value. so what can you do? what do you provide? that's the build phase. after the build phase is the growth phase. that is where you promote what you have or the value that you have. you promote that on social media. you promote that with your blog. you promote that with your website. you promote it any way that you want to promote it. if you're an artist, maybe you have shows. whatever the case is, use what you have and promote it out to the audience that needs to see it and then, from there, find a way for them to join your email list. it's very, very important that you have an email list of your most- uh, i call them warm- visitors. these are people who know who you already are. cold people don't know who you are. warm people know who you are. the warmest people are people in your email list. the warmest people are people in your email list. the warmest people are people in your email list, so find a way to get them in your email list. and if you need help to get people on your email list using an email service provider like aweber or convertkit, check the link in the description and check out the video right here and you will see a link that will take you to the other video that shows you how to create a landing page. so once you have that, and once you have around maybe 50 to 100 people in your email list- preferably about 250 to 300 people in your email list- once you have that, then, and only then, can you go to the monetize phase. so there's a build phase- what do you have to offer? the growth phase, which is promoting every time, and then a monetized phase, which is people in your email list. but if you have a large social following with over 10 000 followers and higher, you don't need an email list. but from here you can start selling digital products in the monetize phase, and this is where you actually create your shopify store. now i wanted to tok about this before we started. i know i'm toking for a long time in the beginning, but i wanted to say all this because i don't want you to create your story in the beginning and then say, oh, where are my people at? and nobody's come in and then you're paying 29 a month and you feel like you're wasting money. i've seen a lot of people go through that. do not go through that. so please find something to tok about. first, that's your build phase and then give people a lot of value in all the challenge that you can. that's your growth phase and then from there, you can start making money by selling digital products and that's the monetized phase and that's where we at right now. so the first thing that we're going to do in this phase is to sign up for a shopify, and we're going to sign up for the 14 day free trial and let's get going. let's get it going, all right. let's go to shopify and the link to shopify is going to be in the description. in the description, you'll get shopify. you'll probably see a screen that looks a little bit like. i think it's called: uh, let's do this. this might be it. so you might see a screen that looks like this in the shopify sign up link that i have below- the link i have below. so when we are here or if you are here, doesn't matter. go to shopifycom. you just want to go to start free trial. click the button in the top right. you'll see this. still the same thing when you go to sign up to shopify. if you click this link and you might see this. whatever the case is, it's the same thing, all right. so the email password and your store name. first thing you want to do is figure out a store name that works. so what i want to sell, i probably want to sell. let's do a cookbook, because my wife has a plant-based blog called the mobile life. so we will say: let's get it. let's call it love's cookbook. all right, that works, love's cookbook. so that definitely works. if it didn't work and say it wouldn't work. so now that we have a store name that works, let's create an email address, and let's create one specifically for love's. and to do that, you want to go to gmail, good old gmail. let's create a gmail account. if you're already logged in, you can go ahead and log out, and once you're logged out, you want to go to, let's say, use another account and then go to create an account for myself, all right. so let's do a first and last name. let's do loves cookbook, all right, and let's see if it's available- loves cookbook. and let's see, that's there. it's available. loves cookbook. gmailcom is available. that's a great business name. i'm about to guess my idea to use this. well, you can use this email because it's about to be taken, but you can use something very similar, all right. now it's going to ask you for your phone number to know who you are for security purposes. yeah, so use your phone number. you can also put and recovery email address just in case something happens to your account. this recovery email address will be the account that google will contact and says: hey, something happened to your account. we need you to authorize this account to be reopened. so that is what this is for. is optional if you are going to put an email there. put an email that you already know and you access frequently, and then you put your birth date right there and your gender and you hit next. next up is going to ask for you to verify your phone number. hit send and then it's going to give you a confirmation verification code. confirmation verification- it's going to do a verification code. go to your phone and check it out. if you don't have a phone or you can't see your text, you can hit the call instead, solve the problem and once you verify it and e,

hi everyone, welcome back to my channel. my name is maywe and i teach creative people how to sell their art online, and today's video is a video meant for people who want to sell digital download items- basically printable items- and don't want to use etsy for it. the biggest alternative for etsy sellers in terms of selling printable download items, as well as their own handmade crafts or print-on-demand items and even drop shipping, is shopify. shopify is not a marketplace. you cannot rank higher on shopify or get clients from their system. shopify is basically the tiknology that allows you to instantly set up a full on shop with payment processing to sell pretty much anything, and today we're going to be using shopify and their own app for digital downloads and basically create a shop that you can sell digital download items or printables, not on etsy, but with shopify. the list of digital download business ideas or printable business ideas is enormous. you could be selling printable greeting cards, printable stationery, printable coloring pages, printable wall art, as well as even digital download cards, because some people like digital cards. they also like digital coloring pages. you could be selling printable planners, printable stikers, as well as homeschooling sheets, flash cards to learn english. you can be selling printable sudoku and other games like word searches and mazes, and basically create a full-on business just from things that you can upload and people can later on purchase from you and download to their computer and print at home or print at a print shop or even use digitally. you can also be selling clip art, seamless patterns, whether they are for personal use or commercial use, and really make a true business from files that you create on your computer and upload so people can download and use. there's actually a video made on this channel for digital download business idea for etsy sellers and, even though it was targeted to etsy sellers, it also applies to shopify and i'm going to leave a link to that video down below. while a lot of people are being put out by shopify's fees, like setup fees, as well as having to market your own shop and not having a marketplace to back you up like etsy, there are a lot of reasons why you would want to set up your own shop using shopify or any kind of online service like woocommerce or even pay hip, instead of investing in an etsy shop. the first reason are fees, because etsy has a lot, a lot, a lot of fees and, yes, if you're selling one or two products a month. these fees are not going to be consequential. you're not going to even feel them and they're not going to come near to having your own shopify store for 29 a month, which is the cheapest plan. but if you quickly search on youtube for people who close their etsy shop and open the shopify store, you'll find out that a lot of people have closed their etsy shop because they found out they will be paying less fees on shopify once they actually started selling. and if your plan is to grow in advance, why not just start on the shop you want to be using later on? another reason why you might want to have your own shopify store, or any kind of store other than etsy, is branding. yes, on your etsy store you can upload a logo, you can upload a cover photo, but the logo of etsy is always going to be there, the website is always going to be orange and a lot of times if you sell something to someone and they show it to a friend, they're not gonna say they got it from you, they're gonna say they got it from etsy, destroying your entire branding process, when in shopify you can control the colors, the fonts, basically anything, even the size of the photos you want to be using, instead of committing yourself to the sizes and layout of etsy. you also don't have the option to have a home page on etsy that you design, or a blog with posts and artikles, your own terms and condition and about page, a contact us page and basically anything you want you can put on shopify. it's yours. and that leads me to the third reason why a lot of people choose shopify over etsy, which is control. you have no one controlling your system. if buyers are gonna give you bad reviews, it's not gonna get you shut down by etsy and you cannot get deactivated because of a bug and then reactivated few days later. you hold the control. this is your domain, this is your shop and you can take control into managing your shop the way you want. the fourth and last reason is competition and yes, shopify is not a marketplace. you have to market yourself, you have to constantly bring business in and there is no marketplace for people to search for things and come right to your shop from this marketplace. however, people do search on google and banking on google seo is far better than banking on etsy seo, especially as a new seller, because having past sales on etsy and good reviews is actually an seo factor. being on a marketplace can be really hard, because if someone is going to come to your store if you don't have any sales, if you don't have a review or if you're a bit more expensive than what they thought underneath that product, they're just going to see products from different sellers and go to it, while on your shopify store there is no one else but you. so every traffic that you bring in- if someone is coming from google, seo or from your pinterest account or any other kind of social media account that you promote your store at, they only see you zero competition on your platform, which is something that i like to see personally, and i think that once you go over the hurdle of marketing yourself, it does start to look better that you're only marketing yourself and you're not bringing traffic to a platform that later on goes and buy from other sellers. in this video, i'm going to take you to my screen where i'm going to show you how i open a free trial account with shopify. they cost 29 a month with their cheapest plan, but you get 14 days free trial to try it out and basically start up your shop and see that this is something that you want to do and get you started, so i'm going to go in, i'm going to list myself onto shopify and open a shop. after that, i'm going to activate the digital download app, i'm going to show you where it is and how to use it, while also uploading one product and one collection. the product that i've chosen for today's tutorial is a printable greeting card. i actually made this greeting card while doing a different tutorial for this channel about how to make and sell printable greeting cards on etsy. if you want to learn how to make printable greeting cards, you can go ahead to that video and check it out. i'm gonna leave a link to that down below, as well as how to market it on etsy, how to list it on etsy, how to create a mock-up if you choose to use it on etsy and not on shopify. however, during this tutorial with shopify, i'm also gonna show you how i'm making the mock-up to be used on shopify, as well as writing the title and description and the tags for this product. i will not be showing you the entire shop setup. it takes way longer and you really have to go into branding, and i really wanted to make a video just to open up your mind to this possibility and show you the steps to do it in the right way, because i've seen people who actually open a digital download shop on shopify and couldn't find how to attach a pdf document or a digital document to their downloads and basically created a photoshop for digital downloads that doesn't download anything if someone purchases a product. so i really want to show you how easy this process is and sort of also take you through how to build your homepage and how to customize your shop using shopify free themes you can use also paid themes. really go into it and check it for yourself. i would like to remind you of my favorite game, which is: what does this button do? Simple Tutorial on Selling Shopify Digital Downloads
Hey everybody, this is Ori from Astral Web And I'm going to show you in this video how to create simple digital downloads for your Shopify app. So what does that mean? digital downloads? If your store, if your shop, is selling digital products. so, for example, you're selling, like, some kind of PDF or some kind of course or something, that's digital, right, It's not physical. you don't ship it physically within the mail. someone purchases something and they get access to something. that's what you call a digital download, right. So maybe you made a song, someone pays $1,, $2,, $10, whatever it is, and then they actually can go and download that specific product. So there's a lot of apps in the app store for this, but I'm going to cover in this video the most simple one. It's free and it's made by Shopify. it's called Digital Downloads. So let's kind of walk you through how it looks, what you get out of the box, Really really simple. And then you also might want to consider some more complicated things via third-party apps and paid things, but I want to show you the starting point, okay, So what you want to do first of all is you want to go to the Shopify App Store, just search for Digital Downloads and find the one by Shopify, okay, And so you're going to go and add the app And you're going to install it. right, It's free, Pretty straightforward, Okay. so I'm going to install it. And what I'm going to do right now is I'm actually going to first of all go ahead and create a product, So I'll show you some basic stuff. So, first of all, before I create the product- sorry, one thing- settings. So you have email templates. So, first of all, when someone actually orders and pays for the order, you're going tothe system is going to send them emails automatikally to tell them about their order and tell them how to download their product. So you really have some basic settings. So, first of all, number 1 is after they pay- if you click on attachmentexcuse me- after they pay, they're going to get this Downloads ready email. So what that means is after they get a thank you email- "Thank you for your order" email- right after that, they're going to get this email, which you can customize the subject line and the words, to basically say: "Hey, here's your download link, click here, and then you can get your file. right, you already paid for it". And if you've seen some of our other videos, when you customize templates. you'll have these kind of variables, these things that plug in, you know, for example, the customer first name, customer last name, the product name, things like that. So you have all the things on the right. If you want to put in the shop name, for example, you just copy it, put it where you want. it's pretty simple, Okay. The second thing you have in the settings is sometimes you want to sell a product that is changing over time. So, for example, if I am selling some, let's say, a subscription for a magazine or something like that, every time I update the magazine- for example once a month or maybe like there's a version like version 1, 2, 3, 4, if I update that, which you'll see later, I just literally upload my file again, for example mp3 or PDF. Anytime it gets updated, the customer will get another email and you can edit that email and say: "Hey, we've updated it, you can go and download the latest version. okay, It looks pretty much the same". So, before we actually go to the management of the orders, let's go in and create a product. So I'm going to go to products, normal Shopify stuff- and then we're going to go Add product and I'm going to make something. So I'm going to, for example, sell my song, right, So let's call it Morning MP3. So if I made something- okay, this is my morning singing, okay, Something like that- And I'm going to go, obviously I'm going to make you know, put my pictures, my pricing, everything. So I'm just going to make up some price, So 2.99.. I'm not going to upload an image right now. And then we're going to go here, put some inventory, for example, you don't have to, and I'm going to uncheck this as a physical product And uncheck it because I'm not shipping something physical and I don't want customers in the checkout phase to do more work than they need to. So they're only going to fill in the billing information and they can proceed. So it saves them a lot there, some time, maybe a lot, maybe some, And no variations, nothing. So I finished it And I click on Save, okay. Once I do that, basically I have a normal product. I didn't do anything with the actual app we just made. So if I view this product, you can see it's a normal product. I can just buy, check out, but actually nothing happens. So if I check out with a default Shopify side, I can buy it and that's it, nothing happens. You'd actually have to manually fulfill something, right? something digital or virtual. So now I need to go to the next step, which is go to the app. right, And I have this Morning MP3.. I'm going to copy the name and I'm going to go to the Digital Downloads app, the one we just installed. Going to go to the dashboard. This is something from before, so disregard this right. On a new installation, you wouldn't have this, okay. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to go toexcuse me. I'm going to go to Dashboard andsorry my mistake. I made a mistake for a second. So I'm going to go back to the product edit, actually, and I'm going to set it up from there. Okay, so I'm going to go to the product, for example, here, search for it, Morning MP3,, okay, and I'm going to go here and click on More actions And I'm going to actually attach the mp3, okay. So I'm going to go here, attach it, okay, And then this is kind of the product itself. And then I go and I upload the file right here. So I'm just gonna pretend like I'm making something, some kind of mp3, so morningmp3,. excuse me And don't worry about this. I'm just quickly making it for an example. right, Let's just say I had some file. Okay, Now I'm going to go upload it. I'm going to go morningmp3 and I upload it. it's going to take a few seconds, Okay, good, And that's it. So I did this. Now. if I go back to the dashboard now, I'm ready to go. So now I have the product here, right, It comes from an actual product that has an attachment, And I can see how many times that this specific attachment has been sold and how many times has it been downloaded. Right, Usually you should have the same amount of sales as downloads, So let's do it. Okay, so now I'm going to go to the product I'm going to refresh. Now we have the product, right, so I'm going to buy it, proceed to check out and I'll show you what's going on. Okay, So I can do that. Now I only have to fill up the billing address, because there's no actual shipment. I can go pay for it, right, Don't worry that I have cash on delivery. this is just a test site, So obviously you'd have a real processing of payments Once you'd collect payment and move forward. So I made the order, Okay, and let me open my email. Okay, I've got the order. I confirm the order Now. if you go to the app itself, you'll be able to see that Morning MP3.. Okay, so Morning MP3 has zero sales right now, And the reason for that is because we have COD, which is just cash on delivery, which is not really accepting money. I would have to manually actually accept this order and then it would process. But with a real credit card or real payment, you don't have to do this. this is just because of this demo site in this video, but I have the order right now, Okay, and then I have it. it's unfulfilled, obviously, But I'm going to mark it as paid. So if you had a real credit card payment, Shopify payments, PayPal, any of those, you don't have to do this step I'm doing right now. I'm going to mark it as paid. Okay, now it's good. But now the order itself hasn't been fulfilled yet, but it has been paid. So if I go back to my app and I go to
Start A Shopify Store To Sell Digital Products (Shopify Tutorial For Beginners)
in this video i am going to walk through setting up a shopify store specifically to sell digital products, and it is super simple. i am going to go step by step. so if you want to follow along, click the link below and sign up for a 14 day free trial on shopify. all you have to do is enter your email, create a password and give your store a name to get started, and then you will just hit the create your store button and it will really quickly create the store for you. this literally takes no time at all. next, when you go through this process, shopify is going to create your actual store and then they're going to want some more information from you specifically about what you're selling and what you're going to be selling in your store. so the next little series of questions is just going to be shopify trying to get information from you. so they will want you to tell them a little bit about yourself and what you're already selling, if you're already selling or if you're playing around, if you have no products or if you are already an established store. they just want to know kind of what you are going to be doing with your shop on shopify. this is a series that you can go through and you'll just have to also add your address, which is part of the deal. you do have to be a real person because they will be sending you real money when you make sales and if you are creating a shopify store, i am guessing that you do want to get paid when you make sales. so enter all of this information and then we will proceed on to making your shop. here is the online store. this is going to be the back end of your store, so this is going to be where you manage everything about your shop. so shopify basically works by having a front end and a back end. so if you click up here, you will be able to go to your backend admin anytime, and then, if you want to see your shop, you can just click down here and then click the little i. so it will take you to see what your shop looks like, and when you get started, you're going to have this default shop. so they have all of the building blocks and you can kind of see what your shop might look like if you use what they have already laid out for you and just put in your own images and your own items and text and make it your own shop. so this is kind of what you get started with and we are going to go ahead and edit what it actually looks like. so when we go to the admin home page, your backend or admin section, you're going to see that you can do a lot of different things. so on this left hand side, this little navigation, we have all of the back end stuff you're going to need to run your business and run your shop. so first we have orders and then in the orders. so once you have orders coming in, this will all fill in or you can actually create an order. if you are selling or adding things in or if you're migrating from a different shop, you can add in the order details here just so that you have it. and you have some of your customer base already, so you also will have some abandoned checkouts information. so this is where people put things in a cart and they abandon the process and you will have info here on that. then we are going to look at your product section and i will show you how to add a product in a couple of minutes. but i just wanted to run through all of the different things in this left-handed nav so you know what everything is. so all of your products will be there and this will be your inventory, where you see stok. if you're selling digital downloads, which is what i do, then you probably won't ever have to really worry about this, because you can basically set them to just keep selling forever. but if you sell physical products, you are going to want to keep an eye on your inventory and how much you have of each product. this is the area for your purchase orders and you get to manage when you get inventory from your suppliers. if you are not creating your own products by hand or with a digital product, you will have to do this for your products. so this is very useful for any stores with physical merchandise and then, if you do inventory transfers, that can be. that is here- and then collections is very useful to make groupings of your products so you can create a collection once you have some products and then group them together so that it's easier for your customer to figure out where stuff is and what stuff is. and then, under products, you will actually be able to manage gift cards, which personally i thought. personally i thought um, gift cards would be in a different spot in shopify, but it is under product. so if you are creating a gift card, you can create that here to give to customers who buy those from you. so customers is the next section and you can import all of your customers up here. if you just click import, you can get a csv file and you can download that from whatever platform you've been selling on. personally, i moved from etsy, so i just downloaded the csv of my customers and uploaded. it is very easy and then you can have all of your customers listed already. or, if you want to do it manually, if you don't have that many customers, you can, or you have been keeping physical like handwritten notes or something- you can add your customers here and put all of the information in the system for them and you'll see them all in the customer tab in the back end. so next, the one thing that shopify does really, really well that a lot of others don't are: they have these analytiks in this dashboard and you can see literally everything basically in one page. right now, because we don't have any products or sales, there's not a lot going on, but, as you can see, you can see your total sales, your store sessions, your returning customer rate, your conversion rate, your order average. so much in one dashboard. it's really really useful. and then, of course, you can make new reports of almost anything. they have this create custom report up here and you can do all sorts of custom reports. but you can also pull sales reports, acquisition reports, your profit margin- all the things that are really important for you to actually run and grow a store are under this report section, under analytiks. and then there is a live view so you can see where people are on your shop all over the us or the world. of course, i am the only- i'm the only one here, so you see my pen there from the united states, but that is just an interesting thing and it gives you a little bit of customer behavior information. then, under marketing, you have so many useful things. the great thing about working on shopify is that it's your own store on your own website and you are able to control everything. but the downside is that no one is going to bring you traffic except you, so you have to make your marketing work for you. but they give you a lot of tools to make it work. as you can see, they now have shopify email, which is not something that they had previously, but you can create campaigns and do shopify emails. they also, of course, have ads and they have ad marketing stuff built in, and then they have all of these different apps. whatever platform you're focusing on social media wise for promotion, you can probably find a marketing app for that. there is a whole different store with shopify apps that you can add to your shop. it's free to install for almost all of them. honestly, there are so many, so you can make different marketing campaigns here and then set up certain automations if you are going to try to, for example, get sales that you had from people who abandoned their cart. so that is a pretty common first one that you can do. then, down here at the bottom, we have discounts so you can create discount codes if you have a newsletter and want to give your newsletter a discount code, or if you have anything like that. or you can do and automate the discount in your shop. so if people add six products and you give them a discount, or three products and you get a five percent discount or something like that, you can do that under automatik discounts, under discounts and the

but it's important to know there's no such thing as truly passive income. any product you sell is going to take some work somewhere along the line. at this point. i've sold somewhere close to a thousand digital products, from wall art to full-on online courses, and i've learned a thing or two about how to make them as passive as possible. in today's video, i'm going to walk you through my five top tips to make selling digital products easy, breezy and close to truly passive. if you're as excited for today's video as i am, don't forget to subscribe to my channel to make sure you're first on the list to find out when new videos go live every tuesday. before we deep dive into my five top tips, i want to take a second just to tok about what a digital download is. i'm assuming you're familiar, but just in case, a digital download is any kind of product. you create it once, you attach it or give it a home somewhere and then you send it to a customer every time they buy. it's not a product you make with your hands. it's not a product you ship to their home. it could be an ebook, a pdf, a fancy checklist, a full-on course, a wall art print, a set of wall art prints. there are so many different kinds of digital downloads you can create, and the fact that selling them is mostly passive once you're done with the creation part makes them really appealing and a really great way to add an extra stream of income to your shop without adding a ton of workload to your plate. all right, so without further ado, let's jump into my five top tips. tip number one: make sure it is very, very clear in your listing your product title in the photos you're taking, that what you're selling is a digital download. as much as i would like to tell you that customers are really good at reading the fine print, they're not think about how often you shop online. do you read every single word on the page? my guess is you don't, unless you're a super, super informed consumer, and you are rare. so make sure you're putting the fact that it's a digital download in the product title, if possible, in multiple places within the product description. if you can, it's also great to add some sort of call out on at least one of the product images to give somebody who's more visual and maybe doesn't skim through the details on the product listing, another indicator that this is a digital download. our goal is to try to avoid people looking at your listing not realizing it's a digital download, purchasing it and then waiting and waiting and waiting to see a package arrive in the mail that's not coming because you already shipped them whatever it was they bought, whether it was a wall art print or an ebook, and it's probably hanging out in their email right now and they just haven't opened it yet. so as you're building out your listing, as you're taking your product photos, make sure to be thinking about the different places you can include the fact that this is digital and then maybe add one more tip number two: find a way to add sizing details. this one is especially helpful if what you're selling is wall art, um. so that might mean laying out a sample picture next to something that your customer might have in their home so they can compare the size. it might mean including a mock-up of, like, a grown-up holding the book or the wall art print, something to help them, so they can visualize the true scale of what it is they're getting and what they'd be able to print. if this is, for example, a piece of art they could hang in their room and then print out on their computer, what does that look like? what is that sizing? so make sure you're including any of those details in the listing so that it's super clear for your customers when they're making decisions about whether or not, whether or not they're going to buy next up. it can be really tempting with digital downloads to just include like a flat picture of whatever it is. you know, a couple of pages of the book or, um, a flat picture of the wall art print that you're going to give them. but you need to help your customer really bring it to life. it's not going to feel very inviting or exciting to just look at like a flat pdf style sheet of a pic, a page within your book. so if you're not familiar, there are these things called mock-ups. they're really amazing. it's spelled m-o-c-k-u-p-s to make it plural. you can find them on etsy. you can find them on creative market, but there are some awesome graphic designers out there and photographers who have taken pictures of actual books, um, actual wall art hanging on walls and you can drop your image. your book cover, a couple of sample pages, whatever it is. same thing goes for online courses. there are mock-ups with computers, ipads, um any kind of like device that you might look at a course on. if you've been to any of my pages for the launcher shopkin or for pricing, for profitability, you've seen one of those where i show the different computer screens and the different pieces of the different kits and courses. those are so helpful for your customers to be able to really understand what it is they're getting right. a flat picture, a flat image of a book page doesn't bring it to life in the same way. you know that you can't touch and feel it and somehow that's just less entiking. so i encourage you to find ways to bring your digital product to life so that your customer really understands that while they're buying something online that's digital, that they're going to download or read from their computer, it's really going to enhance their life and add a lot of value, and being able to see it in some sort of physical sense can really help with that. tip. number four: take a second. as you're building out this product, think about all of the different questions your customers might ask about how to actually use it once they buy it. so if it's an ebook, can you give them tips on how to print it successfully, or can you walk them through how to open it in adobe pdf? for you and i, those things might be obvious because we do it all the time right, this is part of our daily business. for a customer, this might be the first time they've ever had to open a pdf. it might be the first time they've ever tried to print an ebook. so really go back to the basics. what does someone need to know to be able to use whatever it is you're trying to sell digitally really effectively? there are a couple of different ways you can share that information. so, depending on the questions you think somebody's gonna ask, it might make a great blog post and then you can link up to that blog post within your product description or make it one of the emails you include in your welcome series. try to answer those questions right up front. show your customers that you really want to make sure that they have a superior experience when they shop with you and make sure that they're getting all the answers they need quickly and in a timely fashion. the other place you could consider including it if it doesn't make sense to have a blog post, or maybe you're just not quite in the mood to write a blog post. to totally get it, um, add those frequently asked questions to your thank you email after they purchase, right, lead with that. i'm so happy that you supported me. thank you so much for completing your purchase. and then- and here are some questions we get often- i want to make sure that you understand all the details of your beautiful new ebook or your beautiful new waller print, and then you can list out each question individually with the answers below, link them to any resources they might need. and then, last but not least, you want to find a way to automate, automate, automate as much of the process as possible. shopify makes that super simple. they have an.
