How to Connect Your Domain to Shopify 2021 | Quick Shopify Tips 2021

having a custom domain really gives your site credibility instead of having the myshopifycom in the url. so in this video, i'm going to show you exactly how to set that up easily in under five minutes for your shopify store. having a custom domain makes it really easy to share about your products online. plus, it helps influence your branding because you can actually put your brand name in your url. so i want to show you really quickly how to set up a custom domain for your shopify store. you have two different options. you can either buy a domain through shopify or, if you've already purchased a domain with another provider, like godaddy or bluehost, you can connect that domain in. so you're going to get to this area in the shopify backend by going to your online store and then into domains. so now we can see the options to either buy a new domain, so you can buy this through shopify and just click in here to actually go through the process of purchasing this through shopify, or you can do connect existing domain. we have just our default myshopifycom domain now, so let's go ahead and do connect existing domain. so now we're going to type in our domain that we want to connect to this shopify store. so now that we've got our domain in, it's showing that it knows our host is bluehost, which is correct. you may also have your provider name show up here, or it may not know exactly who your provider is, but it'll show specific instructions there. so you also may get the option if you have a platform like godaddy, where you can connect automatikally by just logging into your godaddy account. so if that's the case and you see connect automatikally, you can just go ahead and click that there, log into your godaddy account, and it's a little bit faster to set that up. however, we don't have those options with our domain provider, which is bluehost, so we have to add in the information manually. so we can just click on this view bluehost instructions to get the exact things that we need to add in. so if we scroll down this page here, we can then see the different things that we need to add in. so now in this connect your domain manually section, you can see the different information that we need to add in. so first we need to add in this a record. so i'm just going to copy this number right here and then i'm going to go to my bluehost account and go into the dns settings. so now i'm in my dns manager of my bluehost account and you can see this a host and this at symbol host record. so this is what we want to edit for this first field. so you can see here it's a different number. so i'm just going to click on this to edit and i'm going to paste in what i've copied there and hit save. okay, so now that's updated. however, it does show that it can take up to four hours to actually fully transfer over. the next thing that we need to do is we need to edit our cname record so that way, if someone was to type in the www version, that it'll pull into the shopify store as well. so let's go back to the shopify documentation and you can see here we need to have this to go to shopsmyshopifycom. so i'm just going to copy that and go back to bluehost and again, i'm just going to click on this. next to the www, click edit. i'm going to paste it into this points to field and hit save. now our information is added in both for the a record and for the cname record, so we should be good to go. so if we go back to our shopify store, you can now hit verify connection. now it does take some time again. my hosting provider said it could take up to four hours. so it may not actually verify the connection right away. but let's go ahead and just click on this and see. so you can see here that we have this, where it's not showing up just yet, but it says again that it may take a few minutes for them to update their settings. so you can always just sit here on this page, come back to it a little bit later and hit this verify again and then it should show up correctly. so i'm going to go ahead and just click this add domain button and this way it'll add it into our shopify store and we can just get notified whenever that actually pulls in. so you can see here it says not connected. but we can retry that connection and it'll automatikally update once it is ready. so i gave it about 30 minutes and then you can see it pulled in and it is now showing is connected with my ssl certificate pending. so now what we could do is we could actually change this to be our primary domain. so to do that, we'll just click on change primary domain and we can choose the domain from here. so i always like to go with the non-ww version, just because it's a little bit cleaner and it's faster to type in. but we can hit save from here and we can see: now this is set up as our primary domain, so we can now see that this is our primary domain and all of our traffic is going to be redirected here. you could add in multiple different domains. if you had that were all going to connect to the same shopify store and then just choose which primary domain you want to be the main one to redirect all the traffic to. so that way, if you had multiple- let's say, misspellings of your domain purchased, you could add all those in and then just have them all redirect to this primary domain that you have. so i hope you found this shopify quick tips video very helpful. we've got an entire playlist of more five minute tutorial videos just like this, all about shopify and how to grow your online store. so make sure to check out that playlist and, How to Connect or Point Namecheap Domain to Shopify 2022

hello everybody. this is ani from the learning class. welcome back to the channel. uh, today is a very, very short video, uh, it's on how to connect your domain name, uh, to your shopify store. so today's tutorial is with namecheck uh, which is one of the most popular uh domain providers. uh, they are really cheap and it's like eight bucks or something for a year. uh, so, yeah, you know, uh, i would definitely recommend you guys to buy a domain from namechip uh and, yeah, the process to connect your shopify store to namecheap is pretty straightforward. so let's uh dive into it. but before that, please do all the good stuff. please like, subscribe, share all of that. yeah, we are pretty new, so we'll appreciate that. okay, so let's get into it. so, if you see, this is my shopify store. that's the shopify domain name: faith and destiny. so that's the name of the store. let's go to my namecheap account- that's my namechek account- and let's just look for the domain name. so i'll go to domain list. i'm just going to type in faith. so here it is. so you click manage in your name chip and then, once you click manage, you're going to see something like this: so we need to click on advanced dns. so when you click advanced dns, this is the page that will open up. so we basically are just concerned with this area over here, okay, so the first thing that you have to remember is it should be cname, record, www, and then you see this here. so this one has to be changed, okay. so we go back to our store and then just copy this. okay, make sure you don't need the admin or the slash or https, none of those, okay? so then you just come here and paste it. if there is something else, like you know, if you see, if i put the whole thing here, you see what's going to happen. you see, it gives me a red thing. so it's not right. so we just need faithanddestinymyshopifycom, and that's it. so then, here you got the the time. uh, just click one minute and then click this little arrow. so it's just gonna save, okay, great. and then you need another entry. another entry is: you just click here, add new record, and then the very first one, a record, click that, okay, under host, you just have at, and then, in value, you just put this value in. that's it, okay. and then you click here, click one minute, and then you save again. so we are all set up with uh name chip. now, uh, i'm just gonna copy the domain. go back to my shopify store, go to settings, yeah, look for domains, so domains. it says connect existing domain. so we're just gonna connect existing domain. just paste, do. next you verify connection [Music]. so this will just take about a few seconds. so, as you can see, it's now connected. however, you're gonna see a small message here: ssl pending. now shopify offers a free ssl, so don't worry about it. after about two or three minutes this will just go away and everything will be good to go, okay. so you can just refresh it sometime. it's immediate. sometimes it's just takes like two, three minutes or five minutes. but yeah, once you're connected, it's all good to go, okay. so now you can close this box. you can click this little i icon over here and this will straight away take you to the front of the website. so, as you can see, it says faithanddestincom. so the domain is connected. obviously, we are just still waiting for the ssl to come through, so let's just refresh it, yeah, yeah, i wouldn't worry too much about it. as i said, it just takes a couple of minutes for it to come through and then should be all good to go. [Music]. so yeah, so anyways, uh, that was pretty much uh how you connect your name chip domain name to your shopify store. pretty easy peasy. and thank you guys for watching. i really appreciate your thumbs up and, uh, see you guys in the next video. bye now.

Connect Domain.com to Shopify

[Music]. today i have another business tip for you. last video i toked about how i use the shopify platform for my e-commerce- my website, my business- and today i'm going to be toking about how i use my own website through domaincom and connected my shopify store to domaincom. now shopify has instructions on how to integrate a pre-existing domain address to your shopify store, and it works really well if you have something from google, from godaddy, from one and one from ions. but if you have what they consider to be a third-party domain source, like domaincom, you have to input things manually. today i'm going to share with you how you do that on domaincom and how to get it to sync with shopify. all right, guys, let's just jump right on in. there are a few different ways in which shopify can integrate your domain address into their platform. they suggest that you go through google domains or godaddy, or one on one or ions, so that they can automatikally just pull it in. it's super easy, they have contracts and it just works out best for them. i personally have always used domaincom to buy my domain addresses. that's just the platform that i've chosen to use, and so you have to add in the settings manually in order to connect your domain address to your shopify store, and today i'm going to show you how to do that. i'm going to link this page in the description, but there is a page with instructions on how to connect the third-party domain to your shopify manually. now there are many things in this page that may seem daunting or confusing, but i'm going to walk you through and it shouldn't be too scary. so the first step is: before you begin, go ahead and go to your third party domain host and you need to change some dns records. now this may seem like complete jibber-jabber and you have no idea what a dns record is. that's okay. let me just say that if you need to contact them directly, they were very helpful to me, both domaincom and shopify- to help me get the instructions that i need, and they were able to help me with this task. if you want to do it completely manually, you can do that as well. so let's do it manually and then you can call if you need extra help. but this is how you do it really fast. the first thing they ask you to do is change the dns record in your third-party domain provider. the first record that we're going to change is the a record. i'm going to go over here to mydomaincom, and on yourdomaincom on the left hand side there is a place called dns and name servers. click on that and you will have three different tabs. we're only going to be dealing with the first two tabs. the first one you want to look at is your name servers. these should be auto populated in your domaincom name servers, but just to check to see if they exist, pause the video if you need to add them. but there should be the ns2 and the ns1 domaincom and if you need to add them, just click on add name servers and then you can add them here. where we are going to spend most of our time is in the dns records. so this page may look completely daunting, but just bear with me, it's not that scary. there are three records in which we need to add. we need to add these three records right here. this is the a record, the at the, a record at www and the a record at astrix, and what we're going to be doing is we're going to be filling them in with shopify's web platforms, ipa, which is 23.227.38.65. the way in which you do that is you would click on add dns record and then you would click on the name, the type- let's say it's an egg record. we're going to type in the ip address. this is what your first a record should look like. you got your a record, which is here. you got your at symbol and then your ip address, 23.227.38.65. you do not need to add anything to time to live, that will just happen automatikally. and then priority is in a, because my record already exists. i can't add it, but this is where you just had add dns. so you would do that for the a record, do it for the www record and do it for the asterix record. so you want to make sure that you have all three records. once you have those three records, the next thing you want to do is go to the second one, which is the cname record. now, according to shopify, you want to just make this. you have a single record to input. you want to be www at shopsmyshopifycom. let's back over to domaincom. again. you just click on add dns record, put cname wwwshopsmyshopifycom, click save and everything else is happy. now this will take a couple of hours to propagate, but once it does propagate, here's what we do. come over to your shopify store and in the settings tab there is on the left a place called domains. this is where you would connect an existing domain. so we would type in tennessee, roughcutscom, click next- mine is already connected. so it would just go through this process where it says checking, verify. mine took about 18 hours for it to propagate, but after it did it verified the address and then when i actually click on tennesseeruffcutscom, it brings me to my real website and it says tennesseeruffcutscom and not like shopifyshopstennessee, because this is my ip address. if you have any trouble getting your records in place or just seems daunting, call domaincom. they do this all the time. they will happily help you get your records in place. but i found it a little daunting, a little confusing to start off with because the instructions weren't super clear on how to actually get everything connected and it wasn't propagating properly. but, like i said, you got four records to input. it's not that scary. if you have any trouble, just pause the video, go back, call domaincom and they'll be able to get you fixed up. well, there you have it, my friends. hopefully that was helpful on how to connect yourdomaincom web address to your shopify store so that you can have your custom domain there connected, present and ready for more business. again, i just want to say: don't be concerned if it doesn't happen right away. it took mine about 18 hours to propagate fully in order for the sync to happen. if it takes more than 24 hours, i would give domaincom a call. make sure that all of your records that you inputted are correct and just check everything over once again. if this makes sense to you and you're able to get your domain address to connect with your shopify store, congratulations. you are just one step closer to creating your online business. i'm proud of you and link your website down in the description. i would love to see what you guys have come up with- your web addresses, your web platforms and see what you come up with. but thank you so much for joining in today and hopefully it was helpful. i'll have to catch you next time. How to Connect your Domain to your Shopify Store

[Music]. [Applause]. [Music]. thank you, hi. I'm Elle McCann from Curious themes web development studio in Nashville, Tennessee, and in this video tutorial, we are going to go through the steps of connecting your domain to your custom Shopify site. so doing this in turn launches the site and puts it live out to the world. so this is the very last step that you want to do, but let's go ahead and get started with how to connect everything. so right here you can see, I'm in the back end of my Shopify store and I am under online store and then domains. so what I'm launching here is for a new business called tomofit. I've created a custom coming soon page, which you can see here, and so I'm going to now connect the domain. this isn't going to be launching until June 1st. however, I want to go ahead and start driving some traffic with Facebook ads as well as getting some email signups. so I want to go ahead and connect the domain now and go ahead and push this out there so I can start doing that marketing. and just a little side note: if you would love to see kind of a behind the scenes of how I launch a business and grow the sales, definitely sign up for the email newsletter because I'm going to be sharing all the behind the scenes access of how I grow business, sharing the the actual Facebook ads that I'm running, my conversions and traffic numbers, my strategies every month, of what my goals are, of how to keep growing the business. so if you like some of that behind the scenes access, definitely go over and sign up at tomofitcom. but before I say that, we've got to launchtelofitcom, so we're going to go back here to the Shopify store now, if you do go to domains- and you're not seeing this here, like I'm seeing the connector bio domain and that means you probably need to actually upgrade your plan and actually purchase one of the monthly Shopify plans. that's the only way that you're able to add a domain to your store. so once you go through and select which plan is best for you, then you can go in and you'll see the screen that I'm seeing now, which will let you connect the domain. so I have already purchased the domain with another provider called Bluehost, so I'm going to come up here to connect existing domain. you can, however, if you haven't purchased the domain yet, purchase that from Shopify by clicking the buy new domain button. so I'm going to go ahead and click the connect existing domain and I'm going to put in the domain that I have, which is tomofitcom, and hit next foreign prompt me on how to set everything up. so we are not going to verify it yet, because we have it connected it. so I'm going to go to follow the Bluehost instructions now. if you have GoDaddy as your service provider, um, you actually have the option to log into your GoDaddy account and instantly connect it up, which is really nice. however, if you don't have GoDaddy, you are going to have to follow these steps and this is going to be the same. it varies a little bit with each provider. however, the same process of editing your DNS Zone editor and your records is going to be the same. so here it gives the instructions and I really just want to go to this in terms of the actual IP address to put in. so I'm going to now go to the back end of my Bluehost account and this is the DNS Zone editor. so you're going to log into wherever you've purchased your domain and it'll be either called the DNS Zone editor or manage DNS records. so it's typically found under a domains area, and then you'll see one of those things associated with your domain, so with Bluehost it's called DNS Zone editor. so here you can see that we have the domain as tomofitcom. so that's the one I want to change and you can add additional records. however, we want to go ahead and change what the records already are, to go ahead and get that pointed over. so the first that we're going to change is the a record, which you can see here with the at symbol. we're going to click edit and what we're going to change is this what it points to. I'm going to go back to the instructions that they gave and I'm going to copy this number right here. this is shopify's IP address that we have to connect it to to get it to show up. so I'm going to paste that in and hit save. and then the last one that we want to edit is the www record. so this, the cname record, that's the www that'll show. if someone types in the wwwtomofitcom, it'll redirect correctly. so I'm going to come back to this original document and come down here and I am going to just verify that it is going to be the my shopifycom. so how you get this, it's actually your business name. so back in the back end of Shopify. you'll see up in the URL bar. mine is total Dash, fitmyshopifycom, so I'm going to copy that and that's also what you're seeing now whenever I go to the front end of the store. it's all of this right here. so this is what we want to copy and I'm going to come in here and I'm going to paste it and hit save. now just to let you know. a lot of times this does take about, you know, one to two hours. sometimes it can take a little longer. on average, I've notiked that it does go pretty quickly. however, just be a little bit patient with that, just to make sure that everything goes through. and that's all you need to do with your DNS Zone editor. now that we've saved it, and after you wait an hour or two, you would come back and you'd hit the verify connection and that will actually show if you've connected or not. um, let's see. this might actually show that it's coming through. awesome, wow, I said an hour or two, but that was like a minute or two. um, so you can see. now that it's showing up here, you can add additional domains. so, for example, I also bought tomofit apparelcom, um, and so I'll also go in and add that as well, so that either one that someone enters will go through, and right here is where you have the set primary domain. so, for example, if once I add the tomofit apparelcom, it would show up here and I would be able to select which one I wanted it to be. so I want to have tomofitcom and I want to redirect all traffic to this domain. so I'm going to keep that checked and then, as soon as we go back to the front end of the store, I'm going to refresh this and you can see instantly. this changes now to tomofitcom. so now our new domain is ready to use. start sharing with the world and, yeah, this essentially launches your site. so the last step would just be to make sure that you've removed your password in terms of launching your site, and I'm going to take you that real quick. so, again, we're under the online store and now I'm going to go to preferences and you can tell if the password's enabled right here with this enable password page. if you have this checked and you want to officially launch your store with your new domain, make sure you uncheck that and that will automatikally push it out there. now, again, keep in mind that, in terms of showing up your site showing up in the search engines. it does typically take about two weeks, based on how long it takes for Google and the other search engines to crawl your website. so don't think that as soon as you want your site, it's instantly going to be searched in Google. give it some time, just wait a little bit on that one. but you can go ahead and start sharing, because now your domain is live and connected to your store, so you can do a lot of social media and go and start doing some ad campaign- awesome. well, I hope you found this tutorial helpful and remember to head over to tomofitcom to get some behind the scene access of how I'm launching this new business. [Music]. [Music]. [Music]. thank you. [Music].
