00:00:34 00:00:37 turn a notification about on guys so
00:00:36 00:00:40 you're notified every single day when
00:00:37 00:00:43 new videos come out today I'm going to
00:00:40 00:00:45 tok a little bit about more versus the
00:00:43 00:00:46 general Burson niche stores because so
00:00:45 00:00:48 many of the coaching students that come
00:00:46 00:00:50 to me or people that are inside
00:00:48 00:00:51 six-figure funnels they're always like I
00:00:50 00:00:53 just don't have a general store Pete I
00:00:51 00:00:54 want to sell a bunch of good products
00:00:53 00:00:56 out there I want to sell fidgets
00:00:54 00:00:58 spinners I want to sell yo-yos I want to
00:00:56 00:00:59 sell a bunch of products that people are
00:00:58 00:01:01 already out there buying and I just
00:00:59 00:01:02 wanna have my store full of all these
00:01:01 00:01:04 products so I can always constantly be
00:01:02 00:01:07 sending different kinds of traffic to
00:01:04 00:01:09 and as you guys know I always recommend
00:01:07 00:01:11 niching it down you have to be niche
00:01:09 00:01:14 down so here are gonna be my top three
00:01:11 00:01:15 reasons why you absolutely need to be
00:01:14 00:01:17 niche down and a lot of these I haven't
00:01:15 00:01:20 discussed that much before but I really
00:01:17 00:01:21 want to hit up them in this video so I
00:01:20 00:01:25 just have my little notes here so if you
00:01:21 00:01:27 see me looking down that's why so guys
00:01:25 00:01:29 the reason you don't to be a general
00:01:27 00:01:31 store right is because you're going to
00:01:29 00:01:33 be trying to compete and compete against
00:01:31 00:01:36 the Walmarts and the Amazons how do you
00:01:33 00:01:38 expect to beat a Walmart Amazon where
00:01:36 00:01:42 those people right or those companies
00:01:38 00:01:45 right have basically an unlimited budget
00:01:42 00:01:47 bit a marketing budget unlimited you on
00:01:45 00:01:48 the other hand if you're just starting
00:01:47 00:01:50 out in e-commerce or even aren't
00:01:48 00:01:53 ecommerce business owner of the general
00:01:50 00:01:55 store how are you going to be able to
00:01:53 00:01:58 market enough to be able to bring in
00:01:55 00:01:59 that wide range of customers think about
00:01:58 00:02:01 that because when you have a general
00:01:59 00:02:03 store you're trying to cast a huge net
00:02:01 00:02:07 and try to capture basically everybody
00:02:03 00:02:10 you're not really focused on one market
00:02:07 00:02:12 right you're casting a whole net because
00:02:10 00:02:14 you have products for everybody
00:02:12 00:02:15 how would that work for you that's not
00:02:14 00:02:17 gonna really work right how will your
00:02:15 00:02:19 email marketing work how will how all of
00:02:17 00:02:20 your marketing messaging work how will
00:02:19 00:02:23 your social media work when you're
00:02:20 00:02:25 trying to market like dozens of products
00:02:23 00:02:27 right the only general store I kind of
00:02:25 00:02:29 it's not even really a general store
00:02:27 00:02:30 that I kind of like that I've seen in
00:02:29 00:02:32 the past is like those kitchen gadgets
00:02:30 00:02:35 right but even that's niche down it's
00:02:32 00:02:38 specifically targeting kitchen gadgets
00:02:35 00:02:39 right like the little watermelon slicer
00:02:38 00:02:42 or the little garlic crushing thing
00:02:39 00:02:44 right those work those are great that's
00:02:42 00:02:45 a niche down already but if you're
00:02:44 00:02:47 trying to sell all that stuff plus
00:02:45 00:02:48 yourself idiot spinners and your surplus
00:02:47 00:02:50 your song all these other random
00:02:48 00:02:52 products you don't have the marketing
00:02:50 00:02:54 budget you don't have enough money out
00:02:52 00:02:56 there to be able to market your your
00:02:54 00:02:58 ecommerce store in a way that can
00:02:56 00:02:59 compete against the Walmart so the
00:02:58 00:03:02 Amazon I try to capture an entire
00:02:59 00:03:05 country right you just don't have the
00:03:02 00:03:07 budget so that's number one guys you
00:03:05 00:03:10 can't compete against a Walmart and
00:03:07 00:03:13 Amazon your marketing budget is way too
00:03:10 00:03:16 low to do that okay guys number two is
00:03:13 00:03:17 you cannot target your ideal customer
00:03:16 00:03:20 and this kind of goes off goes off of
00:03:17 00:03:23 number one all right you can't target
00:03:20 00:03:25 your ideal and perfect customer think
00:03:23 00:03:27 about it if you are a general store how
00:03:25 00:03:30 are you going to be able to say hey you
00:03:27 00:03:34 know what I am targeting people that
00:03:30 00:03:37 specifically were born in the 90s that
00:03:34 00:03:40 you know like to play with yo-yos or
00:03:37 00:03:43 whatever or very specific things like a
00:03:40 00:03:46 certain type of yoga or a specific type
00:03:43 00:03:47 of like a mountain biking right how are
00:03:46 00:03:49 you gonna be able to tok to an audience
00:03:47 00:03:51 like that right that's what you you need
00:03:49 00:03:53 to be able to you need to find that
00:03:51 00:03:55 niche that I tell you guys all the time
00:03:53 00:03:57 look for example one of my coaching
00:03:55 00:03:59 students she's a retiree older woman it
00:03:57 00:04:00 took a while to find what she was
00:03:59 00:04:03 actually passionate about but eventually
00:04:00 00:04:06 we found out that she loves crocheting
00:04:03 00:04:08 or sewing right she makes like like
00:04:06 00:04:11 blankets and like pillowcases and all
00:04:08 00:04:13 that stuff right so we created a
00:04:11 00:04:14 products around her like sewing needle
00:04:13 00:04:16 kids and all that stuff and now she's
00:04:14 00:04:18 plug and playing that into sales funnels
00:04:16 00:04:19 and killing it all right she niche now
00:04:18 00:04:21 so you found her market she's like
00:04:19 00:04:23 crocheting or whatever it's called I
00:04:21 00:04:24 think it's called crocheting hey that's
00:04:23 00:04:26 her market she
00:04:24 00:04:28 that's her market and Jessica you have
00:04:26 00:04:31 to do alright because it goes back to
00:04:28 00:04:33 number one think of if she my coaching
00:04:31 00:04:35 students in like the sewing niche if she
00:04:33 00:04:37 was trying to appeal to everybody she
00:04:35 00:04:39 wouldn't have enough money to do that
00:04:37 00:04:41 she wouldn't have enough money but now
00:04:39 00:04:43 that she knows okay she's targeting
00:04:41 00:04:45 older women in the sewing niche right
00:04:43 00:04:48 people like her because she's her own
00:04:45 00:04:51 customer right her ad dollars every ad
00:04:48 00:04:54 dollar she spends she it's gonna be a
00:04:51 00:04:56 lot she prefer to acquire somebody
00:04:54 00:04:59 alright and that person is typically
00:04:56 00:05:01 going to be and the exact person that
00:04:59 00:05:03 she wants in her business not some like
00:05:01 00:05:04 like she's starting older people that
00:05:03 00:05:07 are interested in sewing not like a
00:05:04 00:05:09 teenager that has no interest in sewing
00:05:07 00:05:11 all right you're not wasting ad dollars
00:05:09 00:05:13 on somebody like that right casting that
00:05:11 00:05:15 wide net if you have a general store it
00:05:13 00:05:17 makes no sense you can't you want it
00:05:15 00:05:19 especially if you're starting out you
00:05:17 00:05:21 need to be efficient with your spending
00:05:19 00:05:23 and this is how it's done you have to
00:05:21 00:05:25 pick a target market and you have to
00:05:23 00:05:28 pick a perfect customer that you want to
00:05:25 00:05:31 target as best as you humanly can okay
00:05:28 00:05:33 so for example if you guys are in like
00:05:31 00:05:37 yoga right niche it down a little bit
00:05:33 00:05:38 more than just yoga do like like I don't
00:05:37 00:05:40 really know yoga that well but I know
00:05:38 00:05:42 there's like the style of yoga where
00:05:40 00:05:42 they're like in a hot room or something
00:05:42 00:05:44 like that
00:05:42 00:05:47 so niche your store down to be like I do
00:05:44 00:05:49 hot yoga my store specializes in hot
00:05:47 00:05:51 yoga products right even though the
00:05:49 00:05:53 products of right all the same but it's
00:05:51 00:05:55 the marketing guys that's what the
00:05:53 00:05:57 business is it's the marketing so you
00:05:55 00:05:59 have to market it as you are
00:05:57 00:06:03 the expert you are the business to go to
00:05:59 00:06:05 if you are in hot yoga okay so but again
00:06:03 00:06:09 guys don't go too crazy when you're
00:06:05 00:06:12 niching down because you don't to get
00:06:09 00:06:17 into like like super niche niche doubt
00:06:12 00:06:19 like for example like well underwater
00:06:17 00:06:21 basket-weaving is like the most common
00:06:19 00:06:23 example like people it's like make
00:06:21 00:06:25 baskets underwater like that look
00:06:23 00:06:26 obviously like is a very small niche
00:06:25 00:06:28 even though so many people are toking
00:06:26 00:06:29 about it and using that as an example
00:06:28 00:06:31 that there's probably an interest in it
00:06:29 00:06:33 now but you get the point guys don't go
00:06:31 00:06:35 don't let yourself to down where you
00:06:33 00:06:37 there's not enough
00:06:35 00:06:39 not enough size of the audience there
00:06:37 00:06:40 and you could tell this by you know is
00:06:39 00:06:43 there magazines in the niche that you've
00:06:40 00:06:44 picked is there you know facebook pages
00:06:43 00:06:46 out there influencers and then that you
00:06:44 00:06:48 think if those things are there that
00:06:46 00:06:51 typically means you're in the clear your
00:06:48 00:06:55 niche is fine alright guys so number
00:06:51 00:06:59 three is you won't be able to market
00:06:55 00:07:01 your products uniqueness right sirs be
00:06:59 00:07:03 you when you will have a general store
00:07:01 00:07:04 you're kind of just marketing all your
00:07:03 00:07:06 products the same way you're just trying
00:07:04 00:07:07 to make quick sales you're competing on
00:07:06 00:07:10 price which is the absolute worst thing
00:07:07 00:07:12 you could possibly ever do right when
00:07:10 00:07:13 you are niched down to a specific store
00:07:12 00:07:17 you don't have to compete on price
00:07:13 00:07:19 anymore right because you can now sell
00:07:17 00:07:22 the actual product you can market the
00:07:19 00:07:23 product better right in a general store
00:07:22 00:07:25 you can't really do that because you're
00:07:23 00:07:28 not a specialty shop when you're a
00:07:25 00:07:31 specialty shop like in hot yoga you can
00:07:28 00:07:33 really push the benefits and features of
00:07:31 00:07:36 let's say this hot yoga mat or something
00:07:33 00:07:39 like that right and people will trust
00:07:36 00:07:41 you because this is a hot yoga
00:07:39 00:07:43 specialty store okay and you can really
00:07:41 00:07:45 market that uniqueness of the product
00:07:43 00:07:48 and you don't have to compete on price
00:07:45 00:07:49 like you would on a general store like a
00:07:48 00:07:52 Walmart Amazon what are they constantly
00:07:49 00:07:54 doing guys they're constantly battling
00:07:52 00:07:56 on prices who got to who has the best
00:07:54 00:07:57 best prices right who's got the lowest
00:07:56 00:07:59 price that's where people are going to
00:07:57 00:08:01 try and buy from you don't want to
00:07:59 00:08:05 compete on price you want to compete on
00:08:01 00:08:06 your actual uniqueness and you know of
00:08:05 00:08:08 your product and I'm not saying go
00:08:06 00:08:10 create a Shark Tank product that's
00:08:08 00:08:11 terrible no don't do that I'm saying how
00:08:10 00:08:14 you're marketing the product like oh
00:08:11 00:08:16 this is a hot yoga mat built for hot
00:08:14 00:08:18 yoga enthusiasts okay like that's what
00:08:16 00:08:21 I'm toking about taking good pictures
00:08:18 00:08:23 of that product really displaying the
00:08:21 00:08:26 benefits that your customer get of that
00:08:23 00:08:28 product and you can't do that guys when
00:08:26 00:08:29 you are a general store really the only
00:08:28 00:08:33 thing you're competing in a general
00:08:29 00:08:36 store is your price so guys those are my
00:08:33 00:08:38 top three right number one you know your
00:08:36 00:08:41 marketing is going to be severely
00:08:38 00:08:44 budgeted or your you don't have enough
00:08:41 00:08:45 of a budget to compete against a Walmart
00:08:44 00:08:47 Amazon if you're trying to go to a
00:08:45 00:08:49 general store you can't target your
00:08:47 00:08:51 ideal customer
00:08:49 00:08:55 if you're in a general store and three
00:08:51 00:08:57 you can't market the uniqueness and the
00:08:55 00:08:59 originality and the coolness factor of
00:08:57 00:09:02 your products if you are in a general
00:08:59 00:09:04 store guys and those are all things that
00:09:02 00:09:05 make successful e-commerce businesses
00:09:04 00:09:08 run so guys I hope this video was
00:09:05 00:09:11 helpful for you guys please like comment
