Liquid has similarities to traditional web-centric programming languages, such as PHP and Ruby. We will explore the main features of liquid and how they relate to the Shopify platform.

What is Liquid?

Liquid is a template language used in Shopify themes. It is a language with common constructs, such as if-then-else statements, logic, filters, and loops. Liquid creates a bridge between the template files and a data store, in this case, the Shopify store. It allows constructs within the files to be replaced with data from the store when compiled on the Shopify platform. Liquid code can be functional and reused in future projects.

How Liquid Works:

When someone requests the URL of a Shopify store, the Shopify platform finds the active theme directory and the requested template file. Liquid placeholders with output and logic will be replaced with data relevant to the store. The placeholders will be replaced with HTML in the compiled template, which gets sent to the browser. The browser processes the HTML file and fetches all other required assets.

Features of Liquid:

- Delimiters: The double curly brace denotes output and the curly brace percentage denotes logic.

Hello everyone, good morning! Thank you for joining the webinar. My name is Josh Brown, and I work at Shopify with third-party Maps, Dollars Chocolate, and App Store. With over 15 different third-party solutions, we work with developers who are using the Java API to build products and offer the Chocolate App Store for merchants.

Today, we're going to be talking about one of my favorite parts of the Shopify platform, which is the point of sale. If you're not familiar with Shopify, it's a solution that retailers use to sell their products in person, accessible as events, and also in-store as well. You can use Shopify POS with an Android smartphone or an iPhone.

We're kind of looking at here will be like a typical set up this shop. You can integrate Chocolate POS with a variety of recorders, some of your seat printers, cash drawers, and lots of course card readers for accepting credit card data.
