00:02:03 00:02:05 experience than that so i have products

00:02:05 00:02:08 and we're going to tok about a store
00:02:07 00:02:09 that i had actually started myself and
00:02:08 00:02:11 just played around with
00:02:09 00:02:12 that did not work okay so make sure to

00:02:23 00:02:28 fair estimate of what i lost ouch yeah
00:02:27 00:02:29 whatever that's just kind of part of the
00:02:28 00:02:31 game as you're testing a product now
00:02:29 00:02:32 there's a slight difference between how
00:02:31 00:02:34 i teach
00:02:32 00:02:35 what i do versus what i actually do the
00:02:34 00:02:37 reason for that what i
00:02:35 00:02:38 teach as well as what we do for our
00:02:37 00:02:39 clients inside our agency when we're
00:02:38 00:02:41 starting from scratch
00:02:39 00:02:43 is a little bit of a lower budget more
00:02:41 00:02:44 efficient testing strategy so for an
00:02:43 00:02:45 example if you're inside the performance
00:02:44 00:02:46 dropshipping program
00:02:45 00:02:48 you'll see exactly how we start our ads
00:02:46 00:02:51 it's very cost efficient
00:02:48 00:02:52 you probably won't lose 610 testing a
00:02:51 00:02:54 product
00:02:52 00:02:56 however i have been doing this for a
00:02:54 00:02:58 long long time and i'm super comfortable
00:02:56 00:02:59 spending more money faster
00:02:58 00:03:01 just to get the process out of the way
00:02:59 00:03:02 quicker i'm comfortable with that i have
00:03:01 00:03:04 the budget for that
00:03:02 00:03:05 so you just have to kind of play it
00:03:04 00:03:07 based on your situation if you have a
00:03:05 00:03:08 much larger startup budget
00:03:07 00:03:10 and a couple thousand dollars is nothing
00:03:08 00:03:11 then that's fine you could accelerate
00:03:10 00:03:12 things launch more ads a little higher
00:03:11 00:03:14 budget ads
00:03:12 00:03:15 but just be aware of that you know it's
00:03:14 00:03:17 not always the best situation so
00:03:15 00:03:19 i lost 610 bucks this product i'm going
00:03:17 00:03:20 to show to you in a minute i was selling
00:03:19 00:03:22 for 19.99
00:03:20 00:03:24 i was confident i could eventually bump
00:03:22 00:03:25 that up to like 24.99 something like
00:03:24 00:03:28 that
00:03:25 00:03:29 but i did 700 in sales while spending in
00:03:28 00:03:32 total
00:03:29 00:03:34 about a thousand dollars on the ads okay
00:03:32 00:03:36 now when you factor in the product cost
00:03:34 00:03:38 plus the store fee for one month and
00:03:36 00:03:40 there's two apps that i was using that
00:03:38 00:03:42 had just expired on the free trial so
00:03:40 00:03:44 came out to whatever was like 65 bucks
00:03:42 00:03:45 for the store and app fee i lost about
00:03:44 00:03:47 600
00:03:45 00:03:49 which is totally cool right so off that
00:03:47 00:03:50 700 fulfilling the product which was
00:03:49 00:03:52 eight dollars we'll tok about all the
00:03:50 00:03:53 cost was eight dollars per product
00:03:52 00:03:55 um you can kind of do the math on
00:03:53 00:03:57 whatever that was selling it for 20. i
00:03:55 00:03:59 lost a little over 600 bucks
00:03:57 00:04:00 it's really not the end of the world now
00:03:59 00:04:02 what you might notike here
00:04:00 00:04:03 the seven hundred dollars in sales while
00:04:02 00:04:05 spending a thousand dollars
00:04:03 00:04:07 whether these numbers were flip-flopped
00:04:05 00:04:08 or not let's say i made a thousand while
00:04:07 00:04:10 only spending 700
00:04:08 00:04:12 you're still around that break even
00:04:10 00:04:13 number it's nothing phenomenal
00:04:12 00:04:15 but i want to prepare you if you're
00:04:13 00:04:17 getting into the e-commerce space
00:04:15 00:04:19 a lot of stuff is testing a lot of stuff
00:04:17 00:04:21 is testing oriented you got to build
00:04:19 00:04:22 data especially on facebook even with
00:04:21 00:04:24 tik-tok ads
00:04:22 00:04:26 this product also was very much so a
00:04:24 00:04:28 younger demographic we were targeting
00:04:26 00:04:29 so being around that break even mark
00:04:28 00:04:32 somewhere in that ballpark
00:04:29 00:04:34 i'm totally okay with sitting there so
00:04:32 00:04:34 factoring in again that product cost in
00:04:34 00:04:36 store
00:04:34 00:04:38 lost like 600 bucks i like to test fast
00:04:36 00:04:40 there was two products actually i tried
00:04:38 00:04:41 to sell a second one after the first
00:04:40 00:04:44 didn't even get a single sale so i just
00:04:41 00:04:46 cut that off but this was uh you know
00:04:44 00:04:47 doing okay and it was slowly building
00:04:46 00:04:49 data
00:04:47 00:04:51 somewhere near the one row ads you know
00:04:49 00:04:51 doing 700 bucks in sales spending a
00:04:51 00:04:52 thousand
00:04:51 00:04:55 some of these ads were up there like a
00:04:52 00:04:57 1.3 1.1 like it was around that range i
00:04:55 00:04:58 knew i was losing basically operational
00:04:57 00:04:59 costs
00:04:58 00:05:01 but i was willing to build the data
00:04:59 00:05:01 because the product might start picking
00:05:01 00:05:03 up traction
00:05:01 00:05:04 it did not so we're going to tok about
00:05:03 00:05:06 those issues now
00:05:04 00:05:08 one thing that really shied me away from
00:05:06 00:05:09 this product as i started to get some
00:05:08 00:05:11 sales coming in
00:05:09 00:05:12 it was getting an alarming amount of
00:05:11 00:05:14 negative feedback
00:05:12 00:05:15 which is kind of interesting you'll
00:05:14 00:05:16 notike especially if you're drop
00:05:15 00:05:17 shipping a product
00:05:16 00:05:19 you'll get people even if you just
00:05:17 00:05:19 started your store today and you started
00:05:19 00:05:21 your first ad
00:05:19 00:05:22 you look at people saying oh my gosh i
00:05:21 00:05:24 ordered you know four months ago and i
00:05:22 00:05:26 never got the product this is a scam
00:05:24 00:05:27 and you can't reply with saying that's
00:05:26 00:05:30 completely ridiculous
00:05:27 00:05:31 we've been open for a day right because
00:05:30 00:05:33 that doesn't make you look good
00:05:31 00:05:34 but people are going to naturally assume
00:05:33 00:05:35 it's just you and that's ridiculous i
00:05:34 00:05:36 don't know how people possibly think
00:05:35 00:05:38 about that
00:05:36 00:05:39 maybe if you stole the ad from the
00:05:38 00:05:40 original one they saw that's why we
00:05:39 00:05:42 don't like to steal content i'm going to
00:05:40 00:05:44 tok about content in a moment
00:05:42 00:05:46 but it just was getting so much negative
00:05:44 00:05:48 feedback so i guess some other companies
00:05:46 00:05:49 had ruined it which wasn't good to see
00:05:48 00:05:51 you probably could have grinded it out i
00:05:49 00:05:52 probably could have pushed and gotten
00:05:51 00:05:53 that data got it to the point where it
00:05:52 00:05:55 might have been profitable
00:05:53 00:05:56 and then started scaling trying other
00:05:55 00:05:58 similar products but it's a lot more
00:05:56 00:06:00 work and by doing that you're risking
00:05:58 00:06:01 two things a lot more money to try and
00:06:00 00:06:03 grind it out
00:06:01 00:06:05 as well as a lot more time because you
00:06:03 00:06:07 have to watch those ads really closely
00:06:05 00:06:08 when they're not performing very well
00:06:07 00:06:10 i'm killing stuff a lot sooner i'm
00:06:08 00:06:11 making sure that i modify stuff
00:06:10 00:06:13 and you know especially when you're not
00:06:11 00:06:14 in that profit range you definitely are
00:06:13 00:06:16 just going to be more analytikal
00:06:14 00:06:18 with your ads and that takes more time
00:06:16 00:06:20 okay so before i show you the product
00:06:18 00:06:22 i want to tok about the additional cost
00:06:20 00:06:23 so some stuff on top of that 600 bucks
00:06:22 00:06:24 it might have been 700 that i lost in
00:06:23 00:06:25 total
00:06:24 00:06:27 additional costs from the video ad
00:06:25 00:06:28 perspective i did not
00:06:27 00:06:30 rip a video ad from anyone else i didn't
00:06:28 00:06:31 steal pictures from anyone else
00:06:30 00:06:32 this is why it was a little bit
00:06:31 00:06:34 ridiculous to see a ton of negative
00:06:32 00:06:34 comments and if you get negative
00:06:34 00:06:36 comments
00:06:34 00:06:38 one quick tip i have for you if you're
00:06:36 00:06:40 on facebook hide the comment
00:06:38 00:06:41 do not delete the comment the reason you
00:06:40 00:06:43 want to do that is because if you're
00:06:41 00:06:46 deleting a bunch of comments on facebook
00:06:43 00:06:47 on an advertisement right a paid ad
00:06:46 00:06:49 facebook's going to view that as a red
00:06:47 00:06:51 flag why are they deleting
00:06:49 00:06:53 comments from potential customers it's a
00:06:51 00:06:54 red flag it'll probably demote your ad
00:06:53 00:06:55 account your ads will probably reach
00:06:54 00:06:56 less people
00:06:55 00:06:58 it can actually get you disabled it's
00:06:56 00:07:00 one thing that can happen so
00:06:58 00:07:02 for a video ad perspective most people
00:07:00 00:07:03 think oh well yeah you know i'll order
00:07:02 00:07:05 the product and take a super cool video
00:07:03 00:07:06 once it's making sales
00:07:05 00:07:08 that's completely backwards thinking
00:07:06 00:07:09 this is literally how everybody in the
00:07:08 00:07:09 industry thinks pretty much it's
00:07:09 00:07:11 ridiculous
00:07:09 00:07:13 they'll think oh yeah i'll order once
00:07:11 00:07:14 it's working or i'll buy a course to
00:07:13 00:07:16 learn how to run ads
00:07:14 00:07:18 once my ads make me the money to do that
00:07:16 00:07:20 i'll you know pay for med school once i
00:07:18 00:07:21 make enough money to pay for it by being
00:07:20 00:07:23 a doctor
00:07:21 00:07:24 it makes no sense so what i did i didn't
00:07:23 00:07:25 even order this product
00:07:24 00:07:27 at all i don't like to order until i
00:07:25 00:07:28 kind of see it's going to start working
00:07:27 00:07:31 but what i do in the meantime i use a
00:07:28 00:07:31 vea creative viral ecom ads we've toked
00:07:31 00:07:33 about that
00:07:31 00:07:35 for each product so i just started out
00:07:33 00:07:35 with one it was super simple i don't
00:07:35 00:07:37 know that cost
00:07:35 00:07:38 like 40 bucks and you send them a
00:07:37 00:07:39 picture we'll go through this in a
00:07:38 00:07:41 second
00:07:39 00:07:42 i send a picture of the product the
00:07:41 00:07:44 picture was sent to me by the supplier
00:07:42 00:07:47 so i got a unique photo wasn't anything
00:07:44 00:07:47 special but i had an entire animated
00:07:47 00:07:49 creative
00:07:47 00:07:51 with real clips mixed inside of there
00:07:49 00:07:52 from viral ecom ads so
00:07:51 00:07:54 for 40 bucks i got like a two day
00:07:52 00:07:56 turnaround time with a video ad that's
00:07:54 00:07:57 what i always recommend when you start
00:07:56 00:07:59 now as soon as
00:07:57 00:08:00 sales started coming in from this like i
00:07:59 00:08:02 saw some signs of life
00:08:00 00:08:03 i bought another one so i had two and
00:08:02 00:08:05 now what i did i started duplicating
00:08:03 00:08:06 every single ad that was around that
00:08:05 00:08:07 break even mark
00:08:06 00:08:09 and i just inputted the new creative i
00:08:07 00:08:10 didn't change anything else there was no
00:08:09 00:08:11 targeting difference no nothing
00:08:10 00:08:13 i just tried the different creative to
00:08:11 00:08:13 see hey is this one going to perform
00:08:13 00:08:15 better
00:08:13 00:08:16 it performed the same so you know it was
00:08:15 00:08:18 starting to work it was probably the
00:08:16 00:08:18 product i notiked a lot of negative
00:08:18 00:08:21 feedback
00:08:18 00:08:22 it just is what it is that happens so as
00:08:21 00:08:24 i was duplicating those you know i kind
00:08:22 00:08:25 of notiked that nothing popped very well
00:08:24 00:08:27 again i think the best individual ad set
00:08:25 00:08:29 was like a 1.3 row as
00:08:27 00:08:31 consistently you know there was a day
00:08:29 00:08:31 where one of these was like a 2.7 or
00:08:31 00:08:33 whatever
00:08:31 00:08:35 but consistently over like a one week
00:08:33 00:08:36 period um and i didn't have this running
00:08:35 00:08:38 for very long it was under two weeks
00:08:36 00:08:40 but over that week period you know the
00:08:38 00:08:42 best one that was consistent was a 1.3
00:08:40 00:08:44 roads which is around break even so
00:08:42 00:08:45 yeah that's one of the key things to
00:08:44 00:08:46 think about and when you're testing
00:08:45 00:08:48 products definitely be sure to check out

00:09:11 00:09:13 to make this clear before i go through
00:09:12 00:09:15 this
00:09:13 00:09:16 there's a bajillion products you could
00:09:15 00:09:18 sell in fact i recently made a video
00:09:16 00:09:19 toking about 16 different products that
00:09:18 00:09:20 i
00:09:19 00:09:21 literally found in like 20 minutes that
00:09:20 00:09:23 are pretty good that are working you can
00:09:21 00:09:23 go check that out it was a couple weeks
00:09:23 00:09:25 ago
00:09:23 00:09:26 but this is just an idea it doesn't mean
00:09:25 00:09:27 this product can't work one of the
00:09:26 00:09:28 reasons i wanted to try something
00:09:27 00:09:30 similar to this
00:09:28 00:09:32 is because i saw an ad that clearly was
00:09:30 00:09:34 working someone paid a tiktoker with
00:09:32 00:09:36 like 30 million followers
00:09:34 00:09:38 to make an ad around this that is where
00:09:36 00:09:40 it sparks the idea
00:09:38 00:09:42 the reason someone would pay someone
00:09:40 00:09:43 with 30 million followers probably 10
00:09:42 00:09:44 grand 20 grand
00:09:43 00:09:46 50 grand i have no idea probably
00:09:44 00:09:48 something like that is because it's
00:09:46 00:09:49 working so i had an idea that there was
00:09:48 00:09:50 a market for the product i saw a lot of
00:09:49 00:09:53 engagement on that ad
00:09:50 00:09:55 but i'll be honest i was selling this
00:09:53 00:09:58 and it did not work for me
00:09:55 00:10:00 now this is a photo from an aliexpress
00:09:58 00:10:01 listing so when i find products i want
00:10:00 00:10:03 to sell the way that i work with my
00:10:01 00:10:05 sourcing agent that i scale with i'll
00:10:03 00:10:07 send them an aliexpress link of the
00:10:05 00:10:08 product if i can find it and then they
00:10:07 00:10:10 can give me all of the different options
00:10:08 00:10:11 that they can source of products that
00:10:10 00:10:13 are similar to that
00:10:11 00:10:14 as well as similar variations of that
00:10:13 00:10:16 exact same spec
00:10:14 00:10:17 so that's something super important that
00:10:16 00:10:19 i like to do i'm not actually sourcing
00:10:17 00:10:20 off aliexpress that would be ridiculous
00:10:19 00:10:22 and inside the performance dropshipping
00:10:20 00:10:24 program we focus on again giving you the
00:10:22 00:10:25 supplier giving you the names phone
00:10:24 00:10:27 numbers emails all that stuff
00:10:25 00:10:28 so you can source from the right area
00:10:27 00:10:29 and not only have a better product
00:10:28 00:10:31 quality
00:10:29 00:10:32 and not chinese crappy packaging but
00:10:31 00:10:34 your shipping time's not 30 days
00:10:32 00:10:36 you know my average shipping time is
00:10:34 00:10:38 five to nine days that's an amazing
00:10:36 00:10:39 window that is a window that basically
00:10:38 00:10:40 competes with every single e-commerce
00:10:39 00:10:42 brand
00:10:40 00:10:43 that has a warehouse with inventory and
00:10:42 00:10:46 that's great you might tack on
00:10:43 00:10:48 a couple extra days but for the
00:10:46 00:10:49 additional ease of testing products not
00:10:48 00:10:50 needing the upfront capital i
00:10:49 00:10:52 certainly didn't have half a million
00:10:50 00:10:53 dollars when i was starting to order
00:10:52 00:10:55 inventory i didn't know anything about
00:10:53 00:10:57 warehousing logistiks packaging
00:10:55 00:10:59 employees payroll like none of that so
00:10:57 00:11:00 it's a lot more stuff to work on and
00:10:59 00:11:02 that's something that we tok about we
00:11:00 00:11:03 do tok about how to hold inventory
00:11:02 00:11:04 inside the program
00:11:03 00:11:05 but that's something down the road when
00:11:04 00:11:06 you're making money you're looking for
00:11:05 00:11:08 tax benefits
00:11:06 00:11:10 all that fun stuff so i was selling this
00:11:08 00:11:12 it didn't work it was eight dollars
00:11:10 00:11:14 initial cost so my product cost was
00:11:12 00:11:15 almost 40 roughly it was about 40
00:11:14 00:11:17 of what i was selling it for i was
00:11:15 00:11:18 selling it for a lower price point just
00:11:17 00:11:20 to see you know kind of the market and
00:11:18 00:11:21 see if it gets some sales first
00:11:20 00:11:23 but i knew this product also because i
00:11:21 00:11:23 toked to my supplier could go down to
00:11:23 00:11:26 like
00:11:23 00:11:28 six dollars 580 570 550 as it was
00:11:26 00:11:30 working so this product
00:11:28 00:11:32 is something that stiks to a wall to a
00:11:30 00:11:34 mirror to a surface
00:11:32 00:11:36 so it's very much so it looks cool but
00:11:34 00:11:37 it's also in my opinion kind of oriented
00:11:36 00:11:40 towards people who do social media
00:11:37 00:11:41 you know you could upsell a ring light
00:11:40 00:11:42 so you have a ring light
00:11:41 00:11:44 and you put the phone on something like
00:11:42 00:11:45 you know for people who do tiktoks or
00:11:44 00:11:46 whatever so this could probably crush it
00:11:45 00:11:48 with tiktok ads i was running
00:11:46 00:11:49 facebook ads but it's definitely
00:11:48 00:11:51 something that was interesting so i knew
00:11:49 00:11:52 there was potential to go downwards in
