00:00:59 00:01:03 versus not drop shipping and i know
00:01:01 00:01:04 people always go bananas when i say the
00:01:03 00:01:05 word drop shipping oh if it does drop
00:01:04 00:01:06 shipping work does this network look
00:01:05 00:01:08 drop shipping
00:01:06 00:01:10 just means you don't touch the product
00:01:08 00:01:12 that business model will never
00:01:10 00:01:14 go away i mean literally so many
00:01:12 00:01:16 businesses practike that model
00:01:14 00:01:18 it's just how you drop ships so i've
00:01:16 00:01:19 been doing this for over four years i've
00:01:18 00:01:20 done tens of millions of dollars in
00:01:19 00:01:21 sales
00:01:20 00:01:24 the majority of that has been through
00:01:21 00:01:26 drop shipping right the the most recent
00:01:24 00:01:27 many millions has not been i still do
00:01:26 00:01:29 dropship on occasion
00:01:27 00:01:30 depending on the time of the year as
00:01:29 00:01:32 well as the brand that i'm working on
00:01:30 00:01:34 so what i want to focus on in this video

00:02:28 00:02:32 is online so that gives me not only the
00:02:30 00:02:34 flexibility to work and travel but what
00:02:32 00:02:36 i realized almost two years ago
00:02:34 00:02:38 when i was spending months in southeast
00:02:36 00:02:41 asia and in europe
00:02:38 00:02:42 i realized why am i in the u.s not only
00:02:41 00:02:44 is it expensive
00:02:42 00:02:45 but the taxes are horrendous and i know
00:02:44 00:02:47 there's places that are terrible
00:02:45 00:02:49 but since i'm able to pretty much just
00:02:47 00:02:50 pick up and move it gives me a lot of
00:02:49 00:02:51 flexibility so i started looking into
00:02:50 00:02:53 other options
00:02:51 00:02:56 now i'm a resident in puerto rico and my
00:02:53 00:02:58 tax structure has drastikally changed
00:02:56 00:02:59 for the better for me now you gotta
00:02:58 00:03:01 realize people get mad all
00:02:59 00:03:03 they're not paying taxes well it just
00:03:01 00:03:05 means a business owner slash investor
00:03:03 00:03:06 now has more money to invest
00:03:05 00:03:08 which keeps the economy moving so it's
00:03:06 00:03:10 really all the same nonetheless
00:03:08 00:03:12 one thing i did this year i actually
00:03:10 00:03:14 took a new brand that i've been working
00:03:12 00:03:16 on for probably 10 months
00:03:14 00:03:17 and i took it from drop shipping where
00:03:16 00:03:18 it's been dropshipping the last nine
00:03:17 00:03:21 months
00:03:18 00:03:22 i took it from drop shipping to not drop
00:03:21 00:03:24 shipping
00:03:22 00:03:25 wow absolutely phenomenal but i did this
00:03:24 00:03:27 in a bigger way than i normally do and
00:03:25 00:03:28 that's why i want to tok about it so
00:03:27 00:03:30 there's three things i do when i
00:03:28 00:03:32 determine if i should take something
00:03:30 00:03:34 from a profitable drop shipping store
00:03:32 00:03:35 into a brand the difference for me
00:03:34 00:03:37 between drop shipping and just a normal
00:03:35 00:03:38 store and a brand when i use the word
00:03:37 00:03:40 brand
00:03:38 00:03:42 it's something that i plan on having for
00:03:40 00:03:44 multiple years it's something i'm very
00:03:42 00:03:45 confident i could sell if i ever choose
00:03:44 00:03:46 to do so
00:03:45 00:03:48 and it's something where we actually put
00:03:46 00:03:50 attention and we have someone where
00:03:48 00:03:52 their job and it's not me
00:03:50 00:03:54 someone's job is to manage the social
00:03:52 00:03:54 media as well as the social media
00:03:54 00:03:57 content
00:03:54 00:03:58 as well as the social media comments all
00:03:57 00:04:00 of the the dm requests everything like
00:03:58 00:04:02 that on the facebook page
00:04:00 00:04:04 the instagram helping out with emails we
00:04:02 00:04:05 put a lot more focus into the entire
00:04:04 00:04:06 brand
00:04:05 00:04:09 basically the vision online the
00:04:06 00:04:10 experience from email marketing to
00:04:09 00:04:12 optimizing the funnel to making sure
00:04:10 00:04:14 that everything is as smooth as possible
00:04:12 00:04:16 and that really helps increase our
00:04:14 00:04:18 customer attention number one but also
00:04:16 00:04:19 the returning customer rate
00:04:18 00:04:21 so what i actually look for i don't want
00:04:19 00:04:23 to have some product that i start
00:04:21 00:04:25 selling for two weeks like some led
00:04:23 00:04:26 light strips it blows up it starts doing
00:04:25 00:04:28 really well
00:04:26 00:04:29 and then i order a bunch of inventory
00:04:28 00:04:31 and the product stops working or my ad
00:04:29 00:04:32 account gets disabled
00:04:31 00:04:34 so here's what i make sure i do before
00:04:32 00:04:35 before i go into some of these specific
00:04:34 00:04:36 numbers
00:04:35 00:04:38 on ordering inventory and why i ordered
00:04:36 00:04:40 a stupidly large amount of inventory
00:04:38 00:04:43 that was probably unnecessary
00:04:40 00:04:44 i want to break this down if you are
00:04:43 00:04:47 drop shipping here's what you should do
00:04:44 00:04:48 in my opinion it's purely my opinion so
00:04:47 00:04:50 take it take it as you will
00:04:48 00:04:51 and i've done it for people who don't
00:04:50 00:04:53 know who i am i'm not the biggest drop
00:04:51 00:04:54 shot the biggest ecommerce person i've
00:04:53 00:04:56 done tens of millions of dollars in this
00:04:54 00:04:58 space i make a decent living from it and
00:04:56 00:05:00 it allows me to invest in travel so from
00:04:58 00:05:02 a drop shipping perspective
00:05:00 00:05:03 once i have a store that is hitting at
00:05:02 00:05:05 least 100 to 300 000
00:05:03 00:05:07 a month consistently right i'm in the
00:05:05 00:05:09 million to multiple million dollar a
00:05:07 00:05:11 year range in revenue
00:05:09 00:05:13 and i've been doing it consistently for
00:05:11 00:05:15 three months five months six months
00:05:13 00:05:16 the merchants are healthy because you
00:05:15 00:05:18 don't want something you've run up for
00:05:16 00:05:20 three weeks you don't really know yet
00:05:18 00:05:21 how the customers react to the product
00:05:20 00:05:23 do they like the quality do they like
00:05:21 00:05:24 the experience do they buy more products
00:05:23 00:05:26 because what if you go order inventory
00:05:24 00:05:28 and then all the chargebacks flood in
00:05:26 00:05:29 and now you lose your merchants
00:05:28 00:05:30 right so you want to make sure that your
00:05:29 00:05:31 payment processing is good your ad
00:05:30 00:05:33 account is good
00:05:31 00:05:34 you should probably set up multiple ad
00:05:33 00:05:35 accounts which by the way in that long
00:05:34 00:05:37 format video

00:05:59 00:06:03 it's always more than just numbers you
00:06:01 00:06:04 have to see get a sense of the customer
00:06:03 00:06:05 feedback tok to your support person
00:06:04 00:06:06 every week hey
00:06:05 00:06:08 how many people were upset how many
00:06:06 00:06:10 total inquiries did you get okay we got
00:06:08 00:06:12 132 questions
00:06:10 00:06:13 you know 40 of them were about shipping
00:06:12 00:06:15 and haven't categorized them like that
00:06:13 00:06:16 six people were upset why were they
00:06:15 00:06:18 upset okay
00:06:16 00:06:19 you know betty in kansas was mad because
00:06:18 00:06:21 her product took two weeks to come in
00:06:19 00:06:22 okay that was not a product quality
00:06:21 00:06:25 issue that was a shipping issue
00:06:22 00:06:27 so looking at that stuff i'm okay with
00:06:25 00:06:28 getting angry shipping inquiries
00:06:27 00:06:30 if i'm looking to take something from
00:06:28 00:06:30 drop shipping to not drop shipping
00:06:30 00:06:32 because
00:06:30 00:06:34 if i'm having customer shipping increase
00:06:32 00:06:36 well that means that
00:06:34 00:06:38 by not drop shipping it would be even
00:06:36 00:06:39 better because then that shipping time
00:06:38 00:06:41 would be faster because now we actually
00:06:39 00:06:42 have the product in a warehouse so i
00:06:41 00:06:44 definitely look at that average shipping
00:06:42 00:06:46 time i make sure that the customers are
00:06:44 00:06:47 overall satisfied with the product
00:06:46 00:06:50 and then if it's showing consistent
00:06:47 00:06:51 numbers here's my rule of thumb
00:06:50 00:06:53 for any new business owner and this is
00:06:51 00:06:55 something i'm so grateful i did well for
00:06:53 00:06:56 at least 10 months um
00:06:55 00:06:58 for 10 months probably probably really
00:06:56 00:06:59 like 13 months when i first started
00:06:58 00:07:01 making money with e-commerce
00:06:59 00:07:03 i didn't take much money out of the
00:07:01 00:07:04 business so here's how you can think
00:07:03 00:07:05 about this
00:07:04 00:07:08 if you're starting your first drop
00:07:05 00:07:08 shipping store what were you doing to
00:07:08 00:07:11 afford
00:07:08 00:07:12 food rent gas all that stuff and this is
00:07:11 00:07:14 outside of the business but
00:07:12 00:07:15 what were you doing to afford that
00:07:14 00:07:17 before you started making a hundred
00:07:15 00:07:19 thousand dollars a month in revenue
00:07:17 00:07:21 right as long as you can not pull money
00:07:19 00:07:23 out of your business to cover
00:07:21 00:07:25 expenses like that because you found a
00:07:23 00:07:27 way creatively to do it before
00:07:25 00:07:28 if you can keep doing that and make sure
00:07:27 00:07:30 that you're continuing to have all this
00:07:28 00:07:32 money coming in in your business
00:07:30 00:07:33 but you keep it in the business this is
00:07:32 00:07:35 something that's going to be your
00:07:33 00:07:37 advantage what you should do
00:07:35 00:07:39 is basically wipe out your tax bill for
00:07:37 00:07:42 the year so what i did with this
00:07:39 00:07:43 is i tried to take all the profits that
00:07:42 00:07:45 we had made
00:07:43 00:07:46 that is still sitting in a bank account
00:07:45 00:07:49 it hasn't been spent on a
00:07:46 00:07:51 freaking new hood for my lamborghini i
00:07:49 00:07:51 haven't built a new pool in my backyard
00:07:51 00:07:53 right i haven't
00:07:51 00:07:55 renovated the kitchen or anything that's
00:07:53 00:07:56 not like a separate investment that
00:07:55 00:07:58 makes sense
00:07:56 00:08:00 it's just focused on the business you
00:07:58 00:08:02 put it back in this kind of goes against
00:08:00 00:08:03 what some people say they say oh
00:08:02 00:08:04 you know all the money you make you
00:08:03 00:08:06 gotta you gotta invest it you gotta put
00:08:04 00:08:07 in an index fund and super secure low
00:08:06 00:08:09 returns
00:08:07 00:08:10 be safe that's a scarcity mindset
00:08:09 00:08:12 because that's you
00:08:10 00:08:14 telling yourself that there's never
00:08:12 00:08:15 going to be any more money coming in
00:08:14 00:08:17 so at first you should be focused on
00:08:15 00:08:18 your business i did this for years
00:08:17 00:08:20 before i ever made an investment
00:08:18 00:08:22 and i'm not saying it's right or wrong
00:08:20 00:08:24 this is just what i did and take that
00:08:22 00:08:25 first year's profit take a good chunk of
00:08:24 00:08:27 it 60
00:08:25 00:08:28 70 whatever you want to do and go buy
00:08:27 00:08:30 inventory okay
00:08:28 00:08:32 work with the 3pl it's a third-party
00:08:30 00:08:33 logistiks center you can use anywhere in
00:08:32 00:08:34 the world there's literally probably
00:08:33 00:08:36 thousands of them
00:08:34 00:08:37 and go ahead and buy inventory so it's
00:08:36 00:08:40 going to offer you a bunch of benefits
00:08:37 00:08:42 number one the obvious the tax benefit
00:08:40 00:08:43 is huge you just made all this profit
00:08:42 00:08:46 and now on paper
00:08:43 00:08:47 your net profit is gonna be way way down
00:08:46 00:08:49 so it helps you there
00:08:47 00:08:50 and you're already gonna sell the
00:08:49 00:08:53 inventory you already know that but it
00:08:50 00:08:55 helps you in a few other key ways
00:08:53 00:08:56 when i start working with with my main
00:08:55 00:08:58 supplier every time it's basically the
00:08:56 00:08:59 same person for every brand
00:08:58 00:09:01 unless there's a huge issue or
00:08:59 00:09:03 difference with pricing i
00:09:01 00:09:05 when i send them inventory when we order
00:09:03 00:09:07 all the inventory i say hey
00:09:05 00:09:09 you're gonna include custom packaging
00:09:07 00:09:10 except for one of my brands where the
00:09:09 00:09:11 box is probably
00:09:10 00:09:13 this big it's basically a foot and a
00:09:11 00:09:15 half by six inches by eight inches the
00:09:13 00:09:16 box is pretty big
00:09:15 00:09:19 with everything else where it's smaller
00:09:16 00:09:19 or it's a packaging i say include it for
00:09:19 00:09:22 free
00:09:19 00:09:23 and if you're going to order 200 000 or
00:09:22 00:09:24 400 000
00:09:23 00:09:27 with the inventory you can usually get
00:09:24 00:09:29 them to work on a very good rate or free
00:09:27 00:09:30 for your custom packaging so these other
00:09:29 00:09:32 benefits would include
00:09:30 00:09:33 faster shipping a whole lot faster you
00:09:32 00:09:36 go from two weeks
00:09:33 00:09:37 to four to five days so you get that
00:09:36 00:09:39 done you might be paying
00:09:37 00:09:41 80 cents or one dollar per order for
00:09:39 00:09:43 fulfillment on a 35
00:09:41 00:09:44 order before upsells and other stuff so
00:09:43 00:09:46 it's really not that bad
00:09:44 00:09:47 but you get to drop your shipping time
00:09:46 00:09:49 your product quality is probably the
00:09:47 00:09:50 same but your experience for the
00:09:49 00:09:52 customer is better
00:09:50 00:09:54 and this actually increases the
00:09:52 00:09:56 perceived quality of your product
00:09:54 00:09:57 because the packaging is great so get
00:09:56 00:09:58 custom packaging
00:09:57 00:10:00 they're going to probably post it on
00:09:58 00:10:02 social media they can start tagging you
00:10:00 00:10:03 this is how you build a brand i
00:10:02 00:10:04 completely plaster the box or the
00:10:03 00:10:06 package
00:10:04 00:10:08 with our social media we got our
00:10:06 00:10:10 instagram on there our facebook
00:10:08 00:10:11 and a really cool design so don't cheap
00:10:10 00:10:13 out on the packaging even if it costs
00:10:11 00:10:14 you an extra 20 cents to put some colors
00:10:13 00:10:16 and text on there
00:10:14 00:10:18 it's usually a really great move because
00:10:16 00:10:19 as you start doing giveaways and doing
00:10:18 00:10:22 more brand based stuff
00:10:19 00:10:24 having people take pictures even if they
00:10:22 00:10:26 have 34 followers and they live in texas
00:10:24 00:10:28 well they tag you on instagram and then
00:10:26 00:10:30 you repost it on your guys's instagram
00:10:28 00:10:31 and you just do that with every customer
00:10:30 00:10:32 it really just first of all that
00:10:31 00:10:33 customer is going to be a customer
00:10:32 00:10:35 review for
00:10:33 00:10:37 life because you repost it but they're
00:10:35 00:10:39 absolutely going to love what you did so
00:10:37 00:10:41 that is something to focus on for sure
00:10:39 00:10:42 and that's also a huge reason why i love
00:10:41 00:10:44 ordering the inventory
00:10:42 00:10:46 is because it's almost like you're
00:10:44 00:10:47 locking yourself in you spend
00:10:46 00:10:49 almost all the money that you've made in
00:10:47 00:10:51 profit you're going to be committed to
00:10:49 00:10:52 it you're going to make sure it works
00:10:51 00:10:52 and you're going to put a lot more
00:10:52 00:10:54 attention on it
00:10:52 00:10:56 and it's overall going to go better so
00:10:54 00:10:58 just to summarize here the tax benefits
00:10:56 00:10:59 the customer benefits people are going
00:10:58 00:11:00 to love you way more the long-term
00:10:59 00:11:01 benefits
00:11:00 00:11:03 and it's going to make sure that you're
00:11:01 00:11:04 dedicated and consistent but just make
00:11:03 00:11:06 sure that you have
00:11:04 00:11:08 consistent sales coming in a healthy
00:11:06 00:11:09 payment processor make sure you've
00:11:08 00:11:11 spoken to them
00:11:09 00:11:12 everything is good make sure you have
00:11:11 00:11:14 everything set up with your social media
00:11:12 00:11:14 and then you can start working on
00:11:14 00:11:16 ordering
00:11:14 00:11:17 inventory so there's a lot of things
00:11:16 00:11:18 like that and then once you have your
00:11:17 00:11:19 own packaging
00:11:18 00:11:20 then you can start taking some really
00:11:19 00:11:21 cool custom content so there's so many
00:11:20 00:11:23 cool things
00:11:21 00:11:25 but this is how i pull something out of
00:11:23 00:11:26 drop shipping
00:11:25 00:11:28 into being an actual brand you know it
00:11:26 00:11:30 takes time to really become a brand but
00:11:28 00:11:31 you can start working on that customer
00:11:30 00:11:32 experience and that's definitely the
00:11:31 00:11:34 first step
