00:01:10 00:01:14 perfect gift and the supplier looks to
00:01:12 00:01:16 be really good they have a lot of
00:01:14 00:01:18 positive feedback the product quality

00:01:20 00:01:24 can see this store has launched the

00:01:37 00:01:42 can do something better this ad copy is
00:01:40 00:01:45 not the greatest the photo is literally
00:01:42 00:01:48 the default photo from aliexpress and
00:01:45 00:01:49 their website itself works but it's not
00:01:48 00:01:51 the best i've ever seen so we have a
00:01:49 00:01:53 great product with a trustworthy
00:01:51 00:01:55 supplier that's already been validated
00:01:53 00:01:57 and has room for improvement

00:03:04 00:03:08 can see i took the time to find the best

00:03:08 00:03:12 logo into some of them this just
00:03:10 00:03:14 increases the perceived value and makes
00:03:12 00:03:16 your website look much more trustworthy

00:03:18 00:03:22 detail that these necklaces actually
00:03:20 00:03:25 have for the title i kept it as basic as

00:03:25 00:03:29 up these custom variants so people can
00:03:27 00:03:31 upload their own photos and put a name
00:03:29 00:03:32 for the necklace the product is
00:03:31 00:03:34 self-explanatory so we didn't need some
00:03:32 00:03:36 super long description i just wanted to
00:03:34 00:03:38 keep it straight and to the point so i
00:03:36 00:03:40 went for the angle of keep your loved
00:03:38 00:03:42 ones close to your heart i put a picture
00:03:40 00:03:44 here showing the before and after and
00:03:42 00:03:47 then i toked about what we offer the
00:03:44 00:03:49 benefits of ordering from us and every
00:03:47 00:03:51 order comes with a gift box but i
00:03:49 00:03:53 decided to frame it as a free gift box
00:03:51 00:03:55 just to increase the value in the eyes
00:03:53 00:03:57 of the customer i put some basic order
00:03:55 00:04:00 instructions and then i added some
00:03:57 00:04:02 reviews from aliexpress directly onto
00:04:00 00:04:04 the website and obviously i had to spend
00:04:02 00:04:06 like an hour today setting up all these
00:04:04 00:04:10 pages so we have a contact us page an
00:04:06 00:04:12 faq page track your order page
00:04:10 00:04:14 everything that you need to legally run
00:04:12 00:04:15 your business it's all good to go for
00:04:14 00:04:16 every app that i used on this store i
00:04:15 00:04:18 tried to make sure they all had a free
00:04:16 00:04:20 trial so the only thing i've spent money
00:04:18 00:04:24 on so far is the domain and it cost me
00:04:20 00:04:26 25 so now i only have a 225 budget to
00:04:24 00:04:27 work with for the ads but i think we can
00:04:26 00:04:29 do something with that so now i'm gonna
00:04:27 00:04:30 go through and set up some facebook ads
00:04:29 00:04:31 and i'll show you the finished product
00:04:30 00:04:33 when it's all done the ads are
00:04:31 00:04:35 officially live so let's take a look so
00:04:33 00:04:37 i went with a very simple structure of
00:04:35 00:04:38 just running one campaign with a hundred
00:04:37 00:04:40 dollar daily budget inside of this
00:04:38 00:04:42 campaign i have five different ad sets
00:04:40 00:04:44 targeting a couple different angles and
00:04:42 00:04:45 i'm only targeting the us right now
00:04:44 00:04:47 because that's where the majority of
00:04:45 00:04:48 christmas shopping happens for the ad
00:04:47 00:04:50 creative i put three different
00:04:48 00:04:52 variations the only thing that's
00:04:50 00:04:53 different between these three ads is the
00:04:52 00:04:55 actual photos so you can see in the
00:04:53 00:04:57 first one we have a middle aged kid and
00:04:55 00:05:00 the second one we have grandma right
00:04:57 00:05:01 here and in the third one we have the
00:05:00 00:05:04 original photo that worked well for the
00:05:01 00:05:05 competitor so the goal of this campaign
00:05:04 00:05:07 is to see which audience and which
00:05:05 00:05:09 creative people like the most hopefully
00:05:07 00:05:11 get some sales and then we can cut off
00:05:09 00:05:13 the ones that aren't performing and put
00:05:11 00:05:15 the rest of our budget into the top
00:05:13 00:05:17 performing audience and create it and if
00:05:15 00:05:19 none of this ends up working i'm gonna
00:05:17 00:05:21 have to make a huge pivot but for now
00:05:19 00:05:24 let's let's spend some money and see the

00:05:39 00:05:43 add to carts and no sales whatsoever
00:05:41 00:05:44 cost per click on facebook was way too
00:05:43 00:05:46 high as well so i think i need to go
00:05:44 00:05:48 back to the drawing board but for now i
00:05:46 00:05:50 just decided to come outside enjoy some
00:05:48 00:05:52 of the miami vibes and get back to it
00:05:50 00:05:53 tonight it's like no matter how long
00:05:52 00:05:54 i've been doing this or how many
00:05:53 00:05:56 projects i've started starting something
00:05:54 00:05:58 new is always a super big challenge and
00:05:56 00:05:59 extremely stressful so if you're
00:05:58 00:06:00 starting a new business and you're going
00:05:59 00:06:02 through that just know that it's totally
00:06:00 00:06:04 normal and part of the process we got
00:06:02 00:06:04 this
00:06:05 00:06:09 it's another late night right now it's
00:06:07 00:06:11 about 1am on the second day let me show
00:06:09 00:06:12 you where i'm at yesterday in total i
00:06:11 00:06:14 spent 37
00:06:12 00:06:17 on facebook ads i decided to trim the
00:06:14 00:06:19 budget down from 100 to 50 because none
00:06:17 00:06:21 of these ad sets were really performing
00:06:19 00:06:24 that well as you can see the cpms are
00:06:21 00:06:26 relatively high and the cost per link
00:06:24 00:06:27 clicks were pretty insane i killed the
00:06:26 00:06:29 two worst performing ad sets and now
00:06:27 00:06:31 have these three left honestly i don't
00:06:29 00:06:33 feel that optimistik about this campaign
00:06:31 00:06:34 anymore because i realized i made a few
00:06:33 00:06:37 crucial mistakes the first mistake was
00:06:34 00:06:39 only targeting the us this made sense
00:06:37 00:06:41 when i said it earlier but every brand
00:06:39 00:06:43 is spending as much money as they can on
00:06:41 00:06:44 this market so it's super expensive to
00:06:43 00:06:46 advertise here i think the second
00:06:44 00:06:48 mistake i made is putting too many
00:06:46 00:06:50 different ads inside of each ad set this
00:06:48 00:06:52 is something that i always do but i'm
00:06:50 00:06:54 not used to being on such a tight budget
00:06:52 00:06:56 so what's happening is that it's not
00:06:54 00:06:58 able to really spend as much as i need
00:06:56 00:07:00 on each of these to get a fair test and
00:06:58 00:07:02 the last mistake that i think i made is
00:07:00 00:07:04 doing photo ads now i notiked the top
00:07:02 00:07:05 competitor was running a photo out so
00:07:04 00:07:07 that's what made me want to use that but
00:07:05 00:07:09 pretty much the majority of all my
00:07:07 00:07:11 success with shopify has come from video
00:07:09 00:07:13 ads thankfully this product was uploaded
00:07:11 00:07:15 to my software viral vault about a month
00:07:13 00:07:17 ago and there was a ready to go video ad
00:07:15 00:07:18 already inside of there so i set up this
00:07:17 00:07:20 campaign to fix these problems as you
00:07:18 00:07:22 can see i shifted from targeting the us
00:07:20 00:07:25 to targeting the big four countries i
00:07:22 00:07:27 only put one ad in each ad set and i
00:07:25 00:07:29 changed it to this video ad right here
00:07:27 00:07:31 tomorrow is pretty much the last day of
00:07:29 00:07:34 the challenge so i'm really hoping that
00:07:31 00:07:34 this works but for now
00:07:37 00:07:42 so i'm sitting here having my morning
00:07:38 00:07:45 coffee and we just got the first sale
00:07:42 00:07:46 let's go i was really starting to get
00:07:45 00:07:48 discouraged that nobody was gonna buy
00:07:46 00:07:50 this at all but that feeling of getting
00:07:48 00:07:52 the first sale just gave me so much
00:07:50 00:07:54 optimism i'm gonna work on ads a little
00:07:52 00:07:56 bit more hit the gym and see what we can
00:07:54 00:07:58 do today right now it's about 10 p.m and
00:07:56 00:08:01 my luck has turned around so far on the
00:07:58 00:08:02 day the store has generated 209 dollars
00:08:01 00:08:04 in sales this only came from three
00:08:02 00:08:06 orders one of them was huge they ordered
00:08:04 00:08:08 three necklaces and the other two were
00:08:06 00:08:09 just individual orders since it's the
00:08:08 00:08:11 last night of this challenge i'm gonna
00:08:09 00:08:13 go ahead and kill the worst forming ad
00:08:11 00:08:15 sets let the best ones keep running and
00:08:13 00:08:18 tomorrow morning i'll update you with

00:08:20 00:08:23 literally zero hours of sleep i'm here
00:08:22 00:08:24 to share the final results of the
00:08:23 00:08:26 challenge with you i started this
00:08:24 00:08:28 challenge with a budget of 250 and on
00:08:26 00:08:29 the first day i didn't spend any money
00:08:28 00:08:31 and i didn't make any sales so the
00:08:29 00:08:33 profit for day one is zero dollars on
00:08:31 00:08:35 day two i officially launched the
00:08:33 00:08:36 website so i bought the domain which
00:08:35 00:08:39 cost me twenty five dollars and i spent
00:08:36 00:08:41 thirty seven dollars in ads to generate
00:08:39 00:08:44 zero sales leaving the profit for day
00:08:41 00:08:46 number two at negative 62 on day three
00:08:44 00:08:48 things started to turn around a little
00:08:46 00:08:52 bit i spent 155 dollars in ads to
00:08:48 00:08:54 generate 209 in sales but after all the
00:08:52 00:08:56 fulfillment cost of fifty two dollars i
00:08:54 00:08:58 was left with a grand total of two
00:08:56 00:08:59 dollars in profit and for today which is
00:08:58 00:09:02 the last day of the challenge so far i
00:08:59 00:09:04 spent fifty dollars in ads to generate
00:09:02 00:09:07 eighty dollars in sales but after the 24
00:09:04 00:09:09 fulfillment cost i was left with a six
00:09:07 00:09:10 dollar profit which leaves the grand
00:09:09 00:09:13 total for this entire challenge at
00:09:10 00:09:14 negative 54 in profit so what's the
00:09:13 00:09:16 lesson here even though i've been doing
00:09:14 00:09:18 this for years and sold millions of
00:09:16 00:09:20 dollars worth of products it still takes
00:09:18 00:09:22 time to build a profitable business i am
00:09:20 00:09:23 extremely confident that if i kept
00:09:22 00:09:25 working on this store i could really
00:09:23 00:09:27 turn into a profitable long-term
00:09:25 00:09:29 business but it's almost impossible to
00:09:27 00:09:30 do that overnight i think there's way
00:09:29 00:09:32 too many videos on youtube that set an
00:09:30 00:09:34 unrealistik expectation for what it
00:09:32 00:09:35 really takes to build a proper business
00:09:34 00:09:37 so if you're working on building your
00:09:35 00:09:39 own business right now trust the process
00:09:37 00:09:41 have patience and just know that your
00:09:39 00:09:43 time will come don't worry about how
00:09:41 00:09:44 successful everybody else is and how
00:09:43 00:09:47 fast they're doing it because a lot of
00:09:44 00:09:49 times it's bs and rules are rules i lost
