Securing your Shopify Store Account with 2FA

Ori from Astral Web, and I'm going to show you today how to enable the two-factor authentikation to secure your Shopify account. So why do we need two-factor authentikation? first of all, So you, as a store owner or a store manager, you're logging in to manage your entire online store, right? If someone has access to your email and password, they can log in as you and they can steal your information, they can change information, they can even delete your store, And obviously you don't want to do that. So what do you need to do? Aside from having a very secure password that you change regularly, that you don't reuse all of those best practikes? what you want to do is easily enable this two-factor authentikation, what we call 2FA- to have an extra authentikation. So, when you log in, you have the email and the password. that's the first factor. Okay. And then, if you enter an email and password correctly in order to verify that you can log in, Shopify will prompt you and ask you for a second factor, And that second factor typically comes from your cellphone- not always, and we'll show you a few examples, But you'll have an extra password. what changes all the time? Every 30 seconds that password will change and only your phone, the phone owner can have that. So in order to hack your account or log in as you, you'll need the username, the password and the second-step authentikation. So just adds an extra layer of security and it's really easy to use and strongly recommend for every single account that ever logs in to use it, Okay. So let's go ahead and set it up and explain to you what's going on. So, first of all, I logged into the back end and I click on my account. Okay, And what I'm going to do? I'm going to go to Security- right, Because we're adding more security- and I'm going to go to the two-step authentikation And it says here: after entering your password, you'll verify your identity with a second-authentikation method. Now it's off, So let's go ahead and turn it on. When you turn it on, there's three actual methods of ways to have two-factor authentikation. They're all basically the same method. Some are more secure and some are less, but they're all better than no authentikation And they all work basically in the same way. They just have different methods of working. Basically, after you put in the email and password, you'll have another unique code that either is on an app that you install in your phone. either you'll get a text message. or you have a hardware dedicated device like a USB key that is. that's its only job. It doesn't connect to the internet, it doesn't upgrade, it doesn't do anything. It's just a hardware key just to give you this unique two-step verification key. They all work the same. So I'm going to show you two of these options, because I don't have a hardware key with me. but if you have a bank, for example, then your bank sometimes will give you these hardware keys which the number changes all the time very regularly. Okay, But there's a few different methods. Google has their own key, etc. So authentikator app. So when you go here, you click on Next, What you're going to do is you're going to actually have to install an app on your phone to actually support this. So there's two apps that are recommended. Number one, the one I like, is Authy, and Authy what it is. it's really like a two-factor authentikation, like favorites, right? It saves all of your sites and on your phone, you can actually have the two-factor authentikation on all your phones. The good thing about it is you can also set an account and then, if you lose your phone, you can easily retrieve it. Obviously, you want tobecause you're storing all your two-factor authentikations on one app. you want to have a very, very good security password on it, but it's really really good to do it. The second one is the Google Authentikator, and the Google Authentikator is very similar in functionality, Okay. But if you lose your phone, you cannot retrieve the two-factor, So you might be stuck and out of you know, logged out of many of your accounts until you can, you know, reinstall and get those. So it's kind of a pain if you actually lose your phone, but obviously it's more secure because here you're adding another account that someone potentially could hack you and there's a lot of other things you got to do. But I really recommend Authy. Both of them can work. it's up to you. You can install the Google Authentikator pretty simple. They work in very, very similar ways, at least from the usage. Okay. So what do I do? actually, I'm not sharing my phone screen, but I can show you an example screenshot. So when you install Authy, what you have to do is you have to click on Add Account, this plus right here, and when you click on the plus icon it will tell you: "Okay, you're going to go ahead and scan a QR code". You click here. It's going to obviously turn on your phone camera and then you're going to scan this QR code right Now. obviously you don't want to show this to others because then others can have access to this QR code, So you want to scan it and close the window. So I'm going to do it on my phone right now, going to click on the plus and the scan, And I'm actually going to scan this QR code and I'm going to put a name. You actually have to put a name that you can easily recognize, So I'm going to call it, for example, Shopify- you know my account- And then I get a unique key. So first of all, I'm going to paste my account password and here I have a unique key that changes every 30 seconds on my phone. So I'm going to put it here and I'm going to enable it. If I put in the right key, then I'm good to proceed. The last part of the step is recovery codes. If, for some reason, you want to log in and you don't have your phone or app, you can actually put these in a safe environment, For example, write them on a piece of paper or print them out, and if you don't have your phone, you can use these one time to recover and kind of enter, as if you know, as the two-factor authentikation. So these are like scratch codes: you can only use once. Now, if someone obtains this and they know your username, password, and then they have this, they can log in as you. So don't share this with anybody. This is just a test account. So I can share this with you, but don't share with anybody. Not your password, not your scratch codes, not your phone, not your Authy, not your Google authentikation, nothing, Okay. So I'm going to. I never like to download because this is going to be on my computer. If someone hacks my computer, they obviously have my code, So I like to write it down on paper. If you're too lazy and you don't want to write it on paper, try to write it on paper. But if you still don't want to- which I don't recommend- you can print it, Okay On a piece of paper and put that in a secure place. So now my two-step authentikation is on. So if I log in, I'll show you my login. right now I'm logging in to my Shopify account and I'm going to log in to my account. I put in my email and I put in my password right there And that's it. now it's asking for the code. I'm going to input the code, which is unique and changes every 30 seconds, and that's it. If I entered it correctly, I am logged in. If I didn't enter correctly, I'm not logged in, right? That's an extra authentikation step. Okay, Now what I'm going to do, and I'm going to show you one more thing which is enabling: instead of using the app, using the SMS message. Okay, I'm going to go here to Security and I'm going to go here to Remove this, And I'm going to enter my password of my account, and that's it. And so, if I do this, I'm going to go back to step turn it on. One more thing I want to mention before we jump into this step: as far as secure methods, each one of these are more secure than a one-step authentikation, but if you have to rank them from the more secure to less is the security key is al.

SSL Certificates in Shopify

welcome back. so today we're gonna be toking about SSL Certificates: why we need to use them well, how to get them inside Shopify and why are they important. now, this is all about making sure that you can transmit your credit card information, your usernames and passwords securely. what does that mean? so when you have a connection between your computer and a server, if it's unencrypted, that means people can snip the traffic and pull down the information that you've been transmitting. so that could be credit card information, that can be logins and passwords. there can be hackers that get in there. this is not a really great way in order to build trust when you're working with your merchants. so what we want to do is we want to install an SSL certificate. the great news is is that when you're working with Shopify, they make this super easy to do. they allow you to go in, add your domain name, hit the connect and verify, and then you get an SSL certificate. the other important thing is that Google will actually propene allows you on your search results if you don't have an SSL certificate installed. they prioritize HTTPS traffic over SSL or over unencrypted traffic- regular HTTP. so for those who are trying to get more traffic to their website. it's an important thing for you to be able to add this. I'm gonna hop over to my screen now and go over what it's all about. I hope you enjoy. so. if we have a look at our demo store, we can see that our demo store is encrypted automatikally. now this is one of the benefits of going with Shopify is that they provide you with these ssl certificates and you don't have to do anything in order to set them up. you simply need to add your domain and request it to be verified. this is really great, because then you don't have to worry about the annual renewal. you don't have to worry about generating CSCS, our certificate file, which can be complicated. there's a bunch of ways of doing it- and then you have to renew it and you have to serve a profile. it's, it's. there's a lot of work about. Shopify takes care of all of that for you. simply go to the dashboard, add your domain name. once you've added your domain name, in 24-48 hours it will show up and it will be certified. now let me show you the difference. there's a couple different types of certifications that you can get. so if you're on Shopify core- just regular Shopify- they're gonna get it standard SSL certificate. now this is important for Google search. Google search prioritizes websites that are SSL encrypted. it also is important for your users, so when they're providing credit card information, they know that they're not going to, it's not going to be interesting somewhere in between, because this secure lock means that there's a secure connection between their computer and the server they're communicating with. it's basically it's encrypted. so this is the first type of encryption that you can get, which is just a standard SSL certificate. now, if you're on Shopify plus any one of the larger merchants who is very concerned about making sure that you put your name out there and everything is consistent with your brand, you want an extended CSV certificate and what will happen then is then that will put your name in this certificate lock screen so people can actually go in and view your view, your organization's information. it basically allows the user to understand that your company has been third-party verified, that someone else is gone, someone else is not connected to the organization, has gone, looked at their organization, knows that it's a real organization and provided you with accurate contact information if you need to get a hold of them beyond just through the website. so, as you can see here, it's got their state, their province where they're located, their street address, their name, that sort of thing, and a bunch of us, a bunch of encryption data in there. now, in order to get this on Shopify + store, after you add your domain name in there, you'll need to request it to be, and then it takes me eight hours for them to go and verify it and make sure that you have a proper certificate that's been added to your store. however, if you're just working on a regular Shopify course tour, simply add your domain name and away it goes. so thanks for coming by, you guys. How to secure your Shopify store: different levels of access and staff apps.

hi Angelina's here and today we are going to tok about the security issue, which is really crucial for all the store holders. it's the issue of providing access to your store, and what is really good about Shopify that it provides a really great and convenient tool for given access of different levels to different users, and I would really recommend you to watch this video thoroughly and then to check all the XS that you provided earlier. so let's start. you can find all the XS that you provided in the settings account section, and here you can see that I haven't provided any access to anyone earlier. but as for your store, you can find some and just make sure that the success is still necessary and feel free to delete it. if it is not, then I'm going to create a staff account. you can use this option to provide access to some stuff of your company, for example, a Content Manager, or to provide access for some apps for troubleshooting, almost something like this. so I've entered all the necessary information. all you need to know is the email address which you are providing access to. then you see this option. you can provide full access, but you don't have to and it is completely insecure. so just look through the options and the sections of the access that you can provide. I will choose blog posts and pages, navigation and marketing and discounts. that's all. now we can send the invite. now it is marked that the invitation has been sent and your content manager will receive an email, and then all the content manager has to do is to confirm that he can create the account. then click the button. we need to enter the password and the phone number if it is necessary, and then your content manager is creating an account. now. we went earlier store, as we are content manager who just received the excess, and we can see that only the marketing, discounts, lock posts, pages and navigation sections are available to this manager. he can't access orders, products. they are completely unavailable and that's great. and now I've logged in as an account owner and I consider the content manager has already logged into my store. and let's check the permissions. you can see that there are a lot of settings and you can always configure them and change the access, for example, provide access to other sections or delete some access. you can also deactivate the staff account for some time or delete it completely. let's deactivate it. and now let's tok about the access request from the apps that you are using. for example, it can be the issue of tiknical support, when you have some troubles and the developers of the app have to troubleshoot them and in this case they can request access from the special account. then they have and you receive an email notification and go following the link. then you will see something like this: here we can see the really good form requiring the excess. it only requires it access to the products and navigation sections. and again, please make sure that the app developers don't require the full access to your store. it's not necessary at all. then you can again accept, request or reject it if you don't like it. so now the access for the app developer is created and the good thing is that you can see the last time when developers locked into your store, so you can check if they're actually working on your problem or not. and now I again recommend you to check all the XS that you've provided to some companies, and if the last time was just recently, then just make sure you are still communicating with this company. we finished for today. remember that security really matters, so you should always keep an eye on it. then you can offer some ideas or suggestions in the comments to our video, and we will be really glad to see them. if some issue in setting up a Shopify store gets you puzzled, then we'll be happy to help you. so like our video, subscribe and see you later.

so when you guys do get disputes, depending on what it's done from, so if it's done through paypal, it's a different process if the customer actually called their bank and that order was fulfilled through shopify. so i wanted to put y'all on some apps that are really, really life-changing for your store in this department, in terms of chargebacks, disputes and things like that. if you want to block an ip address- which i recommend people will order from your website- and then file a chargeback, go, place another order under a different email and do the same thing. but nah, no, you can't. no, you won't block blocks. all right, they're asking for the queen. i'm a baptist. [Music]- stupid, what is up, boss? babes, welcome back to another video. if you are new here, my name is jess anya. the x is silent and anya is pronounced like kanye, without the k. today we are going to be toking about something we all be dealing with. honey is such a headache. it never gets old. you will never get used to it. it's going to always feel the same way, and those are scammers in chargebacks and frauds, and people who order from your website call a bank and tell them that they did not do it, and i'm here to tell you how to actually protect your business from those people. so i'm going to be toking about shopify. you know i always tok about shopify here on this channel and if you don't know, now you know- and some of the preventative measures that you can actually put in place for your store. it takes a lot off your plate if you implement what i'm about to tell y'all. okay, so let's go ahead and dive into it. so, first things first, let's tok about you just a little bit. okay, very important that y'all have a reasonable and posted refund policy. not offering people refunds and no exchanges is, for one, is bad business. it looks very unprofessional, but it also makes people want to just call their banks to dispute. is they have a problem with their order? so i absolutely get it. some businesses, hey, that's just a policy. so, for example, if you're selling digital products or made to order products, i 100 get it, no refunds. but if you selling something that you know, you can refund people if it's not right. that's exactly what you should do. you want to have a reasonable policy. so that's first and foremost. which brings me to my next point is to overdo the information with your faqs, y'all, if you've been in business for a while, you've learned that people do not read okay, so you cannot just have it in one place, in one place only. that is not good enough. you have to continue to put it in their face. hey, this is our policy, our policy, our policy. so you want to have your faq page. you may even have a faq widget on your site, you want to have it at your checkout, you want to have it in the order confirmation emails. consistently put it in their face, because this is going to help you in the long run if they so choose to open a dispute for that order. another thing i see a lot of businesses do way too often is leave their product description empty, which is a huge red flag. and on top of that, that's a great opportunity for you to get a lot more detail about your product, because let's say, for example, you're selling clothes and somebody orders something and it doesn't fit, but you didn't have a size chart. you didn't show what size the model was wearing in the description. you didn't add if it was stretchy or not in the description. so it's very important for y'all to be as detailed as possible of what that actual product is about. use copy to sell. that is what the product descriptions are for: to describe the product. don't leave it empty. y'all don't leave it empty. so this is another reason why people may buy something and then when they get it is not what they were expecting because you weren't descriptive enough. so, as you all may already know, shopify has a built-in feature with the website. if someone is a medium risk order or high risk fraud order, which is a great free tool to use and don't ignore it, do not ignore it y'all. if you see an order come through with that big old red high risk, do not fulfill that order. do not ship that order. what you want to do is reach out to that customer requesting a little bit more info. or, hey, maybe just cancel the order. if you got a lot of orders, you don't even feel like dealing with it- your prerogative. but what i recommend is just reaching out to that customer like, hey, we're going to need a little bit more information from you to go ahead and process your order. could you please confirm the billing address in the last four of the card used for this order? and if they do that, then you can move forward. if they don't, then just go ahead and cancel it, don't worry about it, and i would even go ahead and block that person from purchasing ever again, and i'm going to tok to y'all a little bit more about that in the video. so i wanted to put y'all on some apps that are really, really life-changing for your store in this department, in terms of charge bags, disputes and things like that. so the first app you're going to want to have to download. i've toked about this app in the past and it's terms and conditions, so this app allows you to require your customers to read and confirm your terms and conditions before they can continue to check out. now this is so dope because the app will actually allow you to go back in to see when they selected it, the date and the time, so they can be like: oh well, i didn't see that, i didn't read that. well, we got you right here, ms tina. we got you right here. fine, friend, you agreed to these terms on this day at this time, okay, and this is just additional proof. so when you guys do get disputes, depending on what it's done from, so if it's done through paypal, it's a different process if the customer actually called their bank and that order was fulfilled through shopify. shopify disputes are by far my least favorite 100 because i already have a huge rapport with paypal from doing business with them for like eight years with the same account. so i have paypal seller protection. so anytime somebody disputes something to paypal, paypal automatikally is granting it to me like i don't have to really do anything but shopify. honey, it's a process and it can take up to a month and a half and they directly take the money out of your account until the decision has been made whether it's going to be in the customer's favor or your favor. so it's definitely my absolute least favorite. so you want to make sure you're going above and beyond to get the minimum amount of disputes as possible on your shopify store. okay, side note, y'all, if you need help building your shopify store- building a actual profitable shopify store that people will trust to shop with you- i have a master class on it. you can check the description. there's also a code in the description that you can enter for money off your order. you're welcome. the next app i want y'all to check out is this app called no fraud. so this app no fraud- actually uses ai tiknology. that's a little bit more advanced in this department than the regular infrastructure that shopify uses to actually vent through customers, and if an order is high risk, they're going to let you know. you can also set it up to cancel the order automatikally. on top of that, my favorite feature from this app is they will reimburse you for all charge backs. that's how much they believe in their tiknology. if they don't catch a potential fraud order and it goes through anyway and somebody literally files a charge back, they're going to give you 100 reimbursement. i do recommend adding a tracking app to your site as well, just so customers can stay updated and track their orders automatikally. you don't want to have to go through them emailing back and forth: hey, where's my order? hey, what's the update? hey, have it shipped? no, if you have a tracking app on your site, that can put their mind at ease even more so. all they have to do is enter their information and they can see exactly what's going on in real time. and last but certainly not least, y'all it'.
