Stephen Slater:

Stephen Slater, Product Manager with Keysight, started off the presentation by discussing the need for high-performance computing (HPC) in today's complex designs. He outlined the problems faced by three types of designers- antenna designer, mimic module designer, and signal integrity engineer- and how electromagnetic simulation is becoming more time-consuming.

Benefits of HPC:

Stephen explained that by using HPC, designers can compress the time it takes to simulate and reduce risk while enjoying higher confidence at design sign-off. He shared an example of a flagship example where the power of cloud HPC was used to solve a Xilinx evaluation board, which led to an 83% reduction in extraction time.

Different HPC Deployments:

Stephen then discussed different HPC deployments that designers might have access to, including a single large machine, on-premise cluster, company's own private cloud set up for EDA simulation, and hybrid cloud.

Nimbix:

Stephen introduced Nimbix as their partner and explained that it provides scalable hardware resources in the cloud with a single turnkey approach. He discussed the benefits of using Nimbix, such as access to scalable hardware resources and pay-per-use for the hardware that is needed.

Design Cloud Sim Service:

Dan Schwarz, Applications Engineer at Keysight Technologies, then took over and discussed different solver technologies, such as Momentum and FEM. He explained that the most amount of time for the entire solve is spent on the frequency sweeps.

Dan then shared two case studies to demonstrate the efficiency of the HPC solutions. The first case study was about a complex LO converter module in an analyzer, and the second case study was about a 3D antenna simulation.

You may have received an entitlement certificate after a purchase, and that purchase may have been for software that runs on a PC or instrument. It may also be for instrument options, etc. But whatever the feature is, you'll get something that looks like this – an entitlement certificate.

Key Points:

- The main areas of the entitlement certificate are the product that you purchased and the quantity that you have purchased.

- Other key areas of the entitlement certificate and ones to know for doing the redemption process are the Keysight order number and the certificate number.

- To redeem a license using the Keysight Software Manager, you need the entitlement certificates, a KSM profile, and the host ID or PC instrument that it will be installed in.

- Adding your entitlement to your Keysight Software Manager profile is basically two steps with a few subparts.

- The first step in redeeming your entitlement certificate is to go to your entitlement certificate and log on to the website contained in the instructions in this certificate.

- Once you're in Keysight Software Manager, you can add a certificate to your profile by clicking on the bubble You can add a new certificate and entering your order number and certificate number from the entitlement certificate itself.

- You can then request new licenses by clicking on the bubble Request new licenses and selecting the licenses you want to assign to the host ID or PC instrument.

- After requesting licenses, you will receive an email with your license files attached and instructions on how to install them.

Encryption How To Get The Models You Need From Your IC Vendors Part 1

- HSPICE net list encrypted with Synopsys's encryption key (encrypted SPICE flow)

Steps to Get Models:

- Go to Agilent.com and find EEsof Support and the Knowledge Center

- Download the binaries for ADS and RFIP Encoder for your platform and the trial license

- Fill out the form to get the evaluation license

- Install ADS and put the license in the license folder

- Create a new project in ADS and use the HSPICE Compatibility Component Wizard to browse for and name the HSPICE file

- Expose some nodes in the symbol in numerical order and choose to generate a custom symbol or use the default

- Pass parameters in the ADS design into the HSPICE net list if needed

- Drop the symbol into the blank design and add ports in the order of the pins

- Rotate and save the PINs

- Use the Encode Design tool to encode the design as a ZIP file with a meaningful name and description, and provide your name

- Verify the encoded file before distribution

- Encrypted models are the solution to the IC vendors dilemma

- There are three options for getting hold of an encrypted HSPICE net list

- Follow the steps to get the models you need and verify them before distribution
