00:00:14 00:00:18 the yoga mat to sleep on
00:00:16 00:00:20 well for someone that might be the
00:00:18 00:00:20 definition of minimalism and that might
00:00:20 00:00:22 be an
00:00:20 00:00:24 environment that they thrive in however
00:00:22 00:00:27 what i've come to learn over the last
00:00:24 00:00:27 three to four years of really practiking
00:00:27 00:00:30 certain
00:00:27 00:00:32 aspects of minimalism is that everybody
00:00:30 00:00:34 is different and your environment the
00:00:32 00:00:36 home base where you live where you rest
00:00:34 00:00:38 your head maybe it's on a pillow maybe
00:00:36 00:00:39 it's not i'm not here to judge
00:00:38 00:00:41 but wherever you rest your head at night
00:00:39 00:00:43 it's a very important environment
00:00:41 00:00:44 there's no doubting that there's no
00:00:43 00:00:45 argument there
00:00:44 00:00:47 so everybody's different i just want to
00:00:45 00:00:47 make that very clear and for the first
00:00:47 00:00:50 time ever
00:00:47 00:00:51 i would like to open the door not only
00:00:50 00:00:52 to the front of my house
00:00:51 00:00:54 but through every single room in my
00:00:52 00:00:57 house including my personal bedroom
00:00:54 00:00:58 my bathroom my closet i want to walk you
00:00:57 00:01:00 through this just because i feel like
00:00:58 00:01:01 it's an important topic
00:01:00 00:01:04 to tok about because a lot of people
00:01:01 00:01:06 see the financial minimalism topics
00:01:04 00:01:07 versus just minimalism and there is a
00:01:06 00:01:09 difference there
00:01:07 00:01:10 so today i want to take you through my 6
00:01:09 00:01:13 200 square foot
00:01:10 00:01:15 six bedroom five bathroom home on almost
00:01:13 00:01:16 an acre of land in arizona
00:01:15 00:01:18 that i paid nearly a million dollars for
00:01:16 00:01:19 and i want to explain when you'll see it
00:01:18 00:01:21 very obviously
00:01:19 00:01:23 why the home is pretty much empty now
00:01:21 00:01:23 first of all i do just want to make it
00:01:23 00:01:25 very clear
00:01:23 00:01:27 this is a ridiculous square footage and
00:01:25 00:01:29 from just a financial perspective
00:01:27 00:01:31 this was an investment property when i
00:01:29 00:01:33 was personally searching for a house
00:01:31 00:01:34 i wanted something about half this size
00:01:33 00:01:36 so yes it's a lot of space
00:01:34 00:01:38 but all the previous places i've stayed
00:01:36 00:01:41 at my last house the two condos i had
00:01:38 00:01:42 they've all looked the exact same and
00:01:41 00:01:44 you're about to see
00:01:42 00:01:45 exactly how i structure buying furniture
00:01:44 00:01:46 and what i actually use
00:01:45 00:01:48 because everything has some sort of
00:01:46 00:01:50 purpose it doesn't have to be practikal
00:01:48 00:01:52 that purpose could be creating a cool
00:01:50 00:01:54 atmosphere or a fun vibe
00:01:52 00:01:56 but you're about to see that all right
00:01:54 00:01:58 oh and make sure to drop a like
00:01:56 00:01:59 so for starters i fell in love with the
00:01:58 00:02:00 neighborhood when i first came and
00:01:59 00:02:02 looked at the house and then just kind
00:02:00 00:02:04 of seen the vibe being able to pick
00:02:02 00:02:06 fruit off the trees
00:02:04 00:02:07 have water flowing there's a waterfall
00:02:06 00:02:10 out in the front of the house
00:02:07 00:02:11 but just the fact that i am in arizona
00:02:10 00:02:13 and in this entire neighborhood there's
00:02:11 00:02:15 not a single cactus
00:02:13 00:02:16 that was a big selling point for me you
00:02:15 00:02:17 know it doesn't really feel like the
00:02:16 00:02:19 desert so
00:02:17 00:02:21 walking in i was i painted the entire
00:02:19 00:02:22 house when i got it you're greeted by
00:02:21 00:02:24 kind of a formal
00:02:22 00:02:25 entry room off to the left that is
00:02:24 00:02:27 completely empty i wouldn't even know
00:02:25 00:02:29 what to put there maybe a pool table
00:02:27 00:02:30 the dining room empty i don't really
00:02:29 00:02:32 have people over to eat dinner or
00:02:30 00:02:34 anything and i know that it wouldn't get
00:02:32 00:02:36 used so there's no purpose in buying it
00:02:34 00:02:37 you kind of saw a little outdoor living
00:02:36 00:02:39 space now we're entering towards the
00:02:37 00:02:42 kitchen there's a half bath
00:02:39 00:02:42 uh not many people use that but enter in
00:02:42 00:02:44 the kitchen
00:02:42 00:02:46 i'll kind of show you some of the stuff
00:02:44 00:02:48 here in the cabinets i just have a few
00:02:46 00:02:49 simple pots and pans things that i use
00:02:48 00:02:51 on a daily basis
00:02:49 00:02:53 some basic stuff on the counter i didn't
00:02:51 00:02:54 try to clean up or make this fake this
00:02:53 00:02:55 is just what my house looks like on a
00:02:54 00:02:58 day-to-day basis
00:02:55 00:03:00 some spatulas some get used more than
00:02:58 00:03:00 others take a quick peek in the fridge
00:03:00 00:03:02 just some food
00:03:00 00:03:04 meal prep some fruits and eggs and
00:03:02 00:03:05 whatnot
00:03:04 00:03:07 keep it pretty simple there i just got
00:03:05 00:03:08 back into town two days ago so it's
00:03:07 00:03:11 pretty empty
00:03:08 00:03:12 uh some protein powder rice cooker empty
00:03:11 00:03:14 little
00:03:12 00:03:16 breakfast nook area i got some dumbbells
00:03:14 00:03:18 there now this couch i actually bought a
00:03:16 00:03:19 little over two years ago it's been with
00:03:18 00:03:21 me for a long time absolutely great
00:03:19 00:03:23 purchase got a standing desk there
00:03:21 00:03:24 that's just an extra one nobody really
00:03:23 00:03:26 uses
00:03:24 00:03:28 we'll take a look at the at the yard
00:03:26 00:03:29 later in this little walk through here
00:03:28 00:03:31 there's not much to show there
00:03:29 00:03:33 i've got a chair in front of the fire
00:03:31 00:03:34 which is nice but now let's jump back
00:03:33 00:03:36 over towards my wing which is where
00:03:34 00:03:38 we're sitting right now
00:03:36 00:03:39 we come over here as you see uh you pass
00:03:38 00:03:41 the front door
00:03:39 00:03:43 and then off to the right is it's not
00:03:41 00:03:44 tiknically a bedroom because there's no
00:03:43 00:03:45 closet but this is what i use is my
00:03:44 00:03:46 office
00:03:45 00:03:49 this is actually where i'm sitting right
00:03:46 00:03:50 now hello yeah you know so i just kind
00:03:49 00:03:51 of sit here
00:03:50 00:03:53 film my videos i work on the other side
00:03:51 00:03:55 and i have everything that i need in
00:03:53 00:03:57 there a couple simple things on the wall
00:03:55 00:03:58 you'll notike that my office is the most
00:03:57 00:03:59 furnished out of anywhere
00:03:58 00:04:01 because that is where i spend the most
00:03:59 00:04:02 amount of time especially since i got
00:04:01 00:04:04 rid of my office space and now i'm
00:04:02 00:04:06 working exclusively from home
00:04:04 00:04:08 so now walking into my bedroom this is a
00:04:06 00:04:10 big deal i've never showed this before
00:04:08 00:04:12 the newest addition that i just made is
00:04:10 00:04:14 this huge couch that i got for a killer
00:04:12 00:04:14 deal so whenever i go to sell it i'll
00:04:14 00:04:16 make
00:04:14 00:04:18 some good money on that actually but
00:04:16 00:04:21 just a huge sectional couch
00:04:18 00:04:23 and a bed no bed frame three pillows big
00:04:21 00:04:25 empty space over here
00:04:23 00:04:27 i just keep uh two of my foam rollers
00:04:25 00:04:28 i've had some back injuries before so
00:04:27 00:04:32 some foam rollers there
00:04:28 00:04:33 they get used religiously there is a tv
00:04:32 00:04:35 on the wall that doesn't get used much i
00:04:33 00:04:37 just had one tv and that's
00:04:35 00:04:40 that's it got my protector my fully
00:04:37 00:04:42 specked out ar-15 there as well as some
00:04:40 00:04:44 vinyl records some good good vibes going
00:04:42 00:04:46 on there just for the decor
00:04:44 00:04:47 and that's about it now we'll walk over
00:04:46 00:04:49 to my bathroom i'm not one to like
00:04:47 00:04:51 invade someone's personal space but
00:04:49 00:04:52 let me give you a simple quick tour
00:04:51 00:04:54 laundry hamper
00:04:52 00:04:56 nice and simple there's kind of a his
00:04:54 00:04:59 and her side hello there i am
00:04:56 00:05:01 make sure to drop a like down below um
00:04:59 00:05:03 but yeah so just kind of simple i mean
00:05:01 00:05:05 it's a normal bathroom there it's large
00:05:03 00:05:07 the closets where things get ridiculous
00:05:05 00:05:09 i know it's huge i don't really have a
00:05:07 00:05:10 lot of clothes or stuff and i just wear
00:05:09 00:05:12 the same thing every day
00:05:10 00:05:13 so most of it's just for show now this
00:05:12 00:05:15 cabinet i actually built
00:05:13 00:05:17 here and there's an entire extra hidden
00:05:15 00:05:18 room that's not done the handle is not
00:05:17 00:05:19 done it's gonna be hidden behind a book
00:05:18 00:05:21 and stuff but
00:05:19 00:05:22 an entire secret room hidden behind here
00:05:21 00:05:23 which was gonna become just like a gun
00:05:22 00:05:25 room for me
00:05:23 00:05:27 personally kind of like uh i don't want
00:05:25 00:05:28 to call it a panic room but just guns
00:05:27 00:05:29 and my parachutes and stuff on the wall
00:05:28 00:05:30 so
00:05:29 00:05:32 that was going to be an extra little
00:05:30 00:05:33 space for myself but just haven't gotten
00:05:32 00:05:35 around to it
00:05:33 00:05:37 so no big deal just some stuff there a
00:05:35 00:05:39 normal normal room
00:05:37 00:05:40 and then we walk on out of there up over
00:05:39 00:05:42 to the left
00:05:40 00:05:44 the office again where i'm currently
00:05:42 00:05:46 sitting and so that's kind of
00:05:44 00:05:48 my side right you saw into the main area
00:05:46 00:05:50 and you saw my side of the house
00:05:48 00:05:52 now when i've lived at big homes before
00:05:50 00:05:54 i've always had multiple roommates so
00:05:52 00:05:55 the cost in terms of a financial
00:05:54 00:05:57 perspective
00:05:55 00:05:58 has always been offset greatly now this
00:05:57 00:06:01 home i did purchase
00:05:58 00:06:02 it is financed however i do have one
00:06:01 00:06:04 person living with me and so that
00:06:02 00:06:06 greatly offsets the cost
00:06:04 00:06:07 now i will make a video toking about
00:06:06 00:06:08 how i actually from a financial
00:06:07 00:06:10 perspective
00:06:08 00:06:11 all the numbers how this home is
00:06:10 00:06:13 actually almost free
00:06:11 00:06:15 in terms of house hacking however it has
00:06:13 00:06:18 the perfect layout for three people
00:06:15 00:06:19 i just don't have three friends so at
00:06:18 00:06:22 least that i would want living here
00:06:19 00:06:23 so as we continue on over here we walk
00:06:22 00:06:25 through the dining room you can kind of
00:06:23 00:06:26 see the kitchen off to the right
00:06:25 00:06:28 go through the pantry i'm sorry for any
00:06:26 00:06:30 blurry video i just picked up a new
00:06:28 00:06:31 camera i haven't dialed it in yet
00:06:30 00:06:33 off to uh i guess straight ahead you got
00:06:31 00:06:35 the laundry room super simple
00:06:33 00:06:36 off to the left is where the garage is
00:06:35 00:06:39 kind of my favorite little part of the
00:06:36 00:06:40 house just a three-car garage
00:06:39 00:06:42 a lot of people might say it's not
00:06:40 00:06:43 minimal because you got all these cars
00:06:42 00:06:44 but um only two only two of these are
00:06:43 00:06:46 mine
00:06:44 00:06:48 and yeah i do have cars and that's more
00:06:46 00:06:49 like a financial topic and those are of
00:06:48 00:06:50 great value to me
00:06:49 00:06:52 because i'm a car person other people
00:06:50 00:06:54 are not so there's my shoes
00:06:52 00:06:56 i'm not a shoe or a clothing person you
00:06:54 00:06:58 might be able to tell off to the left
00:06:56 00:07:00 it's just an additional bedroom here
00:06:58 00:07:02 this is where my friend lives it's
00:07:00 00:07:03 the only other room that has a full
00:07:02 00:07:06 walk-in bath as well
00:07:03 00:07:07 it's an entire ensuite so that's cool
00:07:06 00:07:09 over to the left just an empty area the
00:07:07 00:07:11 previous owners they had like a music
00:07:09 00:07:12 room there i might put a poker table at
00:07:11 00:07:14 some point but
00:07:12 00:07:15 two rooms one is empty on this side of
00:07:14 00:07:16 the house the other is an office for my
00:07:15 00:07:18 friend so
00:07:16 00:07:20 two rooms there as well as a full
00:07:18 00:07:22 separate bath there that's detached
00:07:20 00:07:24 oh look there's that guy again make sure
00:07:22 00:07:25 to drop a like
00:07:24 00:07:27 and yeah so you can just kind of see the
00:07:25 00:07:29 home is very separated so my wing is
00:07:27 00:07:31 completely on the other side of the
00:07:29 00:07:34 house separated by that outdoor space
00:07:31 00:07:36 now we head on downstairs the basement i
00:07:34 00:07:37 love basements i grew up in the basement
00:07:36 00:07:39 they're nice and you know
00:07:37 00:07:41 colder air normally but it's completely
00:07:39 00:07:42 empty down here there's a full mini bar
00:07:41 00:07:44 which is cool
00:07:42 00:07:45 got some extra fireworks left over from
00:07:44 00:07:47 the fourth of july
00:07:45 00:07:49 and then a secondary office that already
00:07:47 00:07:50 had cabinets really nice cherry oak all
00:07:49 00:07:52 built in here
00:07:50 00:07:53 and uh yeah unfortunately doesn't get
00:07:52 00:07:55 used man make sure to drop a like
00:07:53 00:07:56 there's that guy telling you to do it
00:07:55 00:07:58 again
00:07:56 00:07:59 but you have this bathroom which i redid
00:07:58 00:08:01 to the right
00:07:59 00:08:03 when i first purchased the property this
00:08:01 00:08:04 one was kind of destroyed there's a wine
00:08:03 00:08:06 cooler
00:08:04 00:08:07 one for an entire wine cellar i guess
00:08:06 00:08:09 unfortunately i don't drink so that
00:08:07 00:08:11 thing is empty and turned off
00:08:09 00:08:13 and then an additional room down here i
00:08:11 00:08:15 just kind of use it as storage for some
00:08:13 00:08:16 extra stuff that i've just accumulated
00:08:15 00:08:18 so
00:08:16 00:08:19 yeah that's everything in the house
00:08:18 00:08:21 there's not really a whole lot of things
00:08:19 00:08:23 in here as you'll notike
00:08:21 00:08:25 i really care about two places i care
00:08:23 00:08:26 about my room right because that's an
00:08:25 00:08:28 environment i
00:08:26 00:08:29 rarely spend any additional time in
00:08:28 00:08:31 there except for
00:08:29 00:08:32 when i'm sleeping i go in there i'm
00:08:31 00:08:35 asleep within 10 to 15 minutes
00:08:32 00:08:36 i use my foam roller before i go to bed
00:08:35 00:08:38 same deal in the morning as soon as i
00:08:36 00:08:39 wake up i instantly get out of bed i
00:08:38 00:08:41 make my bed
00:08:39 00:08:42 i use the foam roller and i leave i go
00:08:41 00:08:43 into the bathroom brush my teeth if i
00:08:42 00:08:45 need a shower i shower
00:08:43 00:08:47 and i go instantly into my office that's
00:08:45 00:08:48 just how my day is structured i really
00:08:47 00:08:50 try to stay
00:08:48 00:08:52 out of my room and so there's a lot of
00:08:50 00:08:54 time spent here in my office
00:08:52 00:08:56 and so i've furnished this it's nothing
00:08:54 00:08:56 extravagant but all these things are
00:08:56 00:08:59 stuff that i
00:08:56 00:09:00 use so that's why those two locations
00:08:59 00:09:02 are super important to me
00:09:00 00:09:04 and i don't spend any time there's no
00:09:02 00:09:05 never any time really that i spend
00:09:04 00:09:07 sitting out on my main couch
00:09:05 00:09:08 except for when i have people over so
00:09:07 00:09:10 you know maybe two or three times a
00:09:08 00:09:10 month i'll have a couple friends over
00:09:10 00:09:13 and we just grill
00:09:10 00:09:14 barbecue swim have a good time hit the
00:09:13 00:09:15 hot tub and so that's kind of where that
00:09:14 00:09:17 is for
00:09:15 00:09:18 plus i've owned that couch for a long
00:09:17 00:09:19 time so i just kind of stik it out
00:09:18 00:09:20 there
00:09:19 00:09:22 and it can be used and get dirty you
00:09:20 00:09:24 know people spill stuff on it it's not
00:09:22 00:09:25 really a big deal again this property is
00:09:24 00:09:27 a lot bigger than i would have normally
00:09:25 00:09:28 wanted but that's just from the
00:09:27 00:09:30 financial investment perspective
00:09:28 00:09:32 so now let's take a look at the exterior
00:09:30 00:09:33 which is kind of one thing that sold me
00:09:32 00:09:34 on the home
00:09:33 00:09:36 we'll just take a look at the main
00:09:34 00:09:37 backyard there's whole side yards with
00:09:36 00:09:39 gardens and stuff and the front is
00:09:37 00:09:40 actually really large
00:09:39 00:09:42 but i do spend a decent amount of time
00:09:40 00:09:44 sitting outside on the table outside
00:09:42 00:09:46 working or working at the bar stool
00:09:44 00:09:48 barbecuing some food on the grill
00:09:46 00:09:50 maybe occasionally once a week in the
00:09:48 00:09:52 hot tub for an hour or so at night
00:09:50 00:09:53 but i just kind of like to be outside i
00:09:52 00:09:55 really love nature and being outside in
00:09:53 00:09:56 that environment so
00:09:55 00:09:58 it was super important for me to have a
00:09:56 00:09:59 yard that kind of reflected that and i
00:09:58 00:10:01 was willing to pay more for this space
00:09:59 00:10:04 but as you'll notike it's also just more
00:10:01 00:10:05 so empty space so as we walk outside
00:10:04 00:10:07 you'll notike uh my nice new winter
00:10:05 00:10:09 grass that i just got i was willing to
00:10:07 00:10:09 pay to do that just so the grass isn't
00:10:09 00:10:11 dead
00:10:09 00:10:12 nice green grass had this table out here
00:10:11 00:10:14 i actually negotiated
00:10:12 00:10:16 all of the outdoor furniture in with the
00:10:14 00:10:18 previous seller since he was moving into
00:10:16 00:10:18 a condo so i just had him throw that in
00:10:18 00:10:20 so
00:10:18 00:10:22 zero out of pocket there but that
00:10:20 00:10:23 furniture does get used actually the
00:10:22 00:10:25 trampoline i also didn't buy there's
00:10:23 00:10:26 that lemon i picked in the beginning of
00:10:25 00:10:28 the video
00:10:26 00:10:29 um and that's about it you know the yard
00:10:28 00:10:30 kind of goes you'll see straight ahead
00:10:29 00:10:32 there's that pocket over there
00:10:30 00:10:34 next to the master bedroom in the office
00:10:32 00:10:35 where i personally am sitting it's
00:10:34 00:10:37 literally right outside
00:10:35 00:10:38 but there's just a lot of space there's
00:10:37 00:10:40 a lot of different spots to do stuff
00:10:38 00:10:42 and that's my home you'll notike it's
00:10:40 00:10:43 fairly empty up until i get i've had
00:10:42 00:10:46 this house for five months
00:10:43 00:10:47 it wasn't until a week ago that that
00:10:46 00:10:48 couch went in my bedroom so before that
00:10:47 00:10:50 it was literally just
00:10:48 00:10:52 a gun and a bed that's that's really in
00:10:50 00:10:54 the foam rollers that's all you need so
00:10:52 00:10:56 i try to keep it super simple and the
00:10:54 00:10:57 reason i'm making this video
00:10:56 00:10:59 opening up the door to my home showing
00:10:57 00:11:01 you weird stuff like inside my bathroom
00:10:59 00:11:03 i mean come on that's a little weird
00:11:01 00:11:04 but i wanted to show this just to show
00:11:03 00:11:06 that it really doesn't matter what
00:11:04 00:11:08 situation you're in
00:11:06 00:11:09 you just need to conform it to your
00:11:08 00:11:11 environment so i've lived in a
00:11:09 00:11:12 two-bedroom apartment before just by
00:11:11 00:11:14 myself
00:11:12 00:11:16 one bedroom was literally empty all it
00:11:14 00:11:18 had was a foam roller that was my
00:11:16 00:11:20 stretching foam rolling room right
00:11:18 00:11:21 so i just kind of keep things simple
00:11:20 00:11:23 everybody's different you might
00:11:21 00:11:25 seriously value having a miniature
00:11:23 00:11:27 basketball hoop game in the room
00:11:25 00:11:29 there you go then buy it because if you
00:11:27 00:11:29 value that and that helps your
00:11:29 00:11:31 environment
00:11:29 00:11:32 then all for it i've recently been
00:11:31 00:11:34 considering getting one of those like
00:11:32 00:11:35 racing simulators with a full stik
00:11:34 00:11:36 shift
00:11:35 00:11:38 you know steering wheel everything vr
00:11:36 00:11:40 maybe like the huge tv
00:11:38 00:11:42 a full setup for that because i might
00:11:40 00:11:44 value that if i'm going to use it so
00:11:42 00:11:46 you just kind of have to do what works
00:11:44 00:11:47 for you and this is my home
00:11:46 00:11:49 and i hope it's not too personal opening
00:11:47 00:11:50 that up but i hope i don't get roasted
00:11:49 00:11:51 for it
00:11:50 00:11:53 but it's empty and it does the trick for
00:11:51 00:11:55 me it works for me
00:11:53 00:11:57 i have absolutely no need to not only
00:11:55 00:11:58 spend the money which isn't the hugest
00:11:57 00:11:59 issue
00:11:58 00:12:02 spend the money on like a dining room
00:11:59 00:12:04 table or a little breakfast table for
00:12:02 00:12:05 that little nook there that stiks out
00:12:04 00:12:07 of the house
00:12:05 00:12:08 it's not that i'd have to go spend the
00:12:07 00:12:11 money it's that would take
00:12:08 00:12:13 time to do a few things figure out what
00:12:11 00:12:14 i want what color go shop for it find it
00:12:13 00:12:16 give it get it delivered
00:12:14 00:12:18 have it set up whether i'm doing it or
00:12:16 00:12:19 not i got to communicate with the people
00:12:18 00:12:21 and then make sure it's all correct
00:12:19 00:12:23 and then it's an entirely extra thing
00:12:21 00:12:24 whenever i pick up and leave that i have
00:12:23 00:12:26 to bring with me and i just don't like
00:12:24 00:12:28 to have a lot of that stuff around so
00:12:26 00:12:30 i keep it really simple i keep the homes
00:12:28 00:12:32 empty and light you guys might remember
00:12:30 00:12:33 my previous home which was the exact
00:12:32 00:12:35 same size
00:12:33 00:12:36 it was the same situation multiple rooms
