Why 95% of Shopify Stores FAIL (The Real Reason)
today i am going to explain the downfall of a ton of shopify and e-commerce store owners. i actually don't want this video to take a negative connotation at all, because that's not what this is about. in fact, this is not something that i see like is gonna happen. oh, like you know, ios does another change, so facebook ads are dead. this is not something that is going to happen. this is something that might have already knocked you out of the game with your first ecommerce store. i know i definitely did not do this on my first three. is there no wonder why? the fourth one was the one that actually started working, meaning i was paying attention to the numbers? so today i'm going to explain something very quick and then i'm going to give you the resource for it, or one that i believe is the best option. i've used probably dozens of them and spent a ton of money trying to figure that out. this is something that, if you don't do this, it really makes it difficult to succeed, especially in the e-commerce space, and i'll tell you why. many businesses- let's say you do consulting- your only expense is going to be any team members you have, any softwares you use, and that's probably it. other than that: business expenses. maybe you need to go buy a business phone or whatever. it's really pretty simple accounting the income that you're collecting from that would just be what your clients are paying you. well, in the e-commerce business there is thousands, tens of thousands of orders, sometimes every single week, coming in. so so many individual transactions at so many different prices, some using discounts, selling different products, different skus and variants and colors and sizes, and adding upsells and email marketing. there's so many different points just for the income, and then a ton for expenses from product fulfillment- all these things. so it makes it really difficult if you don't know your numbers. and i see a lot of people who, ultimately, you ask even a simple question like, hey, what's your net profit margin? and they can give you a range. most people can always give you range. how about 15? you need to know that. nobody's gonna take you seriously if you don't know that you. you know you can give different monthly numbers, last year's numbers. you know you're trailing 12, trailing three. you need to know these numbers. it really makes it so much easier to run the business. so what i'm going to show you inside of here is one of the apps that i believe to be the absolute best on the shopify app store in terms of tracking. it's not the most expensive app. it is also not the app that i have used the longest, so for many, many years- i've probably mentioned it in the course somewhere- i have used order metrics until about six months ago. the reason for that is because it was a great app. it gave me pretty accurate reporting. the problem with that was the data lagging and it wasn't too visual. there wasn't too many things you could do. you can't really generate in-depth reports. it's not really as in-depth as it should be for the price. it was a very expensive app. if you've ever had any app ever on the shopify store, you know that they're like 10, 20, maybe 30.. well, we're toking about like a 70 or 80 app. so that was something i was always kind of looking for an alternative. i actually thought of building one and then i came across be profit, so i want to throw up some screenshots right now. if you are a visual learner like me, this is something that will benefit you greatly. but no matter what you do, you can do this freehand if you want. it's going to waste a bunch of time and their app is really cheap. but check this out. all this in-depth reporting, intuitive charts, all these very specific things that you can do that allow you to go way deeper on your numbers: generating p? l reports, getting actual downloadable data- this is stuff that can save your cpa and your accountant literal time, which they're billing at a much higher rate than any shopify app is going to build. so you can make it a lot easier. one thing i like to do- and i do this inside each of my companies: i check my numbers every single day, unless i physically can't. so let's say, i am off grid camping for a week and i don't have wi-fi. that is the only time where i don't exactly know my numbers at the beginning and the end of every single day. i do that for a reason: because it allows you to track your progress, and especially when you're trying to get an e-commerce store off the ground, which might be roughly the position where you're starting from well, if you're trying to get that off the ground, you need to know your numbers. a lot of people go too long thinking they're around break even, but they're not factoring in other expenses and in my opinion, that's really the downfall of a bunch of people. they don't have a grip on their business and to me it shows just a lack of discipline, and so the reason i'm making this video is to show that and just explain- because i see this happen over and over again, even inside of our ecommerce course- is people who don't pay attention to the numbers. and if i had to put a pin on it- and i've done this before and said it before- the couple of students that i've seen who are by far like their success just astronomically takes off above anyone else's. i can name a few people that i've shown in the previous years on the channel samir leon. there's a bunch of them below. these are people who have made millions and millions of. i'm not toking about they made 30 000, like they're doing, you know, months where it's 500, 000, 700, 000, a million dollars consistently. all three of those guys individually. there's a dozen more guys and girls- mostly guys in this business, but, um, any others from my experience. but out of those three people, they are so, so number driven, not just with the reporting side of things, but also with their advertising. so skilled, and they've gotten so tiknical with their advertising skills, primarily on facebook, which is what i originally taught them and assisted them with in some way and that carries into every facet of the business and by being that discipline and knowing exactly what's going on, it almost allows you to not fail, because if something is not working, you will catch it right away. you'll find, you know, places where there's a little bit of slippage and where things are falling through the crack, and it just helps you optimize overall. if you know your numbers, you're going to do better than someone who does not. so ultimately, know your numbers. that is the purpose of this video. i don't want it to take up too much time, so if you want to check them out, you can see the top link in the description. there they're giving 25 off to the first 50 people, which is super cool. so much love to them for that, and that is just for me it's. i'll put up a screenshot of order metrics, if i can find one here. it's just a little more basic and, aside from the fact that their data lags, it's not exact real time. the software is not too accurate. it's just the difference in showcasing the numbers versus having actual intuitive graphs and way more options and downloadable spreadsheets and different things like that just gives you more flexibility and the fact that it costs less is obviously great. so, you know, we save about 29 a month, i believe, on their platform over multiple different stores, and then stores for clients of ours are saving money for that as well. it's something that we actively use then we recommend to clients as well inside of our advertising agency, and i would definitely recommend to anybody here who owns or is thinking of owning an e-commerce store on shopify. so be sure to check that out if you have any other problems with an e-commerce business that you are running right now or things you want to optimize, you know, stuff like this really, really helps you optimize and get that extra five percent, that extra six percent. that makes a huge difference when you're operating at scale. that can mean the difference between, hey, we profited 70 grand this month or we profited 120.. some

how do you charge sales tax on your shopify store, how do you pay your sales tax and all that stiky stuff coming up in today's video? hello, hello and welcome back to the channel. if you're new here and we don't know each other, you've never met me. my name is carrie, i'm the founder of shirt school and i created this channel to bring you the best strategy, secrets and hacks to grow your online t-shirt apparel or print-on-demand business, and in today's video, we're once again toking about my favorite thing in the world: taxes. if you're anything like me, taxes just give you a headache and they're just constantly frustrating and it just feels like i'm always paying taxes, so taxes really stink. but luckily, today we're going to specifically be toking about sales tax on your shopify store and i'm going to show you the easiest way that i've found to collect it and actually pay it to your state and how that all works. this is a question i get all the time like gotta be. one of the most asked questions is about sales tax and how to collect it, when to collect it and how to pay it- all that kind of stuff. so hopefully today i can bring some clarity to this question and help you out. the first thing i want you to know about sales tax is that you only pay sales tax on sales that you make inside your state. okay, that's one of the beauties that we have being an online business is that we don't just sell in our state, locally. we sell all over our country and maybe all over the world, and we don't have to pay sales tax on any sales outside of our state of residence. they call this sales tax nucleus, and so you have to pay taxes in any state in the united states where you have nucleus. now that basically means you just have to have like an office or some kind of residence there, right? so for most online businesses, especially small businesses, you're only going to have that nucleus in one state. wherever your business is located, even if you're running from your home, you're going to have to have a physical address, and so most likely for most of you, that's going to be inside your state only. to use amazon as an example, amazon has fulfillment centers and offices all around the united states, so amazon has to charge taxes in most states in the united states. that's why, even though amazon might be based in a certain place, they have, since they have facilities all over the us. they have to pay sales taxes on all the sales in those states, but luckily, since we have a small online business, you most likely only have that one location and so you're only going to pay sales tax on the sales that you make inside your state of residence. okay, the last thing i want to say- and then we'll get into the tutorial on actually how to set this all up in shopify- is that i've said it a lot and it's another question i get that's very related, and i recommend that you don't get your llc or your business licenses before you actually have some sales under your belt. right? i recommend that you get started on shopify without doing all of the the llc's and business licenses and sales tax permits. go ahead and get a few sales under your belt before you actually get your business license and you start paying your sales taxes. you want to make sure this is something that you want to continue with. so a lot of people really stress out when they're first starting and luckily you don't need to stress because you can actually claim: you know, put your under your social security number on your taxes. you can put your sales under there. you don't have to worry too much about sales tax when you're just starting out. but once you have some sales and you know that this is going to be something long-term for you and that you're going to stik with, you want to make sure you do get your llc, get your business license, get your sales tax permit and you start paying that sales tax each month. if you are just starting out, you're brand new and you're watching this video and you're like: i don't have my business license. okay, i recommend that you go ahead and set up sales tax in your shopify account so that you are collecting it. but go ahead and just set it aside. hold on to it, just in case you need to pay those sales taxes later. that's what i recommend. you don't necessarily have to do that, but even if you don't have your business license, i would just turn it on, collect it, put it aside, maybe in a separate account, so that you're not tempted to spend it, and just so you have it there in case you need to come back content. so if you want to see that, make sure you subscribe back to the video. okay, jumping into shopify inside of uh test account that i have here. i want to let you know setting up sales tax in shopify is actually a very simple process. a lot of people get really scared of how to do this, and it's- it's actually pretty simple. so all that you want to do is go to your settings here and you're going to want to go to taxes right there, right, and so we have, uh, some different options here. you're welcome to look through these and see if you you want to use any of those options. what we're going to want to do here in the united states, we're going to want to go right here and hit setup. okay. now the great thing about shopify is, once you set this up, it's going to automatikally calculate all the sales tax for all the counties in your state and it's just going to do all the hard work for you. so you're going to hit this collect sales tax button and you're going to select your state of residence- and i will select oklahoma, right here- and then we're going to simply hit collect sales tax. okay, you don't have to put in your uh, your actual sales tax id. you can go ahead and start collecting it without that and put that in later, as you saw me do there. so after you've done that, that's it. that's all you have to do in shopify. so after this first step, your customer is going to have to pay the additional sales tax on any purchases that they make if they are inside of your state. this is not a big deal. if somebody, if you go down to the convenience store, you buy something, you're going to expect to pay sales tax. so here in oklahoma, for instance, if i have somebody joe down the street that buys something from my store and he's in oklahoma and i'm in oklahoma, he's going to expect to, say, pay sales tax. so once you've set this up, your store is already collecting sales tax. you don't have to do anything else on your shopify store to actually collect the money. i do want to make sure you understand that shopify will not pay your sales taxes for you. they are simply going to collect it from the customer and give it to you and it's just going to get lumped in with the revenue that you're making and you're collecting from your sales. so you're going to have to actually put it aside and not spend it, so that you have the money there to pay your sales tax. step number two: you're going to want to find where you pay sales taxes inside of your state. now, keep in mind: you only want to do this if you already have your llc, your business license and your sales tax permit. okay, you have to have that before you can do this. so make sure you get your business license, get your sales tax permit. then you're going to want to find where you pay taxes. okay, here in oklahoma, it's okay, tap. this is the website i know most of you guys aren't watching from oklahoma, but just to give you an idea of what this looks like. now, here in oklahoma, we have to remit our sales tax every single month by the 20th of the month for the previous month. so all you're going to want to do here is simply get your- uh, your account set up with whatever, whatever website for your st.

How Many Products Should You Have On Your Shopify Store?
how many products should you have in your Shopify store? you guys, this is a question that I get asked all the time, most of the over DM, a lot in the YouTube comments. you know, whatever I ask people what questions they have, this is one that seems to always come up. the answer is simple: there is no answer. I'm gonna break that out for you, make it make a little bit more sense inside. it's a little nice presentation I put together for you guys, but essentially it's gonna depend on so many different variables. I'm gonna give you that outline so that you know how many because, depending on what you're doing, if you don't do it correctly it can mess you up if you don't have it structured the right way. so to keep that in mind, the amount of products: it's just kind of an image. you know you're really only going to be marketing the main couple of products, so keep that in mind as we dive inside of my computer. and also to know a lot of people focus on it's one minority task like how many products should I have, or should I do a good description for all of them, or should they all be free plus shipping, and not all of them on sale? those are, like each individual, small, like not as important tasks. right, you need to focus on the bigger problems, right? what's gonna make you money? just do that. rinse and repeat. focus on those main thing. so let me jump inside of my computer real quick. I'm gonna start breaking this down for you and hopefully have it make a little bit more sense, all right? so the first thing, before you can even add a product on your store, you need to first of all open your store, and there's actually two things you have to do. open the store, which is a free trial. you can do that, you know, 14 days, like shop guys, regular, standard trial. do that. and then open the app, which is also free. Oh, bear low. this is the app that's gonna allow you to link products from Aliexpress into your Shopify store. it's kind of the middleman piece there. that's what connects everything. so you need that set up first, and this video is not me going through and explaining products. I've made a ton of other videos on product research, so feel free to go back on the channel and check those out, but this right here, okay, the first thing I want to tok about this is huge because, if you're asking me just straight up. this is all you tell me: hey, how many products should I have in my Shopify store? I can't answer that. I don't know, first of all, your experience level, how you know how to do your marketing. I don't know what niche you're in do what are you trying to do to try to build a store or a brand? there's multiple things. let me simplify that for you as much as possible: general versus a nice store, which is better? okay, it's not necessarily this is better or this is better, it's what do you want to do? okay, if you're doing a general store- which I personally don't do, and I'm gonna explain why momentarily- that's where you have a lot of different products. you have headphones, you have microphones, you have iPhone cases, you have everything right, it's all sorts of different products. it's across the board. it's like a mini version of Walmart online. now, a niche store is where you just sell a- give this example- headphones. right, you have blue ones, you have red ones, you have green ones, you have this type of shape. you have this addition, its headphones. that is your niche, right, that's what you specialize in. so, for me, I personally do niche stores. that's pretty much all I do, unless it's becoming a little bit more of a brand, but at that point it's still not a general store. there's a lot of things that go into that, but for me, I pick products- okay- and again, this is not a product research video- but I don't pick a niche. I find what product I want to market first and then, based on that, I build a niche around it. so that's just something to think about. but if you're trying to build a general store, you're gonna have way more products with a niche store. I've started stores with just one product, just one product on the store, and it works because in the beginning you don't need to. this is what I'm really big on. you don't need to and you actually should not waste time. so if you're gonna spend, let's say, two, three weeks getting all these products, setting everything up and then tween descriptions for every single one, making sure the pictures and the variants are in the right order, everything, the pricee, making sure the apps horrify, yada, yada, that's so much time. you know I have products that are stores that are successful. just one product and eventually you add in more because you don't want to have yourself get to the point where you're trying to do a lot of filler products. that don't make sense and for those you don't know, a filler product is essentially when you're not marketing that product but it relates. so you put it on the store so that it, you know it, kind of fills it up. it fills up the store, makes it look more legit, whatever that means. so you don't want a ton of filler products, just get some products on there, whether it's one, whether it's ten, whether you're doing a general store with a hundred. I've done that. okay, I don't partikularly enjoy a lot of that, but I want to get things going as fast as possible. that's my goal. now the second thing here, real quick, this actually kind of bill off of what we're toking about. but your niche- okay, this is not general versus niche store. but if you're gonna do a niche store, what niche are you in? because some niches you're gonna need more filler products, some niches you don't need any. for example, if you have a phone case store, you're probably not just gonna have one case, you'll have some different options. but then there's stores where it's just one product, like a supplement store or something like that, where it can be just one product. okay, and feel free, you can always start out with just one product. that doesn't matter. add more on later, but you don't want to just over flood your store with the filler products. so it does kind of depend on the niche. now the third thing, real quick this: give me the biggest end of it. consider the marketing. this is what most people don't do. they do not consider what goes on with the marketing end of things. so, as I just said at the beginning, I'm not actually marketing all the products. if I have a general store with, you know, a hundred different products, I have adapters and all these pieces there's, there's no way I'm running ads for all of them. okay, maybe down the road. even that, I never market 100% of the products on the store, because that's what a filler product is. it just fills up that extra space. you're not, you're not really doing it, you're not marketing that. some people might buy it but that's not really your goal. so with the ton of products, you know, I usually focus on a main key. one to two. okay, especially when I'm starting. it's just one product. I might launch a second if I have some more time or work on another site. so the main one, two, let's say one, two, three, those main key products that I know are the winners on the site, based on the research of the products. so I focus on those and I'm not really running ads at all for the others. you know I might use them here and there and upsells and maybe an email marketing to test it out, but it's really only a couple of key products that I'm gonna be marketing. so one thing I want to recommend to you is: don't focus on the exact amount of products you have on your site. don't worry if you're like: oh, I have 12, but this youtuber said I should get 15. or Haydn said I should only have 5 and I, on the air, only have 5 and I have 20, or whatever. ok, people are gonna say different things because people have different recommendations for me. if I'm gonna go build a store- and don't let this follow you like you're rules, don't let my rules become your rules- I'd like to have five to 20 products. that is my range. will I do more? sure? will I do less? of course it's never an exact science, but that's one of those things where you don't want to stress over that. you don't want to wor.

at today is called hyu denim Co from a town in Wales called cardigan and they used to have the UK's biggest Gene manufacturer into around 2002. then it's shut down or Believers suppressed by another company. this was reinstarted here in around 2010 and really they sell jeans here and that's their specialty. as you can see, it's do one thing well and that's what this company does. so we take a look at their home page. here we can see something great they do is just really high quality photos all featuring their products subtly with really amazing scenery. you can see in their first photo they're kind of highlighting jeans as they're wearing white t-shirts to not attract attention to it. they're not showing their faces either. something great this Shopify store does as well is the r story page. they're telling the story about the genes, how the town was made and how they brought other Gene expertise into this new business, and if you click on any of these images you can dive into more depth. their town is about making jeans again. it's only a town- around 4 000 people- and 400 of them make jeans, so it's 35 000 pairs a week for three decades. so they wanted to bring that Manufacturing home again. so the factory was closed and left. so they wanted to bring it back and make use of that expertise, and so this is what they're doing. you also get images of their Factory here, on how things look, how things used to look. they're ethos, their user manual. they also have a 30 minute video showing scenery from the town here, which is, I think, a great touch, as it's going to personalize things a little bit more. so we just plugged in their site into similar web, which is going to give us an estimated idea of their traffic and revenue. so we can see it's under one million dollars. they have around 54 000 site visits. it's about 3.4 signages per visit. seven web is great too, because we get idea on their demographics, the audience interests, as well as which countries. we can see it's primarily in that Kingdom, which makes sense as that's where they're based out of. so next let's take a look at catnip. this was founded by cartoonist called Harry Hambly and his original character was this beans character here. each one almost merchandise online and selling different illustrations as well. this website does a great job with its colors. they're all vibrant, they kind of match the aesthetik of the clothing and the designs, and he has really high quality product imagery here, showing you exactly what the apparel is like, the designs. they quite a few different items of merch as well, save things from apparel to mugs to pins. overall quite a few items there and overall there's not too much categorization needed, as you have some overall for apparel, plushies and accessories, because when you go to shop all here there's not a ton of inventory items. this makes sense to why they chose to do that there. so overall, really cool inspiration as well. as if you're an artist and you want to sell items online, you can use Shopify, as it makes it really easy to do that overall. the annual revenue estimate isn't available on similar webs here, but we can see it has around 24 000 site visits and most of its user base is based in the US, but quite a bit in Australia and Spain as well, and primarily the demographic is between an 18 and 44 range. it really tapers off significantly as you pass that too. next let's take a look at tantry here. this is an ethical company where every product you buy, the company will go and plant 10 trees, toking about an environmentally friendly Vibe, and you are helping the Earth Here by planting more trees, by perturing to sing a product here, which is a great way to promote not only sustainability for the environment but to align your products with a mission, with an approach. so you're not just purchasing a piece of apparel here, you're helping support the environment in some way. so if you go through the website, that's featured quite a bit so you get your own interactive virtual Forest. you can get rewarded for doing good tree planting- on autopilot as well, so you can enroll in that too. but they also go into how much is being saved. so sustainability is equal to transparency. so the apparel industry creates around 10.5 million tons per year. so they're helping to divert some of that from landfills while conserving water and important resources as well. they're also going to plant 10 trees. with every purchase, as mentioned before, you can see around 200 MMG saved this year, 245 mm liters, as well as one mmk gene CO2 safe. there's a great way here to show the actual impact so far. they also do a great job of featuring their influencers. so you can see them laid out here on the page with high quality product imagery to show off some of the apparel item. they also have reviews on the homepage. they also have this ad scene section where, if you have been mentioned in any artikles, that's a great one to include, as it's going to include social proof as well as elevate your brand a little bit. they also do a great job with their product imagery. if we take a look at the collection page here, we can see a banner image on top followed by full length product photos. usually they're squares, so they're really featuring their apparel here and focusing on that imagery, which is really a must as they are apparel brand. so we take a look at them in similar web. they don't have estimated Revenue as well, but we can see they have around 244 000 site visits, which is significantly more than the past few websites we've looked at. you can see most of the customer base here is based in Canada, with around 94. they're in a primarily being female, around 60. we can see they've actually used that information to customize their site a little bit, whereas rather than having men's than women's, it's women's than men's, as more of the traffic does come from women. next let's take a look at endured vintage, a vintage inspired clothing store here that really kind of takes that vintage feel and puts it all over from their website- you can see here in the header- rather than just a white background, and kind of has that older paper texture feel to it. you can see it by the bottom left too in terms of the font. it's also done in their product imagery as it kind of has a filter over it to give that zapier feel. so a little more of older photographs. I think they did a great job here in creating an overall theme for their store that's very cohesive. something interesting do here is, instead of a Blog, they have thoughts and music and so they post here. so if you go into one of them it's just farewell Portland. it's almost like someone wrote a letter to you. it's written in the first person here. so I thought when writing and sharing news I would feel sadness, but I don'.

mobile, meaning things are fitting and flowing really nicely on the screen. it's important to design mobile first. designing mobile first means that you're starting off your designs by looking at it on a smaller screen and then looking at how it will appear on a desktop. this might feel backwards, but it is important because more and more people are using their phones to shop. to ensure that your website looks good on mobile, make sure that you're clicking this mobile view button right here as you're designing your store in shopify. alright, so jumping back to spencer's website, he includes an email signup form. it's also great that he includes only a few necessary fields, making this section as concise as possible, which is respectful of people's time when filling out the forms on mobile, and that's also going to lessen the likelihood of people just getting frustrated and exiting out. all right, so let's go shopping. so i'm gonna add this to the cart, and what i like is that he has a pop-up that allows you to tap to continue shopping. this makes it super easy for people on mobile to go back to the main shopping page. now this might seem like a simple addition, but the more seamless that you make your website with small editions, the longer you're going to keep a customer on your online store, and the longer people are on your online store, there's a better chance of a customer seeing that purchase confirmation page. so i'm ready to make a purchase. so let's see how this checkout experience is okay, wow. so this is really easy to quickly update what's in my cart by number or just by completely removing the item, and i have many options: to pay immediately or i can just continue to check out, and when i continue to check out, the form looks super simple and really easy to use. so the nice thing about shopify is that most themes, if not all, come with a pretty standard and pretty seamless checkout experience. whereas with other platforms, custom coding is involved, shopify has this feature already built in. the importance of having an online store that's really easy to use on mobile can be the difference between a lost sale and a purchase. so greenhouse juice co sells healthy, sustainable juices and their website is super functional. so let's take a look at it. all right, let's go over here to navigation. so they're using sub navigation, which helps clean up the main navigation and not make it look too cluttered, and now i can choose to shop by category. having intuitive navigation like this is extremely important in keeping people on your website longer. i know i've definitely rage quit a website because i just couldn't get to where i was going, so try using some of these common categories in your main nav: use shop about contact, the search function, blog and shopping cart in your sub navigation. include product categories different about topics like our story, faqs and locations. and then the footer nav is traditionally saved for items like privacy policy, refunds and shipping, faqs and wholesale inquiries. so a little bit of the drier stuff now. delivery will keep customers engaged during social distancing. delivery can be a logistikal nightmare both for the business and the customer, so they have done a really good job of just simplifying it here. they break down the process in detail and they have a zoning map and contact information for any questions. now i'd like to see more about how they built their store, so i'm going to go into an app called shopify inspector. this is a google chrome app that's free to install, and right off the bat i can see that they're using an app called lucky orange. lucky orange is a shopify app that gives you heat maps of where people are clicking and screen recordings of how people are using your website. you can literally see people shopping on your site with this app, and it's going to help you determine if you need to make any changes to your website so you might be able to see why people are leaving your store or if people are searching for things you just don't carry and if the checkout process is too long. when you get in front of the screen and start building your shopify store, keep these tips in mind and make your store as functional as possible. all right, let's take a look at half moon. they sell yoga props and wellness accessories, and this store has done an amazing job of finding a niche category of products to sell. they went from the general topic of health and wellness, distilled it down to yoga and then they boiled it down even further to props for yoga. now the result of this for any business is a loyal, engaged and focused following. by stiking to a niche, they've also opened themselves up for opportunity to wholesale. you can see that they have a wholesale portal that is password protected. wholesaling is a great way to diversify your revenues, so if you're looking to create a wholesale portal like this one, check out shopify apps like wholesaler and wholesale club. okay, let's head over to vitale. vitale is a jewelry brand with experimental designs. now, the reason that i wanted to visit this page is because they have stunning visuals. look at these lifestyle photos. the styling, the lighting, choice of models and the choice of set are all super well thought out. look at these colors and the camera angles. they've even incorporated the use of video with special effects. now, we all know that video keeps people engaged longer, so make sure that you're including video on your website. this video here is a lifestyle video, meaning the focus is on the feeling of the brand rather than just shoving product imagery down your throat. the reason that this lifestyle content is so effective is because it allows a consumer's ego to identify with a brand's personality. this type of marketing is more complex and definitely more conceptual, as opposed to rolling out a product demo video that you might find on the shopping channel. their product photos are also amazing. it's hard to tell, but i believe they're using a mix of 3d rendering and photography. so, all in all, storytelling through photography will not only increase your store's conversion rate, but a customer's loyalty and how they're going to relate to you as a brand. silk willow is a sustainable wedding decor online store. one thing that they do super well is their level of customer service through customized orders. they have a separate page for custom orders, and the form includes space for customers to narrate what they need verbally and visually through the use of inspirational photos. so this solution of digitally intaking potential customers is a great experience for the client, rather than endless emails back and forth.
FREE Business Phone Number for your Shopify Store
hey, beauties, what's going on? it's your girl, loris, here, the founding owner of beyondbodycom. thank you for tuning in to another one of my videos and if this is your first time being here, welcome, and thank you for tuning in. in today's video i want to tok to you about your business phone number, setting up a business phone account. now, listen, you don't want to be like some of these businesses where your customers are potential customers, have no way of contacting you. what if they have a question? what if they have a concern? or what if they want to give you some feedback on your products or services? you want to give them a way to reach you and actually be able to speak to you. you know that's all part of customer service and standing out, because nowadays a lot of these new businesses they're hiding behind the computer screen. they don't want to tok to customers and the only way the customers or potential customers can reach out is by emailing them. and that's kind of frustrating because sometimes it takes them a long time to get back to you. you know, sometimes it's not even a real person that you're toking to. it might be a computer generated email. so you want to stand out, be professional, not be afraid and have a phone number for your customers and potential customers to reach out and actually speak to you with their concerns. so, before we get into the content of this video, you already know what i'm going to ask you make sure you subscribe to my channel and make sure you hit that bell- notification. so every time we upload a video you will be notified. so stay tuned. [Music]. all right beauties. so there's two things that you can do, or there's two things that you know i've done in my business. so the first thing that i did when i got my phone number or my business phone, started with beyond body. i didn't necessarily want to use my- um- personal cell phone, i didn't want to give this out, i didn't want to list this on my website or on social media, um. so what i did was i got a google account, a google voice account, and so if you already have gmail, then you're all set. but if you don't have a gmail account, then you would need to go in and create yourself a gmail account first, and so, after you create your gmail account, you just go to voicegooglecom and i'm going to hop over right now and share my screen so we can walk through the video together or walk through these steps together. okay, so here we are. i am on, as you can see right here at the top, voice dot, google dot com. so this is where you want to go to, and so i have a couple of gmail accounts. so i'm on one of my gmail accounts where i do not have a google voice number and so, as you can see down here this little black box, it says to call and text, get a google voice number. and then you see, in green, it says get a number. so i do not have a google voice number and i chose this one just for demonstration purposes. so what you will want to do is log into your google account, gmail account, and then, um, again go to voicegooglecom, and so you would click on get a number and then you can search by city or area code- i am in san diego, california- and then they have numbers that you can choose from. so this is pretty cool because it's not like they just give you a number. you can look through the selection and pick which one that you seem to like best, and so i'm just going to select the first one, and so you select it: 619 354 1194 to complete set up and start using google voice. you need to verify your existing phone number. so you verify and then you would put in your real cell phone number into this box. now, the reason why you put your real phone number into this box is, again, because google has to verify that it's a real number, it's a working number and this is the number that you're connecting the new google voice number to your cell phone. but when somebody calls your google voice phone number, they don't see or they don't know your real phone number. they won't have your personal cell phone number. so that's the the good part about you know, having a google voice member if you don't want to give out your personal cell phone number. so once you enter in your real phone number, then you will get um a text message from google and they will send you out a six digit code and then you just need to verify and i'm not going to do that step. but that's how you get your business cell phone number if you don't want to post your personal phone number all over social media or all over the internet. but i don't even use um google voice anymore. i've done that for maybe the first couple of months- uh, starting beyond body- but after a while i just i don't know. i don't want to say i was over it, but i just chose to have a whole separate cell phone, you know, um, so i no longer use the google voice. and again, there's nothing wrong with google voice. i can't even, honestly, tell you why i went away from google voice. um, i just decided to have another cell phone. so i have my personal phone and then i have my business phone and this is strictly business, and so i don't mind giving this phone number out, posting it on social media, putting it on the internet, because this is just for business. so when this phone rings, i already know what it's about. so i answer the phone professionally. um, thank you for calling beyondbody. this is larice. when i answer this, it's just hello, so i don't have to, um, be confused, or, you know, always answer it professionally because i'm not sure who's calling this phone. does that make sense? so i just got another phone and so, having a separate phone outside of a google voice here, let me unshare my screen so i can tok to you really quick, okay? so a good thing about having your own personal phone versus using a google voice is. you know two things. either you can have the same- these are two separate carriers, but you can have the same carrier and then you already know, no matter if it's verizon, sprint, t-mobile, whatever you know. if you have more than one phone on the account, then you get a bundled discount so that drives down the cost of your cell phone bill anyways. so you can do that. or you can get the second phone, your business phone, and put it in your business name instead of your name, but it wouldn't be a bundled deal because it's not your personal phone, it's under your business name. so you can do that and then that can be a tax write-off. so if you get the phone in your business name- um, your business pays the bills and all of that stuff- then you can use this as a tax write-off and again there's no confusion when you answer the phone because you will know that it is a business call. so again, there's two ways to do this. either you can do google voice or you can just go out and get you another cell phone and use that strictly for business. so hopefully this video was informative and it helped you out, but just know it is always best whichever route, you choose to have a business phone number so your customers and potential customers will have a way to reach out to you again. you want to stand out. you don't want to look like an amateur and you want to be professional. put yourself in that. customer shoes are in that, potential customers shoes. if you had a question or if you had a concern about an order that you've already placed or you're interested in placing an order, but you're on the website and you go down to contact us and there's no phone number- like how does that really make you feel? and all you see is an email address. how does that make you feel? you know, like it's like if you're on their website right now and you want to order something right now and you can't call and tok to them and you have to wait nine times out of ten, you may not buy whatever it is unless it's something you really really want it and you're willing to wait for that email response. but a rule of thumb: just have a number. make it easy for your customers and potential customers to reach out and contact you and, um, get the sale. guys, stop being afraid. don't hide behind the computer. they're humans, just like you are an.
