In this article, we will be discussing how to optimize a Google Ads campaign for local lead generation. We will be using my brother's CPR training business campaign as an example.

Optimizing the Campaign:

- My brother's campaign has a small budget of $14 a day.

- The campaign has been running for a little over a week and has received a bunch of clicks and leads.

- The conversion rate is currently at 15%, which is okay, but we would like it to be above 20 or 25%.

- We sorted the ad groups by clicks and found that the CPR Classes ad group was not performing well.

- We went into the search terms report and found some negative keywords that we added to a negative list to avoid wasting money.

- We also checked the conversion rates based on devices and made some adjustments.

- Google recommended using Maximize Conversions and we decided to give it a try.

- We added the negative keywords to the negative keyword list and let Google take the reins for bidding.

- We checked the keywords again and found that CPR Certification was performing better than CPR Classes.

- We will continue to monitor the campaign and make adjustments as needed.

Landing Page:

- The landing page for my brother's business is simple and effective.

- It includes a logo, call to action, contact form, bullet points, and pictures.

- The landing page is converting at 18% on desktop and 13% on mobile.

- We believe that using Maximize Conversions will help increase the conversion rate even more.

Optimizing a Google Ads campaign for local lead generation can be a challenging task, but by following the steps we discussed in this article, you can improve your campaign's performance. Remember to monitor the campaign regularly and make adjustments as needed. Don't forget to check the conversion rates based on devices and use negative keywords to avoid wasting money. And most importantly, make sure your landing page is simple and effective.

How To Optimize Google Ad Campaigns in 2022 - Google Ads Tips & Best Practices

In this video, the speaker shares easy-to-implement tips for optimizing Google ad campaigns. These tips include:

1. Culling underperforming elements: Assess the performance of individual elements such as ad groups, keywords, and ad extensions, and turn off the ones that aren't performing well. This creates space for new elements to be tested against the best previous performance.

2. Testing new elements: Introduce new elements such as ads or ad groups alongside the best performing ones and see how they perform. Rinse and repeat to significantly improve results over time.

3. Regularly check the search terms report: Use the information in the search terms report to make adjustments to campaigns, particularly with regards to negative keywords.

4. Avoid wasting space in ads: Don't waste space with overused words that people automatically filter out. Instead, put more emphasis on the value prospects will get if they buy from you.

5. Break keywords out into separate ad groups: Increase the specificity within your ad account by breaking keywords out into separate ad groups based on central themes.

By implementing these tips, advertisers can enjoy much better results from their Google ad campaigns.

How to Optimize Google Ads Search Campaign the Right Way

In this video, Ilana from TeachTraffic.com walks viewers through five steps to optimize their Google Search campaigns. She uses a live Google Ad account to demonstrate each step, starting with analyzing cost per conversion, the metric that businesses live and breathe by. If this metric is not satisfactory, the next step is to review the search term report, identifying discrepancies between keywords and search terms and adding negative keywords. The third step is to review and possibly revise ad headlines to improve click-through rates. Fourthly, quality score is examined and improved by creating ad groups specific to keywords. Finally, Ilana advises businesses to review and adjust bids for keywords below the first page bid, considering Google's automated bidding. By following these five steps, businesses can optimize their Google Search campaigns and improve their conversion rates.

Google Ads Optimization Checklist | What You Should Be Doing Weekly

Core Optimization Tasks:

1. Bid Management: Adjust your bids every week to find a nice medium so that you are not overspending or underspending.

- If you are using the Maximize Conversions auto bid strategy, you can pause deadweight keywords that have gotten lots of clicks but no conversions or have converted very poorly.

- For manual bidding, you need to go to each ad group and look at the keywords that are sending leads that are too high. Then, you need to reduce your bid incrementally every week until you get the lead cost where you want to get it.

2. Device Bids: Different devices send different converting traffic. Therefore, you need to flip the switch to send high converting traffic only.

3. Adding Keywords That Win: Add keywords that you are not currently bidding on but are driving you conversions. This is a significant optimization tactic that is often overlooked.

4. Adding Negative Keywords: Add negative keywords that are wasting your money.
