How To Find Your PERFECT Sensitivity On Controller Apex Legends (Apex Settings PS4/PS5 + Xbox)
Hey guys, what's up? Today I'm here to give you some pointers and advice on how to find your perfect controller sensitivity. In this video, I'll only be going over advanced control sensitivities. If you're serious about finding your perfect sensitivity, then switching over to alc settings is definitely the move.
Before we dive into alc settings, there are a few things you should do. First, turn your trigger dead zones down to none and turn off your vibration. I know some people like to keep their vibrations on because it feels weird without them, but trust me, once you adapt to no vibrations, you'll realize how crazy it was to ever use them in the first place.
Now let's talk about advanced look controls. Make sure you turn custom look controls on. Starting with your dead zone, you want to keep this as low as possible without experiencing too much stick drift that affects your aim. A common mistake is for players to raise their dead zone until they have zero stick drift. However, you want a slight bit of stick drift as it won't actually affect your aim when you're moving your joysticks. But you don't want the dead zone so low that your stick goes crazy.
Also, keep in mind that the dead zone setting only affects your right thumbstick. If you want to adjust the dead zone on your left thumbstick, you have to go out of alc settings and adjust the movement dead zone there. There are only two options for the movement dead zone: small or large. I recommend using a small dead zone, but if you find yourself moving a lot without actually touching your controller, then go for a large dead zone.
The lower your dead zone, the more precise your aim can be, as small inputs you make will only register if it's outside of the set dead zone. In an ideal world, everyone could run zero dead zone, but almost every controller has some stick drift, so you'll probably have to adjust it to suit you. For example, my old controller had so much stick drift that I had to run a dead zone of eight. But right now, I'm running a dead zone of three.
The outer threshold setting determines how far you have to push on your thumbstick before the extra yaw and pitch are enabled. Keep this at one percent, unless your controller is struggling to register it. Then you can increase it as you see fit. However, for most people, one percent is going to be fine.
Now let's talk about the response curve. The response curve is by far the most important setting when trying to find your perfect sensitivity. It determines how your sensitivity actually ramps up. If you have it on zero or one, then you are essentially playing on a completely linear response curve. This means that your sensitivity will ramp up at a consistent pace.
If you look at this graph, you can see how the sensitivity ramps up. If you set it all the way to 31, you'll see how it starts off slow and then ramps up more and more. But if you set it to zero, it's just linear all the way through. Linear settings allow you to be very precise and control recoil easier. This is because small inputs have more effect with linear settings than they do with high response curves. However, linear settings can be difficult to learn as it requires more thumb control and can feel twitchy.
For newer players or those who haven't spent many hours in the game, it might not be worth switching over to linear settings. If you move up to 8 to 10 on the response curve, you'll be playing on a more classic response curve, similar to the default response curve that Apex will load you in with. So if you first hop on the game and just play with the default settings, it's probably going to be around 8 to 10. I'm pretty sure running a high response curve allows aim assist to catch a little bit more.
To find your perfect response curve, start at zero and slowly move it up until you feel comfortable. Now let's move on to per optic settings. You want to slowly increase the multiplier as the zoom level increases. I recommend copying what I'm using right now and adjusting it if anything feels too slow or too fast. For example, if you put on a 2x4 optic on your Flatline and realize that your 4x optic is not moving fast enough for you, increase the sensitivity. I would also recommend increasing the sensitivities above it as well.
Now let's talk about the sensitivity values. Starting with the yaw and pitch values, the yaw speed is the horizontal sensitivity, and the pitch speed is the vertical sensitivity. As a general rule of thumb, you always want your pitch speed to either be the same as your yaw speed or a little bit lower. I recommend keeping these values between 150 and 500. The lower it is, the better your aim will be in most cases. However, if you move it up, your movement will be better. I would recommend starting on a lower sensitivity like 150 and then slowly increasing it as you feel comfortable. Movement is really important in Apex, but if you're not hitting any shots, then it's not worth running a high sensitivity.
If you want to have the precise aim of a lower sensitivity while also having fast movement, you want to use extra yaw and extra pitch. If you're finding that you aren't moving as fast as you would like with your sensitivity, then you can start messing around with these settings. Extra yaw and extra pitch increase your sensitivity. For example, if you set your yaw speed to 250 and your extra yaw to 250, then if you move all the way to the left or right on your thumbstick, your sensitivity will be 500 (250 + 250).
Now let's talk about ads sensitivity. All of these settings work the same as hip fire, but they only affect you when you're ads (aiming down sight). For the yaw and pitch, I recommend playing between 80 and 400. Again, you want your pitch to be the same as your yaw or lower. The lower it is, the more accurate you'll be. However, if it's too low, you might struggle to keep up with your enemies. Your ads sensitivity should be lower than your hip fire sensitivity since you're supposed to be more accurate when aiming down sight.
I always recommend new players start on a lower sensitivity as it requires less skill and control of your thumbstick. I also highly recommend trying out ads turning extra yaw and extra pitch. The extra yaw and extra pitch are actually disabled when aim assist kicks in. This allows you to quickly swipe across your screen and lock onto your target with ease. It's really helpful for those quick movements.
