How to Connect or Point Namecheap Domain to Shopify 2022

hello everybody. this is ani from the learning class. welcome back to the channel. uh, today is a very, very short video, uh, it's on how to connect your domain name, uh, to your shopify store. so today's tutorial is with namecheck uh, which is one of the most popular uh domain providers. uh, they are really cheap and it's like eight bucks or something for a year. uh, so, yeah, you know, uh, i would definitely recommend you guys to buy a domain from namechip uh and, yeah, the process to connect your shopify store to namecheap is pretty straightforward. so let's uh dive into it. but before that, please do all the good stuff. please like, subscribe, share all of that. yeah, we are pretty new, so we'll appreciate that. okay, so let's get into it. so, if you see, this is my shopify store. that's the shopify domain name: faith and destiny. so that's the name of the store. let's go to my namecheap account- that's my namechek account- and let's just look for the domain name. so i'll go to domain list. i'm just going to type in faith. so here it is. so you click manage in your name chip and then, once you click manage, you're going to see something like this: so we need to click on advanced dns. so when you click advanced dns, this is the page that will open up. so we basically are just concerned with this area over here, okay, so the first thing that you have to remember is it should be cname, record, www, and then you see this here. so this one has to be changed, okay. so we go back to our store and then just copy this. okay, make sure you don't need the admin or the slash or https, none of those, okay? so then you just come here and paste it. if there is something else, like you know, if you see, if i put the whole thing here, you see what's going to happen. you see, it gives me a red thing. so it's not right. so we just need faithanddestinymyshopifycom, and that's it. so then, here you got the the time. uh, just click one minute and then click this little arrow. so it's just gonna save, okay, great. and then you need another entry. another entry is: you just click here, add new record, and then the very first one, a record, click that, okay, under host, you just have at, and then, in value, you just put this value in. that's it, okay. and then you click here, click one minute, and then you save again. so we are all set up with uh name chip. now, uh, i'm just gonna copy the domain. go back to my shopify store, go to settings, yeah, look for domains, so domains. it says connect existing domain. so we're just gonna connect existing domain. just paste, do. next you verify connection [Music]. so this will just take about a few seconds. so, as you can see, it's now connected. however, you're gonna see a small message here: ssl pending. now shopify offers a free ssl, so don't worry about it. after about two or three minutes this will just go away and everything will be good to go, okay. so you can just refresh it sometime. it's immediate. sometimes it's just takes like two, three minutes or five minutes. but yeah, once you're connected, it's all good to go, okay. so now you can close this box. you can click this little i icon over here and this will straight away take you to the front of the website. so, as you can see, it says faithanddestincom. so the domain is connected. obviously, we are just still waiting for the ssl to come through, so let's just refresh it, yeah, yeah, i wouldn't worry too much about it. as i said, it just takes a couple of minutes for it to come through and then should be all good to go. [Music]. so yeah, so anyways, uh, that was pretty much uh how you connect your name chip domain name to your shopify store. pretty easy peasy. and thank you guys for watching. i really appreciate your thumbs up and, uh, see you guys in the next video. bye now.

How to connect a third party domain || Shopify Help Center

A custom domain helps build your brands identity and keeps your store looking professional. Hey there ___ here from Shopify. Today I will show you how to take a domain that you purchased through a third party provider and use it as the domain for your Shopify store. When you connect a third-party domain to your Shopify admin, that domain is managed by the provider that you purchased it from, Even though the domain is managed by a third party, once you connect it to the Shopify admin, visitors to your online store see your custom domain. If you want to transfer your domain to Shopify so you can manage it in your admin, then view the link in the description below. If you have purchased your domain from a popular provider like {GoDaddy}, {Google Domains} or {1&1 IONOS}, you have the option to automatikally connect your domain. If you don’t have a domain with one of those providers, use the timestamps to skip ahead to manually edit your DNS settings To connect a third-party domain automatikally. start on the Shopify admin, Click “Settings”. then click “Domains”. On the domains page, click “Connect existing domain”. In the text box, enter the domain that you want to connect. In this example, I want to connect {march-roadcom}. Then click “Next”. After this, click “Connect automatikally”. A pop-up will take you to your domain provider’s website. If you’re not signed in to your domain provider account, then you need to sign in. In this example, we are using {GoDaddy} as our provider, but these steps also apply if you are using {Google Domains} or {1&1 IONOS}. After you sign in, click “Connect” and then click “Close” to finish. It can take up to 48 hours for your third party domain to be verified and listed. After your domain is verified, you will see your domain listed under Third-party domains. If you want this URL to show when customers visit your online store, then you need to set it as the "primary domain". At the top of the page you see {marchroadsale} is currently listed as the primary domain, But I want {march-roadcom} as the primary. Click “Change primary domain”, then select the new third-party domain that you just connected. Click “Save” to finish. You have just successfully connected a third-party domain and set it to be your primary domain. If you purchased a domain from a provider other than {GoDaddy}, {Google Domains} or {1&1 IONOS}, then you need to manually update that domain’s DNS settings in order to connect it to Shopify. Shopify is not able to support you with manually editing third-party DNS settings. If you need help, it’s best that you contact the domain provider directly to navigate their platform and make changes. I am going to show you an example of editing DNS settings. Keep in mind that there are many domain providers out there and each one has their own unique platform, So the steps may look different on your providers platform. You should use the following steps as a general guide and not a step-by-step tutorial. Start by logging in to the account that you have with your domain provider and find your DNS settings. For the provider that I am using, this is found under {Manage DNS}. From the DNS settings, find the “www” "CNAME" record. Change your "CNAME" record to point to “shopsmyshopifycom”. If your provider has a default “TTL Record”, you don’t need to update it. The next record you want to change is the “A Record”. Change this record to Shopify’s IP address, shown here and listed below. Some domain providers also require you to set a host name with the "A record". If this is required, then set the host name to the “@” symbol. When you’re done making changes, confirm your settings and make sure you save. Next, log in to your Shopify admin, click “Settings” and then click “Domains”. Click “Connect existing domain” and type in your custom domain. Click “Next” and then click “Verify connection”. The domain might connect immediately, but it can also take up to 48 hours for your custom domain to connect. If it’s not connected after 48 hours, then contact your domain provider for help. Once your domain is connected, you can set the domain to be your primary domain. You need to do this if you want customers to see your custom domain when they visit your online store. Click “Change primary domain” and then select your custom domain as your primary. Now you’re all done, manually connecting your third-party domain to your Shopify store. If you still have questions, you can review the resources in the description below or contact the Shopify Support team directly. Thank you for watching.

Connecting Your Domain Name to Shopify (DNS Records)

hey everybody, this is ori from astroweb, and today i'm going to teach you how to transfer your domain name, to apply your own custom domain name to a shopify store. so whenever you set up a store, when you're developing a store, when you're making it, you have a temporary domain- somethingmyshopifycom- and obviously you want to have your own business or own a personal domain name, and so you need to set it up, and this video is to show you how to set it up and what are the two aspects of things you need to do with your dns to set up the domain name so it works and shopify uses that one. okay, so what are the two things? number one: you need to specify, uh, via dns, that your domain is using shopify servers. that's number one, and we use a records and cname records, which we'll get into. the second thing you need to do is you need to add this txt records to allow shopify to send emails on your behalf. so what kind of emails? register emails, customer emails, order emails, things like that. so you need to allow shopify to send on your behalf. that's a very simple explanation of it, but basically you specify a setting so less domain providers, less email providers, will actually filter you as spam, so actually the emails will be delivered better. that's a better explanation for it, okay? so let's show you how to do it. let's do one with a real, real example. so i have a site right here, i have a- my shopify domain, and i want to set it up with a domain. that i'm gonna just do for this video only, just for example. okay. so what do i do? first of all, i go to my back end and i go to online store and i click on domains and when i do that, you'll see the dot: my shopify domain. now you want to connect a new domain. so you can either buy a domain from shopify or you can transfer the ownership from one registrar- for example, godaddy or big host or hostgator or any of these- and transfer it, or you can actually just specify the dns records and that's it. so i'm gonna do the connect existing domain, which means you have purchased your domain name from a different source and you're actually connecting it. so this is the most popular method. but you could also have shopify host it and then the flow would be slightly longer but also slightly more simple because you're letting shopify do all the dns records for you, okay, so i'm going to click on connect existing domain and i'm going to put the domain in. in this case, i'm using a domain called circuitcom- and i'm going to click on next. now, when i did that, it'll check who registered your domain name. right, so you purchase- for example, you pay ten dollars a year for it- who purchased that or who is a managing it? in my case, it's go daddy, but you might have a different provider. so if it's a provider that shopify recognizes, then you will actually be able to much easier connect it automatikally. you're going to basically click, there's going to be an, a pop-up window and you're going to actually specify your login for godaddy or for whatever provider, and it's going to authorize shopify to read and modify the data for them, right, so it's going to do it little faster. sometimes you don't want to do that. either you don't trust them, or or you have a registrar that doesn't actually, uh, automatikally connect with shopify. shopify doesn't recognize them, or is not. you know, they're not that big. so what i'm going to do, i'm going to do the connect manually version, which allows you to follow these steps for no matter what kind of registrar you have. okay, so i'm going to click on connect manually and now i have to follow the instructions. so what are the instructions? i already saved them up here so we can do it. so number one on the instructions is you will have to specify the a record and the txt record. okay, so what i'm? what am i going to do? first of all, i'm going to provide all this in the youtube description, but i'm going to go and i'm going to copy this ip address, okay, and i'm going to set up an a record. an a record is just a way to point that your domain is going to go to a certain ip, a certain server, right? so you're telling this domain is going to use shopify servers. so i'm going to go to my go godaddy registration and i'm editing my circuit. so, basically, i went to godaddy, i clicked on domain name servers, i clicked on my domain and domain dns management and i'm going to go here and i'm going to add a record, which is an a record, okay, and i'm going to do the host and i'm going to specify this. so basically means my domain name. it's going to point to the ip address that was specified. okay, you can keep that ttl, the time to live, uh, the fresh, how often it'll re-request? you can keep it as the default. one hour is fine, okay, and i'm gonna so this. so part one is: i'm putting the a record for this, okay. number two is if you have your domain- for example, circuitcom- right, circuitcom. if you also want to do wwwcircuitcom, then you can. you can also, which you typically should do- you're going to click here on add, you're going to click here on cname, you're going to type in www and you're going to go to the instructions. you're gonna copy this- it's shopsmyshopifycom, and you're gonna place it in the points too and you're gonna save it. so this is step number one, okay. so once you do that and you finished it correctly, you can go back here and you can click on verify connection. what is that going to do? shopify is going to query your domain and it's going to check that your settings are actually correct. so if you notike here, my a record is correct, it recognizes that i put the ip, but my cname was not correct. so what did i do wrong in this case? usually it's not something wrong. it just means that the domain name, once you save it, sometimes these things take time to actually propagate, so sometimes you just gotta wait a minute or two, or in some some providers you might have to wait an hour or two, right, so it really depends. but what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna verify again, and i need to make sure that both my a record and my cname record are verified, okay, and again, sometimes it might take a little while, but don't you know it. these are, these are normal. these are things that it might even take up to 24 hours in some cases, but usually they're within a few minutes maximum. okay, so i did it and, as you can see right here, my donate domain was successfully connected. now, once you do that, shopify is is already connected. but if you notike, it says here: ssl pending. what is ssl? it basically means that you can have a secure connection, a http connection with a padlock right here, and this process is going to be pending by shopify, and i've seen this take between about 15 or 30 minutes up to about five or six hours. so in some cases you might have to wait a little bit, and what i recommend is, if you can actually do the dns before the the hour that you want to launch, you could do it earlier, the day before, for example, and then you put a- uh, a password, then that would be usually be better. but if, just just so you know, if you're about to launch and you want to launch at 9am in the morning and you do that at 9am, your site might not be available in working because of this thing. so i want to just you know- alert that i've seen many times. it's taken many hours for this. okay, so let's do one more thing right now. this, the second thing, is: you have to configure the emails. so we're going to go here to these instructions, which i'll link as well, and we're going to create a txt record with this information right here. okay, so i'm going to copy all the way down here. okay, what it's doing is just saying, hey, i, i recognize shopshopify as one of the senders and all the providers, like gmail and hotmail and yahoomail. they're gonna, they're gonna use this data to try to reduce their spam. so if you authorize shopify, they won't put it in the spam, or at least you'll have less chance, right? so i'm going to go here. i'm going to go back to my dns. i'm going to add a txt record right here. here's a txt record and the host again is this at sign and i'm going to put the value in right here as l.

Connect Domain.com to Shopify

[Music]. today i have another business tip for you. last video i toked about how i use the shopify platform for my e-commerce- my website, my business- and today i'm going to be toking about how i use my own website through domaincom and connected my shopify store to domaincom. now shopify has instructions on how to integrate a pre-existing domain address to your shopify store, and it works really well if you have something from google, from godaddy, from one and one from ions. but if you have what they consider to be a third-party domain source, like domaincom, you have to input things manually. today i'm going to share with you how you do that on domaincom and how to get it to sync with shopify. all right, guys, let's just jump right on in. there are a few different ways in which shopify can integrate your domain address into their platform. they suggest that you go through google domains or godaddy, or one on one or ions, so that they can automatikally just pull it in. it's super easy, they have contracts and it just works out best for them. i personally have always used domaincom to buy my domain addresses. that's just the platform that i've chosen to use, and so you have to add in the settings manually in order to connect your domain address to your shopify store, and today i'm going to show you how to do that. i'm going to link this page in the description, but there is a page with instructions on how to connect the third-party domain to your shopify manually. now there are many things in this page that may seem daunting or confusing, but i'm going to walk you through and it shouldn't be too scary. so the first step is: before you begin, go ahead and go to your third party domain host and you need to change some dns records. now this may seem like complete jibber-jabber and you have no idea what a dns record is. that's okay. let me just say that if you need to contact them directly, they were very helpful to me, both domaincom and shopify- to help me get the instructions that i need, and they were able to help me with this task. if you want to do it completely manually, you can do that as well. so let's do it manually and then you can call if you need extra help. but this is how you do it really fast. the first thing they ask you to do is change the dns record in your third-party domain provider. the first record that we're going to change is the a record. i'm going to go over here to mydomaincom, and on yourdomaincom on the left hand side there is a place called dns and name servers. click on that and you will have three different tabs. we're only going to be dealing with the first two tabs. the first one you want to look at is your name servers. these should be auto populated in your domaincom name servers, but just to check to see if they exist, pause the video if you need to add them. but there should be the ns2 and the ns1 domaincom and if you need to add them, just click on add name servers and then you can add them here. where we are going to spend most of our time is in the dns records. so this page may look completely daunting, but just bear with me, it's not that scary. there are three records in which we need to add. we need to add these three records right here. this is the a record, the at the, a record at www and the a record at astrix, and what we're going to be doing is we're going to be filling them in with shopify's web platforms, ipa, which is 23.227.38.65. the way in which you do that is you would click on add dns record and then you would click on the name, the type- let's say it's an egg record. we're going to type in the ip address. this is what your first a record should look like. you got your a record, which is here. you got your at symbol and then your ip address, 23.227.38.65. you do not need to add anything to time to live, that will just happen automatikally. and then priority is in a, because my record already exists. i can't add it, but this is where you just had add dns. so you would do that for the a record, do it for the www record and do it for the asterix record. so you want to make sure that you have all three records. once you have those three records, the next thing you want to do is go to the second one, which is the cname record. now, according to shopify, you want to just make this. you have a single record to input. you want to be www at shopsmyshopifycom. let's back over to domaincom. again. you just click on add dns record, put cname wwwshopsmyshopifycom, click save and everything else is happy. now this will take a couple of hours to propagate, but once it does propagate, here's what we do. come over to your shopify store and in the settings tab there is on the left a place called domains. this is where you would connect an existing domain. so we would type in tennessee, roughcutscom, click next- mine is already connected. so it would just go through this process where it says checking, verify. mine took about 18 hours for it to propagate, but after it did it verified the address and then when i actually click on tennesseeruffcutscom, it brings me to my real website and it says tennesseeruffcutscom and not like shopifyshopstennessee, because this is my ip address. if you have any trouble getting your records in place or just seems daunting, call domaincom. they do this all the time. they will happily help you get your records in place. but i found it a little daunting, a little confusing to start off with because the instructions weren't super clear on how to actually get everything connected and it wasn't propagating properly. but, like i said, you got four records to input. it's not that scary. if you have any trouble, just pause the video, go back, call domaincom and they'll be able to get you fixed up. well, there you have it, my friends. hopefully that was helpful on how to connect yourdomaincom web address to your shopify store so that you can have your custom domain there connected, present and ready for more business. again, i just want to say: don't be concerned if it doesn't happen right away. it took mine about 18 hours to propagate fully in order for the sync to happen. if it takes more than 24 hours, i would give domaincom a call. make sure that all of your records that you inputted are correct and just check everything over once again. if this makes sense to you and you're able to get your domain address to connect with your shopify store, congratulations. you are just one step closer to creating your online business. i'm proud of you and link your website down in the description. i would love to see what you guys have come up with- your web addresses, your web platforms and see what you come up with. but thank you so much for joining in today and hopefully it was helpful. i'll have to catch you next time. [Music].
