How to Create Bundles on Shopify: A Step-by-Step Guide

In this article, we will guide you through the process of creating bundles on Shopify using code. Bundles are a great way to increase your average order value and offer value to your customers. We will provide you with the necessary code and instructions to create your own bundles.

1. Duplicate Your Theme:

Before making any changes, duplicate your current theme to ensure that you have a backup in case anything goes wrong.

2. Add Code to Product Dash Templates:

Go to the 'Online Store' section and click on 'Actions.' Select 'Edit Code' and navigate to the 'Product Dash Templates' section. Look for the word 'unless' and add the following code above it to create spacing:

{% assign has_bundle = false %}

{% for tag in product.tags %}

{% if tag contains 'bundle' %}

{% assign has_bundle = true %}

{% endif %}

{% endfor %}

Next, create a new snippet called 'product-bundle-card.liquid' and paste the code provided at the end of the article. Save the file.

3. Add Code to Snippets:

Create two more snippets called 'product-bundle-collection.liquid' and 'product-bundle-price.liquid.' Paste the corresponding code provided at the end of the article into each snippet and save the files.

4. Add Bundle Tags:

Add a new tag to your products with the prefix 'bundle-' followed by a unique identifier for the bundle. For example, 'bundle-bags' or 'bundle-1.' Apply this tag to each product in the bundle.

5. Create Bundle Products:

Duplicate the products in the bundle and modify their titles, descriptions, and prices as necessary. Apply the appropriate bundle tag to each product and set their status to 'Active.'

6. Preview Your Bundles:

Preview your bundles and ensure that they are working correctly. The bundle should show up as a separate product with a unique SKU.

Creating bundles on Shopify can be a great way to increase your average order value and provide value to your customers. With the code and instructions provided in this article, you can create your own bundles on Shopify for free. However, keep in mind that this method does not allow for accurate inventory tracking. If this is a deal-breaker, consider using a paid app like Bundler or Discount Ninja.
