This is a unique situation that doesn't happen to every other drop shipper. In this article, I'll explain what happened, what I did wrong, and what you can learn from my mistakes.

What Happened:

Hey guys, it's Bilal from WebSensePro, and in today's video, we're going to talk about an issue we faced while trying to publish our Facebook shop for a local company called Home Choice Electronics. We've been managing their social media marketing, website, Facebook ads, and Google AdWords. However, we encountered a problem where Facebook was not publishing our store due to a policy violation.

Solution:

To resolve this issue, we went to the Facebook shop and clicked on Manage Shop. From there, we went to the e-commerce manager and clicked on See Details. We found out that our account was restricted because we had less Facebook presence and lacked authenticity and trustworthiness in our local area. We had only a few hundred likes and posts on Instagram, which might have caused our account to be restricted.

We requested a review by clicking on Request Review and writing an email to the Facebook team explaining our situation. We mentioned that our client already had a physical location and a good client edge and sales on their physical location. We also requested them to review our Google map location to verify that we were physically present there. We stated that we had recently started our Facebook marketing and wanted to generate online sales and revenue.

After sending the email, we waited for the review to be completed, and thankfully, our shop was finally active. To check the status of your shop, you can go to Shops and see if it's active or not.

This B.C. business nearly lost $18K because of Shopify's mistake

Channing Chan, the owner of three coffee shops in Victoria, came up with a creative idea to keep customers safe during the pandemic by ordering geodesic domes similar to those from a manufacturer in China and placing them over some tables on his café's patios. Chan and his friend Natalia Capitanova created an account on the e-commerce platform Shopify to sell them as Wig Blue Tent Company.

Some customers, like Raymond Young from Whitby, Ontario, ordered 10 domes from them last May, intending to host campers that summer. However, delivery was delayed due to COVID-19. Young initiated a chargeback with his credit card company, but eventually got the domes and started renting them out. He still approved the refund, but wonders why there were no consequences.

Wigler, who also ordered domes from Chan and Capitanova, assumed that Shopify would advocate on their behalf after sending them documents showing the domes had been delivered. However, Shopify never forwarded that evidence to the buyer's bank. Chan and Capitanova spent months trying to figure out what happened, but were unable to get a response from Raymond or the bank.

After go public reached out to Shopify, the company admitted it made a mistake and gave Wigleu its $18,000 back. Young got to keep his refund too. However, the damage to the domes remains unresolved.

Corrine Pullman of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business says that Shopify dropped the ball. She says that complicated relationships within the credit card industry leave room for error, and that smaller merchants struggle to understand who they are dealing with and why things are happening the way they are.

Chan and Capitanova ditched Shopify and now sell the domes on their own. The geodesic domes can hold snow and wind, making them a sturdy, multi-use product that can be used as a greenhouse. Despite the challenges they faced, Chan and Capitanova remain optimistic and continue to sell their innovative products.
