hey everyone i'm tatiana and today i
have a very
special guest antonella all the way from
romania
she started selling on amazon about
three years ago almost three years ago
and now she sells three products across
multiple marketplaces and she does
around 10 000 pounds per month in
revenue
and she's here today willing to share
her story with you
in hopes that she can inspire and help
you guys
if you are also following a similar path
as her
uh as all of us uh building our
businesses
online building our e-commerce
businesses um so
anton antonella thank you so so much for
taking the time
to schedule in this interview with me
today
do you mind getting started just sharing
a little bit about yourself
and how you discovered the opportunity
of selling on amazon
hello everyone hello tatiana very nice
to
meet you i'm antonella i'm from romania
and i would like to share my journey
with you
i started almost two years ago
and when i was looking for something
else i didn't especially look
for something to sell online i was just
researching for something to do to do
like a side hustle
that i could do in between my work and
my free time
i have researched few weeks then i found
out about
amazon and about the opportunity to sell
online
and from there i started to search some
courses from where i can learn how to do
it like the right way
amazing and honestly i just
looked for this on youtube and i wasn't
really
convinced about the way the people were
presenting their knowledge
about selling on amazon so i decided
only to google it
and i can still remember the day that i
wrote
the best amazon selling course and it
popped out this marketplace superheroes
and i watched the intro video with
robert and steven
and after 10 minutes that was it i
bought it and
i started wow that's great so um
you were you've mentioned that you
weren't really you were looking for a
way to kind of
start a side hustle way of earning some
extra income
what were you doing before you started
your amazon business were you a student
were you working
what was what was life like before
before i was also a student and i was
also working
i worked for two years almost three
years as a cabin crew and i came home
and i realized that i wanted to do
something else
not just only like uh eight to five
day every day work the same doing the
same thing i wanted to do
something challenging that i can have
like
a future with it so this opportunity for
me
was exactly on time wow
so you wanted to create a different kind
of lifestyle that
um maybe the the job that you would get
after you graduate or continue to work
in cabin crew
just that lifestyle wouldn't wouldn't
match up with the ideal lifestyle that
you
had wanted to create for yourself
exactly you know being in romania
did you have any hesitations um because
i know when you google
or you watch youtube videos a lot of the
people who tok about selling on amazon
they're based in north america or based
primarily in the us
did you have any concerns that because
i'm in romania maybe this
isn't applicable to me or maybe there's
going to be more barriers or more
challenges because i'm not
in north america yes maybe
maybe a little my family they are not
business owners
but i always had in me the thing that
you have to invest
in something to get something else in
return so if
i honestly i take decisions very
quickly and these guys convinced me that
from the first video that
the message was clear you have to do
something to earn something
so i decided to go for it that's awesome
and so uh you discovered the marketplace
superheroes program
and where did you have any hesitations
with
investing in the program or were you
skeptikal
um at all or were you immediately did
you immediately decide
this is it this is what i want to do i'm
going to buy it and i'm going to
take action was it a very simple
decision for you
yes it was very straightforward i said i
will buy it i will do this
that's awesome so you didn't spend much
time like i think a lot of people
i think that's actually very unique and
i think it's actually a really great
skill to be decisive it's actually i
think a quality of successful people
is to make decisions quickly um learning
to
to do that that's a skill that you can
develop because if you always take
forever to make decisions then
you end up not making decisions and
sometimes you have to
cut yourself off and and decide
so once you decided to start the
marketplace superheroes course walk me
through
what were your next steps you followed
the program step by step
and you know how long did it take you to
pick your product
and then to launch it on amazon what was
that process like
so um i think about the first step was
just
following the course step by step and i
knew what i have to do
next i had to get used with the platform
to learn how to
research to know about markets that i
didn't know before it was
i didn't know but the first time i was
what i was doing here and what i was
learning and i think i found my
first product after two or three months
then i started to look for suppliers
and i had everything there i just had to
do
the steps right right and
um did you have any challenges with
setting up your amazon seller central
account or was that quite a simple
straightforward process for me was
straightforward i've
seen in the group that for others was
very challenging
but i was lucky one that's good that's
good
and so you decided that you wanted to
launch your first product in the us
as opposed to other marketplaces um
why is that i think because u.s
is the biggest market and they also
suggest that you should start there but
also you can start i started in u.s and
uk because i said let's go global
and see what happens and i got a very
nice surprise
because uk was selling even better than
us that's fantastik now i decided to go
further i added canada and
australia to the process amazing
so in the marketplace superheroes
program
the methodology is quite unique
in comparison to a lot of other amazon
fba
courses where whereby the the idea is to
when you're doing product research
you're not looking for
the coolest or most attractive product
you're actually looking for like simple
boring
often inexpensive products to sell on
amazon
so did you follow that methodology when
you were finding your first product and
did you find something that was like
simple and boring
or did you go for something um you know
a bit more exciting
that you could maybe brand
at the beginning i can say that i tried
to follow
i did everything that the the courses
said and
my coach said but
when i launched my first product my
first two products
one of them uh was in a very competitive
market
so i said this is no no
this product is not good so but
honestly it was my best product let's
say
because i have learned so much from it
and the mistakes that i made with my
first one i didn't made with my second
one and my third one
so it was for me was the best product
right okay so your first product was
more of a competitive product
um but even though it was maybe a lot
harder
to be successful with that product
because of the high competition
you're saying that it was still your
best product because of everything that
you learned
from that experience yes
awesome and i think that's so important
like that's the thing that
people have to understand when they get
into this business is that your first
product oftentimes
it's not your most successful product
but it is like
it's like the training wheels on the
bicycle
and it teaches you the motions of riding
the bike
and then you gain this experience and
then with your second product you can
take off those training wheels and apply
what you had learned with the first
product to the second and the third and
so forth
and that's what makes them so successful
you know you're going to make mistakes
as an entrepreneur when you do anything
for the first time you're bound to make
mistakes
absolutely make mistakes because this is
business i think exactly and i think
that's the thing is that so many people
are afraid of making mistakes
because they fear that they fear failure
which is
natural we all fear failure we don't
want to be embarrassed we don't want to
be wrong we don't want to lose money or
time or resources
but you have to understand that that's
just part of the process
and you make a mistake here but then you
win here and it
tends to balance itself out and
eventually you know we are on this
upward curve and
we were toking about this before the
interview you know success
is not like this it's not linear it's
not an upward trend like
in the long when you zoom out it's
linear but when you zoom in you can see
there's ups and there's downs and
there's
there's challenges and there's mistakes
but over the long run
you are going trending upwards and i
think that that's why it's so important
to not fear
failure because then you're never going
to get started with anything so
on on the note of failure did you have
any challenges with
any of the products that you want short
or anything in this business
anything that was maybe a mistake that
you made
or a hiccup or some or some sort of
barrier that you had to
work around or figure out how to um
circumvent and and persevere beyond it
uh i think at the beginning of it was
the fear
the fear like you said the fear of
failure but
i don't know why people think of this
failure
like when you're not even they didn't
even started yet they're not
at that problem yet you have to face
your problem at the present
not the future problem so it's like i
was like
oh what if uh i will not be able to do
ppc the right way
how if i will not be able to sell
anything but i didn't even find my
product
so i was like thinking that future
problems but i had
four more before that right right right
i think you know what i'm
what i'm hearing is you have a really a
mindset that really serves you
uh in life because um you know you can
always say what if you know what if this
happens what if that happens and
your mind can go off and um you can
always think of something that could go
wrong
right but what you're telling me is like
why focus on that
right now let me focus on what's in
front of me and if that time comes i'll
figure it out when that happens
and that's a mindset of success that's a
mindset that helps you
to create success in all areas of your
life not just with amazon fba
and i want to highlight that because
that's actually a very common thing with
most of the success interviews that i do
on this channel
is the people who are successful have
developed this mindset whether
you just you developed it or it came
naturally to you
or if you had to like develop it more
consciously
it's a mindset that helps you to
um to create success in your life so
that's great now you did mention that
you had a coach
so you took the marketplace superheroes
course and you also got a coach in
addition to
the step-by-step training in the course
yes
i started on march and i think on april
i entered origin which is a more
private group and i had a coach
a very good one carol okay
and she uh teached me
very well everything step by step
and it was like you signed me for
everything wow wow so origin is
a program within marketplace superheroes
um so you decided to join that and so
having this coach how how necessary
was it for you in building your business
do you feel like it was very helpful
or do you feel like you could have done
it without having a coach
yes and no because for me
i knew that i could do it but i needed
like a little more push a little more
trust and so i could go on
yeah that makes sense yeah and i think
sometimes the purpose of a coach like
for example if you hire a fitness
instructor like i've hired fitness
instructors in the past and it's not
that i really need them to teach me how
to do the workout because i know how to
do the workout i've
i even actually was going to get my own
fitness instructor
certification at one point in time i was
so into fitness
but then i flunked out last minute but
the point is that when i hired my
personal trainers in the past it's not
because i wanted them to teach me
how to work out it's because i wanted
someone to hold me accountable
and to help like you know when you're
you're showing up every day at 8 a.m
you know that's you know you're creating
schedule for yourself and you know
having someone
else on that journey with you that
accountability is super helpful
so maybe that's that's what it was for
you was it was happening
like that keeps you like focused it
keeps you concentrated you know just you
have to go straight
for sure amazing yeah okay so then
okay so you launched your products on
amazon and
um how did the launch go with
the products um did you start getting
traction right away did you start
getting
sales right away or did you have to
get creative with your marketing to
start generating rad video
so i think it was like three days
like at the first sale and i remember i
was so excited i said oh my god
someone bought something for me i saw
something
in the beginning i even looked at the
very every customer's name and i said oh
my god this is
from tennessee oh my god this is yeah
it's
a special moment right that that first
sale is like wow i've just proven my
concept i've just proven
that this works yes and for me it was
like in the very few days i just got my
first
sale so it was very easy that's great
and then did you have to did you turn on
your amazon
pay-per-click advertising
yes this was before because i also took
a
course that we had included with origen
it was with keith armstrong a very
detailed
uh course yeah was very nice but very
challenging i didn't understand nothing
in the beginning but
then step by step i started to
understand and implement
it yeah and i mean this whole business
because you mentioned that your parents
didn't have a
background in business yourself didn't
either
myself included was there a huge
learning curve for you did you ever feel
overwhelmed by how much you had to learn
or were you always excited to learn the
next thing
i think both because everything that i
learned here was so new
like i haven't heard anything like this
in my life
like i told you before my family didn't
have business background so for me was
everything was very new but i was very
excited because
uh it gave you trust in like oh my god
you know so many
you know now so many things you know you
are a business owner now you can
yeah it was very very very nice
and i can say that this program has
changed my life
by giving me this knowledge and success
and i can say
success because even maybe for other
people is small but for me like the
profit that i make
here from these three products that i
have
now it's more than my monthly salary
so for me is a life changer for sure
yeah
well and tell me more about how it has
changed your life
um are you still working at your job
right now
um is just seeing these numbers on the
screen like knowing that you're
generating this revenue is is just
knowing that alone life-changing
that that what i'm trying to get at is
you know
knowing that hey i can make ten thousand
a month
online you know that that oh that means
that you know this is just the beginning
like i can continue to grow this
as much or as little as i want you know
depends on what your goals are
but um knowing that now you've opened
the door
and that you can create whatever you
want to create online and
it gives you freedom because you now if
you want to
go full time online you could do that so
tell me how has this impacted your life
whether
you know mentally just your mindset
around
making money or making money online but
also just
you're in your environment so
both so i'm still working a nine to five
job and i'm doing this as a side hustle
but yes i'm planning to go all online
because because of everything
you have free time i'm doing something
that i really like
and it became very easy by
time just looking at the numbers and
saying
i balance my salary and my life
when i'm going to a job and this is like
going up up still right right in the
near future
big decision yeah i recall um
i was working um it took me two years
before i quit my
part-time job and went full-time with my
business
i was like making way more in my
business than i was at my job but i was
constantly reinvesting those profits
back into my business because i didn't
want to take anything out from it
but at a certain point i just realized
that like i mean at this point i have
like
cash reserves and my time is better
spent working in my business than it is
at my job
so do you have like a certain goal or
kind of a time frame of when you would
want to quit your job or you're just
going to take it
day by day and see how you feel
so i'm planning at this
year i started a partnership with
stephen and robert it's called
unite where all the coaches
are are on your side
to grow and see your business how they
grow and i'm planning
like to launch between 10 and 12
products this year
and i think in about two years because
like you said you have to reinvest
all the profit that you make you have to
reinvest you have to
wait a bit until you can really enjoy
and i think maybe in two years
i will think to quit my job and go
everything i i'm very curious maybe
earlier let's see yeah yeah it can be
good to be very conservative
too right and i always say to people
don't quit your job right away because
the idea is your job supports your
lifestyle so that your business can
support your business
and so that you are not taking away from
either or
um so that makes sense and um
you you you mentioned you know i wanted
to ask did you ever
take out any kind of like external
funding
or loans to start your business or are
you just kind of reinvesting because
that's a question people often ask
like i don't have enough money to start
an amazon business
and should i take out a loan or get some
funding to get started
uh i hate my i had my own money
but i also asked for my parents to help
me a bit
i really would not suggest to take a
loan
i don't know maybe someone you can ask
someone you can trust
but i will not take a loan my person
this is my personal like
advice or something like that right but
with this course i think with
few money you can start
and then you can grow yeah yeah because
the idea in the marketplace superheroes
course is like
when you're picking simple small
products usually they cost
less per unit than with like those
you know more cool unique products
they usually cost a little bit more per
unit and your inventory is like your
biggest expense
when you're starting your business so if
you can like get um
products that are you know cheaper uh
that will
significantly reduce the cost of
starting the business
now you mentioned your family um what
does your family think
about you starting an online business
like this and do they understand it and
do they support you in this decision yes
yes they are supporting me and they are
very happy for me
in the beginning they were like a bit
skeptikal and say
okay tell me more about it before i give
you money
to invest they all they will not
understand anyway i tried to explain
them
every step but like no business
background so
they said okay we will trust you on this
one
and go for it right and
um do you have any friends that are
curious about what you're doing right
now have you shared this with other
people and
do you know anyone else in your circle
that's starting
an amazon business in romania uh
just a few friends and
because everyone that is asking so okay
so how what are you selling what are you
selling not
how are you selling okay you're making
money yes okay what are you saying
why are you kids watering myself he's
like ask me how
how are you doing you know you want to
do it for yourself
just ask me how that's so true yeah it's
like
um how does that thing that saying goes
it says
uh give a man for a fish and he eats for
a day
teach a man to fish and he eats for a
lifetime right
and it's like people want you to give
them a product but it's like hey if you
actually learn how to do the product
research yourself
then not only will you be able to launch
one product but you can launch
multiple products which is what's going
to lead to your financial freedom right
so it's the education
that is worth that's worth the learning
it's worth learning how to do this whole
thing
yes but they are searching for the for
the easy steps
a short way it's like okay
and yeah yeah yeah that's the thing is
that you know if you if you want to
create something real in your life you
can't be taking shortcuts
and if you're the type of person who
wants to take shortcuts with everything
then you know you got to take a hard
look at your life because
you know your results are going to be a
reflection of how
you are you what you're creating and how
you do
anything is how you do everything so if
you're always taking shortcuts then you
know you might not have the best results
um so antonella do you have
anything that you would like to share
with our viewers today
um you know being in a position you are
now um
having three years almost three years of
experience selling on amazon under your
belt
um is there any advice that you'd like
to share knowing that
you know maybe the people who are
watching this video have not yet started
their business
and they're watching because they're
curious they're attracted
but there may be fearful maybe a little
bit intimidated
any advice that you want to give to them
so i would say don't be scared to do
something
you're afraid of i know it sounds weird
and stupid but
for those people who have like second
thoughts
for me this changed my life in good for
you maybe it will be more than that
so just believe in yourself and do it
and
don't waste more time because
i really wish i could have done this
earlier
