00:00:22 00:00:26 because the truth is that
00:00:23 00:00:27 it's kind of a big blurry gray area and
00:00:26 00:00:29 there's not one
00:00:27 00:00:31 linear path from where you are to where
00:00:29 00:00:32 you want to be a lot depends on what
00:00:31 00:00:34 you've been doing
00:00:32 00:00:35 your strategy whether you have budgets
00:00:34 00:00:37 or not and that's what i'm here to help

00:00:41 00:00:44 the first thing i want to kind of paint

00:00:44 00:00:47 the spectrum that is sales versus
00:00:46 00:00:50 marketing
00:00:47 00:00:51 now in this timeline okay so we've got
00:00:50 00:00:53 time going
00:00:51 00:00:56 this way here what i like you to think
00:00:53 00:00:59 of is marketing
00:00:56 00:00:59 is everything that happens before we go
00:00:59 00:01:02 for the sale
00:00:59 00:01:03 now the sale is the customer acquisition
00:01:02 00:01:05 moment okay so
00:01:03 00:01:07 a sale is when you literally direct
00:01:05 00:01:09 someone to some sort of a sales page now
00:01:07 00:01:10 this could be your sales page
00:01:09 00:01:13 but it could also be an affiliate sales
00:01:10 00:01:15 page right and when you direct someone
00:01:13 00:01:16 who you obviously have encountered
00:01:15 00:01:18 you're obviously connecting with them
00:01:16 00:01:19 through some sort of content whether
00:01:18 00:01:22 it's a video
00:01:19 00:01:23 a blog post an ad a social post etc you
00:01:22 00:01:26 direct them towards an
00:01:23 00:01:27 offer okay and that moment of whether
00:01:26 00:01:29 they decide yes or no
00:01:27 00:01:31 to take that offer whether it's yours or
00:01:29 00:01:32 an affiliate that's the moment of the
00:01:31 00:01:34 sale
00:01:32 00:01:36 and if you notike here there's a lot
00:01:34 00:01:39 more that goes into marketing
00:01:36 00:01:39 than there is sales now this is also
00:01:39 00:01:42 kind of
00:01:39 00:01:45 inversely proportional that the world of
00:01:42 00:01:47 generating sales online the skill and
00:01:45 00:01:49 the ability to get another human being
00:01:47 00:01:50 on the internet to pull out their credit
00:01:49 00:01:53 card and purchase something
00:01:50 00:01:55 is a very deep scale so while the time
00:01:53 00:01:57 around marketing can often be a lot
00:01:55 00:01:58 longer the kind of depth of knowledge
00:01:57 00:02:01 and the depth of skills required
00:01:58 00:02:04 in order to create sales can often be a
00:02:01 00:02:04 bit more complex than most beginners
00:02:04 00:02:06 have
00:02:04 00:02:07 now here's what i like to think of this
00:02:06 00:02:08 so i'm going to go ahead and erase this
00:02:07 00:02:10 i'm going to clear our canvas and i'm
00:02:08 00:02:13 going to kind of start us over
00:02:10 00:02:14 in the world of marketing with sales
00:02:13 00:02:17 over here
00:02:14 00:02:20 at the end i like to use organic traffic
00:02:17 00:02:21 because organic traffic allows me to
00:02:20 00:02:23 first
00:02:21 00:02:26 create content that essentially connects
00:02:23 00:02:26 me with an audience
00:02:26 00:02:30 okay this is the moment of gaining the
00:02:28 00:02:31 awareness in the marketplace so at this
00:02:30 00:02:34 point i've got
00:02:31 00:02:35 about 175 000 subscribers and i've built
00:02:34 00:02:37 this kind of
00:02:35 00:02:39 awareness with those 175 000 people and
00:02:37 00:02:39 the millions of people who have watched
00:02:39 00:02:41 my videos
00:02:39 00:02:43 i've built this awareness through
00:02:41 00:02:45 publishing content through publishing
00:02:43 00:02:46 keyword-focused videos
00:02:45 00:02:48 that are really helpful i've been
00:02:46 00:02:49 focusing on utility
00:02:48 00:02:51 value and that's how i've really been
00:02:49 00:02:55 able to grow a name for myself
00:02:51 00:02:57 and an audience okay 700 ish videos
00:02:55 00:02:59 over the course of about five years is
00:02:57 00:03:00 what we're looking at here now
00:02:59 00:03:02 but then the second thing that you could
00:03:00 00:03:05 build is trust now
00:03:02 00:03:07 trust is usually one of the keys as to
00:03:05 00:03:10 why people don't purchase okay
00:03:07 00:03:12 you can go become a representative
00:03:10 00:03:14 for a network marketing business you can
00:03:12 00:03:14 go become a representative for a drop
00:03:14 00:03:16 shipping product
00:03:14 00:03:18 you can go become an affiliate and you
00:03:16 00:03:20 can start spamming your links everywhere
00:03:18 00:03:21 but if the people who see your links
00:03:20 00:03:22 don't trust you
00:03:21 00:03:24 they don't trust your brand and they
00:03:22 00:03:25 don't trust your product they're never
00:03:24 00:03:27 going to purchase
00:03:25 00:03:29 so in the marketing game we have the
00:03:27 00:03:30 ability to leverage content to build
00:03:29 00:03:31 trust
00:03:30 00:03:34 and then there's another one that's
00:03:31 00:03:35 likability you've probably heard the
00:03:34 00:03:37 phrase that
00:03:35 00:03:38 you got to get people to know like and
00:03:37 00:03:39 trust you
00:03:38 00:03:41 before they'll be willing to purchase
00:03:39 00:03:44 and this is why i'm such a proponent
00:03:41 00:03:47 over organic content marketing track
00:03:44 00:03:49 traffic whether that's blogging whether
00:03:47 00:03:50 it's podcasting or using
00:03:49 00:03:53 videos because it gives you an
00:03:50 00:03:54 opportunity to deliver results
00:03:53 00:03:56 in advance and that's one of the reasons
00:03:54 00:03:57 why i've been so successful is
00:03:56 00:04:00 i've helped through my youtube videos
00:03:57 00:04:01 that are 100 free i've helped thousands
00:04:00 00:04:04 upon thousands of people
00:04:01 00:04:05 start blogs drive traffic and really
00:04:04 00:04:07 truly build
00:04:05 00:04:10 real actual businesses online which is
00:04:07 00:04:11 why when i recommend a specific product
00:04:10 00:04:13 whether it's as an affiliate
00:04:11 00:04:15 or whether i create a specific product
00:04:13 00:04:16 and then recommend people go
00:04:15 00:04:19 take a look at my sales page that's why
00:04:16 00:04:21 i drive massive amounts of sales
00:04:19 00:04:22 in short time frames that's why i'm able
00:04:21 00:04:25 to win affiliate contests
00:04:22 00:04:26 it's not that one email it's not that

00:04:26 00:04:29 it's all of the work i've done to grow
00:04:28 00:04:31 an audience to build trust
00:04:29 00:04:34 and to gain likability the other thing i
00:04:31 00:04:36 want to tok about is beliefs okay
00:04:34 00:04:38 a lot of time why people will not
00:04:36 00:04:39 purchase is they don't believe you
00:04:38 00:04:41 they don't believe it's going to work
00:04:39 00:04:42 they don't believe your testimonials and
00:04:41 00:04:44 they don't believe it will work
00:04:42 00:04:47 for them you know it's the whole like oh
00:04:44 00:04:48 if you knew my story you knew i'd
00:04:47 00:04:50 never be able to do this internet
00:04:48 00:04:52 marketing stuff but what i've done
00:04:50 00:04:53 is i've built out content in a way that
00:04:52 00:04:54 i get people into motion
00:04:53 00:04:56 and they get into motion they start
00:04:54 00:04:57 publishing blog posts and they start
00:04:56 00:04:58 doing keyword research and they start
00:04:57 00:05:00 doing
00:04:58 00:05:02 the basics of search engine optimization
00:05:00 00:05:03 and then they stik with it long enough
00:05:02 00:05:05 to where they start to see impressions
00:05:03 00:05:06 and they start to see clicks
00:05:05 00:05:08 and then they start to believe this
00:05:06 00:05:09 stuff works and then they get their
00:05:08 00:05:10 first paycheck and they get their first
00:05:09 00:05:11 amazon commissioner they get their first
00:05:10 00:05:12 sale for the product that they're
00:05:11 00:05:14 selling
00:05:12 00:05:16 and then they realize oh my gosh this
00:05:14 00:05:18 stuff works and then they believe
00:05:16 00:05:20 that it's possible for them to build a
00:05:18 00:05:21 real business online that could support
00:05:20 00:05:23 the lifestyle of their dream
00:05:21 00:05:25 at that point when i have checked all of
00:05:23 00:05:28 these separate boxes
00:05:25 00:05:28 right here i'm in a position to make an
00:05:28 00:05:30 offer
00:05:28 00:05:32 and i don't have to go crazy with the
00:05:30 00:05:34 sales copy because they already know me
00:05:32 00:05:36 they like me they trust me i've
00:05:34 00:05:37 demonstrated in advance my ability to
00:05:36 00:05:40 help you
00:05:37 00:05:41 get results this is all marketing now
00:05:40 00:05:44 another kind of almost
00:05:41 00:05:44 abstract way to look at this is through
00:05:44 00:05:47 like
00:05:44 00:05:48 i'm running what could be considered the
00:05:47 00:05:50 equivalent
00:05:48 00:05:51 of like an old school magazine i'm just
00:05:50 00:05:54 making content
00:05:51 00:05:55 every week i'm making new content all
00:05:54 00:05:57 the time and i know it's abstract
00:05:55 00:05:59 because i'm using video on a digital
00:05:57 00:06:00 and nobody really buys magazines anymore
00:05:59 00:06:00 but if you think about what a magazine
00:06:00 00:06:03 does
00:06:00 00:06:04 is it creates content content content
00:06:03 00:06:06 and embedded in the content there's
00:06:04 00:06:08 advertisements that ultimately
00:06:06 00:06:09 lead to sales propositions okay i'm
00:06:08 00:06:10 going to clean that up a little bit
00:06:09 00:06:12 sorry about that
00:06:10 00:06:14 so now i want to tok about the
00:06:12 00:06:15 potential shortcut now i'm saying
00:06:14 00:06:17 shortcut because
00:06:15 00:06:19 it can condense the timeline down but
00:06:17 00:06:20 that does not mean that it's
00:06:19 00:06:22 easier and this is very very important
00:06:20 00:06:24 because you might be thinking well miles
00:06:22 00:06:26 do i have to leverage content do i have
00:06:24 00:06:27 to put out all these blog posts and all
00:06:26 00:06:29 this content
00:06:27 00:06:31 tiknically speaking no you actually
00:06:29 00:06:33 don't but the challenge is
00:06:31 00:06:35 that you need to leverage more skills if
00:06:33 00:06:37 you're going to bypass the process
00:06:35 00:06:38 of growing an audience because
00:06:37 00:06:41 tiknically speaking
00:06:38 00:06:45 you can run an advertisement that
00:06:41 00:06:45 advertisement can go to a landing page
00:06:46 00:06:49 and then that can take someone to an
00:06:48 00:06:51 offer
00:06:49 00:06:53 and i'm gonna be honest with you this is
00:06:51 00:06:55 the simplest way to grow
00:06:53 00:06:57 but here's the challenge the skill and
00:06:55 00:07:00 the art of copywriting
00:06:57 00:07:01 what is copywriting it's salesmanship in
00:07:00 00:07:03 print
00:07:01 00:07:05 and in theory it is possible to walk
00:07:03 00:07:06 someone through all of those same things
00:07:05 00:07:08 we toked about
00:07:06 00:07:10 the no the like the trust and the
00:07:08 00:07:12 beliefs we can do that between
00:07:10 00:07:13 essentially the content on the ad and
00:07:12 00:07:15 the content on the landing page
00:07:13 00:07:17 and when you structure your content in a
00:07:15 00:07:19 way and your advertisement
00:07:17 00:07:21 pre-frames them the the problem and the
00:07:19 00:07:23 solution and then your landing page or
00:07:21 00:07:25 your sales page or your funnel
00:07:23 00:07:26 right this could be an email opt-in the
00:07:25 00:07:28 offer could be
00:07:26 00:07:30 a one-time offer or a sales page there
00:07:28 00:07:31 this could just be straight to a sales
00:07:30 00:07:32 page it's kind of irrelevant how you
00:07:31 00:07:34 package this together
00:07:32 00:07:36 but when you are taking the time to
00:07:34 00:07:38 write one piece of content
00:07:36 00:07:39 or a mini series of content that's
00:07:38 00:07:42 distributed
00:07:39 00:07:44 evenly kind of quickly like a funnel
00:07:42 00:07:46 then you have to be able to walk
00:07:44 00:07:48 human beings skeptikal individuals on
00:07:46 00:07:49 the other side of the computer
00:07:48 00:07:51 you have to walk them through all of
00:07:49 00:07:54 those different parts of
00:07:51 00:07:55 the sales process the know the like the
00:07:54 00:07:57 trust and the beliefs
00:07:55 00:07:58 in one shot in order to make the sale
00:07:57 00:07:59 and
00:07:58 00:08:01 i'll be honest with you that is an
00:07:59 00:08:02 incredibly difficult proposition which
00:08:01 00:08:04 is why
00:08:02 00:08:05 i like to focus in on generating the
00:08:04 00:08:08 content
00:08:05 00:08:09 first that's going to grow the audience
00:08:08 00:08:12 and build the trustworthiness
00:08:09 00:08:12 first so when my ad if you want to call
00:08:12 00:08:14 it that
00:08:12 00:08:16 it's simply me mentioning it in a video
00:08:14 00:08:17 that i've got this thing that if you're
00:08:16 00:08:19 interested in go check it out

00:08:19 00:08:21 i say hey by the way i've been using
00:08:20 00:08:23 this tool
00:08:21 00:08:25 it's speeding up the process of me
00:08:23 00:08:27 creating blog posts drastikally

00:08:27 00:08:30 click they already know me like me and
00:08:29 00:08:31 trust me
00:08:30 00:08:33 so when they see that offer their
00:08:31 00:08:35 likelihood of converting goes
00:08:33 00:08:37 way way up the other thing that's
00:08:35 00:08:38 required if you are trying to
00:08:37 00:08:40 speed up this process to where you
00:08:38 00:08:42 literally run an ad that
00:08:40 00:08:44 sends people to a landing page and sends
00:08:42 00:08:46 people to an offer the the amount of
00:08:44 00:08:48 tiknology required to do this correctly
00:08:46 00:08:50 is potentially a little bit higher so on
00:08:48 00:08:51 the ad you need to have budgets in order
00:08:50 00:08:53 to run the ad
00:08:51 00:08:55 on the landing page you need to either
00:08:53 00:08:56 have a premium theme
00:08:55 00:08:58 on wordpress like thrive themes which is
00:08:56 00:09:00 what i use and recommend
00:08:58 00:09:01 that allow you to make sales pages to
00:09:00 00:09:02 make opt-in pages
00:09:01 00:09:04 or you need to use something like
00:09:02 00:09:05 leadpages which is you know fifty
00:09:04 00:09:07 dollars per month
00:09:05 00:09:08 and then you have to have for your offer
00:09:07 00:09:10 some sort of a shopping cart whether
00:09:08 00:09:12 you're using sam cart which starts at 50
00:09:10 00:09:14 a month it goes up to 200 a month or
00:09:12 00:09:15 whether using thrive cards that cost
00:09:14 00:09:17 four or five hundred dollars uh one-time
00:09:15 00:09:20 fee to get it set up there's a lot more
00:09:17 00:09:21 money required to move down this path
00:09:20 00:09:23 and once you buy the tik
00:09:21 00:09:24 okay these are kind of um they're
00:09:23 00:09:28 ongoing fees but but they're they're
00:09:24 00:09:29 uh known fees they're fixed fees even if
00:09:28 00:09:30 it's 50 bucks a month for your landing
00:09:29 00:09:31 page builder
00:09:30 00:09:33 um and your your 50 bucks a month for
00:09:31 00:09:34 your shopping cart they're fixed known
00:09:33 00:09:36 fees
00:09:34 00:09:37 then your ad costs are the variable and
00:09:36 00:09:38 you might end up spending
00:09:37 00:09:40 thousands and thousands of dollars like
00:09:38 00:09:41 i did it took me thousands upon
00:09:40 00:09:43 thousands of dollars
00:09:41 00:09:45 of testing and running facebook ads and
00:09:43 00:09:48 youtube ads to learn the system to learn
00:09:45 00:09:50 how it all works to learn how to craft
00:09:48 00:09:52 offers in a way and to craft content in
00:09:50 00:09:55 a way that actually gets the human being
00:09:52 00:09:57 to take out their credit card and make a
00:09:55 00:09:57 purchase it's an incredibly difficult
00:09:57 00:10:00 thing to do
00:09:57 00:10:01 so you need to have budgets in order to
00:10:00 00:10:03 go down this path and i know a lot of
00:10:01 00:10:04 you watching right now
00:10:03 00:10:06 you don't have necessarily a large
00:10:04 00:10:08 dollar based budget but you have the
00:10:06 00:10:10 time and energy based budget
00:10:08 00:10:12 and that's where i really prefer uh
00:10:10 00:10:12 building what are called authority sites
00:10:12 00:10:14 okay
00:10:12 00:10:16 and on the authority site you start by
00:10:14 00:10:19 making content
00:10:16 00:10:22 and the content delivers utility okay
00:10:19 00:10:23 you actually help people solve their
00:10:22 00:10:26 goals
00:10:23 00:10:28 answer their questions answer kind of um
00:10:26 00:10:30 solve their problems if you will it's
00:10:28 00:10:31 the utility value of the content that
00:10:30 00:10:34 you're creating
00:10:31 00:10:34 that proves you are someone who can be
00:10:34 00:10:37 trusted
00:10:34 00:10:39 because they actually take your advice
00:10:37 00:10:42 that you give freely on your content
00:10:39 00:10:43 they enable they implement what you
00:10:42 00:10:45 taught them and voila
00:10:43 00:10:47 they're on the path the path gets easier
00:10:45 00:10:48 their goal gets closer they get micro
00:10:47 00:10:51 victories on the way there
00:10:48 00:10:52 you become their trusted advisor at this
00:10:51 00:10:54 point in time
00:10:52 00:10:56 you can offer them a free report you can
00:10:54 00:10:57 offer them a free download you can offer
00:10:56 00:10:59 them
00:10:57 00:11:01 a lead magnet that gets them onto your
00:10:59 00:11:04 email list which allows you to then
00:11:01 00:11:08 kind of overcome objections
00:11:04 00:11:10 and build more beliefs and ultimately
00:11:08 00:11:12 you get to the point where you make an
00:11:10 00:11:14 offer whether that's your
00:11:12 00:11:16 offer or whether that's an affiliate
00:11:14 00:11:19 offer this is one of the most
00:11:16 00:11:21 proven ways for anyone to leverage
00:11:19 00:11:23 what they know or what they're willing
00:11:21 00:11:25 to go research
00:11:23 00:11:27 and learn in order to teach those
00:11:25 00:11:30 searching the internet for
00:11:27 00:11:31 answers for solutions for how to for
00:11:30 00:11:32 useful content right
00:11:31 00:11:35 we become the creators of the useful
00:11:32 00:11:37 content and this is all the marketing
00:11:35 00:11:40 and when we get the marketing done
00:11:37 00:11:40 correctly bingo it lines us up for the
00:11:40 00:11:43 sale so
00:11:40 00:11:44 how do you know where you are in this
00:11:43 00:11:46 process and where are you
00:11:44 00:11:47 on the path this is one of the big big
00:11:46 00:11:49 keys because
00:11:47 00:11:51 you want to be working within kind of
00:11:49 00:11:52 whatever stage or framework within your
00:11:51 00:11:53 strategy
00:11:52 00:11:55 that's going to get you to the next
00:11:53 00:11:56 level best so i want to ask you a few
00:11:55 00:11:58 questions
00:11:56 00:12:00 do you have an audience yet of people
00:11:58 00:12:03 who know you like you and trust you
00:12:00 00:12:04 if yes great it's absolutely time to be
00:12:03 00:12:05 considering
00:12:04 00:12:07 do you have an email list because that's
00:12:05 00:12:09 what comes after an audience okay it's
00:12:07 00:12:11 one thing to have a youtube audience
00:12:09 00:12:14 here it's another thing to have 14
00:12:11 00:12:16 15 20 10 6 3 2 5 000 people
00:12:14 00:12:19 on an email list who have raised their
00:12:16 00:12:21 hand and say i want more content from
00:12:19 00:12:22 you this is the number one asset within
00:12:21 00:12:25 your business so
00:12:22 00:12:26 if you don't have an audience yet the
00:12:25 00:12:27 other question you need to be asking
00:12:26 00:12:30 yourself is do you have
00:12:27 00:12:31 budgets and do you have the time and
00:12:30 00:12:33 energy to
00:12:31 00:12:35 really geek out and go all in on the
00:12:33 00:12:36 world of copywriting
00:12:35 00:12:38 so if you don't have the budgets or
00:12:36 00:12:39 you're not really ready to go
00:12:38 00:12:41 all in on the world of copywriting
00:12:39 00:12:43 content is the way
00:12:41 00:12:44 then you just decide am i a blogger are
00:12:43 00:12:46 you more of a writer
00:12:44 00:12:48 at nature are you a video person do you
00:12:46 00:12:49 like kind of showing up on camera like i
00:12:48 00:12:50 do and just sharing what you know or
00:12:49 00:12:53 sharing what you're learning
00:12:50 00:12:55 through video or are you more of an
00:12:53 00:12:58 interviewer and a podcaster
00:12:55 00:13:00 who is a a sleuth who's seeking
00:12:58 00:13:01 the knowledge from other experts who
00:13:00 00:13:02 have the knowledge which is a great
00:13:01 00:13:03 model
00:13:02 00:13:05 if you're not the expert you can go
00:13:03 00:13:06 interview the experts in a podcast
00:13:05 00:13:08 format
00:13:06 00:13:10 and this is how you can build that
00:13:08 00:13:12 nobility likeability and trustability so
00:13:10 00:13:14 do you have an audience do you have an
00:13:12 00:13:16 email list do you have budgets
00:13:14 00:13:18 and then the question is do you have
00:13:16 00:13:20 your own products okay and if you do
00:13:18 00:13:23 are you actively selling your products
00:13:20 00:13:24 do you have an offer that converts
00:13:23 00:13:26 when you get yourself to a point that
00:13:24 00:13:29 you've got content and you've got an
00:13:26 00:13:31 offer that converts i do believe it is
00:13:29 00:13:33 very very very worthwhile
00:13:31 00:13:35 to invest in facebook ads to invest
00:13:33 00:13:38 potentially in youtube ads
00:13:35 00:13:39 to invest in getting more attention on
00:13:38 00:13:42 your offers that are
00:13:39 00:13:43 already proven to work with the people
00:13:42 00:13:45 who you've connected with
00:13:43 00:13:47 already now that's a giant spectrum
00:13:45 00:13:48 there's a number of different ways that
00:13:47 00:13:50 you can
00:13:48 00:13:51 plug into that and just remember that
00:13:50 00:13:53 you want to go
00:13:51 00:13:54 build an audience of people who know you
00:13:53 00:13:56 like you
00:13:54 00:13:58 and trust you so you can really help
