Coupon Organization: How I use coupons
- Hey guys! I wanted to make this video because it was requested by some of my subscribers.
- In this video, I'm going to explain my process of couponing and where I started from.
- Just a heads up, this video may be a little longer than usual because I want to explain my process thoroughly.
- Also, everyone's way of couponing is different, so I'm not telling you how you should do it. I'm just sharing what works best for me and my family.
Background:
- I started saving money at the grocery store in 2008 by meal planning and buying things that were on sale.
- In 2009-2010, I started getting serious about couponing and decided to make it a part of my lifestyle.
- I started by purchasing a copy of the Sunday paper and eventually got a subscription because that's where you get most of your coupons.
- I also use online resources like southernsavers.com and have a subscription to All You magazine, which has a ton of coupons.
Couponing Process:
- I used to use a coupon binder, but it took up too much time, so I switched to a filing system.
- I organize my coupons by month and have a category for weekly circular ads.
- I use southernsavers.com to find sale items and coupon matchups.
- I only cut out the coupons I need for that day and put them in a plastic accordion binder.
- I highlight items that come from the same circular to make it easier to find them in my file folders.
- I also do meal planning and make a shopping list based on what's on sale and what I need.
- I take my coupons to the store and put them in a today folder.
- If an item is out of stock, I can get a rain check and use the coupon next week.
- Couponing doesn't have to be extreme. I save approximately 40-50% every week on groceries without going overboard.
- I don't have a stockpile or a room dedicated to couponing. I just store my things in cabinets and my pantry.
- If you have any questions about couponing, feel free to ask in the comments. I'd be happy to help!
- Thanks for watching!
