00:00:05 00:00:09 when selling on amazon so i have got my
00:00:08 00:00:11 computer right here and i'm going to be
00:00:09 00:00:12 pulling up a bunch of amazon listings to
00:00:11 00:00:14 give you examples on how you could
00:00:12 00:00:15 differentiate yourself
00:00:14 00:00:17 and it doesn't have to cost you an arm
00:00:15 00:00:19 and a leg it could be something very
00:00:17 00:00:21 minor that makes a big difference now
00:00:19 00:00:21 this is something that you should be
00:00:21 00:00:24 thinking about
00:00:21 00:00:26 in advance before you place your first
00:00:24 00:00:28 order with your manufacturer because it
00:00:26 00:00:30 could alter that order
00:00:28 00:00:32 um so before we dive into the screen
00:00:30 00:00:33 share let's just tok about why this is
00:00:32 00:00:36 important
00:00:33 00:00:37 um it's important because the end result
00:00:36 00:00:39 is that you're just going to have
00:00:37 00:00:41 more revenue it's going to increase your
00:00:39 00:00:43 sales because more people are going to
00:00:41 00:00:46 be interested in buying your product
00:00:43 00:00:48 and you know if you don't differentiate
00:00:46 00:00:50 yourself then that means that your plan
00:00:48 00:00:52 is to find a product that's selling well
00:00:50 00:00:55 on amazon and sell the exact same thing
00:00:52 00:00:56 and it just doesn't work anymore that
00:00:55 00:00:59 just won't work
00:00:56 00:01:00 and truth be told six years ago that
00:00:59 00:01:02 might have worked where you go when you
00:01:00 00:01:04 find something that's selling well and
00:01:02 00:01:06 then you sell this exact same thing
00:01:04 00:01:07 but now there's a lot more competition
00:01:06 00:01:09 on amazon
00:01:07 00:01:11 the sellers are far more experienced
00:01:09 00:01:13 they know how this game works
00:01:11 00:01:14 and you're not really going to get away
00:01:13 00:01:16 with that you have to
00:01:14 00:01:18 get more creative now on the note of
00:01:16 00:01:20 competition because i know that
00:01:18 00:01:22 sometimes that's a red flag people get
00:01:20 00:01:24 really worried when they hear that
00:01:22 00:01:25 there's competition on amazon
00:01:24 00:01:29 um they start thinking that oh the
00:01:25 00:01:31 opportunity is gone amazon fba is dead
00:01:29 00:01:32 and my response to that is that yes it's
00:01:31 00:01:35 true
00:01:32 00:01:37 there is far more competition on amazon
00:01:35 00:01:38 there absolutely is you can't deny it
00:01:37 00:01:41 there are way more sellers
00:01:38 00:01:43 but that's because there's more demand
00:01:41 00:01:45 people see the opportunity of selling
00:01:43 00:01:47 online because that's where
00:01:45 00:01:48 we're all heading if you look at the
00:01:47 00:01:51 numbers this past
00:01:48 00:01:52 spring online shopping the industry as a
00:01:51 00:01:54 whole
00:01:52 00:01:56 experienced 10 years growth in only
00:01:54 00:01:58 eight weeks time
00:01:56 00:01:59 that's massive growth and so if more
00:01:58 00:02:01 people
00:01:59 00:02:02 are shopping online that means there's
00:02:01 00:02:05 more demand
00:02:02 00:02:07 for products to be sold online and who
00:02:05 00:02:09 is supplying those products
00:02:07 00:02:11 us people who are e-commerce sellers
00:02:09 00:02:12 people who have brands online that are
00:02:11 00:02:15 selling products
00:02:12 00:02:16 so there is more opportunity because
00:02:15 00:02:18 there's more demand
00:02:16 00:02:19 and that also just means that naturally
00:02:18 00:02:21 there's going to be more competition
00:02:19 00:02:22 because more people want to get in on
00:02:21 00:02:24 this
00:02:22 00:02:25 so you know yes there's more competition
00:02:24 00:02:27 but that just simply means that you need
00:02:25 00:02:28 to get more creative
00:02:27 00:02:31 and so that's where this whole
00:02:28 00:02:33 differentiating your product comes in
00:02:31 00:02:35 it's really tapping into that artist
00:02:33 00:02:36 side of your brain that
00:02:35 00:02:38 thinks about okay how could i
00:02:36 00:02:40 differentiate myself from everyone else
00:02:38 00:02:42 really try and come up with something
00:02:40 00:02:43 unique or or not it could even simply be
00:02:42 00:02:45 just your price
00:02:43 00:02:47 if you can find a manufacturer where you
00:02:45 00:02:50 can get the product at a
00:02:47 00:02:50 much less a cheaper price and you're
00:02:50 00:02:52 able to
00:02:50 00:02:54 mark your price down a little bit more
00:02:52 00:02:55 than everyone else that is one way that
00:02:54 00:02:58 you could differentiate yourself
00:02:55 00:02:59 without needing to alter the product so
00:02:58 00:03:01 we're going to do a screen share
00:02:59 00:03:03 and we're going to tok about different
00:03:01 00:03:06 ways that you can differentiate yourself
00:03:03 00:03:08 so let's just get to it all right so i'm
00:03:06 00:03:09 here on amazon and the first example
00:03:08 00:03:12 here is a no
00:03:09 00:03:13 stuff dog toy so you can see here that
00:03:12 00:03:15 this is a five pack
00:03:13 00:03:18 and it looks similar to this one over
00:03:15 00:03:19 here which is also five pack but
00:03:18 00:03:21 the way that they've differentiated
00:03:19 00:03:23 themselves is in price so this is
00:03:21 00:03:28 something i alluded to earlier
00:03:23 00:03:31 this one is 1898 and this one is 16.99
00:03:28 00:03:33 so they have a better price so
00:03:31 00:03:34 you know many people might say well i'd
00:03:33 00:03:35 rather go with this one because simply
00:03:34 00:03:38 because of the price
00:03:35 00:03:40 so if you can find a way where you can
00:03:38 00:03:43 maybe you're making less profit
00:03:40 00:03:45 or maybe you found a supplier that is a
00:03:43 00:03:47 more inexpensive that allows you to sell
00:03:45 00:03:48 at a cheaper price for a similar profit
00:03:47 00:03:50 margin
00:03:48 00:03:52 then price can be a great way to
00:03:50 00:03:54 differentiate yourself
00:03:52 00:03:56 now i would recommend that if you are
00:03:54 00:03:59 just launching your product on amazon
00:03:56 00:04:00 you don't want to be selling at your
00:03:59 00:04:03 ideal
00:04:00 00:04:05 price point you want to be selling at a
00:04:03 00:04:07 lower price point and the reason being
00:04:05 00:04:09 is simply because again
00:04:07 00:04:11 you're a brand new seller people don't
00:04:09 00:04:14 have a reason to buy from you
00:04:11 00:04:15 you have no reviews no social proof
00:04:14 00:04:18 you know they'd much rather buy from
00:04:15 00:04:21 someone who has 722 reviews
00:04:18 00:04:23 and so if you can sell at a really good
00:04:21 00:04:27 price point it gives you an advantage
00:04:23 00:04:29 over the already existing sellers
00:04:27 00:04:30 so definitely when you're first
00:04:29 00:04:33 launching a product you want to be
00:04:30 00:04:36 pricing it at a lower price point
00:04:33 00:04:38 what that price is you can determine you
00:04:36 00:04:38 have to know what your profit margins
00:04:38 00:04:40 are
00:04:38 00:04:42 in order to determine that because you
00:04:40 00:04:44 don't want to be in the negative
00:04:42 00:04:45 you could be making no profit you know
00:04:44 00:04:48 just break
00:04:45 00:04:49 even just to kind of get those initial
00:04:48 00:04:52 sales get those initial reviews
00:04:49 00:04:54 and just kind of establish your listing
00:04:52 00:04:56 uh on the first or second page
00:04:54 00:04:57 and then slowly increase your price with
00:04:56 00:05:00 time
00:04:57 00:05:01 or you could still be making a profit
00:05:00 00:05:03 you just have to determine
00:05:01 00:05:04 how much you want to be making so price
00:05:03 00:05:06 is definitely
00:05:04 00:05:07 an attractive way to differentiate
00:05:06 00:05:11 yourself
00:05:07 00:05:13 you know people like good value okay so
00:05:11 00:05:15 the second one here is a grill brush
00:05:13 00:05:16 um you can see here that this one is
00:05:15 00:05:18 just one girl brush
00:05:16 00:05:20 versus this one we have two brushes
00:05:18 00:05:21 we've got this long one a shorter one
00:05:20 00:05:24 and a case
00:05:21 00:05:25 and so when i'm looking here i'm seeing
00:05:24 00:05:26 that there's about a four dollar
00:05:25 00:05:28 difference
00:05:26 00:05:29 but here i'm getting double the value so
00:05:28 00:05:31 you always have to think from the
00:05:29 00:05:34 customer's perspective
00:05:31 00:05:35 um does your customer just want one
00:05:34 00:05:37 grill brush
00:05:35 00:05:38 or would they be willing to pay an extra
00:05:37 00:05:40 four dollars for
00:05:38 00:05:42 two grill brushes and this seller has
00:05:40 00:05:44 determined that
00:05:42 00:05:46 they would and so that could be a great
00:05:44 00:05:48 advantage so you want to be able to
00:05:46 00:05:50 offer more value
00:05:48 00:05:52 so that's that's one thing here so this
00:05:50 00:05:54 isn't a bonus item this is part of the
00:05:52 00:05:56 package next i want to show you what a
00:05:54 00:05:58 bonus item looks like
00:05:56 00:06:00 so when a customer is going to purchase
00:05:58 00:06:01 this product they know that they paid
00:06:00 00:06:03 for both these brushes
00:06:01 00:06:05 in this price they're not thinking that
00:06:03 00:06:07 oh i paid for one brush and i get one
00:06:05 00:06:08 free that's not what the marketing is
00:06:07 00:06:11 telling us here
00:06:08 00:06:12 okay another one here is this nail
00:06:11 00:06:13 clipper
00:06:12 00:06:15 so you can see here they're including
00:06:13 00:06:17 some sort of bonus
00:06:15 00:06:18 on amazon you're not supposed to say
00:06:17 00:06:20 bonus or
00:06:18 00:06:22 free or anything like that so they just
00:06:20 00:06:24 put like a ribbon that
00:06:22 00:06:25 indicates it's a bonus and so if you
00:06:24 00:06:27 click on it
00:06:25 00:06:29 you can see here that they're giving you
00:06:27 00:06:31 some sort of
00:06:29 00:06:34 tool and so this would be something
00:06:31 00:06:37 that's super inexpensive to get
00:06:34 00:06:37 from your supplier um that they can just
00:06:37 00:06:39 add in
00:06:37 00:06:40 for you know and sell it at the same
00:06:39 00:06:41 price that they were originally gonna
00:06:40 00:06:43 sell it
00:06:41 00:06:45 make a little bit less of a profit but
00:06:43 00:06:49 nothing too significant
00:06:45 00:06:51 another thing here is uh a warranty
00:06:49 00:06:52 so a warranty can be a great idea a
00:06:51 00:06:55 lifetime warranty
00:06:52 00:06:56 amazon offers their 30-day return policy
00:06:55 00:06:58 but
00:06:56 00:07:00 if you offer people a lifetime warranty
00:06:58 00:07:02 that gives them a lot of assurance that
00:07:00 00:07:05 in the event that they you know the
00:07:02 00:07:07 product is uh damaged it gets broken
00:07:05 00:07:08 whatever the case may be they can get a
00:07:07 00:07:10 new one a replacement
00:07:08 00:07:12 and uh so this is a great way to
00:07:10 00:07:13 differentiate yourself people like
00:07:12 00:07:16 seeing the badge
00:07:13 00:07:18 but also it can help you build your list
00:07:16 00:07:20 because in order for people to take
00:07:18 00:07:21 advantage of the warranty they have to
00:07:20 00:07:23 register
00:07:21 00:07:25 their product and the way that you can
00:07:23 00:07:27 do that is you can have them
00:07:25 00:07:28 you can have some sort of opt-in on your
00:07:27 00:07:31 amazon packaging
00:07:28 00:07:33 and then it it funnels them towards a
00:07:31 00:07:35 landing page where they have to
00:07:33 00:07:37 opt-in using their name and their email
00:07:35 00:07:39 and once they've opted in then they're
00:07:37 00:07:41 on your warranty list
00:07:39 00:07:42 and so that way you can get their email
00:07:41 00:07:44 address which gives you a means to
00:07:42 00:07:46 communicate with them in the future
00:07:44 00:07:48 that's definitely something to consider
00:07:46 00:07:50 as well oh yeah the posture correctors
00:07:48 00:07:52 this is actually something i bought
00:07:50 00:07:54 today so we'll see if it's any good
00:07:52 00:07:56 um you know there's a lot of people kind
00:07:54 00:07:58 of selling the same thing and so that's
00:07:56 00:08:00 that's the challenge right is when a lot
00:07:58 00:08:01 of people are selling something similar
00:08:00 00:08:03 this person and this person it looks
00:08:01 00:08:05 very similar this person's got really
00:08:03 00:08:06 cool packaging so that's a way to
00:08:05 00:08:08 differentiate yourself
00:08:06 00:08:10 nobody else really has the packaging in
00:08:08 00:08:12 their photo they do
00:08:10 00:08:14 and they made it look really big and
00:08:12 00:08:16 professional so if you do have nice
00:08:14 00:08:17 packaging i would include it in your
00:08:16 00:08:19 main image
00:08:17 00:08:20 you're allowed to include in your main
00:08:19 00:08:22 image anything that's actually coming
00:08:20 00:08:23 with your product
00:08:22 00:08:25 so if your packaging comes with your
00:08:23 00:08:27 product you can include it if it
00:08:25 00:08:29 if it doesn't then you can include it if
00:08:27 00:08:30 you have ugly packaging then i would
00:08:29 00:08:33 avoid putting it in your
00:08:30 00:08:34 main image but if it is attractive then
00:08:33 00:08:35 go for it
00:08:34 00:08:37 you can see here this is some sort of
00:08:35 00:08:40 bonus item that they're offering let's
00:08:37 00:08:43 check it out
00:08:40 00:08:46 so they're offering this looks like some
00:08:43 00:08:46 sort of stiker
00:08:48 00:08:52 yeah i guess some sort of additional
00:08:50 00:08:54 stiker they must be toking about it
00:08:52 00:08:55 somewhere here
00:08:54 00:08:58 but ultimately like it's helping their
00:08:55 00:08:59 listing stand out a bit more as opposed
00:08:58 00:09:00 to for example this one that doesn't
00:08:59 00:09:03 have anything
00:09:00 00:09:05 they're also offering some sort of a bag
00:09:03 00:09:06 so that could be nice i could get
00:09:05 00:09:08 you know to have a bag to carry these
00:09:06 00:09:09 things around in
00:09:08 00:09:12 so they're showing it in their main
00:09:09 00:09:16 image because this is what's included
00:09:12 00:09:17 there we go so yeah it comes with the
00:09:16 00:09:19 bag
00:09:17 00:09:20 so that's a nice bonus you know having
00:09:19 00:09:23 your supplier provide
00:09:20 00:09:27 a simple drawstring bag if
00:09:23 00:09:29 you know it works for your product great
00:09:27 00:09:33 let's see some other examples here so
00:09:29 00:09:34 these are water filter straws
00:09:33 00:09:36 one other thing you can do is
00:09:34 00:09:38 differentiate your listing by having a
00:09:36 00:09:41 different color
00:09:38 00:09:44 or having a combo of colors a pack
00:09:41 00:09:46 so this seller for example they kind of
00:09:44 00:09:46 notike that most people are selling
00:09:46 00:09:50 these blue
00:09:46 00:09:53 straws but the second color that's most
00:09:50 00:09:55 popular is this type of army green
00:09:53 00:09:56 this army print color so they notike
00:09:55 00:09:58 blue and army print color
00:09:56 00:10:00 so they thought okay well i guess that
00:09:58 00:10:02 the blue and the army print color
00:10:00 00:10:02 they're making it to the first page
00:10:02 00:10:04 because
00:10:02 00:10:06 that's what people are buying so let me
00:10:04 00:10:09 do some sort of combo
00:10:06 00:10:10 one blue one army one blue one army and
00:10:09 00:10:12 so i don't know if they're doing any
00:10:10 00:10:15 good with that but that's definitely a
00:10:12 00:10:16 an idea to entertain you do need to do
00:10:15 00:10:20 your research if you're gonna go off
00:10:16 00:10:22 and change the color of the product
00:10:20 00:10:24 because you want to make sure that it's
00:10:22 00:10:27 in demand if nobody on amazon is buying
00:10:24 00:10:29 that color it's a bit risky because
00:10:27 00:10:30 when you're doing amazon fba you want to
00:10:29 00:10:33 try and reduce your risk
00:10:30 00:10:35 by doing your product search research to
00:10:33 00:10:37 see what's already selling well
00:10:35 00:10:38 and if it's not already selling well
00:10:37 00:10:40 then that's a bit risky because you
00:10:38 00:10:41 don't have the data to support that it
00:10:40 00:10:44 is going to sell
00:10:41 00:10:46 when you go ahead and try and sell it so
00:10:44 00:10:47 in this event i think that what they saw
00:10:46 00:10:49 is that they probably did the research
00:10:47 00:10:50 and they found that this was also a very
00:10:49 00:10:52 popular color
00:10:50 00:10:53 so they decided to kind of take a gamble
00:10:52 00:10:54 and
00:10:53 00:10:57 we'll see i don't know if it's going to
00:10:54 00:10:58 pay off or not but definitely variations
00:10:57 00:11:00 in color could be good
00:10:58 00:11:03 but you do have to do the research on it
00:11:00 00:11:06 and over here we have some yoga mats
00:11:03 00:11:07 or no these are yoga towels so let's see
00:11:06 00:11:09 this one
00:11:07 00:11:11 has some sort of bottle that seems to be
00:11:09 00:11:12 included so if we click on that we can
00:11:11 00:11:15 check it out
00:11:12 00:11:16 everyone seems to be selling towels um
00:11:16 00:11:20 oh this one's including a bag so again a
00:11:19 00:11:24 bag could be a great way
00:11:20 00:11:27 um to help differentiate yourself makes
00:11:24 00:11:28 these items more portable this one
00:11:27 00:11:31 includes a
00:11:28 00:11:33 spray bottle and a bag and two pieces so
00:11:31 00:11:35 this is obviously really great value
00:11:33 00:11:37 i think they're probably a new seller um
00:11:35 00:11:39 so they're trying to really
00:11:37 00:11:40 add a lot of value this one did some
00:11:39 00:11:42 sort of tie dye so
00:11:40 00:11:43 trying different colors tie-dye is
00:11:42 00:11:46 really popular right now so it's
00:11:43 00:11:49 probably a smart move
00:11:46 00:11:52 so trying to stay on top of the trends
00:11:49 00:11:52 let's just see what these have
00:11:53 00:11:57 so i'm not sure what that spray bottle
00:11:55 00:11:57 is
00:11:59 00:12:03 they must tok about it somewhere
00:12:03 00:12:09 green one spray bottle
00:12:07 00:12:11 oh it's just a spray bottle so i mean
00:12:09 00:12:13 that's going to cost you a couple
00:12:11 00:12:15 pennies from your suppliers so
00:12:13 00:12:17 i mean it does it did um pique my
00:12:15 00:12:20 attention a little bit because it's just
00:12:17 00:12:24 it's just something extra right
00:12:20 00:12:27 and this one here it's a bag
00:12:24 00:12:29 so yeah it's included so just a few more
00:12:27 00:12:31 examples for you
00:12:29 00:12:33 so again the main idea is that when
00:12:31 00:12:35 people are browsing through all the
00:12:33 00:12:38 product options on amazon
00:12:35 00:12:39 you want them to look at your your main
00:12:38 00:12:42 image and just kind of
00:12:39 00:12:43 gravitate towards it so for example out
00:12:42 00:12:45 of these four here which
00:12:43 00:12:46 one of these images do you gravitate
00:12:45 00:12:49 towards it's this one
00:12:46 00:12:50 most likely because there's this big
00:12:49 00:12:53 random shaped
00:12:50 00:12:54 pink thing that i'm like okay well all
00:12:53 00:12:56 of these are green
00:12:54 00:12:57 and white and they all kind of look the
00:12:56 00:12:59 same but here there's this
00:12:57 00:13:01 strange pink thing like i'm just i'm
00:12:59 00:13:02 just a little bit more interested it's
00:13:01 00:13:04 peaking
00:13:02 00:13:05 my curiosity and so that's what you want
00:13:04 00:13:07 to do
00:13:05 00:13:10 and so here they've obviously included
00:13:07 00:13:13 something that is not included here
00:13:10 00:13:15 and it's just an extra item but
00:13:13 00:13:16 on the main image it's pulling me
00:13:15 00:13:17 towards that
00:13:16 00:13:20 so that's definitely something to
00:13:17 00:13:22 consider over here
00:13:20 00:13:24 same thing with the dog training collar
00:13:22 00:13:26 with remote
00:13:24 00:13:28 so we're gonna scroll through all of
00:13:26 00:13:30 these items and
00:13:28 00:13:31 you know which of these stands out to
00:13:30 00:13:32 you most
00:13:31 00:13:34 out of all of okay let's say all of the
00:13:32 00:13:35 ones on this page which ones stand out
00:13:34 00:13:37 to you most
00:13:35 00:13:39 well the one with the dog does this one
00:13:37 00:13:39 too but i would say this one more
00:13:39 00:13:41 because it's
00:13:39 00:13:44 a closer up image of the dog it's more
00:13:41 00:13:45 clear it's cute
00:13:44 00:13:47 and these ones you know they all kind of
00:13:45 00:13:49 look the same
00:13:47 00:13:51 so i mean everyone knows in marketing
00:13:49 00:13:52 that if you've got a cute dog or a cute
00:13:51 00:13:54 baby
00:13:52 00:13:55 uh it's gonna boost your marketing
00:13:54 00:13:57 efforts so
00:13:55 00:13:59 yeah that's a great idea put the dog in
00:13:57 00:14:01 the photo even though the dog's not
00:13:59 00:14:04 included it's wearing the collar so it's
00:14:01 00:14:06 demonstrating the use of the collar
00:14:04 00:14:08 and it's helping you stand out from all
00:14:06 00:14:11 of these other images here
00:14:08 00:14:12 so yeah that's that's definitely a great
00:14:11 00:14:14 thing
00:14:12 00:14:15 and then also um you want to make sure
00:14:14 00:14:16 that your images are really big the
00:14:15 00:14:18 biggest image
00:14:16 00:14:20 wins so if you look at this image
00:14:18 00:14:22 compared to this one this one's a lot
00:14:20 00:14:24 bigger so it tracks more of my attention
00:14:22 00:14:26 i can clearly read what it says here
00:14:24 00:14:28 whereas this one's a lot smaller
00:14:26 00:14:29 so you want to use the maximum image
00:14:28 00:14:31 space
00:14:29 00:14:33 so let's take a look at over here these
00:14:31 00:14:36 are resistance bands
00:14:33 00:14:39 resistance bands is a very popular item
00:14:36 00:14:40 to sell on amazon lots of competition
00:14:39 00:14:41 there
00:14:40 00:14:44 but when we're looking at all these
00:14:41 00:14:45 bands which ones stand out to you so
00:14:44 00:14:47 we're seeing all these rainbow colored
00:14:45 00:14:48 bands okay
00:14:47 00:14:50 but these ones are a bit different these
00:14:48 00:14:51 are definitely more feminine these
00:14:50 00:14:53 pastel colors
00:14:51 00:14:54 all of these kind of look the same
00:14:53 00:14:56 except for these so they've
00:14:54 00:14:58 differentiated themselves in
00:14:56 00:15:00 a number of different ways number one is
00:14:58 00:15:00 the price they're a lot cheaper than
00:15:00 00:15:03 everyone else
00:15:00 00:15:05 number two the colors they seem to go
00:15:03 00:15:07 with a different color theme here
00:15:05 00:15:08 and number three the value so they've
00:15:07 00:15:12 added a bag
00:15:08 00:15:14 a video an ebook let's click on it
