shopify add to cart update top cart as well

Published on: June 30 2023 by pipiads

Hello everyone, it's Coren from Speedycom, and today we're going to learn how to automatically add a product to the cart of your Shopify store. This system can be helpful for many people, whether you want to offer a free product or upsell a low-cost product.

Steps:

1. Copy the code from the tutorial and go to Edit Code of the theme in your Shopify store.

2. Find the Cart liquid file and paste the code at the bottom.

3. Customize the options in the code based on your preference. You can choose to automatically add the upsell product or only add it for specific products.

4. Change the targeting of the product by copying the URL portion of it. For example, if you want to add the upsell product when someone adds Product 1 to their cart, you would copy the URL portion of Product 1.

5. Test the code by adding the target product to your cart and see if the upsell product is automatically added.

6. Remember that this system only works on a cart page, not a mini cart.

7. If you want to add a specific variant of the upsell product, find the ID of the variant and replace it in the code.

By following these steps, you can automatically add a product to the cart of your Shopify store, which can help increase your sales. Don't forget to subscribe to our channel for more tutorials, and let us know what kind of tutorials you'd like to see in the future.

Shopify has released two new automations to recover abandoned cards and abandoned browse. In this article, we will take a look at these new automations and show you how to further improve them for the perfect sales recovery flow.

Abandoned Cart Automation:

- To access the automations section, go to your Shopify backend, click on marketing, and then click on automations.

- Click on create automations and look for the abandoned cart automation.

- The workflow starts with the trigger: the customer left online store.

- It checks if the abandonment type is equal to cart and waits for four hours.

- It then checks if the customer hasn't added another product to the cart, hasn't started the checkout, and hasn't completed an order since the start of the workflow.

- It checks if the customer hasn't received another abandoning email in the last 30 days and if one or more products in the cart are in stock.

- It sends the customer an email to remind them of their abandoned cart.

- We recommend changing the wait time to one hour and adding more reminder emails after 24 hours and three days.

- We also suggest removing the check for the last abandoning email in the last 30 days and adding recommendations for other products.

Abandoned Product Browse Automation:

- The trigger for this automation is the customer left online store.

- It checks if the abandonment type is equal to browse and waits for two hours.

- It then checks if the customer hasn't viewed any more products, hasn't added another product to the cart, hasn't started the checkout, and hasn't completed an order since the start of the workflow.

- It sends the customer an email to remind them of their abandoned browse.

Shopify's new abandoned cart and abandoned product browse automations are powerful tools for recovering lost sales. By customizing them to fit your specific needs and adding more reminder emails, you can improve your sales recovery flow and increase your revenue.

Shopify Upsell offer in Cart without an app - ajax cart

In this article, we will discuss how to increase the average order value per customer by implementing an in-cart upsell. By offering additional products to customers when they add an item to their cart, we can increase revenue and profits.

Steps to Implement In-Cart Upsell:

1. Use a theme that already has an AJAX cart drawer implemented, such as the Brooklyn theme.

2. Create a standalone product for the upsell offer, with a variant ID that will be used to add it to the cart.

3. Add a lean product form for the upsell product to the product template, with the necessary input parameters.

4. Use the form override function in the theme's JavaScript file to listen for form submissions and add items to the cart.

5. Modify the form override function to work with both the original product form and the upsell product form.

6. Copy the HTML markup for the upsell product from the product template to the AJAX cart template, and remove the quantity selector.

7. Use CSS to hide the select element for the upsell product form.

By following these steps, you can easily implement an in-cart upsell on your Shopify store, which can help increase revenue and profits. Remember to choose a theme with an AJAX cart drawer already implemented, and to create a standalone product for the upsell offer with a variant ID. With a little bit of JavaScript and CSS, you can start seeing higher average order values per customer in no time.
