Google Analytics (GA4) Ecommerce Tracking For Shopify
this is an extremely valuable video if you have a shopify store. in today's video, i'm going to be showing you how to track revenue from your shopify store into google analytiks 4.. previously, this was a very difficult task to do, if not impossible, and i've had a lot of people message me and ask me: how can i track revenue in google analytiks four, and today i'm going to be showing you exactly that, step by step. at the end, i will even be showing you how to set up conversion tracking in your google ads account. so take this revenue tracking in google analytiks for, connect it to your google ads account and import those conversions as well. now, before we jump in on how to do this, i do have a few important notes. shopify still does not have a direct integration with google analytiks for, as a result, today i'm going to be showing you how to track revenue using google tag manager. now, don't let that scare you. if you're new to google tag manager, i'm going to show you step by step on how to set that up, and even for people that have google tag manager currently on their website, i encourage you to watch this video all the way through, because there are some things that you might need to change in your google tag manager setup in order to track the revenue, but i am so excited to share this video because this is one that i know a lot of people have been waiting for for a long time, so let's jump in. so the first thing is to make sure you have a google tag manager account. if you don't, quickly google it and, uh, create a new account, your view may look slightly different when you're creating account, because it's a brand new container for you, but hit create new account. from there, all you need to do is name your website and then go through and name your container as well, and then, for most people, you're going to want to click this web property, i assume, because you're on a website. from there, you can hit create and then it will drop you into your google tag manager account. we're going to be in the left-hand side working in the tags area, as you can see here, we're going to be creating a new tag for google analytiks, for we're going to be deploying google analytiks for through google tag manager. so we're going to go through and do that real quick so that google analytiks is firing on all the pages of our website. so you go through and name this google ga4 config is what i typically like to name this, but you can name it whatever you would like- and then we're going to click tag configuration, and the tag configuration that we want to choose here is the ga4 configuration, as you see there. from here you're going to go and copy your stream id from google analytiks, for this is assuming that you already have a google analytiks for account. if you don't know how to get this code, go to the admin there and then go to data streams, click on that and then you will see your measurement id where you can copy that and then go over to backtik tag manager, paste that inside of there and then we want to then add a trigger and you want this to fire on all pages of your website because we want to track all the pages for google analytiks for once. that's done. you can go through and preview if you like, but for this one we're just going to go through and publish it, give it a name convention- i just named it the exact same tag that i just published, so ga4 config- i'm having a little bit of trouble there- and then hit publish. so now we have google analytiks for deployed through google tag manager. but we need to make sure that google tag manager is firing on our shopify store. so if you click that code in the top right hand corner, it'll bring up a view that looks like this: you want to copy the head and then head over to your shopify store. and then we want to go into the theme liquid or into edit code and then into the themeliquid and we're going to be pasting this code in the head of your website. so just go and find that head tag, go right below it and then copy that in there. and then there is another thing that we need to do for this setup. this is a really important spot. i will link this down below, but you want to go and copy this code right here and put this right before where you put your google tag manager code as well. so this is an important step. like i said, i'll link- i'll add a link to this google tag or to the google steps on how to do this, but copy that inside of there as well. and then we want to go back over to google tag manager and grab the body tag and do the same thing. scroll down until you find the beginning of that body tag there and then paste it right below now before you hit save. if you previously have added google analytiks for manually through the themeliquid using this code right here, then you're going to want to go through and delete that. so i encourage everybody to do a quick check of that code. i like to do a command find of just the js tag. if you find it inside of there, delete that entire code that you just saw on the page so to make sure that you're not double tracking events in google analytiks. for now that we have google tag manager installed on our shopify website, it's now go time to go through and build the event to actually track the revenue. so we're going to click on tags there and then we're going to go up and we're going to hit new tag. i'm going to name this ecom. you know ga4, ecom event, whatever you'd like to name it inside of there. we're then going to click on tag configuration and then we want this ga4 event tag from here. if you follow the instructions up to this point, you'll see something that says ga4 config or whatever you named it in this left-hand column right there and then the event name. you can go through and manually add this to say like purchase or something, but for this it's going to be better to track this as a dynamic event inside of here. so we're gonna click on this little plus button and then we want this to be an event. next we're gonna go over here to this more settings button and you're gonna want to check the send ecom data and then into the data layer. we're then going to go through and click triggers here and then we want to create a new custom trigger. so hit the plus button in the top right hand corner. from there we're going to go through and do tag configuration and we want this to be a custom event. and then from here i have a code down in the description below. you're going to want to copy this inside of here. this is going to copy all of the events that i think are the most valuable for tracking shopify purchases and it's in a regular expression. so you're going to want to go through and click that little button there on the right hand that says time, or use regex expression. from there we can go through and save this event and you need- oh, i forgot- to name this real quick. so we'll go through and name this trigger and i just like to call this ga money sign, ga4, you know, ecom event, whatever you'd like it to be, so that you know what it is inside of your google tag manager. hit save and then save one more time and then from this point you can go through and preview the changes inside of google tag manager if you'd like, but i'm just going to actually hit submit the changes so that i can see these changes actually go live inside of google analytiks, for if you just do the preview mode, you're not going to see things go live inside of google analytiks 4.. so go through and name the version here and i'm just going to name this: ga4 ecom events, publish that tag and then there we have it. there's our changes, exit out and then go back and then from here i'm going to go through and preview the changes and go through and add your ecommerce store inside of that button right there. it's going to connect google tag manager and your ecommerce store so that you can go through and troubleshoot events from here. we want to go through and send a test purchase through. so just grab whatever product it is and go through and do a test purchase. so for this one we're going to quickly go through and grab one.
How to set up Google Ads Conversion Tracking for Shopify 2022 - The Easiest Way
in today's video I'm going to show you how to set up Google ads conversion tracking for your Shopify store. so first thing that we need to do to install Google s conversion track and we need to go to tools and settings inside Google ads and click conversions. here we need to click new conversion action and choose website. then I enter my website domain and click scan. here I go to create conversion action manually using code and click at a conversion action manual. here I need to select a category. in our case it will be purchase under value. I need to use use different values for each conversion. everything else is fine and here we need to click done as any, click save and continue. Google s provides instruction how to install conversion tracking. so the first thing that we need to do is to copy this piece of code and paste it on every page of our website immediately after head element. so I copy and inside Shopify I click on line store theme and here click three dots, click edit code and, under Sim liquid Thunderhead tag, install our piece of code and click save. then I go to exit, go to settings and check out and accounts, scroll down below and there's order, status pages and additional scripts. you may have additional scripts, so I just paste the same piece of code below. then I go back to my Google ads account and now we need to install event snippets on our website that will track purchase. I can click here, see when Snippets. and this is our event snippet. but you will see the values here statik, like value, currency and transaction India. that's why what you need to do to make it Dynamic is to go to my website- I will leave the links in the description below- and copy the event Snippets code from there. then jump back into Shopify and paste it below the main Google text script, and here I need to update uh, two variables. so I go back to Google. let's close this window, click use Google tik manager and here I need to copy conversion ID and conversion label. so I copy conversion ID, paste it right here. then I copy conversion label and paste it here. then I need to click save in Google ads I. I click done so and now you can see that purchase conversion action has been added and we can start tracking our transactions values inside Google ads. and let me show you another way: how to set up Google ads conversion tracking using import transaction data from Google analytiks account. if I click new conversion action and choose import, I can use either Google analytiks Universal or Google analytiks, for I will use j4. let me choose web property, continue and here you can see I can import my purchase section. this way I also can track purchases. but pay attention that you will need to use only one method to track your conversion values, not double count to your transactions. but in my configuration it is fine because action optimization for import from ga4 is secondary it. it won't use to optimize bidding and campaign performance. so make sure that you only got one primarily conversion action for your Google ads account. if you want to make a conversion action primary or secondary, you can click on it, click edit settings and here you can select primary action or secondary action. so I hope this video was useful. make sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel not to miss new videos about e-commerce analytiks. so if you want to level up your analytiks, then check my free e-commerce data infrastructure guide or Shopify store.

How To Setup Google Ads Conversion Tracking For Shopify
Hey there, I'm Benjamin from Loves Data. If you have a Shopify store and you're running Google Ads campaigns, then it's super important to be able to see the value your ads are generating. It lets you report on performance and optimize your campaigns. So today I'm going to show you how to track conversions and conversion value in Google Ads from your Shopify store. To send revenue values to Google Ads, we're going to use Google Tag Manager and a custom data layer in Shopify. However, another option is to install the 'Google Channel' app. so if you would like to see me cover this option in a future video, please let me know in the comments below. Okay, let's start by heading to Shopify. I've already implemented Google Tag Manager on my demo store, so let's take a look at how I've done this. Let's select 'Online Store'. Now let's select 'Actions' for the theme And choose 'Edit Code'. Now I'm going to select the 'theme' 'dot' 'liquid' file. This is where the Google Tag Manager container has been added. Now let's close this And let's select 'Settings' And then 'Checkout and Accounts'. Now let's scroll down to the 'Order Status Page' section. Here we can see a custom data layer that captures details about the transaction, Along with the Google Tag Manager container code. So Google Tag Manager is already implemented on my demo store. For an in-depth walk-through of how to add Google Tag Manager to your Shopify store, I've included a link to my dedicated tutorial in the description below this video. Okay, now let's head to Google Tag Manager And let's select 'Tags'. We can see there is already a GA4, Google Analytiks 4, ecommerce tag, so let's select this. We can see this is an event tag and the tag includes a number of ecommerce parameters to send information to GA4. We can see 'items', 'transaction ID', 'value' and so on. I need to highlight that there is new way to capture ecommerce details. Instead of creating all of these separate parameters, we can now enable the option to automatikally capture all of this information from the data layer. So let's head to another Google Tag Manager container that uses this option. Let's navigate to 'Tags' again And select the GA4 ecommerce tag. We can see this tag uses the 'Send Ecommerce Data' option, so all of the available ecommerce information is automatikally sent to GA4. If you're using this option, then you might need to create a new variable in Google Tag Manager to capture the details. So let's close the tag And let's select 'Variables', Since I can't see any existing variables for ecommerce value, transaction ID or currency. we're going to create them. Let's click 'New', Let's name the variable 'Ecommerce Value' And let's select 'Variable Configuration'. Now let's choose 'Data Layer Variable' And for the 'Data Layer Variable Name' let's enter 'ecommerce' 'dot' 'value' And let's save the variable. Now let's create another variable. Let's name the variable 'Ecommerce Transaction ID'. Let's select 'Variable Configuration', Choose 'Data Layer Variable' And enter 'ecommerce' 'dot' 'transaction'? 'underscore' 'id' as the 'Data Layer Variable Name', And let's save the variable. Now let's create one more variable. Let's name the variable 'Ecommerce Currency', Let's select 'Variable Configuration', Choose 'Data Layer Variable' And enter 'ecommerce' 'dot' 'currency'? And let's save the variable. Now it's time to create our Google Ads conversion tag. so let's select 'Tags' And let's create a new tag. Let's name the tag 'Google Ads Ecommerce' And let's select 'Tag Configuration'. Now let's choose 'Google Ads Conversion Tracking'. At the top, we can see an alert telling us the conversion linker tag is missing for our container. So let's click 'Create', Let's name the tag 'Google Ads Conversion Linker'? This extra tag helps ensure that details about clicks from our Google Ads campaigns is stored in first-party cookies. Let's save the tag. Now we need to enter our 'Conversion ID' and 'Conversion Label' from Google Ads. So let's head to Google Ads. Now let's select 'Tools and Settings' And then 'Conversions' under 'Measurement'. Since there is no existing conversion action for purchases, let's create a new conversion. We need to enter the URL of our website And click 'Scan'. Now let's scroll down And select 'Add A Conversion Action Manually'. Let's select the 'Purchase' as the category. Let's leave the name as 'Purchase'. Now let's choose 'Use Different Values For Each Conversion' And I'm going to enter 'Zero' as the default value. This will mean if the conversion tag fires without a value, then we won't be reporting a value. I'm going to leave the rest of the default options selected And let's scroll down and click 'Done'. Now let's click 'Save and Continue' And let's select the 'Use Google Tag Manager' tab. We can now copy the 'Conversion ID' and 'Conversion Label' And let's head back to Google Tag Manager. Now we need to paste the 'Conversion ID' into our tag And let's paste the 'Conversion Label'. Now we're going to use the variable we created earlier Under 'Conversion Value'. let's select the variable icon And let's select 'Ecommerce Value'. Let's do the same for 'Transaction ID', But this time let's select the 'Ecommerce Transaction ID' variable And let's select the variable icon for the 'Currency Code' And select 'Ecommerce Currency'. Now let's scroll down and select 'Triggering'. If you already have a trigger for purchases, then you can select your existing trigger. Since I don't have one in my Google Tag Manager container, let's click the plus sign to create a new trigger. Let's name the trigger 'Ecommerce Purchase', Let's select 'Trigger Configuration' And choose 'Custom Event' as the trigger type. Now let's enter 'purchase' as the 'Event Name' And let's save our trigger And save our tag. We've now created a Google Ads conversion tag in Google Tag Manager that will send purchase details to Google Ads. You can now preview your container to test that the new tag works as you expect, And then, when you're ready, you can click 'Submit' to publish the tag trigger and variables to your live website. If you're already using Google Tag Manager on your Shopify store, then using the existing information in the data layer is a great way to send purchase details to Google Ads, And you can even reuse the variables we created for other third-party conversion and tracking tags. How to Set Up Google Analytics 4 in Google Ads and Shopify in 10 Mins
In this video, you're going to learn how to set up conversion tracking for Google Ads and Google Analytiks for your Shopify store. This allows you to track the actual sales amounts from your Google Ads campaigns right there in your Google Ads account. This is our favorite method for tracking conversions with Google Ads, as it shows the sales values right there in your Analytiks account and in your Google Ads account. Here's an overview of how it all works before we jump in to do it step-by-step. You're running Google Ads to drive traffic to your ecommerce store. We'll set up a Google Analytiks account and then install a tracking code on our Shopify store. This is so that all traffic, demographics of those users and the data on the sales we're making will show up in our Google Analytiks account. We'll then link our Google Analytiks account to our Google Ads account. This is so the conversion data will show up in Google Ads and on our Google Shopping campaigns. Showing up in our Google Ads account is going to show us what actually helped to get that sale or conversion. This means we'll see which campaign is getting conversions, which products, which ads and everything in between. This is important for us to know what's working and how to optimize our account further with Google Ads and Google Shopping. First, let's create our Google Analytiks account and link it into Shopify. If you don't have a Google Analytiks account, we're going to create one right now. if you do, just skip this part here and go straight to the part where we link it into Shopify. Go to analytiksgooglecom. if you're not yet logged in with your Gmail account, make sure you do that. Click "Start measuring". We're going to add in our account name. this is just going to be the name of our store. It's then going to ask us our account data sharing settings. You can just leave this as it is and click "Next". It's then going to ask us our property name. You can put this the same as your store name, Put in your actual time zone and your currency as well. It's then going to ask you about your business information. just fill this in. You're going to have to read and accept the terms and conditions. Once finished, it's then going to ask you about your email communications. So here we're going to put in what emails do we want to see from Google? I like to just check the first one. Next, we'll need to create a new Google Analytiks 4 property, So click "Admin" down the bottom and then click "GA4 setup assistant". We're then going to click "I want to create a new Google Analytiks 4 Property", "Get started". Click "Create Property". We're now going to click "See your GA4 Property". Now we need to link our Google Analytiks account to our Shopify store. You should see this page right here. if you don't, you can always access it here by clicking "Data streams". while in the admin menu, Click "Web"add in your website URL and I'm going to name it with my brand name. Make sure enhanced measurement is turned on. click "Create stream". You should now see this window. here To install the tracking code, click the "Global Site Tag" and click "Copy". Now let's go over to our Shopify dashboard and we'll install it on our website. Here we're in our Shopify dashboard. On the left-hand menu, we're going to click on "Online Store". We're going to click on "Themes". Click on "Actions""Edit code". Make sure to select "themeliquid" in the left-hand menu. Confirm that you're in themeliquid by seeing the title of the page above. Scroll down to the section that says "head". type "enter" and make sure to create some space and then paste the code you copied from Google Analytiks. Click "Save". It will say "Asset saved" down the bottom to confirm. Now we need to confirm that it's been installed correctly. To do this, go back to our Shopify store front end and click through a few different pages. This will trigger the Analytiks code and send information to Google Analytiks for us to confirm that it's been installed properly. Keep this window open and click back to Google Analytiks on a different tab. Exit out of the stream details. On the left-hand menu go to reports- real-time. This page shows you who's on your website right now in real-time. If you're not seeing anything here yet, that's okay. It just takes a few minutes to start working. I'll wait about three to five minutes here and then go back to my storeclick around a little bit to make sure I'm sending data and then I'll check again. Okay, you can now see that it's sending information. It has all the data. I checked when I was clicking around. What do you do if you're not seeing the data come through? 1. Try refreshing the Google Analytiks page here. that can sometimes work. 2. Open up your store in an incognito private window or even on your mobile device. Then click around a few pages and check back in Google Analytiks in a few minutes to see if that helped. If it's still not working, we need to double-check that we've installed our tag correctly. Here's how to do that: Go to your website. right-click and go to "View page source". You'll see the code for your site. Go where the head tag is and see if you can find the Google Analytiks name there. You can also press Ctrl + F or Cmd + F to show the search bar and search for Analytiks. See that on this store. we can see it right here. If you can't see it on your site, go back to Shopify and check a few things. Make sure that you clicked "Save" on the window. Also, make sure that you're in themeliquid when making these changes. Then, if it's still not working, try clearing the cache for your browser and store. Once you get that working, you'll start seeing the data for all the people visiting your store showing up in Google Analytiks. Keep in mind that, apart from the real-time window, it takes 24 to 48 hours for data to show in these other tabs. We now need to make sure that conversion data, like sales revenue, shows up in our Analytiks account when people purchase In your Shopify dashboard, navigate to settings checkout and scroll down to the additional scripts section underneath order processing. This is where we're going to add another Analytiks code that will send the conversion values over to Google Analytiks. Go down below this video and find the full code. It should look like this: We will need to edit something in this code, but for now, copy this and paste in the box of additional scripts here. Let me show you what this code does really quickly and then show you what you need to change. You'll see here that it has things like transaction ID value, currency, tax, shipping items, etc. Next to this, you'll see these bits of code here. These are variables here. when someone buys from your store and checks out through Shopify, Shopify fires this code and fills all that info with the actual unique info for the customer and their order. Basically, it sends the sales value and everything over to Google Analytiks so you can track the conversion value for our store in the Google Analytiks dashboard. Pretty cool, huh 😎. So what do we have to change? Just find a variable that says 'KEYCOMMERCE' and change this to your Google Analytiks Measurement ID. We do this by going over to Google Analytiks and copying our Measurement ID and then returning and deleting 'KEYCOMMERCE' and pasting it in There. that's how we do it. we can now save👍. Next, we just have to quickly exclude Shopify as a referral in GA4. Basically what this means is that, because of the way the Shopify checkout works, if we don't add Shopify as an excluded referral, then the Shopify checkout pages will show up in our reports, which is not something we want To do. this go back to admin. in Google Analytiks, Click on our "Data Stream'" here. scroll down to "More tagging settin.
Shopify Google Ads Conversion Tracking For Transactions With Google Analytics
all right, what's up everyone. welcome to the Surfside PPC YouTube channel. today I'm gonna be going over how to import your Shopify conversions into Google Ads, so how you can import really your Shopify transaction data right into Google Ads so that you can optimize for it in your campaigns. so it's an important step you want to take really before you ever get started running any of your campaigns. so when you go into your Google Ads account, one of the things you want to do is come up to tools here in the top corner and under measurement, you want to click conversions and you're gonna see a screen that just looks just like this, and this is where you can import all of your conversions that you're gonna be optimizing for. so the way I like to do it is if we come over to Google Analytiks first, so we come to our Google Analytiks screen and where I want to start is the main admin screen. so you want to take, go into property settings here and you want to take the UA code that Google Analytiks will give you. so it should look like a string of numbers- UA - and then 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 - 1, so something like that, and what you want to do is, under property settings, you want to take your you a code and you want to come over to Shopify and you want to copy and paste it. so you come into online store here, you go to preferences and you're want to enter your Google Analytiks account code right here. so here's one UA - 6, 6 and a string of more numbers and you can find that by going to Google Analytiks and going right to your property settings. so when you click on property settings you're gonna see it right there. you just want to copy that and paste it directly into Google Analytiks. and then you also want to use enhanced e-commerce and you get to this page in Shopify by going to online store down the left hand side. so when you sign into your Shopify website you're in your admin screen and you can really just take your URL here: dot my Shopify com. slash admin, slash online, underscore store, slash preferences. so we go in the online store and then preferences and then Google Analytiks. you want to enter that code and enhanced e-commerce. so that's all you need to do first to get started that. so that's gonna put Google Analytiks on your Shopify website. now the next thing you need to do is come over here to e-commerce settings and you want to make sure you enable e-commerce and enable enhanced e-commerce reporting and click on save. so when you come in here, if this says off, just make sure you select on and on, and you can do this underneath the view portion of your Google Analytiks account in the admin screen. so we're right in admin right now. so you come over here to e-commerce settings and you click on on and click on save. okay, just a quick disclaimer. so all these videos are being done on behalf of a client- zero compression back brace com. so there's certain information I'm not going to show to you in terms of sales to conversions, and if you go to e-commerce and overview, you can actually track all of your Shopify conversions directly into Google Analytiks. so your transactions, your average order value, your revenue, your conversion rate- so all of that will be tracked right into Google Analytiks, and one of the main things you're going to see here is transactions. so what we're gonna do now is come back over to Google Ads. so we're gonna come into Google Ads here and the next thing you want to do is make sure your Google Ads and Google Analytiks accounts are linked. so you're gonna come here to tools and you're gonna linked accounts. so when you click on linked accounts, you're gonna see a page that looks like this, and here you can just click on Google Analytiks and click on details and make sure that your accounts are linked. now the other way to do this as well is if you go into Google Analytiks and you come back into your admin screen here. so what you can do in Google Analytiks is just go here and do Google Ads linking and just make sure that your account is linked right here. so you can do it one way or the other and it's gonna allow your Google Analytiks and Google Ads accounts to basically communicate and send data back and forth to each other. so now that you have your accounts linked, you have Google Analytiks set up on your Shopify website. what you can do now is import transactions directly into Google Ads. so we're gonna come over here to conversion actions. so you're gonna go to tools and conversions in your Google Ads account. so that's gonna allow you to get to this page. so what you can do now is click on the plus sign. we can come over here to import, so it's gonna say: import conversions from another system, including Google Analytiks. so you obviously need Google Analytiks on your Shopify website so that you can record data on your website. and then you obviously need your accounts linked. so we click right here and click on continue. so what its gonna show now is the transaction data right here. so this is our transaction conversion, so we can click on it and we can click on import and continue. so now we've imported one transaction from Google Analytiks, so we can click on done. now come over to conversion actions, and what we can do is click on convert Ran's actions right here and it's going to have some details so we can click on edit settings and what we can say is conversion name. transaction category is going to be purchase, sale, so we click on save value- it's gonna be the value and currency from analytiks and use the same currency as in analytiks, so we'll click on save. source is going to be analytiks. so since we have our accounts linked, so everything else looks good. all website data transaction- we're gonna count every single conversion. our conversion window will be 30 days. we want to include it in conversions and then under attribution model. so I recently did a video about attribution models. you really want to use data driven. if you just really want to count last click conversions so it gives all the credit to the last click ad, you can do that. you can do linear, so that's gonna distribute clicks equally, so people make multiple clicks before they actually convert on your website, and you can use linear or you can use time decay so that gives more credit the clicks that happen closer in time to the conversion. so just a few different options when it comes to attribution models and you can look at your attribution modeling reports if you want more information about this. we also have a video on our channel that will be very helpful about attribution models and reports. so you click on save now and we can click on done so. now we have our transaction imported into Google Ads. we're using the value and currency from analytiks for this transaction and the last thing we want to do is we want to open up our campaign. ok, so we've opened up our search campaign here. so you can see, How to Set Up Google Ads Conversion Tracking [Updated for GA4]
if you're currently running a google ads campaign, i can almost guarantee that you've been receiving emails and notifications in your google ads dashboard that google analytiks 4 is coming and that the universal version of google analytiks will no longer be collecting data from the first of july 2023, and the messages and the notifications from google are all about the importance of you switching over to google analytiks for and for you to switch over as soon as possible, and this is something that i totally agree with. and it is my very strong advice that by june 30 of this year, in 2022, that you should have all of your analytiks reporting and your conversion tracking set up in your google analytiks for profile. and the reason for why i'm giving that june 30 this year as such a strong date to make sure that you have your google analytiks for property set up and also tracking your conversions from google ads is so that you always have year year-on-year data because, as we know, google is turning off universal analytiks on the first of july 2023. so by making sure that we have your google analytiks 4 property all set up and ready to go by june 30 of this year, in 2022, it'll make sure that you always have a very accurate year-on-year gauge of not only your analytiks data but also your conversions data, regardless of whether you're looking at the universal analytiks profile or the ga4 profile, because you'll be able to export that data nice and easily out to other platforms like google's data studio, and because that june 30 date in 2022 is coming up very, very soon. so in this video, i'm going to focus on how you can set up your tracking in google analytiks 4, including your conversion tracking, and this is going to be done using google tag manager. so in this video, i want to make it very, very clear that i'm not going to be going through the differences in universal google analytiks and also google analytiks 4, and the reason for that is because google has made it clear that they are going to be adding in some extra features and some extra reporting options into google analytiks 4.. and when they have all been released, that is when i'll actually do a full video explaining the differences between these two platforms. however, having said that, i do just want to point out one major top level difference between the two platforms. when the universal version of google analytiks was released, it was very much said about you being able to collect the website data and the conversion data from a user interacting on your one and only website. however, since universal analytiks has been released, website behaviours have changed and a lot of businesses now will also have not only a website but also different mobile applications, and this is the core difference between google analytiks. four is it allows you to seemingly merge that data from your website and your mobile applications into one central place, being the google analytiks reporting dashboard. so, with all that said, let's get into today's teaching. and just in case we haven't met yet, my name is aaron young and i'm your 15 000 hour google ads master, and i've been creating and optimizing profitable google ads campaigns all the way back since 2010, and right here is where i share all the latest strategies which are working in google ads right now. so if you would like to keep up to date with those strategies and know exactly what is working in google ads so that you can use it to grow your own business or the businesses for your clients, why don't you give me a quick subscribe right now? thank you so much. let's get into that teaching and two quick final notes. in this step-by-step tutorial, i will be jumping between some different tabs, being my google tag manager and also my google analytiks 4 profile. but don't worry if you do miss some of the steps, because if you stik around to the end of this video, i'll actually share a link with you where you can actually download my conversion setup guide using google analytiks for. and the second point that i want to make clear is that in this tutorial, i'll be actually setting up conversion actions in google analytiks 4 using triggers which have already been set up in my google tag manager profile. so if you haven't done this yet and you don't know how to complete these steps, what i will do is at the end of this video, i'll share a link with you so that you can go through and watch some further teaching which takes you through the step-by-step process in how to use google tag manager and also set up those conversion triggers so that you can let google know which exact actions you want recorded as conversions on your website. so, without any further ado, let's jump straight into that screen teaching. okay, so we want to get started in our google analytiks 4 profile, but also what we do want to make sure is that in another tab, you also have your google tag manager profile open and ready to go now. there's three core steps of this process, and the first thing we need to do is that we need to actually make sure that our google analytiks 4 is actually tracking and working on our website and then from there, we want to go through and set up the tags in google tag manager and then also set up those triggers and make sure they are working. and, as i said in this example, because we've already got some existing triggers and tags set up in google tag manager, we'll be using these existing triggers, which we know are already working, and just assigning them over to our google analytiks four profile. so the first thing that we do need to do is that we need to set up a separate tag in google tag manager so that we've got google analytiks for tracking on our website, and the way that we do that is that we need to actually copy over our measurement id. now, if you haven't actually activated this and google analytiks 4 isn't actually recording any data on your website, you will see a bar pop up here, or the other option is you can go into the admin section, click on data streams, then click on the stream that you want, which is this one for us- and then from there, we want to copy this measurement id in here, and then from there, we want to go over to our google tag manager, go into tags. now, i've already got my google analytiks 4 tags set up in google tag manager, but if you don't, you just click on new and then we can call it ga4, and then from there, you need to choose the tag configuration, and in this one, you want to make sure that you actually select this option, which is the google analytiks ga4 configuration, and then this is where we paste in our measurement id, and then from there, when we go into triggering, we just select all pages and then press save, and then from there, you can actually see that our ga4 configuration is working in here. and now that we've got our google analytiks for tag working in our google tag manager, the next thing that we want to do is actually to set up a new tag so that we can set it up as a triggering action in our google analytiks four profile, and to do this, what we then need to do is we need to select new tag, and this is where you can call it a name that you want to call it now, in this instance, the conversion action that we're going to be recording is for when people actually fill out this form on the contact page of our website, and because that's what we're actually tracking, i'm just going to make this very simple and call this form submission, and i am just going to add a little note here saying ga4. and that's just because i do still have some universal analytiks conversions in this tag manager, so i'm just putting it there so that i know the difference between universal analytiks and also ga4. and then when we go into our tag configuration, we're not selecting this ga4 configuration this time we're actually selecting google analytiks ga4 event and then from there you go to this configuration tag drop down box and ours is called ga4, select that tracking code that we just set up, and then we want to actually go through and add the.
