Understanding Sales Channels In Shopify

hey guys, i just wanted to go over something really quick with you guys. um, i know i'm a little late on this, so i'm trying to get a whole bunch of stuff uploaded, so you guys have it in the morning. over the last week, um, facebook announced that they were doing facebook shops. um, this is absolutely amazing news. um, if you've ever gone on instagram and you scroll through instagram and you see something really cool that you liked and you can tap on it and automatikally it says: okay, buy this like right here. that's initially what facebook is rolling out. um. why is this important? because the only the only way you're going to really be able to do it is if you have um initially. this is probably going to change down the road, but from what i'm reading and what i'm told, the only way that you guys are, the easiest way for you guys to get approved to do this- just to have an actual store through shopify, bigcommerce, um or any of the other um. well, i think those are really the only two. i think there's like one or two more, but i can't remember the name of them. anyways, if you go into your store to the very bottom here, where it says settings, you're going to click on that and it's going to. what it's going to do is going to pop up all of your stuff and in here you're going to see down here in the middle, at the very, very bottom, where it's going to still say sales channels. once you click on sales channels, it's going to open up, um the screen that i was just on that basically says sales channels or ad sales channels, pretty much. so it's going to say, right here it's going to say add sales channels. now what this is going to do is this is going to pop up. you already have pos um instagram, amazon, ebay, um facebook, pinterest, um, these are all the things that you can literally sell on if you decide down the road. um, you know, if you want to sell your products on ebay, you can sell your product on ebay, and what this does initially is take all of your products on your shopify page and it pushes you, pushes all those products into the platform that you're looking at, so you don't have to go back to all of these other platforms and be like, okay, i've got to add all these individually. you'll have to do that. so what you're going to want to do is you're going to go down here to facebook, um, and you're going to bring your products to facebook or instagram. now, this is not a setup site, um, so i'm not going to push it completely through now. let me explain a couple of the things that you need to know about doing this. if you already tried with instagram and it failed, it's because you did not have a stance store it before instagram, uh, mainly um, and now i'm pretty sure facebook is gonna go with this. in order for you to actually be able to be approved to sell on there, you actually need, you need your store set up. does it mean that you have to have your product? so, i mean, does it mean that you have to have sales? it just means that you actually have to have a store, have your own domain and be set up, or they will not approve you. they're basically just like: who is this? so down here, what is basically what it's going to do is say, you know, connect to connect and you're going through that and what this will do is pull up all your facebook stuff and then it'll ask you what page you want to be on: um and things like that: um and facebook page in your bed, your manager, your business manager. there's some more many videos throughout the week, um, that i'm going to be putting together. i know i'm behind and i completely sincerely apologize. it's just been. some stuff happened this week that i was not expecting to happen so fast and it's great news, but it literally just sucked me in. so, um, so anyway. so there's other stuff that will be added to this um, but i wanted you guys to just know, um that this is where you go, you're gonna want to connect all of this um, as soon as you get your store up and pretty much just start connecting all this stuff, because that stuff is going, once you go into, like, your product page under each of your products, is going to ask, like, right here, when you go through all of your stuff- and, by the way, you had a shopify has a mobile app where you can add your products on your mobile app. so most of us take our pictures of our products with our phone, um, so you can lay in bed at night and do all of this. i think miranda was like: oh my god, this is so much easier, um, you don't have to be glued to your desktop to do all of this now. um, so anyways, like right here, you'll see where will it. it'll give you an option. once this is all, once you're approved, it'll say: you know, do you want to sell on your online store? do you want to sell on your facebook? so you want to make sure that all of your options are here if you're selling them there. um [Music] to make sure as soon as you guys get your domains up and running, you get everything going, that you get those approved, because the faster that you get approved, especially on facebook, it's going to put you ahead of the line of thousands of other people that don't have these kind of shops. um, so it'll just get you guys approved faster. basically says that you know what you're doing, or that you are at least um using using a web, um platform, um and builder that has integrity, because it has the type, the biggest and the most integrity than any other any other ecommerce platform in the world. um, so i hope that helps. i'll tok to you guys soon. bye.

Sales Channels on Shopify | Sales Channel Setup | Sales Channels in Shopify Tutorial | Sales Channel

all right, great. so next let's tok about sales channels within Shopify. let's click on the one sales channel that we already have here, which says online store, and we'll tok about the little I in a second. so in case you don't know what a sales channel is in Shopify, let me explain it. a sales channel is basically an Avenue that is linked to your Shopify web store that you sell on. for example, in the previous lecture, we toked about the Facebook Channel. if you have a Facebook page and are interested in bringing your Shopify products to your Facebook and Instagram customers or followers, you can do so by connecting your Shopify Web Store to your Facebook page with the Shopify channel app. so basically, every time you add a new sales Channel, you're basically adding a new Avenue in which you attain sales for your business, right? because you're not only limited to selling on Shopify, of course. you can also sell on Instagram, on Facebook, on eBay, on Etsy, on any other platform that deals with e-commerce and online selling. so the online store sales Channel deals with our Shopify store proper. so when we refer to online store within the sales Channel and Shopify, we mean our actual Shopify web store. so, as you can see here, this is why we were taken to themes and then other sub tabs underneath the online store. because, again, our online store is our Shopify web store and when we go to the sales Channel and click on online store tab under sales Channel, we will be taken to customization options for our Shopify Web Store. this includes the theme which we toked about early in the course, or, of course, you know, the pages which we toked about also early in the course, or the navigation, aka the menu, which we also toked about earlier in the course, or the domains, which, again, we toked about earlier in the course. so, again, just be aware that your online store is your Shopify web store. so that is what that sales channel is. 4. now, before we proceed to tok about this online store sales Channel, which, of course, is our main sales Channel, this means that we currently, since we it's the only one that's appearing on your sales Channel- this means that this is the only one that we have presently, at the moment. can we add other sales channels as well? certainly, we would click this little gray circle with the plus sign and then a pop-up will appear here of other sales channels that we can connect to our Shopify web store. so this means that these platforms listed here are other e-commerce slash selling platforms that are online and also some Offline that we can connect to our Shopify store to be able to sell on as well. so, for example, we can add eBay. right, let's say, I have an eBay store set up, right, I have an ebay account and then I have already my products on eBay. if I wanted to add that eBay channel to my Shopify Web Store, I most certainly could, and so therefore, I would have both of those connected. and you may be wondering, well, what's the purpose of this, or why is it necessary? the reason why this is necessary is because, instead of having to manually transfer or list every single one of your products one by one on, let's say, eBay, in this example, Shopify, through connecting your Shopify platform with the eBay sales channel, will transfer all of your Shopify products and listings to your eBay account and Shop automatikally in one by hooking up your eBay store to your Shopify store and vice versa. so that is why it is recommended to connect to these sales channels together, because every time you have existing products or new products that you create in the future, you can automatikally upload those to eBay in one click and, in case you're wondering how to do that, that's something that you will be guided once you actually install this app or whatever other app for any other. you know online platform Channel, such as eBay, Etsy and so forth, so that is why it would be good to do that if you are selling on eBay or other stores as well, such as, you know, Facebook Marketplace or shop and so forth, right. so, again, just be aware that these are what sales channels are for now. we are, of course, not limited to only selling online or adding online sales channels. we can add point of sale here, which is offered by Shopify, and we can unify online and in-person sales. so if I have a physical location, if I'm a business with a physical store, I can add those in-store sales using point of sale. this is also useful if you're, you know, shipping locally to custom customers or allowing your customers to pick up their items that they bought online on your Shopify store. again, you can also, of course, hook up your Google channel if you're someone that has a Google account and wants to sell on Google, on, you know, shopgooglecom, because I'm sure, as many of you may know, Google also has its own Marketplace, its own shop button. if you want your products on your Shopify store to appear on Google and be listed there, you can definitely add the Google channel and Pinterest as well. if you have a Pinterest account and are active on Pinterest, you can add a Pinterest channel to automatikally connect your Shopify Web Store to Pinterest, and that way you don't have to manually transfer or add your product information one by one. the sales channel will do that for you automatikally. so these are some example sales channels- and in case you are wondering about a sales channel that isn't present here and wonder if there's any more other ones, you can definitely do so by clicking the Shopify app store and searching for the name of the company, and then sales Channel or just Channel afterwards to see if it exists, right, and then, if it does, you can install it and, of course, use it like normal, and then if it doesn't, then unfortunately, what you're gonna have to do is, you know, transfer or add your products one by one. now, if we click here where it says manage sales Channel, we can obviously, you know, remove or add sales channels if we no longer want them, or, of course, add one as well, because this sometimes happens. let's say, I'm no longer selling on Facebook and I want to remove the Facebook sales Channel. I can definitely do so by clicking here. so just be aware of this part of the tab. so let's go back and then let's click online store again. okay, so now, since we toked about adding sales Channel, let's tok about this little eye icon. this little eye icon is just a icon that allows us to view our Shopify web store or the sales channel that we are on. so since I clicked online stores, I icon. that's why we're taking to our Shopify um Webster. that's just what that is. but now let's tok about everything underneath that, the sub tabs. we may have seen this before, right in a previous lecture, so this may look familiar to you. but again, when we tok about online store, we're toking about our Shopify web store. so everything underneath here is our theme options, our customization options and so much more. we can obviously change our theme Here: previewer theme, download our theme, edit the code, customize our theme, which we now know where it takes us. it takes us to the Shopify theme editor in which we can change, you know, the header and the footer, all of that which we definitely toked about earlier in this course. again. we can click the eye icon up here as well to view our store. something again to bring up is that our online store is password protected. only visitors with a password can access your online store, or this is actually important to tok about. whenever you create your Shopify store for the first time, it won't be live automatikally until you actually disable the password. so every store will be password protected, because Shopify doesn't want your store to be seen under construction to everyone. they want your store to be live when it's actually ready to go. so if we click disable password, which is under the preferences sub tab in the sales Channel online store tab, we can definitely click disable password in order for the Shopify store to go live. however, of course, we need to remember that in order to actually make our Sho.

business, you're actually leaving a lot of money on the table. instead, the key is to diversify. to grow your audience and boost your sales, you'll need to invest time and energy to build out sales channels that complement your online store. the good news is that most of these channels are super simple to manage and can help you drive traffic to your products without much additional effort. that said, not all sales channels are created equal, especially when it comes to your unique business. in this video, we'll be toking about what a sales channel is and why it's important to have more than one set up to grow your online sales. then we'll look at 11 sales channel options that could be a great match for your business. i'm also going to be sharing some of the pros and cons of each channel to make sure that you're choosing options that are the right fit for you. by the end of this video, you're going to understand how to diversify the way you sell online so that you can grow your business in a profitable and sustainable way. let's get into it. having several sales channels in your business is what's known in the industry as a multi-channel sales strategy, which is really just a fancy way of saying that you don't have all your eggs in one basket. so, instead of selling only through a brick and mortar shop or only through an e-commerce store, your products are being sold in other places as well, and there are several types of these online marketplaces where you can sell your products to people who otherwise might not find you. using a multi-channel strategy has a lot of advantages. first of all, these platforms are usually really easy to set up, because their goal is to streamline the entire shopping experience for both buyers and sellers, so you won't need any fancy skills or tiknical know-how to get started on most of these sites. not only that, but sales channels usually come with an existing customer base, which is awesome because it lets you connect to people who would not otherwise have found you, and you'll always get access to the channel's built-in marketing tools and search, which you can leverage to increase your reach based on your keywords and your positioning. lastly, by selling on different platforms, you're also giving your existing customers multiple ways to interact with your company, which can reinforce their brand loyalty to you and sometimes even create more convenience for your buyers. for example, if someone is used to placing orders on amazon every few weeks, it might actually be a lot easier for them to purchase your product through that site rather than needing to make a whole, separate purchase on your online store. of course, there are always going to be trade-offs, because individual sales channels are going to have their own rules and their own guidelines for how you can market your products, which can really limit your creativity and possibly your success on the platform. in certain marketplaces, you could face restrictions, like with the number of product photos or what you can put in your listing descriptions, things that you wouldn't encounter on your own online store. when you sell on an external platform, it's also going to be more difficult to create a branded experience for your customers, because your store's logo and fonts and colors are all replaced by those of the marketplace you're using, which can actually make it harder to stand out and be notiked. and it goes without saying that almost all sales channels are going to charge fees, whether that's to list your product initially or as a commission, for every successful sale you make. in most cases, this is just the price you pay for access to the site's customers because they know and trust the platform and its products. but even with these restrictions and downsides, featuring your products on these kinds of websites is a really good additional strategy for most online businesses. notike that i said additional. that's because i think all product-based businesses should at least start with their own online store in order to maintain total creative control over your brand, your policies and your marketing. with this approach, you're going to get the best of both worlds, because you'll have your own branded store plus access to a broader audience through carefully selected sales channels. so, while i never recommend relying exclusively on external online marketplaces, they can be a really great addition to your overall e-commerce strategy. now, with that in mind, let's tok a bit about how to choose an online sales channel based on your unique business model. while i can't tell you exactly which one will be right for you, i can tell you what you should be thinking about as you make your decision, and if you haven't already written up a business plan for your store, now is a great time to do so. to choose a sales channel, you're gonna need to have a solid understanding of your audience and your systems and your goals. so if you don't have a business plan yet, be sure to watch our video about writing one using the link below. choosing the right sales channel goes beyond the pros and cons of every platform in and of itself. it's much more important to make sure that the channel you choose is aligned with your business as a whole. so here are some factors to consider: business model. make sure that your sales channel is compatible with your business model and your manufacturing. for example, if your business relies primarily on drop shipping, you need to make sure that your chosen sales channel can connect to the system you're using to drop ship your products. the same is true if you manufacture products yourself. new sales channels can bring increased demand and require a lot more inventory management. so you need to think carefully about whether the option you choose is a good fit for your manufacturing process and your delivery systems. do some research into how you'll get paid out by your chosen sales channel. are you going to need to set up a new payment processing service, or can you just be paid into your existing bank account? also think about how sales work on this platform. on ebay, for example, sellers can't set a fixed price and won't be paid until the auction closes, whereas on other platforms, you're going to need to pay a commission fee for every sale. so in both cases, it's important to consider your profit margins and your cash flow to make sure that your business can handle this kind of payment structure. based on what you already know about your ideal customer. what sales channel do you think they might already use and love? for example, if you sell beautiful custom jewelry, your products are probably a perfect fit for a platform like etsy, which is full of people looking for unique and handmade items. and since you'll want to leverage the audience of your chosen sales channel, it's really important to make sure that the platform's customers are a good fit for the products you're selling, and the same is actually true for your existing customers. can you partner with a site that creates more ease and convenience for the people who already buy from you? if so, that channel could be a great addition, such as in the amazon example that i gave earlier. not every sales channel is a good fit for every brand. for example, if you sell luxury products, you may not want to use a marketplace that specializes in used or discount items, and similarly, if you sell quirky or unique gifts. you probably want to avoid sales channels that rely on mass-produced products. make sure that the platform you choose is a match for the products you sell, both in terms of merchandise and positioning. okay, so, now that we've In this video, like I said, we're gonna cover my top five favorite Shopify apps, And these are either gonna help you optimize your store or it's gonna help you just increase your conversion rates, 'cause that's what it's all about. When we're toking about websites, we're toking about conversion rate. That's like the holy grail of metrics. when you're toking about just building out your store, There's a very big difference between a website that actually looks good and a website that's actually built to convert visitors into customers. I know it sounds creepy and it sounds weird, but if you think about it, your website is your digital real estate. it is your property. It's kind of like installing cameras on your building, on your rental home or your property, whatever the case may be. It's just you're doing it digitally. So Lucky Orange is the cameras, it's your security camera. And here's a look at the app in the Shopify app store right here. The great thing about the Lucky Orange app is that you can record your visitors' user sessions so you can record, basically get like a screen recording of all their behaviors, see exactly what pages they visited. you can see what buttons they clicked on. they have this cool thing: it'll create heat maps so you can actually see where did they click on their mobile device, for example, What directions their mouse was going in, So it's a very versatile app. this is a perfect app for those who are getting visitors into your store but you're not able to get actual customers. maybe you're getting a lot of abandoned carts and you don't know why. This is a perfect app 'cause you can basically, after a whole day of just driving traffic- especially when you're first starting your advertising for any new product or anything like that in the testing phase- while your ads are warming up. I advise all my students to go ahead and use the Lucky Orange app and you'll basically be able to just sit there and watch video after video of every customer that came into your store And you'll find a trend: The people who spend the longest amount of time on your store- or maybe over 30 seconds- they end up adding to cart. The people who end up spending more than a minute and a half- are the ones that actually purchase, and you'll find this trend of seeing which pages people actually bounced off of, meaning which pages people visited, and they end up having a high bounce rate and exiting out of your website and going back to social media, There might be something on that part of your website where you can actually optimize it and get people to stay a little bit longer, because if you could get them to stay above that threshold now it's gonna lead to add to cart and people making more deeper in the funnel type of actions on your website. So highly recommend this app. it is free. you get the first 500 page views for free. After that it's about like $10 a month. but I wouldn't recommend keeping it on your store. it's kind of just using it through the optimization stage and through the beginning parts of you testing out your website, you trying to optimize, see what things you wanna optimize. It'll allow you to see exactly what your customers are seeing and it's so, so helpful because you can test things out and you can go and build out the most beautiful website. but if it's not getting people to continue down into the add to cart phase, into the initiate checkout phase, then it really doesn't matter, right? So this is really gonna help you kind of visualize everything and just make sense of it, all of what your customers' journey actually looks like. Definitely check that out. Lucky Orange App number four is Feraai. This app is very versatile. it's a beasty app because it has so many things inside of it. Basically, this one app will have about, I think, 20 plus different widgets that you can add to your store. Now keep in mind I don't recommend adding tons of apps onto your store, because all that's gonna do is slow down your website, because the way that the apps actually install into your store is it adds some sort of code and layers of code into your website theme, and the more code that you put on your theme, the more it slows it down as far as load time and web speed and things like that. So if you use this app, don't just go and add all types of crazy widgets. Let me go over some of the widgets that you can use. So if I go and add this new widget right here, what we could see is it'll give us a list of things. so we have widgets to increase our average order value. So there's a free shipping bar, buy one, get one free pop up, upsell in the cart. so a bunch of things here and it can kind of be overwhelming. but I recommend only doing about two to three widgets max on your website because you don't wanna overload your theme with so much code. Okay, right here, increasing urgency, you could do a timer in cart slash checkout- This is one that I really like- and a get it by timer- Basically let the customers know when they can expect their orders. that's gonna be one of the biggest objections. so if you can overcome that and just put it on the product page, you'll see more add to carts and more conversions there. This app, like I said, it's beasty and it's a little bit too much. you can have a lot of fun, but I'm telling you, if you decide to use this, I recommend to just limit yourself to two to three widgets max. you don't wanna do too much. You have a bunch of things here to increase social proof, for example, increasing trust, decreasing cart abandonment, Okay. so the two widgets that I use out of this app is actually the get it by timer and I use the logo showcase banner. This is a basically as seen on CBS. it says, like as seen on Fox, CNN, that kind of social proof bar that you could put on the bottom of your site. You can add that there. You could do a get it by timer as well. basically, like I said, letting people know when they can expect their orders And it'll actually give you stats and you can see the stats here: 7,000 people seen this actual widget in the past month, so it's active, it's doing its thing and it'll actually let you know, okay, how much revenue it's actually responsible for. So they do a good job making sure that it's showing you the ROI that you're getting off of the app. So definitely check out Feraai. it's like 20 plus different apps in one And the hard part is not using all the apps. App number three we're gonna keep counting down here. app number three is a very simple one, but so, so effective. This app right here is called the Stiky Add to Cart. just type it in here: Stiky Add to Cart.
