From Amazon FBA To Shopify: How He Started And Why He Did It

Hey everyone, this is Stefan from projectlifemastery.com and I'm here with Andres who has been successful with publishing books on Amazon Kindle, paperback, and audiobooks. He made a transition a few years ago into selling on Amazon FBA and Shopify. In this article, we'll discuss his experience with physical products and provide tips and valuable insights for your Amazon business.

Andres talks about his transition from publishing to selling physical products and his reasons for doing so. He had the cash flow from the publishing business and had started creating different brands within his publishing side, which made it easy to transition. He also had a list that he was growing from the publishing side within those brands, which he could use to market his physical products.

Bullet Points:

- The transition from KDP to seller central is easy, but there are differences to consider.

- The Amazon FBA business is more intense than publishing, and you need to get a course or expertise to succeed.

- The real skill of an entrepreneur is in your ability to think outside the box and create unique value for your brand.

- Andres had two primary niches, his wife's business in essential oils, and his own brand around dogs.

- Copying is a significant problem in the Amazon FBA business, and it's better to fly under the radar than be at the top.

Andres decided to leave Amazon and move his brand to Shopify and a private fulfillment center. Although he gave up his Amazon cash flow, he was ready for the next level of building a brand. Amazon is a great place to start, but long-term, there are many headaches to deal with. To succeed, you need to be unique and creative in your approach, and always be ready to adapt to new challenges.

Why I do Amazon Merch instead of Shopify

When it comes to selling your designs and products, there are various options available in the market. You can either choose to go with print on demand websites like Amazon Merch, Red Bubble, and T Public or create your own website. While both have their pros and cons, it ultimately comes down to personal preference and what you enjoy doing.

Why Choose Print on Demand Websites?

- You don't have to deal with customer service, shipping issues, and other tasks that come with running your own website.

- You can focus on what you enjoy doing, which is designing and researching.

- You can learn and grow by doing, without investing any money upfront.

- You can understand what people want and what sells, which can help you in the long run.

Why Choose Your Own Website?

- You have more control over your designs and products.

- You can create your own customer list and potentially make more money.

- You can run your own ads and control the algorithm.

- You can delegate tasks and outsource them as your business grows.

At the end of the day, it all depends on your personal preference and what you enjoy doing. If you like designing and researching, and don't want to deal with the other aspects of running a business, then print on demand websites like Amazon Merch can be a great option. However, if you want more control over your designs and products and are willing to put in the effort to run your own website, then that can be a great option too. Whatever you choose, remember to enjoy what you're doing and keep learning and growing along the way.

Shopify Order Fulfillment Tips (Automated, Manually, Outsourced)

In this video, Salvador Bregman discusses the options available for fulfilling orders on Shopify, whether you are a store owner or looking to create one. He discusses the fulfillment process and how to make customers happy.

- Best for making orders on demand or small volume sizes

2. Print on Demand or Drop Shipping:

- Less headache but lower margins

3. Using a Fulfillment Company:

- All inventory shipped to them

- They manage inventory with barcodes and internal software

- Handle returns, packaging, labels, etc.

- Fulfillment company can handle all the legwork

Other Components of Fulfillment:

- Getting products into the country

- Shipping, duties, customs, etc.

Using a fulfillment company is recommended as a business grows, as it takes away the headache of managing everything yourself. Fulfillment companies like Fulfillrite offer streamlined services to make order fulfillment easier. Shopify tutorials and crowdfunding can also help with growing an online store and launching new products.

Orderlytics Createsapace Automation

In this video, Eric from Water Lyrics talks about how to order directly from CreateSpace and use it for drop shipping through OrderLytics. One of the issues faced while drop shipping CreateSpace books is that the Amazon seller account doesn't offer discount codes for CreateSpace. This means that when drop shipping the book through OrderLytics, you have to purchase the book at the Amazon market price and wait for the money to flow back to your account, creating a cash flow problem.

To solve this issue, CreateSpace has discount codes within their platform, and through a backend integration within Amazon, you can process the CreateSpace book off the CreateSpace eStore. This allows you to buy your own book at cost and drop ship it to your customers, ultimately creating a more efficient cash flow and allowing you to scale.

To do this, you need to get your CreateSpace Product ID, your Amazon seller merchant ID, and go through a series of configuration steps within OrderLytics. You also need to create a product association and promo code list, and assign the discount code to the merchant ID.

Once set up, when an order comes in, it will tell you to go out to Amazon and order the book based on the translated Amazon URL, and apply the discounts from the promo code during the order cycle. However, note that if the discount number is wrong or invalid, or if you inputted the wrong merchant ID, the order may fail. Additionally, you can only have the CreateSpace book in one Amazon order, so if you have an upsell to a physical product, it will be listed as two separate orders within OrderLytics.

Overall, by following these steps, you can efficiently drop ship CreateSpace books and scale your business.
