Logging In:

There are two ways to log in to Shopify. You can either go to Shopify.com and click on the login button or enter your store name followed by /admin in the URL bar of your browser. The latter method is preferred as it takes you directly to the login page.

Shopify Admin Dashboard Tabs:

1. Home: This tab displays all the latest feeds and notifications related to your store.

2. Orders: This tab contains all the orders placed in your store. You can also view draft orders and abandoned checkouts here.

3. Products: This tab displays all the products in your store. You can manage and edit them from here.

4. Customers: This tab contains all the customer information, including those who have made purchases or subscribed to your newsletter.

5. Analytics: This tab shows the various reports related to your store's performance, including customer visits, session time, and bounce rate.

6. Marketing: This tab allows you to create and run marketing campaigns, including Facebook and Google ads.

7. Online Store: This tab is where you can customize your store's theme, create blog posts and pages, and add navigation bars.

8. Sales Channels: This tab displays all the different channels through which you sell your products, such as Facebook and Instagram.

9. Settings: This tab contains all the general and additional settings for your store, including checkout, payments, notifications, and user permissions.

Shopify Dashboard Overview | Navigating Shopify

Are you a new Shopify user looking to set up your online store? Here are some tips to help you get started:

- Once you have signed up for your Shopify account, you can begin to set up your store by configuring your settings, adding content, graphics, and your products.

- You can access your account using your browser or the Shopify app.

- Managing your account in your browser will give you more functionality to edit your store, but the Shopify app is a very useful tool which we will go over later in the course.

Shopify Homepage and Dashboard:

- Once you log into your account, the first thing you will see is your Shopify homepage and dashboard.

- Here you can get a brief overview of your store's activity, such as the total sales and total visits for the day.

- On the right-hand side, you can also see another summary of your activity.

- You can change the date range and the channels that you wish to view.

- It breaks down your total sales by the sales channel, which includes your online store, your Buy button, your Facebook products, and other integrated channels.

- You can also view your top-selling products and your recent activity.

Orders Page:

- The next tab on the Shopify dashboard is the orders page.

- Here you can get a more detailed view of your customers' orders.

- You can view all orders, your open orders, your unfulfilled orders, and your unpaid orders.

- From here, you can create a new order or export your information into a spreadsheet.

- If you click on drafts, you can see the current orders and invoices that you are currently working on.

- The next menu is the abandoned checkouts, where you can see where customers add items to their cart but didn't complete the checkout process.

Products Tab:

- The first menu under the products tab is where you can add your products to your Shopify store.

- You could also import your products using a CSV file.

- The next menu is transfers, which allows you to manage your inventory transfers and track and receive your incoming inventory from your suppliers.

- Next is the inventory menu, which allows you to manage your inventory by enabling inventory tracking for your products and so you can see what stock levels are starting to get low.

- Next, we have the collections menu, where you can organize your products into collections, which are categories you can create to organize your products and group them together.

- The last menu under products is the gift cards tab, where you have the ability to create gift cards for your store but you need the regular or advanced Shopify plan to use this feature.

Customers Tab:

- This page allows you to manage all the customers that have purchased from your Shopify store.

- You can do all your customers, just the ones that accept your marketing, your repeat customers, your prospective customers, and your customers from the United States.

Reports Tab:

- Here you can view your financial reports, your Shopify reports, and your customer reports.

- Your store's financial report will show you sales, returns, taxes, payments, and a few other features.

- Both the Shopify and custom reports require upgraded Shopify plans.

- Once you upgrade your account, you'll be able to download specialized reports that help you see what's working in your store, increase your engagement, and improve your overall store success.

- The next menu under the reports tab is the dashboards menu, where you can get an even better view of your total sales and the number of visitors to your store.

- To change the date range, just click the drop-down menu in the top right corner.

- Next is the discounts tab. In order to use discounts, you have to upgrade your Shopify plan.

- Discounts allow you to offer special deals to your customers, such as 10% off orders over $100.

Online Store Tab:

- This is where you create your online store and enable other sales channels.

- The first menu under the online store tab is themes. Here's where you select a theme and a layout for your Shopify store.

- You can explore free themes that are offered by Shopify, or you can visit the theme store, which has a wide variety of themes for you to choose from.

- The next menu under the online store tab is blog posts. You can use your Shopify store as your own personal website and create blog posts to increase SEO and content marketing for your products.

- The next menu is pages. Here is where you can build customizable pages for your Shopify store, which can use titles and descriptions to improve your SEO for your website.

- Next is the navigation menu. Here's where you can manage the menus on your Shopify store to help customers easily navigate around your online store.

- You can even include URL redirects, which allows you to send customers to the website of your choice.

- Next, we have the domains menu, where you can connect an existing domain name that you may already own or you can buy a new domain for your Shopify store.

- The last menu under the online store tab is the preferences menu. This is very important information to fill out for your Shopify store, such as your title and meta description, connect your Google Analytics to enable you to track the visitors to your store, and also to connect a Facebook pixel to your Shopify store so that you can retarget customers and run Facebook ads.

Sales Channels:

- The next tab we're going to look at under sales channels is the Buy button. Here's where you can create a Shopify Buy button to allow you to sell your products on your website or blog.

- You can embed the Buy button on many different platforms, including WordPress, Squarespace, and Tumblr.

- The last tab we're going to look at under sales channels is Facebook. Shopify allows you to directly connect your Facebook page with your Shopify account.

- Facebook uses collections in order to group similar products together in order to sell to your customers.

- In order to enable this feature and allow collections to appear on your Facebook shop, make sure you sync your collections with Facebook.

- The next menu is publishing. Here you can see all your products that are ready to be published on Facebook or the product that may have errors preventing it from being published.

- The last menu one of the Facebook tab is the account menu. Here's where you can connect or disconnect your Facebook page, enable or disable your Facebook shop, edit how you want your customers to check out once they purchase your product, and view the terms and conditions for Facebook.

Apps Tab:

- There are hundreds of apps that you can use to manage and help grow your Shopify business.

- There's a wide variety of free apps, but also some more advanced apps that may charge a monthly fee or a one-time fee.

- We'll head over to the Shopify app store later in the course.

Settings Tab:

- First under the settings tab is your general settings. Here you enter your store details such as your store name, account email, and your customer email address, and also your store address, your legal business name, phone number, and street address.

- You can also enter your standards and formats such as your time zone, your unit system, your default weight, and the currency you want to accept.

- Next, we have the payments menu. Here is where you can enable various payment providers to accept credit cards, PayPal, and other payment methods during the customer transaction.

- Payment providers include Shopify payments, powered by Stripe, PayPal, Amazon pay, and you could even accept bitcoins by connecting a provider such as Coinbase.

- Next is the checkout menu. Here you can select what information is required for your customers to be able to check out from your store.

- You can choose if you want your customers to require an account to be able to check out, the information you wish to include on your checkout form, how you wish to handle your order processing, and how you send out promotional emails.

- You can also select the language you wish to use when your customers are checking out and you can edit your refund privacy and TOS statement policies.

- Next is the shipping menu. Here you can see your More.
