Shopify fix for Google Merchant Center: Missing Value Gender Size Color Age Group

In today's video I'm going to tok about the Shopify fix for your Google Merchant Center error: disapproved product value for missing, color, size, age group and gender. Hi, I'm Clarice Lin, ROI doctor who helps small businesses and online stores get more customers and sales by getting on Google and YouTube page one. In today's video I'm going to teach you and show you some screenshots on how you can follow along and fix those issues on your Google Merchant Center account. If you're trying to get Google Merchant Center account setup, you will know by now there are two different types of listings, which is the standard listings and enhanced listings. So if you qualify for standard listings, you'll be- your products will be found on Google search results and Google image search results. And if you want to be eligible for enhanced listings, then one of the attributes to fill up is gender, size, color and the age group for your product type, And this is mainly meant for apparel and accessories. That's the term determined by Google. That basically means that if you are selling an item on your Shopify store that's supposed to be put on a human being- cap, cloth, dress, whatever- you need these four attributes. If you're not sending all this information to Google Merchant Center account, then your products are going to be disapproved And it's not going to be shown on the Google Shopping tab. If you want to know how to fix it on the Shopify site, then you need to follow along with my screenshots. I'm going to show you step by step on how you can fill this information. make sure that your products will be approved. let's head onto my computer. Right now we are on the main page for registration of free listings to resolve the error for missing value, which is the missing value for gender, age group, size and color. This is where criteria is listed by Google. Let's take a look over here. You can see there is additional eligibility requirements for enhanced listings on the shopping tab, Which means that if you want your products to be listed on shopping tab for free, even if you are not paying for ads, you need to follow the policies for free listings as well as for shopping ads. This is the official page for enhanced listing requirements. So there are other attributes that you need to take note as well for your products, But today, specifically, we are going to look at the four missing attributes that you have encountered. which is missing value for color, size, age group and gender. As you can see, Google has listed that these attributes are required for clothing and accessories. If you're selling something that's put on a human being, then you will need to fill this up. If you don't have this information filled up, then Google will deem that your product information is insufficient and your products will not be eligible to be shown on Google Shopping tab. You will still be found on Google search and image search, it's just that you won't be on the shopping tab, which defeats the entire purpose, because we want to be on the shopping tab, where browsers and shoppers are. So to do that, you need to go to your Shopify store, head back to it to your Shopify store, And this is where you can amend those values or fill in those values. If you have your shopping app, which is a Google Shopping app, installed, you will be able to see under your sales channel on your main page right here, To update those information. go to products- all products- and click on each of your products over here. I've selected one of the products here and you can see on the top right hand corner you can see more actions. you can click on that And you can select Google fields, And this is what you will see: dialog box coming up which allows you to update or fill in more values for your each of your products So as to fulfil the criteria for enhanced listings. If you need help for filling up the Google product category over here, I have another video which explains to you exactly how to select the right category, So head right onto it. I'm going to also put the link down in the description and pinned comments, So do check that out. So let's look at the missing values. Age group over here is listed just simply as age. As you can see, this is a drop down lists box which means that the values are fixed. The main values that are shown there are newborn, infant, toddler children and adult. If you're selling a product that's meant for adults of different age or even for a specific age group, you would just select adult. For gender, you can see that drop down box which means the values are fixed. Google will not accept other values. Available values are female, male and unisex, So you can select that accordingly. And for the color of your products, you can fill it right here. it's in text format. As you can see, there is no value check. spell out exactly the color. For size, you can put in the size here, size type as well, and your size system or the size over here. So once you've updated that, the values will be saved and sent to Google once you hit on the Save button over here. Right now it's grayed out, But if you update this information, this will appear as a green button for you to click on Save. Once you click on Save, this information will be saved and will be pushed to over to Google Merchant Center account. If you have set up an automated feed, then you don't have to update this information or download any information to upload over on the Google Merchant Center site. Give it some time and this data will be pushed over to Google and Google will update it on their site and the errors will be resolved. Give it a few days. If you don't see any changes after a week or so, then you can contact Google. Otherwise, it should all work out For each of the products that you have encountered with this missing value: gender, age group, color and size. go to each of the products and update each one of them accordingly and click Save. You have to do it manually And then you click Save And that's it. Now that you have fixed this issue, what you have to do is to wait, Be patient and let Google review all your products and come back to you. You can head onto the Google Merchant Center account to check on the status of your products, But you just have to wait because there are many other Shopify stores or other ecommerce stores who are also doing the same things as you, so there are limited Google resources. In my own experience, you should ideally wait for about a week or so before you try to get in touch with them to try to accelerate this progress, And I hope that's going to help your products get shown on Google listings to get more sales. Set Up Your Shopify Product Feed using the Google Shopping App

In this video, you're going to learn how to set up your product feed for Google Shopping with the Google Shopping App for your Shopify store. This allows us to quickly set up our product feed so we can start running our Google Shopping campaigns and make sales and profits for our store. We've used this method to generate a lot of sales for our stores like this one, this one and this one. Now, what is required to set up your feed with this method today? The first thing you need is to set up your Google Merchant Center account. This means going to merchantsgooglecom, setting up your account and adding in all your settings and business information. You then need to claim and verify your website, add your shipping information and your returns and refund information. This process is quite straightforward and I have videos on every single thing you need to do here. I'll leave a link to those videos down below. I walk you through the process step-by-step. These videos are actually all part of our free Google Shopping course that shows you how to set up, optimize and scale your campaigns. I'll leave a link down below. go and check that out and then keep going through this video right here. Once complete, your Google Merchant Center account is ready for us to go, And we're going to open up our Shopify dashboard and make sure we're logged in. You can also access this Shopify App by going to apps, customize your store, searching for Google Shopping Shopify, Then go below this video and find the link to the Google Shopping channel app. You should see this page. Make sure you only use this app here, called Google channel by Shopify. We use this app because it's free and easy to use, and I want to save you guys the pain and money. You need to make sure you're logged into Shopify before we can install it, So make sure at the top it says "Log out". to know that you're logged in, Just click the button that says "Add app". It's then going to show you this confirmation page. Scroll down and click "Add sales channel". Now you should see this page here. Just click "Connect Google account". It's going to ask you to log in. click "Allow". Great, it's now connected, 👍. We then want to go through this checklist section here and make sure to check these off. This means having the valid payment method on your store, making sure your store is public, adding a refunds, returns policy and terms of service, and making sure you add your contact information onto your store as well. I'm going to confirm that I've added contact information to my store. click "Confirm". It's then going to ask me to verify my contact number, Then going to confirm my product feed settings. If you're not sure about this, just go through the free Google Shopping course and go through the website compliance video. I'll leave a link to that exact lesson below. It teaches everything you need to make sure you're compliant. If you don't make sure you're compliant as soon as you try running your ads, your account might get banned, and then it's even harder to fix. So I recommend getting this right the first time to save yourself a world of pain later. Next, we want to accept the terms and conditions and click "Complete setup". Next, we'll see this page here. We'll now make sure that our feed is set up. click "Manage availability". It's then going to show us all the products in our store and we will now optimize our feed so that we can get more clicks and more sales. This is an important step. don't skip it 👀. Optimizing our feed means editing each product field in this table. Now, for some of these fields. this is actually editing what's on your website, but I'm also going to show you how to edit the titles and descriptions so it shows up differently in your Google Shopping campaigns. Optimizing the fields like this is a key part of scaling your campaigns, generating more sales and more profits. We'll go through all the edits we need to make right now to optimize our feed here. First, we need to unhide the columns that we're going to be editing. Make sure, at the top here we have the following columns: unhidden title available to Google, Google product category, MPN, page title and meta description. Once you see these columns, we're now going to go through one-by-one and make sure the product information is correct, as well as optimize it. First we're going to start with the product title. Your title is the most important product field for Google. Your Google Shopping campaigns will perform much better if you spend the time to craft an optimized title. These titles here in the title column are actually what's on our ecommerce store, but honestly, you don't always want to have the same title in your Shopping ads as what's on your store. Look at this example. This brand is selling a backpack called Liter, but how would Google know what the heck a Liter is? A better title would be "Sling Backpack in grey, 40L". See how that's much more descriptive and also optimized towards what a customer might search. The question I often get asked here is: "Is there some sort of formula for a good product title". The answer is "Yes" 👍. We have a full guide on optimizing your titles using formula structures. It also includes these templates of the structures that you can use for your own titles, and I'm going to leave a link below this video. Now, something to note is that this title here means that you will be editing your website title, Which is probably not what you want. that's why we unhid this column "Page title". This means that instead of editing the title on the actual page, we're editing what's called the SEO title. This means what Google is going to show in the search results for organic listings, as well as affect what's going to show in your Shopping ads. Now let's edit our first title here. "Snooze go" is not a very descriptive title for what we're actually selling here, which is a white noise machine, So I'm going to change the title to something a bit more relevant. I've put here: "White noise machine with fan, Bluetooth enabled". This is just an example, but you can imagine that people are going to be searching for a white noise machine with Bluetooth and maybe with a fan, and this is going to better target those search queries. This is going to allow Google to better understand what we're selling here To show to the right customers and get us more clicks for less. Now that we've optimized our title, we can now optimize our description. Similar to the title, Google does give the description weight in how to show your products to the customers. What I like to do here is just pull in the actual description on our page and then edit it to make sure we clean it up for any HTML or anything like that. Think about what sort of description someone that's searching for your type of products is going to want to see in the search results before clicking on your page. Keep in mind that you don't have a lot of space here, so keep it as descriptive as possible while stiking to the main points. Now that we've done that, let's adjust our Google products category. This column is for us to put in the Google product category for each product. Google has their own big list of categories that help them figure out what your product is. We need to check this list for the most relevant category for our product and then paste in the code into this cell for each of our products. To find this list of all the Google product categories, check below this video. I'll leave a link to it there. Search through until you find whatever is best related to your product. For example, we're selling white noise machines, so I just searched for white noise and it's pulled up 4056 as the Google product category. This may take a little bit of searching, trying out some.

are you trying to get your google shopping campaign set up, but it's so painful and complicated. i'm going to simplify the whole process in this video and walk you through step by step. let's go. hey guys, sam here from keycommercecom, and today i'm going to show you how to set up your google shopping campaigns all from scratch. this video has everything you need to set up your google shopping campaigns. i've been running google shopping campaigns for years and years and i've scaled up many different stores using this strategy. i also run an e-commerce marketing agency and we have our own store that we scaled up using this method too. i know this stuff is complicated because people reach out to me all the time trying to get help on how to set this up, so i've made it really, really simple in this video here. okay, so there are a bunch of different ways that we can use to set up our google shopping feed for our google shopping ads. in this video here that you're watching right now, i'm going to take you through the shopify app method. now i've made two other videos on two other methods you can use to set up your google shopping campaigns. i'll leave a link to them in the description as well, but really you can use any of these methods, okay? so i'm sure you know what google shopping ads are already. they're the ads that show up on google search but are separate from regular text search ads. they're really, really awesome for e-commerce stores because they show your customers the product image and the price in all our accounts. generally, we find that google shopping campaigns outperform search campaigns in terms of the actual volume of traffic and conversions, as well as how much profit we're generating with those campaigns. so let's now jump into my computer and set these bad boys up. let's go. okay, guys, let's create our google merchant center account. let's go to google. type in google merchant center, click on the first result for merchant center. i'm going to click get started. it's going to ask us to enter in our business information. make sure that you're using the same email that's going to be used on your google analytiks account and your google ads account. if they're all the same email, it's going to be so much easier because google is going to automatikally see that you own all these accounts and it's easy to link them all up. select your country, your business display name. this is going to be what your business looks like in merchant center for yourself and your time zone, really important for reporting. so mine's key surface and i'm going to do west coast and you have to agree with the merchant senate terms and conditions. click continue, great. so this is going to choose what programs we're going to sign up for. on merchant center, we're going to choose services across google and shopping ads. now surfaces across google. this is the free, organic listings on google. by setting up the merchant center account, the way we're gonna set up, we get to access these listings. but we're also gonna do the shopping ads, the paid ads. that's what we're here for. so once we click that, we click create account. so now we've started creating our account. so now we're gonna go through and set up first the surfaces across google. all the stuff we set up here is basically gonna affect shopping anyway. so we're gonna set this up together. so we're gonna go through and before we do our products, let's do, uh, the other parts. so first let's go: uh, get our website linked up to merchant center. so click that bottom one and then website url. this is your website url. so go get your shopify url- uh, your actual final url that the customer sees: mine's keysurfacecom- click save. you then have to claim this url. so we have to verify and claim. now i'm going to show you the easiest way to do this, which is the bottom right hand corner. i have access to my server and i'm going to take you through this step by step. so click. i have access to my server. now all we have to do here is just add this little bit of html to our homepage. super easy, i'm going to take you through it step by step. so all we have to do is copy that. click that button. it's going to copy it to clipboard and we're going to open up our shopify dashboard. so here i'm, on the hot shopify dashboard on the left hand side. i'm going to go down to online store. i'm going to go to themes and then i'm going to go click actions and then edit code. now we're going to go to theme liquid. make sure you're in theme dot liquid- really important guys. now what we're going to do is we're going to scroll down until we see the, the slash head. it's got to be slash head, it can't be head by itself slash head, and you can easily find this by just searching in the search box for exactly this. so just copy exactly what i search, it's going to find that exact code. there's only one of them in the whole page and we're going to paste that code right above this. it's super simple, guys. that's all you have to do. right above that slash head. and there's my code. and you see, it's always right before the body class. there is another head element at the top, because there's an open and there's a close. that's the open right there, but down the bottom we want to put it right before the closing one. click save. all right, guys, let's now verify that we've actually installed it properly. so click the little i icon, open up your home page, and then all you have to do is right click and select view page source. now this is the code of the website. i will be able to find the tag here if you actually saved that code before. so all you have to do is just search for that open brackets- i don't know what you call it- and then head, and then you'll see it there. and then, right above that, you'll see our google site verification tag is right there, exactly what we pasted. so you know, boom, it's there on the website, and now we just have to go back to merchant center and get it verified. all right, guys. so now we're back in merchant center and we just have to click verify url. boom, we're now verified. all we have to do now is click claim url in the bottom right hand corner. mine's gonna say it's gonna have a yellow box saying that i need to reclaim it. that's fine, you might have that as well if you've already tried setting this up before. that's totally fine, guys. but click claim url in the bottom right hand corner right there. one other merchant center can't exist with this website. that's because i tried setting up before. click claim url. it's going to override that one. and now it's green. both are green- awesome, fantastik. it's gonna refresh. beautiful, that looks fantastik. let's go back to the merchant center account and let's keep setting up the rest of our account. so next we have to set up the settings. so go to set up shipping- awesome guys. so for the shipping settings, i've got a whole video on shipping settings, but i'm going to go through here with you anyway. what you need to do here is basically create your shipping settings so it matches what's on your website. so i'm going to set flat rate shipping. united states, us dollars. order cutoff time. this is when does someone need to order, buy, to get delivered and start delivering the next day? so 3 pm. so i'm going to put 3 pm here and west coast handling time. the next one here: this is how long it takes in the warehouse before you actually ship it out. so sometimes that could take a few days, depending on the product. the warehouse transit time: this is how long it takes, once it leaves the warehouse, to get to the customer, and this is going to depend on your store, your products. i'm going to put this in as an example: great advanced settings- that's minimum order value. not going to put that in for now, i'm going to keep it really simple. but you can set a minimum order value that someone needs to get this shipping rate next in here. holiday cut off, uh. so that's you know. if you've got a big, you know black friday, uh, or christmas, something like that, then you can actually put ones in for How To Add Product Categories In Shopify | Dropshipping 2022

hello everyone and welcome back to our Channel. today we are going to tok about how to add product categories in Shopify. in this video, we will demonstrate all the steps to add product categories in Shopify, how to create Pages for each category and how to link them with product categories. so watch this video till the end to better understand all these steps. to use Shopify, you need an account on it. if you have a Shopify account already, click on the login button on the top right corner, or else click on the start free trial button to create a Shopify account. after successfully logging in or signing up, you will be redirected to your dashboard. now we are going to demonstrate how you can add product categories in your Shopify store. let's first see the current view of our Shopify store. click on the online store tab in the left sidebar and on the online store page, click on the view your store button on the top right side. your online store will open in a new window and here is a look of it. you can see that there are three menus in the top navigation bar, which are home, catalog and contact. we are going to add our product categories menu along with these menus in this top navigation bar. so let's get started. click on the navigation tab under the online stores section in the left sidebar. here you can see that there are two types of menus that are already added to our Shopify store. one is the footer menu, which has only the search item, and the second is the main menu, which has three items, which are home, catalog and contact. there are two ways to proceed further. either you can create a new menu with your product categories or you can add the product categories section in the main menu section. but we recommend that you add your product categories in the main menu section, because if you create a new menu, then you need to replace it with the current main menu and then important Pages like home, catalog and contact will also get removed. to add a new menu item, use this add menu button, but we are going ahead with adding the product categories in the main menu. so click on the main menu button now on this page. from here you can rename this main menu and these are the items under this main menu. you can use these edit and delete buttons to make changes to the related items. to add a new menu item, click on the add menu item button at the bottom of the menu items. a pop-up window will open from the right sidebar. here enter the name of the menu item, in other words, enter the product category name. here we are entering it as product categories. now from here we have to add a page link to this category. in the given page list you will see all the pages available to your store, but we have not created a page for our category. we will do it after creating categories and we will add it later. so for now we can select any page from the list and then click on the add button at the bottom right corner. so you can see that the created product categories menu has been added to the list. now move your cursor on the left side and drag it to move it and arrange the order. we are keeping it after the catalog menu. so we have created the main menu for our navigation bar. now we have to create different categories. click again on the add menu item on the pop-up window. here enter the category name- we are entering clothing- and in the links section select any random page and then click on the add button. now clothing has been added to the menu list. we are going to drag it from the left corner and move it below the product categories, and if you move it towards the right, it will be added as a sub menu under product categories. so we have successfully created our first category. to add more categories, click on the add menu item to product categories button on the pop-up window. repeat the same steps. we are creating a category called appliances. so two product categories have been added under the product categories menu. repeat these same steps to create more categories and you can also create subcategories under any of the categories. just follow the steps that we had shown earlier and once you are done with creating all the product categories, click on the save menu button in the bottom right corner. so now the product categories have been successfully created. now the only thing left is to create separate pages for each category and add the links to their categories. to create a page for categories, click on the pages tab under your online stores section on this page. here you will see all the pages that are created for your Shopify store. to create a new page, click on the add page button on the top right side. in the title section, enter the name of your product category that you have created. we are creating a page for the clothing category. you can use this box to write a description or add the products link and then click on the save button at the bottom right corner. so our first page for clothing categories has been created successfully. we need to create separate pages for each category, to create a new page. either you can create the page from scratch, as we had created for the clothing category, or else you can use this duplicate button to make a copy of this page. we are going ahead with duplicating this page. click on the duplicate button. a pop-up window will open here. enter the second categories name- we are creating a page for appliances- and then click on the duplicate button. so in the page list here you can see the pages that we have just created. repeat the same steps of creating Pages for each category. now let's move on to adding these page links to the categories. click on the navigation tab in the left sidebar and then click on the main menu. click on the edit button next to the product category and in the pop-up window in the link section, select pages from the list and then select the created page and finally click on the apply changes button. repeat the same steps for adding page links to each product category and, once you're done, click on the save menu button at the bottom right corner. so now let's take a look at our store. click on the online store Tab and then click on view your store. here you can see that the product categories menu has been added to the menu list and if you click on it, you can see the how to add product categories in shopify. hey guys, welcome back to the youtube channel. in this video, i'm going to be showing you how you can add your product categories on shopify, so let's get into it now. the first thing that you might be wondering is: i have logged onto my shopify store. i'm editing the online store. how do i add categories? well, you don't add product categories from the online store editor. you're gonna do that before you actually go into editing your store. so just log on to your shopify store. this is going to be your homepage, and now what you're going to do is you're going to click on online store over here. once you click on that, you're going to click on navigation, and once you click on navigation, you're going to click on add menu. so, or you can just click on main menu over here and from your main menu, what you're going to do this is your product catalog. so to add categories and subcategories, you're going to click on add menu item. you're going to write, let's say, bose, and then what you're going to do is you're going to click on add and then you're going to add a page over here. so we're going to later on add those pages. but what you're going to do is you're going to drag this over here, drag it above, and if you move it to the right over here, this is going to be created as a sub page. so you can see, over here in our catalog we have the sub page of bose. now, after that you can keep on adding more sub pages. and another thing that you can do is click on add menu item. you can write small bows and click on add. over here we're just going to add the home page and then what you can do is you can move this to the right as well. and now bose has one category as well which is called small bows. so this has its own categories and these categories have their own subcategories. and let's say you add large bows and you're going to click on add and then you have these two subcategories now. after that you can just click on add menu item. let's say we have t-shirts, we're going to add that other subcategory and you're just going to click on save and you're going to add that. so these are two basic subcategories in the catalog section- the bose and the t-shirt- and then the bose has two other subcategories. now how to actually go on about to that page. now, after you have added those categories, you're going to click on view online store and you're going to begin editing your online store so you can see over here, this is your online store. you're going to click on edit home page and what you're going to do basically is, once you go on to your home page, you're going to go and you're going to go into your pages. so you're going to click on catalog over here and what you're going to do is you're going to create the pages that you just named over here on your menu item. so we're going to go back into our little editor and what you're going to do is, in the collection section, you're going to add your pages so you can click on over here, click on the collection section and you can see these uh categories are going to be loaded up over here and you're just going to add the pages. so we're going to go back and then we're gonna go into collections, create a template and you're just going to click on add collection and the collection is going to be close. create template. and now in the collections, i have added the bose collection so you can see over here, this collection has been added. now, once you add collections over here, what you can do is go back into your shopify dashboard, go into your product section and then you can see over here, this is an item and what you're going to do is you're going to add the collection for this item. so my product is currently looking like, and what i'm going to do is, if i take a look over here, that i have assigned to collections 0 collections. so in the bow section, what you're going to do is, from your bose, you have your little item over here and what you're going to do is you're just going to go back into your product and then you're going to have a type and product organization and you can see all of these custom fields that we have over here, and you're going to click on browse all or, if you can't find the collection that you created, just add custom type. you can add both and you're just going to make sure that this is added, all of the variants and options. you're going to click on save and now, once you have added all of that, what you're going to do is create the pages. so for that you're going to go back into your dashboard, you're going to click on the online store and then you're going to click on pages over here and once you do that, you're going to click on add page and now i'm going to add the page called bose and then you can click on save over here. and then what you're going to do is, once i've added the bose page, i'm going to go back into my navigation, i'm going to click on main menu and i'm going to click on the catalog. i'm going to add the main menu- those. i forgot to save it previously, but now i'm going to link it to the bose page. so let's say, this is just the bose page, so i'm going to click on add over here and now i'm going to move this up and make it a sub page of catalog, just like that, and now i'm just going to save it over here. and once you have done all of these steps, you're just going to view your online store. this is like a very blank online store. this is just a sample for you to better understand how to do it on your own. but if i click on catalog, i have the subcategory of bose and if i click on bose over here, i have the bose page. this page is called bose and obviously i haven't added any products, but once i add products then i can view them over here. so if i go into my products and if you take a look at your product, what you can do is you can click on over here in your collection section. you can see over here. i've added it to the home page, but what you can do is add more pages as well. so if i go onto the bose collection, you can add that over here as well and you can, you know, add as many variants you want, as many uh options you want of your product. now, just like that, you have your product categories and subcategories in shopify. you can add as many as you want, but i would recommend that you don't go overboard with creating your product categories and subcategories, because if you do, you know it might make your navigation panel a bit too confusing and a bit irritating. but you can add, like all the basic categories that you want, and you can add different active and draft statuses on your product as well. so that is how simple and easy it is for you to create your product categories. so, although shopify is a great ecommerce storefront creator and you can create a beautiful ecommerce storefront and create different product categories and customize your shopify store as much as you like. it is not available for free. so shopify starts at 29 per month, where you can add two staff members in four locations and you have to pay two percent of transactional fees for all payment providers and you have a currency conversion fee of two percent as well and you have all of the basic things that are available on any other e-commerce platform. now the shopify plan, which starts at 49 per month, has up to five staff members, five locations for analysis and professional reports. so that is one of their more pay and like one of the more premium versions, and they only have a transactional fee of one percent. so that is with every shopify version, the higher paid version that you opt for on shopify, the lower transactional fees you have to pay, although you have to pay the same currency conversion free on all three versions. now, on your advanced shopify plan, you have up to 15 staff members, eight locations, fraud analysis reporting, advanced report builders, international pricing and duties and import taxes as well. so that is another plan that you can opt for if you're looking for a higher-end version of shopify. i think for most people, using the basic version and adding your own code and cus.

How to Setup Shopify's Google Channel App w/ Google Shopping Product Feed Ads (2021 Tutorial)

[Music]. hello and welcome to another nexus digital tutorial. my name is brady and in today's video, we're going to walk you through the app add-on process for the google channel app made by shopify. that will link into the back end of your shopify store website. that will allow you to start running ads through google merchant center for google shopping and also provide you with the free listings for organic shoppers that are out there. now, before we get this started and start running through the process of adding on the app and setting it all up, there's a few housekeeping things that i would highly recommend you do in advance before setting up the app. you can do these while you're in the process of setting the app, but it's going to speed things up and save you some time in the long run and i highly recommend that we do that. so we're going to start off with that and then we're going to go into the app add-on process. with that said, let's get started. [Music]. okay, so i just want to quickly clarify something before we begin this. these steps aren't necessarily going to save you time in the long run. they will save you some frustration, some headache, but it will ultimately make the google channel app add-on process just a little bit smoother for you, so you're not jumping between the app um setup and then going back into your page and going through your settings and things like that. so it will kind of save you some time in that sense, and more so just some frustration, just making things a little bit easier to do. so what you're going to do from your shopify account in your settings section, these are the areas that you want to uh focus in on. the first one is your legal section, which is right here. uh, from your settings along the bottom hand- you'll see it along the bottom hand side here, your settings section here- and then you're going to go into the legal section and you want to set up your refund policy, your privacy policy, your terms of service, your shipping policy. okay now, uh, what's really great about shopify is, if you don't have access to these templates, you don't have this information. um, you can actually create, or shopify will create, a basic template for you and i just kind of go in and modify certain elements if you don't know what you're doing. um, otherwise, yeah, you should have some of the stuff on file or it should already be existing on your actual website. so you're gonna put that, plug, that information in um and then along the bottom you'll just see this uh, save button. just click on that and you're good to go. after that, you're gonna go back into your online store [Music] and you're going to go into your navigation [Music] and this is where you're going to click on your footer and this is where you want to add in and make sure that these elements are present on your website. after you've got them in place, um shopify will automatikally kind of include them or look to include them onto your website. but these are the things you want to set up first. so you're going to click on your footer menu and you want to hook up your privacy policy, your terms and service, your refund policy and your shipping policy, and it's really quite easy to do. you'll be able to add them in, but you can just kind of see. you're going to click on the edit button, you're going to type in the name i've already typed in the privacy policy and then, when the link comes up, uh, you'll automatikally be prompted to go to these sections or to put in like a url. just kind of scroll down and then you'll see like the policies section, and then right away. they've automatikally got them kind of prompted in from that other page. you just want to click on privacy policy and then you'll apply the changes right, and you want to do that for terms and service, refund and your shipping, and then you're going to save the menu and then, after you're going to go right back into your um online store, you go to customize [Music] and then you want to highlight your footer- and this is again where they're kind of already in place, but you're going to add these elements in your: your address, your phone number and your email. google merchant center requires that these are on your website. there's no getting around it, so the easiest way is to kind of chuck them on your footer and then you're gonna add in a menu option and that menu option will automatikally prompt you to allow you to add in those elements your- and i've just labeled it- info. but you can put in your privacy policy, your terms of service, your refund policy and your shipping policy and then again including your address, your phone number and your email. it just makes things go a lot smoother and there's no hassle from uh google to give you approval and such, and after you complete those things, uh, you're ready to move on to the next phase. okay, so you've added the legal pages to your uh footer section, you've added your contact details- your email, phone number and address- so people can contact you for google shopping requirements- and we're ready to set up the google channel app. now i'm not going to lie, it is a little bit glitchy at times and sometimes it doesn't function 100 smoothly. however, if you're just starting up, it is a free app. if you don't have a lot of products. this is probably the best route to start at, before you move on to something like flexify or google uh feed for google shopping, which are paid service fees, and those depend on how many skus you have in your or how many items you have in your inventory. that will affect your subscription for those. now let's get going and we'll see how everything goes okay. so, to begin, you're going to want to open up your browser. you're going to want to go to shopify's app store. in the app section, you're going to want to select google channel [Music] and you want to find the one that's made by shopify. you're going to want to click on that and you're going to want to add the app and you're going to put in your shopify url [Music], and if you haven't already logged in, it'll log you in. choose your profile [Music]. it should redirect you back right into your store and you're going to go through all of the app, um guidelines and setup permissions. you scroll down to the bottom, add the sales channel. you can go through and obviously go through all these things and the requirements and stuff like that. but i'm just going to add beside the sales channel and the next step is to connect your google account [Music] and you'll log in with um, the account that you set everything up with. it's gonna say what they require permissions for. i'm going to allow [Music]. okay, um, you should be able to add the refund policy and all the terms of service [Music]. i'm gonna add those policy pages. this is one of the things i suggest you do. before creating uh the account and going through this process, i'm going to confirm that we have the physical business address, a phone number and the email address. i've added these to the footer of the page so they're visible- and there's also a contact page where people have access to see all this information as well. i'm going to confirm [Music] and once you get your account connected or your google channel connected. through the app and the channel and setup process, you can actually just create a brand new merchant center account directly from the tool. we are going to create a new account: [Music]. now we're going to move on. you're going to select your target market, and here will be canada, language will be english, save. now the next thing that we'll have to do is set up your shipping settings or manage your shipping settings. you can automatikally import them from your shopify account. however, if you're using an outside tool- um, in this case we're running things through canada post- it may not work and yeah. so there you go and you can kind of set up a maximum flat rate shipping. but what we'll do is just kind of click manual and we'll set that within google merchant center after, and then you go through your terms of service. this is the last one here now.
