- I will be sharing my experiences with Royal Mail and Shopify, as well as tips for dealing with customs forms and shipping to specific countries.

Shipping with Royal Mail:

- I use Royal Mail for both UK and international shipping.

- When signing up with Royal Mail, there is an option to ship to international customers using various services.

- I always choose the international signed and tracked service to avoid losing packages and delays.

- If you have a different way of shipping with Royal Mail, feel free to share in the comments.

Setting up Shipping Rates on Shopify:

- I import my shipping rates from Royal Mail into Shopify, where customers can choose their shipping option based on their address.

- Make sure to set a price that is fair and covers your costs, including any customs fees.

- Copy the customs code for each product from the government website and include it on the customs form.

Dealing with Brexit and Shipping to Europe:

- At the moment, shipping to Europe is complicated due to Brexit and the new tax laws.

- To continue shipping to the EU, you need to sign up for an IOSS number, which can be difficult and expensive.

- For now, I have paused shipping to Europe until I can find a better solution.

- If you have any suggestions or solutions, please share in the comments.

Wholesale Orders:

- For larger orders, I use Parcel Monkey or another courier service to save money.

Shipping from China:

- Make sure to speak with the supplier about shipping options, including sea, air, or train.

- DDP shipping is a good option to avoid customs fees for customers.

Busy Times:

- During busy periods like Christmas, shipping times may be longer than usual.

- Make sure to communicate with customers and advise them to buy early to avoid disappointment.

- International shipping can be a headache, but with some preparation and research, it can be manageable.

VAT 2021 | IOSS Explanation & Solution

Hey guys, it's Bella from CJdropshipping, and today I want to help you understand the whole VAT and IOSS situation that has been confusing a lot of dropshippers since July 1st. In this article, I'll explain what these concepts are and demonstrate how you can register for IOSS and set your IOSS declaration on CJ. So let's get started!

What is VAT?

- VAT is a consumption tax placed on a product whenever value is added at each stage of the supply chain.

- Let's use an example to make it easier to understand:

- If the VAT rate is 10%, a farmer sells 1 bag of apples to a baker for 70 pence.

- The baker makes a jar of apple jam and sells it to the customer for 5 pounds.

- During this process, the baker paid 77 pence to the farmer, in which 7 pence is the VAT fee that got paid to the government by the farmer.

- When this apple jam got on the shelf, the customer needs to pay 5.50 pounds for it, in which 50 pence is the VAT fee.

- The baker will pay 50 + 7 = 57 pence to the government.

What is IOSS?

- The Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) is an electronic portal that businesses can use since July 1st, 2021, to comply with e-commerce VAT obligations on distance sales of imported goods.

- The IOSS allows suppliers selling imported goods to buyers in the EU to collect, declare, and pay the VAT to the tax authorities instead of making the buyer pay the VAT at the moment the goods are imported into the EU.

- When it comes to selling to the EU, there are two occasions:

- When the order value is above 150 euros, the recipient will be required to pay VAT and customs duties.

- When the order value is less than or equal to 150 euros, there are three options for CJ users to set the declaration.

- In this case, the recipient will be required to pay VAT to complete the customer clearance; otherwise, the parcel will be detained or destructed by the customs.

How to register for your own IOSS:

- A business can be registered on the IOSS portal of any EU member state.

- If your business is not based in the EU, you need to appoint an EU-established intermediary to fulfill their VAT obligations under IOSS.

- If you are not from an EU country or simply don't have your own IOSS, you can declare with CJ's IOSS ID.

How to set your IOSS declaration on CJ:

- If you have your own IOSS ID, you can link it to your CJ account. The operation is straightforward. Just log in to your CJ account, find my profile, click in, and choose the declare with my own IOSS from the IOSS option list.

- If you don't have your own IOSS, you can declare with CJ's IOSS ID. Log in to your CJ account, find declaration settings, choose declare with CJ's IOSS declaration, and choose the destination.

- However, CJ's IOSS ID will not be applicable for orders valued above 150 euros.

In conclusion, VAT and IOSS can be confusing, but they are essential for e-commerce businesses selling goods to the EU. By understanding these concepts and registering for IOSS, you can comply with VAT obligations and avoid customs issues. Don't forget to subscribe to our channel for more useful tips and info.
