Today we will be discussing one of my favorite parts of the Shopify platform: the Shopify Point of Sale.

- Shopify Point of Sale (POS) is a solution for retailers to sell their products in person, accessible as events and in-store.

- Shopify POS can be used with Android smartphones, iPhones, and more.

- POS can integrate with a variety of hardware, such as seat printers, cash drawers, and card readers.

Features of Shopify POS:

- Last week, Shopify announced a new design for its card readers, which will be free to book with a Shopify POS subscription.

- Shopify POS allows merchants to use apps that can help with accounting, running marketing campaigns, customizing the seat, and more.

- Shopify created a new category for the Shopify App Store, which allows apps to be integrated directly into Shopify POS.

Integrating Apps with Shopify POS:

- POS apps appear inside a point of sale, just like how they show up in the Shopify web admin.

- Merchants can click on the Apps tab in the POS to access their installed apps, which are often inside an iframe.

- POS apps can be accessed through the app tab, which can lead to a full-screen view or inside the modal.

POS Links:

- Extensions of the Shopify Checkout allow merchants to place links within the checkout flow that open their app with a modal or full-screen view.
